The holiday was great.

Location and site were fantastic however the lodge itself was rather disappointing. It was a functional place to stay but nothing more, nothing luxury. Nothing in there was clean. Cobwebs on the ceiling, walls dirty. The place obviously hasn’t been cleaned since the previous guest; hair all over the floor in every room, there was worn dirty underwear left in the drawer! Many things are broken in there. The bathroom light didn’t work. When I arrived the fridge freezer wasn’t even plugged in. There wasn’t even any toilet roll!! There and multiple other privately owned lodges in a row and this one unfortunately looks like the least well maintained one. We enjoyed our time but I wouldn’t book this particular lodge again.

On a positive the kids loved the shape and spiral staircase.

Layout worked well for us. Negative; Not clean, stairs dirty and not been hoovered. Cobwebs with spiders which boys did not like. Double bed unmade on arrival, spare sheets could only find a single and it was all creased and not very inviting. No oven gloves - dangerous getting things out of the oven/microwave. No bath mat -floor slippery and dangerous for boys when wet. No teaspoons - hard for the boys to eat yogurt and cereals. These niggles just took the edge off our stay.

We have been to this property before so we obviously like it which is why we returned.

The location is amazing and the chalet itself is cosy and has a certain charm. However, there were 3 main issues on our arrival: - Cleanliness. It was not good. Cobwebs and dead insects everywhere, dirty toilet. We had to clean the whole place from top to bottom. I have no doubt that somebody had charged the owners to clean the property but frankly they are ripping you off. It was not clean at all and you don't go on holiday to clean. - Shower wouldn't work. A plumber was sent by Menai Cottages and the issue was water pressure. It was fixed fairly immediately. As we didn't arrive until quite late on our first day, however, it was essentially day 3 before it was sorted. - WiFi broken. The owner drove all the way from Kent to fix this, which seemed above and beyond. Thank you, Andy. Again, it was essentially day 3 of a 7 night stay when it was sorted. Finally, there is a hole/tear in the fascia/soffit to the rear of the chalet and something is nesting in there. The rustling at night did keep me awake at times. All in all... the location is amazing (I can't overstate this enough, it's stunningly beautiful), the owners are extremely helpful and the use of their Friends and Family pass absolutely invaluable. The children loved the activities on this quite brilliant site. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen and living room well enough equipped. However, the property just feels as though it needs a little more TLC and, whilst we had a great time together as a family, we were a little disappointed overall with the property itself on this occasion.
