“We thoroughly enjoyed our short break here.”

The apartment was contemporary but cosy and had everything we needed. It was also more spacious than I had thought it would be - the rooms are a good size. The facilities on site are adequate. The pub, shop and pharmacy are just a few minutes away. The beach is the best part of a mile but well worth the walk. It is a perfect base for exploring the area and we would love to visit again!

The property

Resting in the fabulous The Bay Filey holiday resort in Filey, North Yorkshire, lies the delightful, one-bedroom holiday apartment of Kittiwakes.

Set on the ground-floor, this lovely abode boasts a well-appointed, tastefully-presented open-plan living space, and enjoys a superb location close to nearby shops and pubs, making it an idyllic base for a couple seeking an escape just south of the North York Moors National Park.

Step into your fabulous new dwelling, where you can find a well-equipped kitchen, which houses all the appliances you and your loved one will need to cook up a tasty, home-cooked dinner.

Enjoy your meals at the dining table before you kick back and relax in the sitting area, where you can enjoy a movie marathon on the Smart TV as you plan the rest of your getaway.

After you've enjoyed your morning coffee outside on the patio, lace up your shoes and head out to explore Filey.

You'll find an on-site pizza restaurant, pub, and a general store just a brief stroll from your front door, along with leisure facilities including a swimming pool, sauna, and tennis court.

You can stroll down to the golden stretch of The Bay Beach, enjoy stunning sea views on a tranquil beach walk.

For a full day out, hop in the car and head north to neighbouring Filey, where you can spend time roaming the grounds of Glen Gardens and Filey Brigg before you brush up on some local history at Filey Museum.

Further afield, the town of Scarborough invites visitors to get up close with exotic marine life at Sea life Scarborough, enjoy a thrilling day out at the Alpamare UK water park, and even experience history at the ancient setting of Scarborough Castle.

The Bempton Cliffs nature reserve sees half a million seabirds gather in the warmer months, whilst Flamborough Head also serves as one of the most vital seabird colonies in Europe, both spots are a must-see during your stay in the region.

The North York Moors is a special place, spring daffs in Farndale, the legendary Hole of Horcum, romantic Rievaulx or beach-combing at Hayburn Wyke, lots of walks, quaint unspoilt farming villages, country pubs offering local ales, food and historic sites to visit, a must for the whole family, The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is a unique experience, 24 miles of Yorkshire’s amazing scenery, it runs from Pickering Station which is a 1930s themed station that will transport you back in time to the locomotive steam era, a must-see is the celebrity station, Goathland, which became Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film, you can Explore Grosmont Station which is home to the operating and engineering world of the NYMR, explore Levisham Station which is surrounded by the North York Moors, it finishes at Whitby with its narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey, there are many quaint small villages on the Moors, but we are very fond of Levisham and Hutton-Le-Hole both of which have lovely pubs offering good food, on the larger size, Pickering, Helmsley and Thornton-Le-Dale have lovely craft shops, cafes and pubs and all are well worth visiting.

Whatever you get up to during your next visit to North Yorkshire, do it from the base of Kittiwakes.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
