The double bed was a bit short for me.

The matress on the single bed was very clangy (metal noise) every time you turned in bed.The hair drier appeared to have a loose wire as it kept cutting out.

This is a perfect place to stay, walking distance to everything you need.

House was warm, comfortable and clean. Thank you

! This is the third property we have visited on The Bay and the best suited to our needs. There was a downstairs toilet which was a bonus as it is not shown or described in the listing. The small secure outside area was also ideal for the dog and us in the brief spell of sunny weather. Seats in the living area have obviously been changed since previous comments as they are perfect and we had no issue with the plumbing.

Had a lovely stay at Driftwood-the place was clean, comfortable and tidy and had everything we needed.

There was even plenty of board games for if the weather isn't good. The owner has replaced the chair that was previously broken and sorted out the slow draining sink. The site is close to a lovely beach, some great walks for the dog and The Bay has all the facilities we needed. We wouldn't hesitate in booking again sometime.

My comments are very similar to those left by earlier guests including the wonky chair which I would now describe as actually dangerous and likely to collapse if someone used it, luckily we did not need it as there were only 2 of us.

The upstairs sink not draning properly which was quite inconvenient. the slightly quirky furniture with the sharp screws and the layout in the bedroom currently being used as a double which made it not quite as comfortable as it could be. On the positive side, otherwise loved the layout of the cottage especially the little enclosed area off the french windows in the lounge which let the light and sun in and our little dog loved sunbathing out there and great for a late breakfast in the sun. The lounge was very comfortable and the kithchen well equiped. This is our fifth time staying at the Bay and as always we had a fantastic time.

Ongoing issue with wonky chair and sink drainage.

Take washing up liquid and bleach, not supplied for us. Pint and gin & Tonic cost £20 in the bar/ restaurant.

We have stayed at The Bay for the past 3 years in different accommodation and Driftwood was by far the best.

Spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We especially liked the enclosed outdoor seating area. The sofa had been replaced from the listing photos, which was a pleasant surprise too. We would certainly return!

Whilst the majority of the property was cleaned, there were still a few cobwebs and dust in some rooms.

One of the dining room chairs was unsteady and it was a risk to let the children sit in it in case they leaned back. But the biggest recommendation is that mattress toppers/protectors should be used on all beds. In the main bedroom, the mattress was uncomfortable with the “dimples” being felt through a thin sheet, which could have done with being a fitted sheet.

Drainage issue still with the upstairs bathroom but we all had a great stay and you could tell it had a good clean this year.

Hope to visit again.

2nd visit, this time with Granddaughter, as well as dog, both loved the beach didnt want to leave.

The house was more or less how we expected it to be and was fairly comfortable.

Beds were comfy, shower good and the smart TV was excellent as were the various games provided. The drainage in the upstairs bathroom was an issue though that wasn't resolved during our stay. There was also a dead rat lying outside the bins near the house. It lay there all day despite cleaners coming and going. Upon arrival back from a trip, it was still there and we had to call the reception to have it removed. The house would also benefit with a few more kitchen implements and some everyday essentials such as soap.

Both sinks very slow to empty.

The shower could do with a couple of handles to steady yourself when getting in and out. The design of the tapes is not ideal for a bath with shower over. Some of the crockery is chipped.

Brilliant stay at The Bay, and the cottage Driftwood, few niggles but overall really, really, good.

Small fenced garden brilliant Olive our Frenchie loved it. Was easy for beach and walks. Few bits of dust but we all have that in our homes. As i said overall lovely little place. Will definitely return to both, only minute issues, mainly bedroom could do with a turnaround, there was a basket at foot of the bed when I got out litte too close to the wall on my side caught my leg on bottom, and on basket. No pillow/mattress protectors on bed but was very clean, not sure if by choice or was forgotten. But next time will take my own. Moved basket which had a blue item in it and rackets, didn't take it out to check what it was but was dusty, moved to make more comfortable layout and bit of build up of dust in slats of bottom of bed where it was. But used wipes and cleaned. (This is me being picky). Main bedroom furniture dated but clean. Can tell things are being updated and other than few niggles lovely stay and cottage, seriously can't wait for another visit. Overall 5*.

Lovely place to stay.

Had absolutely everything we could need. Our little dog loved the little enclosed patio at the side of the house and enjoyed snoozing in his dog bed in the sunshine streaming through the patio doors. Very close to amenities and close enough to the beach to enable a twice a day run on the sands for our little Sooty. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return for another stay.

The house was clean and loved the enclosed garden for the dogs.

Beds were comfy but sofa was not overly comfortable. Overall we would stay again . Could have done with hand wash and dishwasher tablets

Really nicely prepared cottage, clean and well set out, our dog loved to lie out on the small secure patio, had one small issue with the door on first day but owner Steve, was right on it, and had it sorted within a couple of hours, could not ask for more.

The Bay itself very clean and well laid out and dog friendly, with big open beach, our water loving Retriever had his best holiday ever.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable, had everything we needed.

A very nice place but let down by the cleanliness and maintenence The bathroom all round the bath needs the sealer cleaning.

The bath plug needs a new one.

Lovely accommodation and location, enclosed outdoor space a great feature for a pet friendly property.

Only criticism is that property could do with a lick of paint but other than that great place to stay, looking to stay again next year.

Lovely property, well situated.

Great to have the enclosed patio area, well furnished. The only issue we had was the cleanliness and drains that were blocked but water went down eventually. Will look forward to hopefully staying again as the kids were so happy and want to revisit again. Thank you

Stayed for a week in August and absolutely loved it.

The house is really well equipped for self catering holidays. Good cooking facilities, large table and even an outside dining area. The owner obviously really cares about their younger guests as there is some games, DVDs, toys, bucket and spade etc. The owner allows dogs but can honestly say that the property was spotless when we arrived. I saw a review saying that the cleanliness wasn't great but I can only think that this was a one off. The location is quite central on the The Bay complex and the walk to the activities area and shop is less than 5 minutes. The walk down to the beach is about 15-20 minutes. You can also quite quickly walk across the cliffs to Hunmamby Gap. You get activity passes so you can go swimming and book on the pair activities. There's is also a football area, ping pong and playground on the site. Highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at Driftwood, it is well situated for all amenities but nice and quiet!

It was nice and clean and the new sofa and outside garden furniture was a nice surprise!

The house was lovely, had everything you needed and the location is perfect.

Only point being cleanliness, we did have our dog with us so wasn’t too bothered. If you allow pets then the people cleaning should move the furniture to clean as pet hair gathers there. Unfortunately access to the beach was closed for a week, it would have been nice to know this, but doubt the owner knew either. All in all we had a lovely time and would book again

Great property in a good location on this holiday resort.

Good facilities onsite. Enjoyed the stay (so did my dog!) . Definitely recommend

Firstly the bed was comfortable lovely clean bedding and towels but sorry to say it went down hill from there, cobwebs from underneath kitchen cupboard to the utensils on worktop and cobwebs covering the whole front of tv stand.

The upstairs bathroom toilet really stained ready for a deep clean storage poor in main bedroom beware of the dangerous long screws sticking out inside draws . Think the settee is well past it’s life as most of the main bedroom furniture bed side light not working. We were fortunate the weather was good to us and did not require the heating as the control on the wall was totally blank . To the owner if you are paying for the service of outside contractors for the work to ready the apartment for next guests you need to have a word as you are not getting value for you money.

The property itself is fantastic - situated on the bottom end of the holiday village, and therefore within a 2 minute walk of the pool, bar, shop and restaurant.

A comfortable 2 bedroom (double and twin), all bed linen and towels were clean. Plenty of holiday spares were available in the property too, such as DVDs, board games, windbreaker and toys for the kids. Plenty of crockery and cookware. There is a hoover downstairs and most cleaning equipment, although with hardfloors it would be beneficial to have a mop too. Only area for improvement would be the mattresses, which are achingly soft and springy. The complex itself is good too - the beach is a (realistic) 10 minutes walk. Pool facilities are reasonably clean and both the sauna and steam room are excellent. Due to size of pool vs number of visitors, pool numbers are capped at 45, therefore you occasionally find yourself having to wait. Shop is well stocked, and there is a pharmacy if required. The bar - whilst pleasant - is heart-attack-inducingly expensive. Ordered a Guinness & a J20, and when the barman said "£10.30 please" I had to double check! Only drawback for family holidays is that there is no evening entertainment.

We had a lovely stay at Driftwood.

A lovely cottage with everything you need for a week by the sea. The cottage is well equipped, comfy and clean. The Bay site is handy to get to the beach and we made use of the facilities on site too. We couldn't find a pass in the cottage but the staff on site at the pool were happy to let us in to swimming without one. We would definitely be back to Driftwood cottage . Thank you for a wonderful stay .

We had a lovely stay at Driftwood.

The cottage was well equipped and it was lovely that it was an end cottage with a small courtyard. It was comfortable and had everything for all ages. We would stay again at Driftwood.

We have had a lovely time in a lovely holiday home that has everything you could need and more for a week at the seaside.

The house was clean, tidy and well kept, with nice soft mattresses, fluffy towels and extra blankets in the cupboards if needed. Plenty of pans, plates, bowls and cups in the kitchen and a washer/dryer which has been really useful. The house is literally across the road from the pool, archery, tennis and other activities the Bay has to offer. 10 minutes walk to a great, dog friendly beach and a nice stroll along the beach to Fileys Coble Landing. We really did not want to leave and would absolutely move in permanently if we could.

looking i bit tired, could do with a paint.

Furniture a bit of a mish mash dont go together. Could do with a deep clean, toilet stained in bathroom and taps could do with a good clean. Windows look like they havent been cleaned inside or out, cobwebs on the inside.Sofa a little low and hard to get up from, and im not elderly.

We had a lovely stay at Driftwood cottage.

It was well equipped, clean and well maintained. Lovely facilities and very close to the beach. It was the perfect getaway for a family of four.

We enjoyed our stay and thought it was good value for money.

There were a few maintenance issues that could be addressed though. The locks on both toilet doors didn't work. The outer handle on the patio door didn't engage the catch meaning it was possible to lock yourself out. The small freezer compartment door of the fridge was broken. There was light staining on the living room ceiling possibly from a previous leak from the bathroom. The facilities on the site are good and the it is only a few minutes walk to the fabulous beach.

The property had not been well cleaned.

The lock on bathroom upstairs is not working and one of us got locked in toilet downstairs as lock got stuck. Otherwise a loverly property and location.

Water leaks in toilet, children couldn't sleep on noisy beds, kitchen cupboard door broke, very unclean, cleaned it ourselves, vacuum cleaner disgusting couldn't use as it stunk the house out.

Bath water wouldn't drain away as drain blocked so couldn't shower either, no blinds in bathroom, front door wouldn't lock properly. Overall not a happy holiday experience with the property.

Lovely break and cottage was clean and very well equipped.

Great location on The Bay too as just round the corner from the pool and shops. Can highly recommend.

A very comfortable house with easy access to facilities, the beach and good walks

We enjoyed staying at Driftwood.

It was lovely to have a secure garden because we could open the patio doors and know our dog was safe. The garden was a sun trap so we enjoyed eating outside on several occasions. The Bay is a lovely place to stay.

For this particular property, we would suggest that more attention to detail is required.

For example, the hob had not been cleaned thoroughly and the oven shelving was definitely in need of a clean. The fan oven did not cook equally on the top and bottom shelves and there was no lid on the kitchen bin. The shelving under the lounge TV was dusty and the remote control for the lounge TV did not work due to needing replacement batteries. Blinds or curtains for the window in the bathroom would also have been appreciated for some privacy. On the one occasion we had to call the owner, (Steve), he quickly responded and was able to resolve our query regarding the heating. We really appreciated the location of the cottage and the fact that it had a fenced off patio area, as this was ideal for us with a dog. The meadow area near to the cottage was also great for walking the dog and so too was the short walk to the dog friendly beach. The click and collect meal from the on-site pub was inedible, which was a shame as when we had previously stayed at The Bay, prior to the pandemic, we had really enjoyed the pub meal there. The fact that we had a positive experience at that pub during our previous time at The Bay, together with the pub being dog friendly, was a deciding factor in us staying at The Bay again. We were able to have good days out during our break, with The Bay being in a good location, and so would consider The Bay again for a possible future break. We will also use Sykes Cottages again, as we have had positive experiences with them in previous years, which include the way in which our previous two bookings during last year were cancelled and managed due to COVID 19.

Although the cottage was fine there were some areas that could have been cleaned better.

With covid deep cleaning being the benchmark nowadays l did wonder if this had happened although to be fair, it could have been shut up for a while and not been used.

Beautiful, highly recommended, will definitely be booking again, xx

We had a great time.

The house was perfect for our needs. Great location for a walk into filey but with other places also close at hand there was plenty to do. Loved that the garden was secure and we found this quite sheltered from the wind but the bench could do with a tighten up.

House literally had everything you would every need. I also loved the secure outdoor area which was great for the dog. Beach is beautiful and nice walk to filey along the beach. We had a fabulous time, thank you!

The extractor fan wasn't working very well.

We have stayed at the bay now for several years and over time all properties we have stayed in are becoming tired looking and I feel losing their initial wow factor.

All owners need to reinvest in their properties , having said that Driftwood was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and as always provided an excellent base to explore the Yorkshire coast. I know times are challenging at the moment and I did feed it back to the leisure complex but the restriction of 1hr once a day in the gym is understandable if the gym is in high demand , however when I asked the question if the gym had not got max 6 in could I return. Apparently not even if it’s empty , the reason given was to reduce touch !!! Which I find difficult to understand as another 6 people could potentially’touch’ rather than let 1 return. The staff should be empowered to use their judgement and make a sensible decision based upon demand in my opinion.

This was great accommodation which is well positioned and has good facilities on a lovely development with a decent Pub /Restaurant on site and i would recommend it for equipment and location I must also recomend Sykes for customer service when we could not use the washing machine The problem was dealt with quickly with Sykes people keeping us updated on what was happening .

Then contacted us to be sure we where happy this to me is excellent Service and could not have been better An excellent Holiday

We’ve stayed in this property a few times over the years but it is becoming tired looking.

We’ve found the beds uncomfortable, bedding in need of replacing. Washing machine not working, fridge freezing food, extractor fan not working. I found the storage poor in the main bedroom that cupboard just isn’t big enough and only 2 drawers available to use. A lot of windows have blown and have gaps in them. I don’t give bad feedback normally but I was disappointed it has great location and The private garden bit is good but it used to be better than it is and people deserve And expect better

Cooker extract fan not working and covers that protect the same unit spontaneously dropped out onto cooker hob.

Washer start/stop button broken off and missing.

Great location, we had a lovely holiday.

The property had everything that you would need for a short break.

It was cosy and a nice family base on an evening. The Bay is a great location to stay at. It is only a short walk to a beach from the property. The beach is lovely and clean, we enjoyed walking down to it every morning to exercise the dog. The only downside to the property was the parking. We only managed to park the car outside the property once, the rest of the time we had to park at the side of the road.
