Tin Shed

Would recommend to anybody.

The property was stunning and the location was perfect. The property was clean, and had a real home from home feeling. All details had been thought about from decor to added extras. The hamper was a nice touch too. Bed was comfy and the view was well worth it. Hot tub was perfect and in a perfect location that you could see out to the sheep but also have the fire going. Will 1000% be back.

Really good place to stay if you are wanting to explore the elan valley and surrounding areas.

Property was a bit difficult to find from the owners directions, signage wasn't very prominent.

The external photos don't really reflect that there is a working yard one side and a derelict farmhouse the other, but at least neither is actually visible from inside. The window sills were very dusty, but the work going on outside creates a lot of dust, even so I wouldn't have expected that on our 1st day there. Don't expect to cook a meal that includes boiling anything on the hob as there were only frying pans. Luckily Rhayder has a great choice of eateries. Very little storage. It needs even a couple of bedside cabinets with drawers. Or a chest of drawers under the TV. Great that the TV was wall mounted so we could watch in bed. The property was warm, the bed comfy and the shower was good. It was lovely watching the lambs in the next field. The Alpacas were very interested in our dog. Kites were everywhere which was a delight. Unfortunately we never got to use the hot tub or fire pit due to the weather but great for star gazing when it wasn't cloudy overnight. This all may sound very negative but we had a lovely time and would stay again. It just needs a few tweaks.

Just such a cosy and beautiful cottage.

Me, my partner, and the 2 dogs loved every minute of it. To the open plan of the cottage overlooking sunny fields, to the beautiful location of nearby town of Rhayder. We just fell in love with everything and for sure we will come back again for a visit. Cannot recommend highly enough for anyone else to visit. If you want a quiet beautiful and relaxing place to put your feet up, then this is the place.

This was exceptional for this type of break,the facilities were good with more than adequate heating produced from the under floor heating,the kitchen area was well equipped even with oven which you generally dont always find,the lounge area was very comfortable,a good shower area was also good,Outside good enclosed area ideal for the dog,Hot tub good, shame about the advertised bath outside being out of commission,but excellent views all round,The Alpacas were interesting also.

The directions to the Tin Shed needs some updating as not easy to find, following those provided.

We genuinely enjoyed our stay at the Tin Shed.

The Shed itself was lovely, great facilities for cooking, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom and shower large and the hot tub was brilliant. I'd just provide a couple of small pieces of feedback: The outside bathtub does not work as the water pipe is split, no hot water is connected either. This either needs removing or repairing as my wife was very disappointed as she wanted a bath under the stars, yes I appreciate the hot tub is there, but a bath bomb, candles and a glass of champagne would have been nice on her birthday. A freezer or something way to have frozen goods or ice for drinks would be a good shout, a small chest freezer perhaps? Tie backs for the big double opening doors, so these can be held open on the outside to let the place cool down. If it's breezy, they can be blown open and shut violently. A heated towel rail so on cold or rainy days the towels can dry inside, we were lucky we had good weather but it may not always be that way, or fresh towels every few days. There is a working yard, this didn't really bother us but there is an empty farmhouse to the left of the property as you look at it, if you're wanting aesthetic photos of the views, that will most likely be there too. Not an issue for us but I know some people could be put off. Please note that as I first put on here, we loved our stay and absolutely would visit again. Just a few things to consider to really give it (as we thought) all it needed.

Few Things to Be Aware Of We stayed during a period of unusually hot weather, which did affect our overall comfort.

The accommodation is next to a working yard, which wasn’t visible in the photos. During the heat, vehicles going in and out stirred up quite a bit of dust, which made it hard to enjoy sitting outside at times. The hot tub itself was a nice feature, but it's worth noting that the view includes a nearby pylon and a derelict building, which took away a little from the relaxing atmosphere. There was also a tin bath outside which my husband had been looking forward to using, but we found out on arrival it had been broken for a while. It would’ve been helpful to have been told about this in advance. The owner does check the hot tub daily, which we understand is for maintenance and hygiene, but we felt it would have been better with a little notice beforehand, just to respect guests' privacy. Also, because of the heat, the tin construction of the property meant it got extremely warm inside during the day—so much so that we found ourselves needing to head out to stay cool. This may not be an issue in cooler months, but it’s something to consider if booking during hot weather. Overall, the property has potential, but there are a few details future guests may want to keep in mind depending on the time of year.

Our stay was a pleasant one.

But I would like to bring your attention to the following things. The first few days we had livestock ( sheep) in the field next to us which was ok, But there were so many flies

Wasn't easy to find, no where near the directions they gave.

However its a beautiful place with loads of breathtaking views and walks. Would definitely go again.

Had everything you need, no freezer section in the fridge but not a problem.

The Tin Shed is a very nice and well equipped property, although it is let down by a lack of storage space, which would make staying any more than a few days difficult, also there wasn't any WiFi although managed without as data signal was ok.

As other customers have said some of the appliances especially the fridge and clock are quite noisy at night. My biggest issue is however that I feel the description given on the Sykes site is not fully accurate. It is implied that the Tim Shed is located with the other Cae Llyn lodges, and the directions given by Sykes are to that location, however this is not the case it is on its own on a separate site about 3/4 of a mile away and quite close to the A44. Further to this I believe that the photographs and description of the location are a bit disingenuous, it should be made clear that the property is located next to an industrial site with a sawmill working between 0800 and 1700 each day and a large equipment yard for an excavation firm just over the garden fence, with heavy vehicles operating from early morning until at least 6pm. Additionally the 'stunning views' of the local countryside are blocked by a huge pile of builders rubbish that has obliviously been ripped out of the derelict house next door. In summary a nice property in a lovely part of the world let down by its' immediate location and although I would visit the area again I wouldn't stay in the Tin Shed.

Beautiful location.

Stunning scenery. Great little accommodation. Very quiet and peaceful. No need to visit the Red Kite place as you’ll see them flying over the property day and night. Stunning to watch. Near by dams a must see. Great if you’re not big into walking as all accessible by car. Property very secure for our little fur baby not to escape, something I was very worried about. Really well thought out. Would like to return in the summer as we did have a lot of rain but that’s no one’s fault, just the time of year. Highly recommend.

An amazing place.

Extremely peaceful with very little farm activity during our stay. The ‘Shed’ was well equipped, even to the extent that they provided sticks for toasting your marshmallows over the fire pit should you wish to (wood for the fire pit also provided). When we arrived, there was milk in the fridge and some local treats, which was a nice touch. The hot tub was set up ready for use and was especially welcome after a day out around the dams or visiting various nature reserves. All in all an extremely comfortable, clean, peaceful and relaxing place to stay with the added attraction of Red Kites flying overhead. We would highly recommended the Tin Shed.

Everything was fantastic, the whole place was immaculate when we arrived, the location was perfect for the walks we wanted to do, and we felt very welcomed when we arrived - the locally sourced snacks and drink were a great touch, along with buying eggs from the egg shed which were delicious!

We had a fantastic stay, the only thing that let it down was the bed, either it was an incredibly soft mattress or the bed was broken (it was incredibly creaky just from rolling over), but my other half and I have come away with pain in our backs from it. Otherwise it was an absolutely brilliant trip for us and we’d definitely come back and stay at the Tin Shed again

Internet was an issue and the bath leaked, but everything else was really good.

Very cozy, loved the hot tub! Great location for walking, we went to the Elan Valley on one day (about 15 minutes drive), and Pen Y Fan (about 50 minutes). The Tin Shed is set on a farm, it’s nice and quiet, private. The interior is very nicely decorated, the underfloor heating is lovely, everything you need for a kitchen, a cozy bed, sofa, and a smart tv! The outdoor is fully enclosed for the dogs, it’s not visible in the photos, but the fence does have wire mesh also, so they cannot get in between the slats. Took us a little while to find it as the map location on Sykes cottages website was wrong. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely stay here again. The only minor inconvenience was the WiFi wasn’t working when we visited, but luckily there was phone signal so we were able to hotspot the tv from our phones. The outdoor bath tap has also burst (presumably from freezing), however we just used the hot tub which was great

Where do I even start.

The nicest lodge we have every stayed in. The cleanliness is incomparable to anywhere we have ever stayed before and had absolutely everything we needed. The hamper on arrival with marshmallows and treats was such a nice, thoughtful touch. This place definitely made mine and my boyfriends New Year’s Eve the best we’ve ever had, especially going into the new year in the hot tub stargazing! Absolutely incredibly place, that felt like home away from home. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends/family and we will certainly be back! Thank you!

We had the most amazing 8 days at The Tin Shed with our two dogs.

The property is stunning - amazing views, extremely clean, perfectly furnished and well equipped. The isolation from the outside world is exactly what we needed - there was nobody around the entire time we were there. The surrounding area is ideal for people with dogs are there are so many stunning walks just down the road. The little touches such as the welcome hamper full of supplies, the dog treats, the dressing gown and smart TV really made the visit even better. The hot tub is fantastic for relaxing in after a long day walking - we were even treated to a meteor shower. We will absolutely recommend to all our friends and family!

The Tin Shed was a wonderful experience, quiet, warm, cozy and well presented.

The lady that comes and put chlorine in the jacuzzi are very professional and ensure you know they’re there before they come round back. I would give this a 10/10. Even though we did have issues with WiFi not being findable at all, this does not affect the score at all, it was fantastic and will 100% book again at some point.

Fantastic views, very quiet. The hot tub and the outside bath are both a great bonus and much needed after the long walks round Elan Valley. Will definitely be booking to come back. Xx

Tin Shed was glorious, so clean, tidy and EXACTLY like the photos, and couldn’t have asked for better weather, the hot tub was amazing, but they had thought of every detail and had some lovely gifts left to us by the owners! Thanks so much, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back, only thing to note is that the instructions to get actually get to Tin Shed were really vague, might be a good shout to put a sign on the A44 with an arrow pointing to it :) Many thanks!!!!
