Description

Barcud Coch (Red Kite) is a luxurious single-storey retreat set amongst the rolling countryside of Powys, near Berriew in Mid Wales. Surrounded by spectacular rural scenery, abundant wildlife and far-reaching views towards Corndon Hill, this beautifully designed lodge offers a peaceful escape for families and friends looking to relax, reconnect and experience the beauty of the Welsh countryside. With a private hot tub, outdoor shower, enclosed garden, dedicated enclosed dog exercise area and direct access to walking and cycling routes, Barcud Coch effortlessly combines contemporary comfort with an inspiring natural setting.

At the heart of the property lies a spacious open-plan living area, thoughtfully designed to bring people together. The stylish kitchen is fully equipped for preparing anything from leisurely breakfasts to celebratory meals, while the breakfast bar and generous dining area create the perfect setting for socialising long after dinner has ended. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and patio doors flood the space with natural light and frame the ever-changing countryside views beyond.

After a day of exploring, sink into the comfortable sofas and unwind with a favourite film or simply watch the landscape unfold outside. Step onto the expansive terrace and embrace a slower pace of life. Designed for both relaxation and making memories, the outdoor space invites guests to enjoy everything from morning coffee overlooking the hills to an invigorating outdoor shower and a soothing soak beneath the stars in the hot tub. Fire up the charcoal barbecue, settle into the outdoor seating and make the most of long evenings spent in the fresh country air. On clear nights, the area's dark skies provide excellent stargazing opportunities.

When it's time to retire for the evening, four beautifully presented bedrooms offer a welcoming sanctuary. The super-king-size and king-size bedrooms each benefit from their own en-suite shower room, while two versatile twin bedrooms provide flexible accommodation for children, friends or additional family members. Completing the layout is an elegant Jack-and-Jill bathroom featuring a freestanding bath, ideal for unwinding after a day spent outdoors.

Nature is at the heart of the experience here. The property takes its name from the magnificent red kites that are frequently seen soaring above the surrounding fields, while a wealth of local wildlife can be spotted throughout the seasons. Walkers and cyclists are particularly well catered for, with footpaths, bridleways and National Cycle Route 81 accessible from the doorstep, alongside secure bike storage for keen adventurers.

Further afield, discover the historic market town of Welshpool, visit the magnificent Powis Castle and Gardens, explore Montgomery and Dolforwyn Castles, enjoy a nostalgic journey on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, or spend a day exploring Gregynog Hall and its beautiful grounds. With outdoor adventures, local heritage and stunning scenery all within easy reach, Barcud Coch provides an exceptional base for experiencing Mid Wales.

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, gathering with loved ones or simply escaping the pace of everyday life, Barcud Coch offers a memorable countryside retreat in an outstanding setting.

A wonderful few days spent at Barcud Coch.

The house was very well-equipped, beautifully presented and offered everything our family group of 8 needed. We all said we’d love to live there permanently! Fantastic views from the terrace and the hot tub proved to be very popular. You won’t regret booking it.

We loved our stay at Barcud Coch the views were beautiful the lodge was spotless, the hot tub was cleaned regularly the family were on hand if we needed anything.

The rooms were hot but we seemed to have a heatwave last week so the fan in the living room was greatly appreciated. 10/10 from us definitely recommend.
