Badgers Sett

Brilliant peaceful and relaxing, only 1 gripe tho , i couldn't use the hot tub on the 3rd or the 4th day as there wasn't any chlorine and the warter had gone stale.

Couldn't falt the location or cleanliness of the cabin tho...

We had an amazing stay, lovely and relaxing everything was perfect, will definitely be back, thankyou so much

We have stayed many times before and absolutely love it.

We will be back again soon as it’s just a wonderful place to relax and unwind with such beautiful surroundings. So much thought and effort has been put taken and we had yet another perfect stay.

The hosts were amazing, very friendly and met us on arrival, even providing a large fan to help during the heatwave.

We loved our stay at The Badgers Sett!

The owners were super lovely and friendly. They were really helpful but also gave guests their privacy too. You're well located to lots of walks and we LOVED the hot tub and the gorgeous view for the evenings! The bag full of stuff for the dogs too borrow was also a lovely touch. The only reason I marked it a 4 star was the bed and storage. It was a super firm mattress which my husband didn't get on with at all so he didn't really sleep. That said, he does understand the mattress firmness is a very personal choice and you can't please everyone! ;) Would have been great to have had a little more storage as we found it hard to store all our stuff but we did have two people and two dogs with us!

We absolutely loved our stay here and will 100% be returning!

Mary and Steven were very helpful throughout the stay and the lodge was perfect. The lodge was super clean and equipped with everything we needed (milk in the fridge and the hot tub was already hot!) The lodge is very private and is perfect for the dog - He certainly didn't want to come home!

Another lovely week at Badgers Sett.

Everything you need for relaxing break is provided, with Mary and Steven the ideal hosts. Lots to see and do out and about, or just chill out and relax in the beautifully fitted out lodge. Can't wait to return.

Excellent stay at the Badgers set.

Been a few times to these cabins and they are excellent. Area and villages around are great, good places to visit locally. The Owners are really good to talk to, and if any issues they are sorted no problem. Great stay.

Lovely lodge, will definitely return.

This was our second time staying at this wonderful log cabin, and it was just as perfect as we remembered.

The cabin is cosy, spotless, and beautifully maintained, with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. The hot tub is still our absolute favourite part — warm, clean, and the perfect place to unwind while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. We spent every evening in it and loved every minute. The hosts continue to be fantastic: friendly, welcoming, and always quick to help if needed. You can really tell how much care they put into making the cabin a special place to stay. We’ll definitely be back again. It’s become our favourite little getaway, and we can’t recommend it enough!

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Badgers Sett.

We used the cabin as a base to explore Northumbria, but we had time to use their facilities one evening. The wood-fired hot tub was amazing, and the amenities inside the cabin were easy to use. Really friendly hosts who were on hand if needed. Great location with local historical sites nearby. All I would say is, once arrived, save a pin for the cabin as we found when coming back from our outings, we couldn’t locate the site well, due to it being a busy high-speed road, with little to no street lights. All in all, we would highly recommend this location and host and have already shared our experience with friends.

Steven and Mary were great hosts and what a beautiful lodge and grounds they have!

We had a fab time thank you so much again :)

Hi Steven and Mary, Well where do I start the cabins are perfectly situated and very secluded if you like the country side you’re going to love this place I treat it like my second home, there is a big field for your dog dogs to run around in and only short drive to the nearest town, any issues you may have Steven or Mary are more than happy to help for instance Mary lending me tools to repair my car, but Vinnie is a big lad and sometimes he brakes my bumper jumping in the boot of my car, already booked 2 more times not long into the new year and many more to book looking forward to seeing you again I’m guessing Vinnie as well.

All the best Andrew and Vinnie

This is now the 3rd time my fiancée and dog has been here and yet again, top class hospitality from Steven and Mary.

Very nice friendly people and the place is extremely clean and cosy. I really can’t fault this place. Unfortunately my fiancée is pregnant and expecting in March and unsure if they allow infants to attend or we would be back for sure.

Another wonderfully relaxing week at Badgers Sett, despite the stormy weather.

Everything you would need is provided and Mary & Steven are great hosts, always welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended for a getaway break.

Fabulous place to stay - cabin immaculate and lovely hosts.

Fantastic setting and lovely, cosy, well kept accommodation.

Very friendly and welcoming host who called on the day to check if we wanted the hot tub heated for arrival. We were thoroughly happy with our visit and will definitely be back.

Booking was easy, hosts were fantastic, little lodge was beautiful

Hi Steven and Mary, perfectly situated on a rural working farm the view is amazing I love walking in the field, It feels like my second home Regards Vinnie

What a lovely place to stay.

5 star all the way. Can’t wait to return. We were made to feel so welcome and the owners go above and beyond.

Wow, what a beautiful place to stay, we have stayed in numerous holiday cottage’s and the Badgers Sett is by far the best.

A beautiful log cabin set in a very tranquil and private area. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cabin has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The hot tub was very relaxing after a day exploring all the area has to offer. We can’t wait to return

The cabin was well-kept and had everything that I needed.

This was well thought out. The farmer and his wife were as beautiful as the landscape. 10 out of 10. I will be going back again soon. I use public transport but while out I was given a lift back. When I got off the train Steven phoned to ask where I was. He had been in town on business and gave me a lift. I can't say just how grateful I felt. I had been on a hot train and was having a lift in an air-conditioned car. A beautiful start to my holiday. I have happy memories. Bless✌️❤️

We had an absolutely amazing time.

So peaceful and relaxing, the hot tub was a massive bonus. We've never been so relaxed. We had everything we needed and more. Badger sett was spotless and very cosy. Best night's sleep ever. Steven and Mary were so welcoming, they went above and beyond to make our stay prefect. We will definitely be returning

Had an excellent stay at Badgers Sett.

Lodge was beautifully maintained, and owners were friendly and advised on where to visit during our stay. Thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing week. Big THANK YOU to Steven & Mary.

Came here for a 2 nights to relax before a busy summer ahead and thats exactly what we did.

Hot tub already heated for us arriving and prosecco chilled in the fridge. Wonderful hosts and wonderful scenery.

We have had another wonderful week at badgers sett.

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the place to be. Mary and Steven are excellent hosts and they are very welcoming and friendly. We will be back in the near future.

We’ve had an amazing few days here.

The farm setting is beautiful, with plenty of nearby adventures to enjoy with the dog. It’s also a lovely place to relax after a day of walking. The owners are fantastic—helpful, but never intrusive. For us, it was a dream location, and we’ll definitely be returning

Fantastic location, very friendly and welcoming Host, Hot tub was already ready to go when we arrived, nice touches with Milk and Buiscuits even wine in the fridge

Excellent lodge, great facilities got an early check in after a quick message and they had the hot tub ready Highly recommended superb

A lovely weekend get away.

The family were so warm and welcoming, cabin was immaculate and so cosy with beautiful views. Hot tub was also great, we didn’t want to leave. Some really lovely surrounding walks & great pubs too Couldn’t recommend it enough Thanks for having us!

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at Badgers Sett in Winston.

The lodge is cozy, well-equipped, and perfect for unwinding, surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. It’s also in a great spot for exploring, with Raby Castle and Barnard Castle just a short drive away, plus many places to eat nearby. One of our highlights was parking at Bowlees Visitor Centre, then walking from Low Force waterfall on to High Force waterfall and back one afternoon, a stunning route! The owners, Mary and Steve, were so welcoming, contacting us before our stay to see if we wanted the hot tub ready for our arrival, then on arrival we found a few lovely touch’s, such as milk, biscuits, tea/coffee, and a couple of bottles of fizz waiting for us. If you’re looking for a relaxing break with thoughtful hosts and plenty to see nearby, this is a fantastic choice!

Beautiful cabin with everything thought of for your stay.

Super clean loved every minute of our stay ❤️

The only way our stay could have been better would have been for us to stay longer.

The cabin was beautifully positioned for privacy and so well presented it felt like we were the first guests to use it. Our hosts were helpful and friendly We can not recommend it enough.

What a lovely place to stay In a beautiful setting.

Exceeded our expectations. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We look forward to enjoying another stay in the future. Jennifer and Stephen

Had a lovely time great to get away for New Year owner's were very welcoming hut had everything you needed would definitely stay again

An absolutley fantastic get away.

Stevens hospitality is superb, having the hot tub fresh and ready upon our arrival. We even got a call from him saying the cabin was ready much earlier which is superb service in itself. Beautiful scenery tranquil and calming. Would recommend badgers sett to anybody.

We had a 2 night stay and really enjoyed it The owner Stephen was amazing and was on hand if there was any issues which there was not.

Highly recommended

Had a fantastic stay.

The cabin was unbelievably cosy and clean with amazing views. Steven was excellent and went the extra mile to call us the morning of our stay to alert us to the road conditions as it was snowing all night. Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay again. No complaints. Totally understand the fire place just needed a professional to look at it, these things happen. Thanks again for allowing us to do a change over with my mum and her partner. We will be back!

Stayed for a 4 night break with our dog and absolutely can not recommend this place enough.

Fantastic hosts and superb accommodation. The attention to detail was amazing - even given dog towels and rugs. Hot tub ready for us on arrival. Great walks and attractions close by and access to fields from the accommodation. This truly was a gem of a find. Absolutely faultless. Don’t hesitate to book!

The perfect place for a break.

Beautiful lodge, very authentically furnished. Perfectly appointed with everything we needed. We loved the views from the hot tub. Little touches set accommodation apart nowadays and this had some which was welcomed. Our hosts were very friendly and even had our hot tub ready to get straight into on arrival.

Hi Steven & Mary The cabin is perfect and perfectly situated, very well maintained, the views are amazing and very rural with only a short drive to the nearest town, if you’re a dog owner it’s perfect, there’s a huge field for a huge dog to run free.

Best Regards, Vinnie

Another fantastic stay in the Badgers Sett.

This has to be one of thee most peaceful and tranquil locations I have ever stayed. Definitely an added bonus that we can bring the dog along too. It wont be our last visit that's for sure. Whilst a short drive plenty of places to eat, and places to visit the lodges themselves are so quiet with the only noise coming from the local wildlife - bliss. Home from home with everything thought of, well equipped kitchen (better choice of utensils than my own!) all I need to do is pack clothes and food, perfect. Steve welcomed us for both of our stays and ensured the hot tub was ready for us arriving. Looking foreward to the next visit.

Where do I start?

! We arrived and was greeted by the host, Steven. Lovely welcome and show around the lodge and area. We are used to going to caravan holidays and the lodge was kitted out with way more than we expected. It is a home away from home and will recommend to all friends and family. Thank you Steven and Mary! Until next time! Michelle, David and Amber

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Badgers Sett and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the thoughtful and stylish design of the entire space. The attention to detail is truly impressive, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

Fabulous setting, very tranquil.

had a wonderful holiday and our hosts Mary and Steve are could not have done more for us. Thank you.

Well What can I say 2nd time here within 5 months, it’s so tranquil you can hear birds land on the cabin, when I look outside all I see is fields and lambs and the sound of birds and a small water fall in the distance, Steven & Mary have been very welcoming with a big welcome package for me and Vinnie

The Badgers sett was the perfect get away.

Idyllic location and the lodge was exactly as described. Was lovely sitting on the veranda of an evening listening to the river and the wildlife. This truly is a peaceful retreat. The lodge was perfectly equipped with all the essentials we required, wifi worked well and the hot tub and fire were cosy. Wood, sticks and fire lighters are all provided for the hot tub which was amazing. Car parking was great with each lodge having its own allocated parking. Lots of amazing walks right on the doorstep. Steven was friendly and informative. He made us feel right at home and couldnt of been more helpful. Will definitely be returning soon.

Absolutely stunning place.

Plenty of walks, loads of privacy and quietness. These cottages are very well looked after by Steven and his wife, we'll definitely come back!

If you are looking for a relaxing "away from it all" break, this is THE place to go.

The cabins are beautifully fitted out with everything you need including a privately positioned wood fired hot tub. Love sitting out on the porch in the evening just listening to the wildlife and nearby river. To top it all, the hosts Steven & Mary are simply the best, really make you feel welcome and at home and could not be more friendly or helpful. We love coming to Badgers Sett and would not think of going anywhere else for a break.

Just come back and I have to say it was amazing!

The owners went above and beyond for us, very friendly and helpful! The place is amazing, so relaxing, we loved sitting in the hot tub watching the stars and listening to the sheep (who were very active after being in the field

Hi all, I’ve never done a review before I think it deserves one, I turn up later than expected but still greeted with a smile and view, after Steven showed me everything about the cabin and a already heated hot tub, he showed me a vey big fenced field with access to a small water fall where Vinnie could run, it’s so quiet you can hear the river in the distance when I’m in the hot tub, If I ran low of logs to fuel the hot tube they were more than happy to provide more, if you’re looking for rural it’s probably the place to be.

My husband and I went for a three night break in Badgers Set.

It was a wonderful experience. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly; showing us around the hut and how to warm the hot tub. They phoned us in advance of us arriving to ask our estimated arrival time so that the hot tub could be warmed. There was a folder containing helpful information about the facilities and local amenities. We brought along our Labrador who had a welcome pack of his own waiting for him with throws for the furniture, treats and bowls. The setting was absolutely ideal for relaxing in a ‘get away from in all’ place. I was initially worried that the hot tub would not be private enough, but the careful layout of the huts meant that it absolutely was. While enjoying the hot tub, we were able to hear only a small waterfall near by and enjoyed a clear sky and all the stars! The hut itself was spotless with beautiful fixtures and fittings. It was warm and comfortable, with both central heating and a gas log burner. There is a large parking space allocated to each hut with well maintained pathways to each hut. Whilst we were there, we enjoyed nice walks in the local area and visited the nearby small towns. In the town we bought a picture of an owl, drawn by a local artist, to remind us of an amazing barn owl that flew overhead whilst we were in the hot tub. We would not hesitate to recommend Badgers Hut, we had the best time. Thank you.

Wow what a stay!

5* doesn’t even do it justice. Mary and Steven are fabulous hosts and couldn’t do enough for us. We were greeted by Mary who showed us around the lodge and left us some Prosecco and biscuits which went down a treat. We were also fortunate enough to see the northern lights during our stay. We will definitely book this again. Thank you so much for making our mini break fantastic. Steph and Olly (The happy hot-tubbers) x

Beautiful log cabin with high quality fittings.

There are three cabins very carefully thought out both inside and out to give you privacy from the other two cabins. The wood fired hot tub was superb and even though it was late October we were able to sit out on the veranda for an hour at 8pm after using the hot tub. All in all a wonderful, restful place to stay at any time of year. The owners Stephen and Mary are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. On arriving home we immediately booked the lodge again for June next year. I cannot rate these lodges and the owners highly enough. Although dogs are welcome in the lodges do not be put off if you if you do not have a dog, the lodges were spotless on arrival. Thank you to our hosts Stephen and Mary, we had a great time. See you next year, hopefully the lambs will be out in the fields then.

Another lovely relaxing week at Badgers Sett.

The cabin is beautifully fitted out to a high standard and everything you need is provided. Steven and Mary are perfect hosts, always available to help or for a chat but never intrusive. This was our fifth visit to Badgers Sett, but it won't be our last. I think that says it all.

A lovely second stay in Badgers Sett.

A great base for lovely walks and also a very relaxing break away from it all. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. A fantastic friendly host, nothing too much trouble. Will be back.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really lovely holiday.

Very clean and comfortable and well kitted out. With a warm welcome from the hosts. The photos of the cottage don’t do it justice, will definitely return. Lovely area to explore and not too touristy.

Lovely place to stay.

Steven was very helpful and knowledgeable. Plenty of places to visit and the surrounding landscape is exceptionally beautiful.

Our 2nd time visiting which speaks for itself on how spectacular the Badgers Sett is along with the setting, the views, the property and the owners.

Steven, Mary and the family really go above and beyond to ensure there’s everything you need to have the perfect stay away; the extra touches really go along way and just make you feel at home instantly. We will continue to return to this stunning lodge and can’t wait for our next visit. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, Thankyou again, Jade, Devon, Vinnie & Minnie.

I actually dont know where to start with the review.

We had the most perfect break at Badgers Set Cabin. Its been a stressful 6 months and I actually only buried my mum two days before we arrived. This place has given me time to reflect, repair and rebuild my soul. The owners are amazing! Welcomed us and showed us around...lit the hot tub so it was all ready when we arrived. A warm exceptionally clean Cabin. Stocked with all the cooking utensils and crockery you need for cooking on the hob and microwave. Little touches of emergency contact numbers, treats on arrival, a book with local restaurants, pubs, places of interest and much more. Our dogs loved being able to walk through the fields and go down to the stream in the woods. So if you are looking to relax, unwind, recharge your batteries.or explore further afield....then this is the place. We didnt want to leave!!!!!..I could have stayed another week. We will definitely be back soon....its just PERFECT!!!! Thank you to the owners for helping me through this difficult time .

Wow, we loved this place.

Everything was tip top from the location to the peacefulness. The owners were very accommodating, having the hot tub up and running on our arrival which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely go again.

Fantastic lodge with hot tub , they have everything covered, lovely place will definitely recommend it to friends and family

Wow!

What a fantastic place in such a beautiful peaceful setting, it was just perfect for our three night romantic getaway. Badgers Sett was so clean, well equipped and maintained,as we're the grounds. Steve and Mary were the perfect hosts who went above and beyond for us, we had car issues and they took us to a garage and even gave us a lift to Barnard Castle. Sitting in the hot tub with your loved one, watching the sun go down with a glass of champagne in that gorgeous setting it really doesn't get much better. A gem of a find,we didn't want to leave,we will definitely be recommending and returning.

Running a busy pub business we were looking for a quiet short break away from life!

! We found it here at alwent farm! Stephen greeted us on arrival and was very warm and welcoming. He showed us the lodge which was perfect and he had already fired up the wood fired hot tub. Another nice little touch, was the mini prosecco in the fridge alongside a handwritten tag wishing us a lovely stay. We were then left to our own devices, peace and quiet not bothered or hassled but help was right there if required!! The lodges, although in close proximity to each other, had more than enough privacy and seclusion! I would 100% return to stay here again. The surrounding areas are magnificent and beautiful adding to the whole experience, just be prepared to get back to nature and put on your exploring boots.

This is our 2nd time at Badgers, and it didn't disappoint!

We absolutely love everything about it. If you like a relaxing holiday then this is the place to come. The owners, Stephen & and Mary, are such lovely people who can't do enough for you. We would highly recommend this place.

The property was more than it says.

Steve and Mary were so lovely and helpful. I’ve never stopped anywhere in the world that I felt so relaxed. To sit in the hot tub and look over the fields and watch the sun come down and no noise

Another wonderful stay at Badger's Sett.

Steven and Mary make you feel so welcome and could not be more helpful. Excellent location for a quiet relaxing break. Already looking forward to our next visit.

A beautiful property, quality throughout.

Would highly recommend, this a very peaceful private property with stunning scenary, every need has been catered for, you don't want for anything during the stay. Thanks for a lovely weekend.

Great location for a quiet, relaxing break.

Lodge is fitted out to the highest standard and has everything you need. The hosts, Mary & Steven, are very friendly and welcoming and could not be more helpful. Highly recommended.

What an absolutely stunning location.

The layout of the cabins allows you privacy. Steven and Mary were both extremely accommodating and approachable. A phone call the day before to see if we wanted the hot tub on for us arriving, a welcome info pack in the cabin including little bottles of Prosecco and biscuits and even a goody bag for the dog. We thoroughly enjoyed our quick break and are looking at returning soon for a longer period. We have recommended the cabins to family already.

If you believe in heaven, then this is a slice of it.

If you like peace and quiet, beautiful views, amazing accommodation, this is the place. We've always wanted to find a place like this, and now we have. Thank you, Steve and Mary. See you in June.

We loved our weekend here!

We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival and everything we needed to know about the lodge was explained to us. There’s a fab information folder in the lodge with everything from local history information to food recommendations. The lodge itself was immaculate and all facilities such as the shower etc were great. We were provided with lots of wood for the hot tub and also a lovely bottle of wine and biscuits! :) We were recommended the Brownlow Arms for a pub lunch and it was great. Proper pub food! Thank you so much for a great stay and hopefully see you again!

Well what can I say apart from WOW!

.. my partner and myself booked for Xmas week to get away from the hussel and bustle and was nothing but an escape to relax and chill .. chill we did .. the cabin was immaculate..few seasonal decorations still had us in the Xmas mood .. the hot tub was on everyday and Steve brought us more logs for the burner we used alot lol .. All info on surrounding area places to eat or takeaways .. I recommend the pizza delivery ☺️.. the cabin is beautifully placed and very private ..we never seen a soul .. next to the cabin there's a huge field on the farm land which the owner Steve allowed our 2 dogs to run free ..they even swam in the river at bottom of the field .. We sat outside with our blankets and listened to the river flow and birds tweeting .. and because there is no artificial light ( street lights / road

Gorgeous property with everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay - a home away from home with the added bonus of a woodburning hot tub!

Dog friendly place too with some really thoughtful touches like dog blankets and bowls to use during the stay. Frank especially loved the open field he could run and play in! The owners were lovely - really helpful and friendly. The location was perfect too with lovely walks on the doorstep or some interesting places to visit close by. We would love to come back!

A really welcoming and positive experience.

First rate, would highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful!

The lodge is amazing , spotless, so cosy , has everything you need ! The hot tub is out of this world , with amazing views ! Privacy , your in your own little world ! We will definitely be booking again ! The hosts are both so friendly and have so much information ! Top places to stay 10/10

My daughter, dog and I had a wonderful time in Badgers Sett Lodge.

The surroundings are serene and the lodge itself is cosy but modern. The owners were very warm and welcoming, making sure the log burning hot tub was ready to use on our arrival and had even decorated the lodge with Halloween decorations for my daughter. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely book again. Thank you for making our stay special.

We absolutely loved our stay at Badgers Sett and will definitely be visiting again in the near future.

The property was amazing and perfectly secluded. It is also in a lovely location with a lot of nice surrounding walks. Everywhere was kept spotless and it was very comfy and cosy. The hot tub was gorgeous and is in an amazing setting - definitely a view to see. The host Steven couldn’t do enough for us and he was very kind, helpful and made us feel very welcome and at home. If you are visiting this area I’d definitely book a stay here it’s gorgeous!

First class choice for a relaxing, get away from it all break.

The lodge is fitted out superbly and everything you need is provided. Steven and Mary are very friendly, welcoming and the most helpful of hosts. This was our second visit to Badgers Sett this year and we will definitely be back again next year. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place to stay, it was so quiet with excellent facilities it was just a perfect week we had there.

We will be coming back in the future.

The Badger Sett was nothing but spectacular and exceeded our expectations.

The build quality, fit and finish of the property was top notch. The property is extremely private, very quiet and romantic. The wood fired hot tub was epic and our dog Ronnie loved the freedom of running about in the field adjacent to the river. The owners made us very welcome. The layout is exceptional and very cleverly designed and laid out. We cant thank them enough and will be returning without any doubt. The Badger Sett is a real gem in a wonderful part of the country.

We had an amazing time at Badgers Sett.

Our weekend away here was everything we wanted and more. The owners had thought of everything which just made the stay more pleasant. Our springer was in his element too. We really can’t fault anything. We will definitely be looking to return. Thank you!

The lodges are extremely well presented and positioned very well for privacy from other lodges.

The owners seem to have put a lot of thought into the planning of the site. I would have liked the use of a small oven in the lodge and upgraded bedding. But these are minor points, as overall the lodge was exceptional and would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing break. The owners were brilliant, helpful, and very welcoming.

Such a beautiful lodge and setting.

We had a very peaceful and relaxed stay. Even our nervous rescue dog settled quickly and loved running through the meadow next to the lodge. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly and we had everything we needed. Will definitely book again.

Fantastic property with extremely welcoming hosts set against a beautiful backdrop.

Great!

Very clean property, cleverly designed exterior layout ensures privacy. Down to earth and genuinely friendly host, always busy keeping things ship shape. Some really thoughtful arrival and interior design touches, courtesy of Steven's wife - loved them, thank you. Our very large, 3 yr old rescue dog, is excitable in new surroundings but we were able to secure him on a 10 metre training lead and he still couldn't see other guests, given the grassy bank between cabins, which relaxed him perfectly. One afternoon we were saying how impressed we were with the hosts, just as a paraglider passed overhead - we both said "that'll be Steven" making a delivery! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - calm happy dog = calm happy people. Have already recommended to friends and will definitely be back.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing "getaway from it all" break, this is the place for you.

Lodge is beautifully fitted out to the highest standard. Steven and family have a great set up and could not have been more helpful. We will hopefully return in the near future.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, the farm was so scenic and peaceful and the lodges were extremely comfortable.

Plenty of room for us, the dog and our 6 month old baby. Steven and his wife were fantastic hosts who made us feel very welcome. Would 100% recommend and would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great stay.

Steven our host was awesome, once letting us know about how everything worked he left us in peace, but as soon as we needed something he was there and got sorted.

Had a great stay and would recommend this anyone who wants peace and quiet.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us to make our stay special.

The farm and surroundings was impeccably maintained and so were the cabins which provided such comfort, warmth and a touch of luxury. Surrounded by the stunning scenery and peacefulness of the countryside gave us a wonderful, relaxed holiday and memories to treasure.

Absolutely stunning location and beautiful cabin.

You can watch the sunset in the hot tub every evening. So peaceful, no noise pollution and a brilliant location to see the stars on a clear night! The cabin was layed out perfectly, so many small details put in by the owners. Steven and Mary were so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I would stay again for sure!

Our stay at Badger’s Sett was amazing, everything we could have asked for.

We were looking for a holiday perfect for our two anxious dogs and we found the place here. It was so quiet, reserved and private. Steve got the hot tub ready upon our arrival and even while we were out on walks (Teesdale way and Barnard Castle river walk are great to do) we came back to a fully loaded burner. A dog bag was provided for the dogs, plenty blankets and towels for us. Milk, short bread and Prosecco were left in the lodge ready for us to enjoy. Our only feedback would be to maybe keep spare soft pillows in the wardrobe, but that’s just preference! Could not fault it at all and really a 5* stay. Thanks again.

Great host was very welcoming, we had a lovely time and it’s a great place to relax with everything you need.

Had a brilliant stay.

Would highly recommend. Definitely be back. Lovely area and friendly host.

It’s safe to say that Badgers Sett surpassed all my expectations even after reading all of the other outstanding reviews.

The standard of everything is amazing; the friendliness of the whole family, cleanliness of the property, maintenance of the hot tub, the area and the overall kindness. All of this just made our stay so much more memorable and we can’t thank all of the Alwent Hall Family enough for that. We will certainly be returning soon! Jade & Devon x

We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and shown how to work the items in the cabin/ hot tub.

It was added to the homely feel of staying on a working farm. When we got there Steven was attending to some lambs being born. The cabin and hot tub are perfect and we had plenty of logs for our stay to keep the hot tub to a temperature we were comfortable with. There is a lot to explore loacally, we took a walk to Raby Castle and then went a little further out to the coast. It is a very picturesque area and the farm only adds to it all. It is dog friendly, be aware you will be sharing the green space with the other cabins, even though your area is private, be aware if you have a dog that wanders. We will be staying again in the future.

Our break in Badgers Sett was just perfect.

The location is fabulous with beautiful views from the property. As Badger lodge is at the end we were not over looked at all. The attention to detail in the lodge was exceptional. Kitchen, bathroom, fire, huge bed all were faultless. Even a bag of items for the dog was provided - bowls, towel, blanket, poo bags. The hot tub was ready for our arrival and throughout the break, the owner kept the burner topped up. Beautiful evenings spent in the hot tub - plastic glasses provided for drinks and the clearest sky full of stars. The owners were so helpful and friendly, offering advice and conversation but only on our initiation and not intrusive at all. Would recommend without reservation to anyone!

Amazing weeks stay with our two dogs.

Idyllic location and accommodation. Lovely hospitality by Steven couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was a problem. We experienced warm sunshine and snow as Steve said two holidays in one! It was a pleasure to stay here we look forward to returning and cannot recommend it enough. Thank you

Perfect from start to finish!

The lodge has everything you need and is beyond cosy. The hot tub steals the show looking out on open countryside, if it’s relaxation you want this is the place. Steven the owner set up the hot tub for us everyday and was helpful every step of the way. We went for our honeymoon and when we left had a gift on our car windshield, which was obviously unexpected and above and beyond! Can’t wait to come back : )

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time at badgers sett.

Lodge was beautiful and the owner was so helpful and accommodating, would 100% recommend

We had a fabulous 5 nights stay at Badgers sett.

Steve the owner was great. Nothing was to much trouble and we would highly recommend a great place to stay. The lodge is well equipped and the hot tub was fabulous. A very tranquil setting. We will definitely be going back again.

A lovely little set up with three lodges, suitably separated to give some privacy.

Steve the owner called us earlier on arrival day to see what time we'd be arriving and had the log burner hot tub fired up so we could soak away the travelling. The cabin itself is spacious enough for two. Big comfy bed, a large shower. Kitchen has all you need with a two ring hob, microwave and health grill for cooking provided but no oven. It's a new place having only just opened in December but he is building a separate cabing to house a bar which wil be open later in the year. The location itself is great with Barnard Castle on 7 miles away, Durham, Darlington and the coast all under an hours drive. Loads of local walking for those who do like a wander. A little gem that we hope to get back too sometime soon.

Really great stay.

The cabin was perfect and super clean! Had all the amenities needed and loved the hot hub. The owners were super accommodating and friendly and the place is a perfect location for setting off on dog walks. Hoping to come back soon and book the other cabins for a big family stay.

Such beautiful little lodges, with everything you need.

Steve was so helpful, giving us a ring before our arrival asking if we wanted the hot tub firing up ready for our arrival. He gave us advice about places worth a visit in the local area. Our fridge was even stocked with Prosecco, milk and some choci biccys

Just had a fantastic stay at Badgers Sett, so much so we nearly extended our holiday because we were having such a fantastic time.

The lodge was amazing and had so many little touches that showed the owners had gone above and beyond to make it a good stay. The fire and heating were fantastic, the bed comfortable and spacious, lovely large shower and the hot tub! Well it was brilliant, and having it pre-lit for our arrival was a lovely touch. I notice another reviewer suggested stepping stones from the tub to lodge, we didn’t need these as we took some flip flops each but whilst we were there these were added, clearly listening to feedback and looking to make everyone’s stay as enjoyable as possible. We’ve already recommended the lodge to numerous friends and family and would love to come back again. We’ve visited a few lodge/hot tub locations and this is by far the best we’ve ever stayed in. Steven the host is brilliant - thank you for such a lovely stay! If you book this holiday you will not be disappointed.

We just got back Sunday 23rd Jan we had a fantastic three nights stay, We were warmly greeted by Steve, He rang before we arrived to see if we wanted the hot tub fired up which we did, The lodge was perfect had everything we needed and was absolutely spotless Nothing was to much trouble for Steve and he was very approachable at all times also very informative and lovely smiley chap?

Scenery from our lodge was outstanding and perfectly situated, We ate at the Brownlow arms as recommended by Steve and the food was excellent, Would not hesitate staying there again, It’s a massive TEN from us, Val and Trev, x

Badger's Sett at Alwent Hall was EXACTLY what I'd been wanting for well over a year.

It was immaculate, comfortable and warm. The views over the surrounding farm land were incredible and the wood fired hot tub was definitely the highlight for me. Alwent Hall is quite easy to navigate to and find. There is a huge white stone at the top of the driveway that indicates where you need to turn in. There is also ample parking for large cars in the designated accommodation spaces. Alwent Hall is conveniently located between the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines National Park so ensure you plan a long enough stay to explore all they have to offer! Steven is a gracious host (he called me on the day of my stay to ask if I wanted the hot tub heated up!) and very easy to talk to, with plenty of life stories if you want to hear them - at the same time, he will happily leave you be to enjoy your time there on your own (unfortunately we did not get to meet his wife, Mary). There is a lovely pizza restaurant in the nearby town that delivers right to your lodge doorstep and the local pub, The Brownlow Arms, was a typical country pub that served AMAZING food. The one and only suggestion we have to improve (this does not affect our stay at all, just a nice comfort addition) is to add stepping stones from the door to the hot tub. The gravel was a little sharp under foot! Thankfully the distance from the hot tub to the lodge isn't far at all. I believe this place is ideal in winter and summer! We will absolutely return when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy a drink on the deck overlooking the rolling hills, stream and surrounding farm land. Overall, the lodge and its setting at Alwent Hall was a gorgeous, calming environment and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering a hot tub/nature walk/log cabin getaway. I left feeling totally relaxed.

Great welcome to the property, informative intro and brief to the site.

We didn't feel rushed, we felt like we could contact Steve if we had any issues. Great stay would love to come again in the future

Stephen and Mary are lovely hosts.

The cabins are very comfortable, clean, set on a very tidy farm and with lovely views. They made our Christmas break extra special with small touches and gifts on the 25th :) Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

We had a fabulous weekend, really relaxing and very friendly people everywhere we went definitely will be going back very soon 10 out of 10 for me.
