Perfect for a couple, or a solo traveller, this abode makes a charming base for a romantic getaway to North Wales, with plenty of nearby amenities and attractions to explore. Inside, a studio-style living space offers everything you need for a self-catered stay, including an equipped kitchen, to whip up some tasty food, a dining area for toasting a wonderful holiday, and a plush king-size bed to jump into after a long day of fun-filled adventures. The Cuckoo Hut was beautifully appointed, lots of fantastic touches to make the place feel special. Amazing views over the hills from the terrace and the hot tub. The hot tub was warmed to temperature on arrival and was a perfect way to end the day. We loved everything about our stay. The owners left us to our own devices but when we bumped into them the morning we were leaving, we chatted for ages, friendly and really happy to share what they have built here. A unique cosy , clean and comfortable stay.
Owners of Cuckoo Hut have cleverly designed and decorated the interior to a high standard. Outside decking with hot tub, garden furniture and eating area provided a very enjoyable stay. Our dog was welcome and plenty of walks available nearby.

Very peaceful and tranquil location for me and my dog.
Bit tricky to get to as the roads are a bit challenging !! ( go in from the south) But it's worth it for the stunning location. The fresh bread on arrival was delicious. The hut is gorgeous inside, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and decorated. There's plenty of storage and it's surprisingly spacious. Very well equipped, the hosts have thought of everything, even charging cables. I slept soundly on the massive comfy bed. It was really hot but the front of the hut was shady and cool by the afternoon (plenty of sunshine by the side!) so we spent most of our time on the comfy outdoor sofa admiring the view. There were enough logs supplied for the log burners for a couple of nights. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly and had lots advice about the local area. My dog made friends with their lovely dogs and the dog field was great for sniffles and chasies. The area has plenty of interesting dog friendly places to explore. It was too hot for our usual long walkies but there were lots of places for a doggie paddle. There's a couple of walks from the hut, which we did on on a evening as the sun set, with just the many sheep for company! We had a fantastic time, if you're looking for peace and quiet this is the place.

Where to start?
! From first contact to departure the owners were absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed at Cuckoo because we were attending a gig at Llangollen Pavillion. Although not the closest accommodation to our venue, for the price we paid it was absolutely incredible and worth every penny. The hut is well presented and tastefully decorated with two of everything you could possibly need for a short break in a tiny home. The bed was super comfortable, with good quality bedding, reading lamps and a Tv. The fridge, toaster, kettle and microwave were in good condition, the hot water plentiful and with good pressure and the cold tap was cold even given it was 32-34 degrees outside! The two ring electric convection stove was ample for our needs, I managed to cook a pasta dish for two with the equipment provided. The bathroom, as with the whole hut, was compact but still tastefully decorated with lovely knickknacks and artwork. Plenty of loo roll, hand soap, two comfy robes and a super overhead shower. Our hosts messaged to ask if the bread that they usually provide (freshly baked) on arrival would be more appreciated on the morning after our arrival due to us being out all evening. When it arrived it was still warm and smelled delicious, it didn’t disappoint! We will definitely be returning to this hut as it is such a beautiful spot and so peaceful, sitting in the hot tub looking out over the valley with a glass of wine was divine! We downloaded the birdsong app Merlin and simply listened to the many different birds. Peace perfect peace! Thanks Heather and Graham for a wonderful break. xx

Found Wild Valley huts, stayed in cuckoo and it was absolutely perfect, very clean and well equipped everything we needed. Heather and Graeme was brilliant host, left us to enjoy our stay, only a call or text away if you needed anything. Very special touch with a freshly baked loaf of bread, it was delicious. First stay here and definitely won't be our last.
Such a welcoming couple will to help Our recent stay was absolutely wonderful, and we're already planning our return trip! The shepherd's hut offered such a peaceful and relaxing escape for us as a couple. Waking up to the quiet countryside was pure bliss. We truly enjoyed every moment of our time there. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a serene getaway.

Absolutely awesome!
Cuckoo” shepherds hut is completely charming and cosy with picturesque views across the valley. Inside is warm, beautifully designed with extra special finishing touches. Super comfortable bed and great shower with plentiful hot water on tap! Cotton robes were provided to use for going to the hot tub which was amazing, too! I also loved that fact that eco/hand made products were provided for use, during my stay. Great base for visiting the waterfalls and exploring the surrounding valley. The local village is pretty and home to a friendly Café serving Welsh breakfasts and tasty home baked treats. Also a fab Butchers, fish n chip shop and an interesting gift shop selling hand made crafts from local villages. The village is a good walk down the lane and along a public footpath through sheep fields and little woodland. Heather and Graeme have carefully thought about everything to create a homely and relaxing welcome at Wild Valley Huts. Even dog bowels, blankets and a “dog library” of toys! They were always happy to help me if I needed anything. I couldn’t have wished for anything more. I have left feeling totally relaxed, inspired and will hold many treasured memories of this special place. Xena

Lovely quiet site not far from a village with good shops and other facilities, also not far from Pistyll Rhaeadr.
Llyn Vyrnwy half an hour's drive. Very easy to find on Google maps Dog loved the hut and the dog library, generally the property was very dog friendly with bowls and a dog blanket. We loved the hot tub and the wood burning stove, and the bad and pillows were amazingly comfy. Not keen on the rain shower or very small sink, but personal preference. Lane up from village was tough going sometimes. Internet was off for a day but a surprise bottle of birthday prosecco made up for it. Fresh bread was fantastic. Great for a weekend or midweek break.

The property was amazing!
Loved the location. Booked this on a whim at 3am peaceful and perfect. My partner is allergic to feathers so pillows were removed before we arrived. Nothing was too much. Fresh bread was a nice touch. Hot tub didn't get warm enough the 2nd day maybe due to the local water source / heating system. Still can't fault it. You need to stay here if you want to sit back and unwind. We will be back

We had an amazing stay at Cuckoo hut - It is a perfect getaway spot for a relaxing holiday and has plenty to do nearby!
The inclusion for dogs as part of the holiday is better than what we have ever seen - The dog toy library and enclosed field space definitely kept our dog entertained! We also loved meeting Goose and Maverick as the resident dogs. Our only feedback is that it would be nice to have more hooks to hang wet clothes for rainy stays but other than that, amazing! There are lots of local attractions within a close distance making guests able to choose from full relaxation at the huts or intwine it with local visits too. The dog library has been a success with dogs. We're sorry it may have been lacking in toys. Some are in the field and we're not sure where they are. As the grass dies back now, we'll be able to find them (fingers crossed) or buy some more, which will be much to the enjoyment of our dogs (Maverick & Goose). We spent a fabulous midweek break at the Cuckoo Hut. When we arrived the hut was beautifully prepared; spotless. Really nice touches. Fresh bread in the bread box, a 'dog throw' for the bed. The hot tub was on and ready. The king-size bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space for 2 people and our 2 dogs. Bathroom was just right. The decking was perfect for the dogs and well enclosed. Very easy to walk from the door around the surrounding lanes. Quick drive to other stunning walks. Just so peaceful. H and G are fabulous hosts and very thoughtful (kindly gave us some Rhubarb to take home). This is such a nice place. We would definitely recommend and hope to return ourselves.

We had a great stay at Wild Valley Huts.
We stayed in the Cukoo lodge and it was (in our opinion) the best property on the site. The views were stunning, it was cosy and the local walks were great. On arrival, the owners had made us some bread which was a very nice touch, it was still warm when we arrived. Heather and Graeme were excellent hosts, very friendly and came and chatted with us before we left. The hot tub was the icing on the cake and we were in it every night. We will most definitely be returning in the future.

Lovely relaxing holiday in peaceful rural setting.
Shepherds hut was great, very compact with everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Heather and Graeme were great hosts, welcoming and unobtrusive. Freshly baked bread a lovely treat. Very dog friendly, walks from the door, ideally situated for adventures further afield. British weather came to the party as well so 5 stars from me.

We had the best stay as a little baby moon.
The hut is gorgeous with everything that you need, the outside space is perfect for relaxing in the evenings. Heather couldn’t have been more helpful if she tried, going above and beyond. We will certainly be back, with a little one in tow!

Very clean, very well equipped and maintained.
Extras like a cafetière and corkscrew which are often missing in many properties. Felt luxurious and homely.

A fantastic location.
The accommodation was spotless the owners Heather and Graeme were amazing. Welcomed us with fresh warm bread on arrival. Willing to offer advice on particular walking routes. Set in a tranquil beautiful valley the scenery is absolutely stunning. Sunrise and sunsets were awesome and the zero light pollution was exquisite for star gazing. Flo (our Border Collie) loved the safe dog friendly environment and meeting the owners 2 dogs "Maverick and Goose" Thank for a truly memorable short holiday and will definitely be back again.

Loved my stay at Wild Valley Huts.
I stayed in Cuckoo Hut with my dog Bruno whilst my mum stayed over in the bunkhouse. Cuckoo hut was perfect. Clean, bed was comfy and had great facilities. Had a lovely friendly welcome from owners as well. Is dog friendly too with a field onsite fot them too. Bowls are also provided for dogs too which is a nice touch. Lots to do in nearby areas. We went into Llangollen, to lake Vyrnwy and iron works museum all of which were around 30 min drive away but well worth it. Amazing scenery and it was lambing season so got to see lots of lambs. Such a peaceful atmosphere will stay again and recommend you in the future too. Thanks again for a lovely stay here.

We have just returned home from our 4 night stay.
Graeme and Heather were very welcoming and attentive. Accommodation itself was spotless, we have had everything we needed for self catering holiday. We stayed in the Cuckoo hut. Location itself was perfect for us, as we wanted to escape the busy city life and have some quiet quality time together exploring but also being lazy and relax. We will be definitely recomending and visiting again as for us it was perfect getaway!

Wild Valley Huts is the most beautiful place for anyone who wants to get off grid and unwind, surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and wildlife.
The owners are extremely helpful, it was an education for me to learn more about climate change, having an informative hand book that provides you with lots of advice and tips on blending into the environment, leaving things as we find them, leaving no footprints, and the efforts that the owners go to to make sure they are economically greener with an emphasis on biodegradable products and immaculate grounds. There is a small greenhouse where you can find lots of different vegetables and herbs growing and some plants are for sale too! When we arrived, the owners provided us with a bouquet of roses and chocolates, local specialty cheese & biscuits to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Zero light pollution = great for anyone who likes to watch the amazing array of Birds that live here. This is our 2nd visit to Wild Valley Huts, we stayed in Red Kite in June and just returned from an amazing week of pure relaxation, staying at Cuckoo. So many points of interest, we enjoyed Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall, 240ft mountain waterfall, with a tea room. Wild Valley Huts nearest village is Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 2.5 mls down hill. The Village Square has all the essential facilities you will need to make your stay more comfortable with an award winning Butchers, post office, spar and craft shop, indian takeout and 2 public houses, one with an open fire, while the other does food too! The Fish & Chip shop is extremely popular and we enjoyed our hot chips and curry sauce after cool days walking and exploring. I would highly recommend you stay here if you want to get away and enjoy the nature and wildlife in abundance.

My partner and I were lucky enough to have chosen Cuckoo with Sykes cottages, we found the cottage very clean, and in beautiful surroundings, we met the owners who were very friendly, and will definitely be going back, but anyone that’s looking for a quick break to get away from everything and everybody I would fully recommend,, I also give my permission for any of these comments to be used for advertising or recommendations .

We stayed at the Cuckoo shepherds hut and we were amazed at how lovely this place was.

So worth the money for the beautiful scenery and environment surrounding the hut! Great place for dogs too! My dog had the best stay and we can’t wait to book again for the future!

Hi, Thank you!! It was a pleasure having you stay. We're glad you enjoyed it. Re the red kites, they were cutting grass the last few weeks in June / first week in July. That was a real treat for seeing the Red Kites - a good 7 or 8 of them were just hovering over the fields. From the decking the views are beautiful and for guests they never change during your stay. It is very quiet round here and we're glad you enjoyed that tranquility. However, a couple of days after you left they were sheep shearing on the local farm. When the sheep have been sheared and put back out, it's not so quiet then :) Still a lovely sound to hear. A really peaceful and tranquil location to relax or to enjoy the excellent walking routes.
Sat on the deck all you can hear are sheep, birds and the stream below - heavenly! The hut is well thought out and everything is provided. We had to make use of the heating despite it being June but it made the hut toasty warm. The shower is great and there was plenty of hot water on demand. No phone signal at all (bliss) but the wi-fi at the hut is plenty strong enough for streaming i-player etc. Our only tiny negative was there are no comfortable chairs inside - the stools are ok for short use but not if you're sat playing card games when it's raining like we did! Some tips for other travellers - the Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall is well worth a visit as are Chirk and Powis castles (both National Trust and well within an hour's drive away). Oh and just to note that the roads around the hut are unsuitable for vehicles with low ground clearance. We had a lovely break at Cuckoo and would heartily recommend it!
Hi Carol, Thank you for your lovely comments about the Cuckoo Hut and your stay there. We are glad you had a great stay! It is an idylic location and we just want guests to be part of that too. I loved your line about 'using the heating even in June.' The weather has been surprising this year but you're right it is a super cosy, toasty hut when you're snuggled in. We appreciate your comment about the comfy chairs. We've had a look at possible tub chairs and will continue to look into it. Quick question... do you think it was more there being no back to the stools or general comfort being more in a chair than stool? Best wishes

So cosy and comfortable and impossibly clean. Fantastic location, the only sounds to be heard are the stream and the sheep in the opposite field. Heather and Graeme were such great hosts, so friendly, helpful and genuinely want their guests to have a great experience - the croissants were fab !
