“We have regularly rented cottages and lodges for more than 20 years, a lot of these being with Sykes.”

We have never in that time had to leave a bad review. Unfortunately 155 Woodland Hall (Lyons) has tipped that on its head! This lodge was the most neglected we have ever found with poor maintenance and totally inadequate, if existent, standards of cleaning. We would happily upload evidential photos of what we found however Sykes reviews do not support that - however there are other media platforms. Below are just the worst issues : There was food residue in the sink traps Frying pan had burnt on food/grease, lids were dirty Cup spillage left unwiped on bed side unit Somebody had kindly left some type of used gum guard on the bed side unit, mysteriously missed by cleaner! Freezer door seal was black with mould and inside of door was holed Food spillage left on microwave turntable plate Bits of dropped food left on kitchen stools which had filthy floor bases All chrome taps and fittings in bathrooms were marked with toothpaste and showing dirty watermarks; radiator top covered in rust Coffee/tea spillage runs down end of coffee table left uncleaned Highly suspicious stain on cushion Dead flies on floor - obviously not seen a hoover for some time Unfortunately this list is not exhaustive as many items were in poor repair or broken (shades, window blinds) or very tired. We advised Sykes and owner, also providing all photos while still there, but with no joy - just an offer for cleaner to call back!! Sorry, it would take a team of deep cleaners days to put this right. Despite Sykes WARNING that if we left we would be classed as a walk out we were in such a state that we just returned home and are now taking action to obtain refund which Sykes have refused.
