Brecknock Cheviot - The Sheepfold

Absolutely beautiful!

!! I would highly recommend anyone to stay here, it was brilliant from start to finish. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with a lovely basket that included a bottle of wine, crisps, and some snacks, along with helpful leaflets about the local area. It was such a thoughtful and personal touch that made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I genuinely couldn't fault the property, It had everything we needed and most importantly, it was absolutely spotless! The accommodation was very spacious, with plenty of room to cook and relax, and we loved making the most of the large outdoor space during the warm weather this recent weekend. I stayed in the double bedroom in the attic, and the bed was so comfortable... It was very peaceful even with the windows open and I had a great sleep on both nights. The location was perfect too as there were local supermarkets just a short drive away, plenty of beautiful walking trails nearby, and being right in the heart of Wales made it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. We had such a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. 11/10 for me :)

Also close to some lovely places for a walk. The secure garden was great for dogs as well.

Great place to stay everything you need clean comfy and welcoming the garden is perfect for the dog to run around it is well enclosed, the views are good, the only thing that was missing for me was that there was no cover over the hot tub to shade you from the sun but from 16:00 you are protected by the house roof as the sun sets it is fenced off for privacy which is good.

I would recommend to others and definitely stay again myself, lovely little get away.

We booked this accommodation for a family reunion over the Easter break.

While we felt it was quite expensive, we decided to treat ourselves, which naturally meant our expectations were high. We had stayed somewhere similar in 2025 for around half the price, so inevitably we were comparing the two. Our first impressions were very positive. The house itself is lovely, the hot tub was excellent, and the views were beautiful. It’s also ideally located close to town, making it convenient to pop to the supermarket for anything we’d forgotten. However, there were a few aspects that disappointed us. The grass was quite long on arrival, which was a shame, particularly given the nice weather forecast. There were also some essential items missing — no disinfectant spray, meaning the kitchen could only be cleaned with a washing-up sponge, and no bin bags, which made tidying up difficult. These are small but essential items, and it was disappointing that they weren’t provided. A travel cot was supplied, which we appreciated, but I would say it’s only suitable for a baby under one year old. Our one-year-old had outgrown it and didn’t sleep particularly well as a result. I was also expecting to find a welcome booklet but couldn’t see one, so we weren’t sure what was expected on departure, such as whether bedding needed to be stripped. With a few small improvements, this could be a lovely place to stay. However, I don’t feel it offered value for the price we paid. We looked at booking again next year, but over £1,000 for three days feels extremely steep for what is provided. Also, when contacting the owners prior to arrival, I found their responses by abrupt.

A beautiful place to stay with everything you could possibly need. Everything is thought through - enough towels for showering and the hot tub, glasses for the hot tub, kitchen with everything you need to cook meals and a great sized hot tub and enclosed garden. The best we’ve stayed at and would 100% recommend. We will definitely be booking again!

We had an amazing week.

Everything we needed was provided from dishwasher tablets, a vacuum, to hand soap and kitchen roll, not often places provide these so it was a great touch. The garden and hot tub were amazing, our two small dogs loved charging around ( Please bear in mind if you have little dogs the tops of the gates are a perfect escape route if you so happen to leave the dogs with the spare human to pop to the shop). Please also bear in mind if you have dogs that are used to being allowed on the furniture the sofas are cream, we took blankets to cover them just incase one of them did charge in from the outside and on the sofas before we could stop them. We went with our 2 teen girls and they loved looking at the sheep, using the hot tub and looking at the views through the massive window. Its in a great spot, close enough to shops but not on top of them, and a great place to be based to travel to some of Wales must sees. The only negatives we do have are the flies, yes we understood its on a farm but they were all over the mezzanine and windows and not just 1 or 2. Once we had worked out they were coming in through the window vents , (after opening a window and being greated by at least twenty coming in through the gap.) We closed the vents and managed to reduce the numbers but we're still hoovering up dead flies regularly. The second negative was the i assume owner turning up on day 2 and walking straight up to the glass front to ask if we had found a set of keys, we understand this occasionally happens but you can see all the way though the property from the glass doors and had someone not been appropriately dressed or in the hot tub it would have been embarrasing, perhaps a courtesy call to let guests know prior to arrival. Overall amazing experience and we would return at a different time of you to enjoy the beauty of Wales in a different season and I have recommended the sheepfold to friends and family.

We had a great 4 days at the property.

The enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs and us humans loved the hot tub and peaceful surroundings.

This was our second visit to Brecknock Cheviot and again it didn't disappoint.

Beautiful accommodation in beautiful surroundings. We have already booked for the same time next year. Due to the unpredictable Welsh weather we were unable to use the hot tub as much as we would have liked. Some sort of cover would have made it more accessible as it is the biggest attraction for us in terms of the property.

The property is fantastic.

It is very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything guests may need during their stay. The property was lovely and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub is big and the garden is huge, so plenty of room for dogs and children to run about. The views from the property are amazing and it’s in a great position for exploring the Elan Valley. The owner was lovely and helpful and they provided a welcome pack, which was very much appreciated. I would highly recommend this property.

The property was clean and tidy, the garden and hot tub were both good.

However there was a wasps nest next to the property which was reported but didn't really see a resolution, it was still there when we left. In the upstairs ensuite there was a sewage smell coming back through the plug holes, we had to keep the door shut at night so it didn't smell so much in the bedroom. The upstairs bedroom was much smaller than anticipated, had to bend down the whole time to get around and no room or storage are for any clothes. A set of oven gloves would be good as would a washing line to dry your clothes in the garden. Finally the garden gate latch needed refitting as you could not keep the gate shut and with a dog that's a concern.

Wonderful lodge, couldn't ask for more.

Peaceful & ideal for our dogs in the large secure garden. Our second visit which didn't disappoint. Relaxing in the hot tub star gazing is a great way to end your day.

Absolutely lovely place for our week’s stay.

Beds were lovely and comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped but it could have done with some oven gloves. The small garden was well maintained and was very private. Would not hesitate from staying here again

We had a lovely 2 night stay, the only down fall was we couldn’t use the hottub on the first night as it was too cold, so only ended up having 1 night in there☹️

Hot Tub is definitely worth the 2 hour trip we took to this property ! Can’t wait to come back again , would reccomend to anyone :)

We really could not fault our stay at the sheepfold.

From the moment we stepped foot inside the massive garden (which the dogs loved) and the spacious lodge we had the most incredible time. The view is spectacular especially sitting in the hot tub. The lodge was well equipped with everything we needed and the goodies and dog treats were much appreciated. The beds were super comfortable, the shower was great and the hot tub even better! WiFi was also perfect and really fast. The lodge was in a lovely location not far from many great hikes and also shops if needed. We will be recommending the sheepfold to family and friends and will 100% be returning for another stay.

Had an amazing stay at the Sheepfold.

We stayed in Brecknock Cheviot. The lodge was absolutely spotless. In a fab location out in the Countryside, the area was very tranquil and the lodge was surrounded by fields of sheep. The photos really dont do this place justice. The hottub was amazing, we went in every day and enjoyed the views which go on for miles, as well as Red Kite spotting. Beds were very comfy, as were the sofas in the evening. The upstairs bath tub was also amazing, so relaxing. Lots to do a short drive away, some lovely walks (reccommend Elan Valley, the dams were crazy). Only constructive feedback we would bring up is the lack of dressing gowns for the hottub as it was freezing out, but appreciate that the lodge sleeps up to 6 this is understandable. Would definitely reccommend these lodges, excellent facilities, had everything we needed for the week. Would definitely return. Thank you for a great week.

Overall, our stay at the cabin was really nice and relaxing.

They had everything we needed and then some. The hot tub was amazing and Seeing the sunrise In the morning made everything else special. I had gone with five of my friends to celebrate my birthday and we all agree that we would definitely do it again.

We try to travel once a month around the UK and this has been the one where I was sad to leave and go home!

The views are spectacular and the house is finished to an amazing standard! The garden is private without restricting the views and the hot tub is huge, allowing for everyone to fit in comfortably. If I had to try and find a criticism it would be that there wasn’t a whisk in the kitchen! Honestly, one of the best we’ve stayed in ❤️

This is a truly amazing property to stay in.

It was so clean and spotless everywhere. The cupboards had everything that you and your family would need to make it home from home. It had little extras to help you when you first arrive, such as tea, coffee etc. cleaning supplies such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, sponge etc. hand wash in all the bathrooms. There was a really special welcome basket which was such a wonderful gift and really appreciated. The hot tub was all set up and ready to use, along with a basket of towels and plastic glasses for when you are using it. The view was outstanding!!! The garden was completely secure to let your two dogs have an amazing time also. I can’t rate this property high enough. A must for anyone wanting a stress free holiday. A huge thank you to the owners for creating such an idyllic holiday home in such a peaceful and picturesque place.

All furniture and fittings were of highstandard so very dissappointing to find lack of basics.

. eg no shaver point, needed for toothbrushes and towel hook in bathroom. Bedrooms also lacked hanging places plus storage. No mirror in twin bedroom. USB charging sockets very sparse. Mezzanine bedroom lacked sockets headboard end also to reiterate nowhere to hang clothes. I do think these points need to be addressed in the future.

We had a lovely stay at the lodge.

The area was beautiful and so quiet. The lodge was clean and modern and very comfortable. The beds are very comfy and I had a very good nights sleep. The welcome basket was appreciated as well as the basket for hot tub towels. The dog loved the enclosed garden and we all thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. I 100% recommend this property and will be returning in the future.

Very quiet surroundings with plenty to do in the town, which is all but 5 minutes away. Tesco and Aldi are also 5 minutes up the road. My family and I enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again in the future.

Enjoyed our stay, only things I'd say is it would have been good to have maybe hangers on doors in bedrooms, maybe wardrobe or similar in all bedrooms for clothes and some hooks near jacuzzi to hang towels, we would definitely return

We had a lovely stay here for my birthday, Views were lovely, the beds were so comfy, everything was very clean, just a couple of things would of made our stay even better, there were no Prosecco glasses so had to drink our Prosecco/ champagne out of wine glasses which didn’t feel right to me!

( a minor detail to some) we were left a tad disappointed with the hot tub, our water had gone very murky (almost a light green) and when we contacted the owners we were told it was because we had the water to hot, not to sure why we were able to set it at that temperature if we wasn’t meant to, it put us off going in there even though we were assured it was safe, if we wanted it emptied and re filled we would of had to of paid, as it was our last day we didn’t opt for this. Welcome pack was a nice touch. Thank you

Absolutely lovely week at the Brecknock Cheviot .

Lovely views really peaceful, Barney our little dog loved it very secure. Loving kitchen and living area and to top it of hot tub was a delight. Went to the pub a mile walk away with the dog all very friendly and lovely food we will be back.

Amazing accommodation and beautiful location.

We had a few maintenance issues during our stay but they were put right immediately so no complaints from us. Location felt rural but only 5 minutes drive to the nearest pub or superstore. Needed a mirror in the upstairs bedroom and maybe some underbed storage due to the shape of the room. It was stunning and the hot tub was enjoyed.. even in the rain (maybe could consider a canopy of such) The basket for hot tub towels and glasses was also a nice touch! We had a fabulous stay.. so much to do and just a beautiful setting. We met the owners and they were lovely. The welcome basket was a lovely gesture and well received. Thank you for an amazing week!

We absolutely loved staying here and couldn’t fault a thing.

The owner made us feel very welcome and gave us some useful information on the area. The minute we stepped through the door it felt like home. The views were amazing and couldn’t help waking early to watch the sun rise from my bed. My daughter bought her fur babies who enjoyed the large garden where they were safe to roam especially when we were outside relaxing in the large hot tub. We highly recommend and would love to return with the rest of our family to make more special memories.

Wales and Welsh hospitality at its finest.

Family of 4 plus one crazy dog had an amazing time in Brecknock Cheviot over the February half term. The house had everything we needed and was immaculate inside and out. Beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had all the kit we needed and the washer/dryer was very useful with the weather. The outdoor space provided all we needed: hot tub for us, secure garden space for the dog. The hosts were exceptional and made our stay a very special one. Cannot recommend this place highly enough as a rural base to explore mid Wales.

Fabulous property, decorated and cleaned to a high spec!

Location is stunning and we loved watching the red kites whilst enjoying the hot tub, plus only a 5 minute drive to the nearest town. The property is private with plenty of space. Perfect for a getaway with friends or family. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at the sheep fold!

The owners were lovely and checked we had everything we needed and the accommodation was completely to a very high standard - by far the nicest place we’ve ever stayed at! It’s rare I’ve ever found a place with genuinely comfy beds with decent pillows and I’m not coming home with back ache! The location was also brilliant! 20 minutes to Elan Valley and about an hour to pen y fan! We had two dogs (Dobermans) staying and the owners weren’t even phased by that which was amazing as some places can be funny with the breed of dog! The secure garden was also great for peace of mind that the dogs could just wonder and not get out!

This isn't a criticism but would like information about local area and what it has to offer :I've pubs,taxi numbers, takeaways etc Also information re recycling our waste . I would have liked a mirror in every bedroom or one in the living area. A lovely welcome gift was left which was a great touch and we met our host who was lovely. Spacious, secure garden and parking space for 3 to 4 ,cars

We stayed here for what was a short break as a couple, and it was a really lovely getaway.

Luxurious and stylish, and sufficiently individual to make it stand out from the pack. I've sent the link to all of my friends to recommend it. I'd definitely recommend staying here. It's remote in feel, but sufficiently close to civilisation that you can be at a nice pub or a big supermarket within a few minutes. It was nice to meet the owners and learn about the development. They should feel proud of what they've created. My only gripe is with Sykes (not the owners i must stress). It was galling to pay only £30 less for 3 nights as 7 nights would have cost! Inflexible for a last minute booking. Tip. If you're going to Elan Valley (recommended), be wary that there is no clear basic path all the way round the dams/res as you'd expect. Leave enough time and daylight to detour around the hills and go cross country on the last stretch.

Wow, what a beautiful hidden gem!

! The property is absolutely beautiful, there is everything we needed in the property for our ultra comfortable stay. The views you won't get board of. It is warm even though it's spacious. The bed was comfortable and my partner even wants the pillows! The owners are just amazing human beings and will helped us out with our dog but prior to that Sally and Eddie came by to make sure everything was OK and we had everything we needed. Although the property is secluded but Tesco's and Aldi are only a 5 minute drive down the road! The garden is secure for your dogs to wander about and quiet a substantial size, an the neighbours are sheep.

It was a lovely property it was very easy to find in a good location, only a couple of miles from the nearest town with sufficient facilities.

The locals very helpful regarding suggestions on where to take the dog and everyone seemed to welcome the dog. The owners were also welcoming and didn't mind our boisterous dog

AMAZING WEEKEND GETAWAY, had the best time ever.

Everything you need is here, great little welcome pack and also tea coffee sugar. All fences are secure and dog safe. Hot tub is private and super easy to use. Eddy the owner checked everything was fine and asked if we needed anything, great guy and i will 100% be returning. The building is new and in immaculate condition. We spent most of our time at the house, and took the dog on walks local. Llandrindod lake was nice. We also grabbed food from ‘worth your salt’ which was amazing.

We have just got back from a 4 night stay at the Brecknock Cheviot lodge and it was absolutely amazing.

The lodge is immaculate. It is like brand new and it has beautiful views. We chose Wales, because we wanted somewhere with lots of walks for our Husky and it did not disappoint. The scenery is just breath-taking. We went for my husbands 40th, i contacted the owners to see if they could decorate the lodge for us arriving and they were very helpful and i couldn't thank them enough, they did an amazing job! We will definitely be back to stay!!

What am amazing place to stay, so peaceful and relaxing.

The house is immaculate and every little detail thought of we will definitely be returning. The dogs loved the very big enclosed garden too they were free to run around all day. Hot tub was amazing especially at night when it was all lit up, can’t wait to come back
