Lake View Lodge

When we arrived the site was pretty and easy to navigate, we got to the lodge but was given the wrong code for the key, so had to call for the correct one, but they gave us the right one over the phone and sorted it out quickly, the lodge is very much as the pictures show, a private fenced off area with plenty of room to park down the side leaving you a nice space if you have a dog, inside the lodge it is very much as the pictures show, it was mostly clean and somewhat comfortable, plenty of logs for the fire, everything easy to use and well explained, the welcome pack in the kitchen was very thoughtful and much appreciated to get you started, the bed was comfortable and we had a quiet nights sleep, the lodge was warm and cosy, there are 2 lakes that you can see from the lodge, one that runs down the side that you can see from the bedroom, however all you really see from this window is people fishing until around 8pm, this was a popular spot as there was always someone in it, so we felt the need to leave the bedroom curtain closed the whole time we was there, you cannot walk around this lake as it is fenced off to anyone who isnt fishing it, the lake in front of the lodge is lovely to see sat out on the porch, however from 8am-8pm this is also a view of people fishing or a place where they park right in front of the lake, sadly there were cars and vans parked here most of the time, they do have a car park to the side out of the way but as the front of the lake is easier access to the lakes there was always someone there, it says you can park for disabled, but tbh it was constantly loading and unloading as well as parking, I was expecting the lodge to be more secluded with nice views of the lakes and although at certain times of the evening it was, most of the time that was not the case.

It was a nice quiet getaway and there is a lot to do and see on and off site, we had a nice time but was hoping for something a little more secluded. I think this would be a great place for someone coming to fish as the cars and other anglers would not bother them as much, but if your looking for a quiet secluded get away with views of the lake all day then probably not.

The lodge is set in beautiful woodland near wonderful fishing lakes.

The park is an amazing place with plenty of activities and friendly staff. If you have a well-behaved dog, this place is second to none. The lodge is well-equipped and comfortable, but it needs some TLC: the insulation on the log burner's door fell off when we used it, and the burner was full of ash. The loo holder is still broken, as reported from earlier reviews. The outside of the lodge needs a good clean, it's full of webs and dirt, as are the outside table and chairs. The hot tub is great and easy to use. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a short stay.

This is the third time in three years we have stayed with our very large German Sheppard, the lodge is perfect for a short break the water park is great to walk round and let the pooch explore.

We are booking again for next year.

Great location and very peaceful but the property needs some TLC and wasn't as clean as we would've liked.

Some basic things needed to make it a nicer stay. Also no starter package for the hottub just damp wood which was disappointing as we weren't able to use it or the fire when we arrived.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here for new year and had a lovely time very relaxing and everything we needed.

We booked this holiday for our first Christmas and we were not disappointed at all the cabin its self is beautiful and the views of the lakes to the surrounding nature made this truly tranquil, we took a big dog with us and the amount of space within the fenced area was more than enough for her to run around, we was welcomed with a lovely Christmas tree and little hamper, the cabin had everything you needed from a classic log burner to modern heating, it came well equipped with everything we needed for the time we stayed, amazing views, amazing walks and the hot tub was easy to use once we figured it out, 10/10 we will definitely return

My partner booked this cabin for my birthday getaway and we stayed here for five days and four nights and it was a lovely relaxing time away!

The accommodation was how it was pictured and everything was clean when we arrived. The area itself is the show stopper with the three lakes to walk around and it’s a beautiful quiet place to be away. We went during early December so the water park and activities were closed but we did enjoy some time fly fishing in one of the lakes! We went into the hot tub pretty much every night and it was bliss sitting in it surrounded by nature. They provided us with a crate of logs (more than we initially thought) however we still needed more for the rest of our stay and ended up buying some alternative at Spar that cooked the hot tub a lot hotter. The bed itself was very comfortable and we slept soundly. We found the sofa very comfortable to sit on too. There wasn’t many issues with the cabin as it had a lot of the facilities needed, however some minor things needed were a sponge instead of a cloth for washing the pots, some’cleaning spray to help wipe down the counters when we were tidying up, and spare bin liners available. Someone in a previous review did mention the toilet roll hanger was loose and it still was for our visit but it wasn’t an issue for us.

Absolutely amazing location with no one around apart from the occasional fisherman.

The fridge wasn't very clean and a bit of mould in shower, which could have been sorted quite easily. Felt it needed just a bit of TLC needed. A few extras to make it special, like a torch for walks aound park, kitchen accessories maybe. But saying this it was absolutely lovely.

Overall the accommodation was very good.

It's the second time we've stayed there and it suits us well. Two issues come to mind that require attention. Firstly the toilet roll holder in the shower room was hanging off the wall and was unusable. It had clearly been faulty for some time and a very amateur attempt made to repair it. Secondly we were unable to use the oven hob, for the duration of our visit, because we didn't know how to operate it and there was no information to direct us in how to use it. That having been said we found the place suited our needs admirably.

Really lovely property, the location is beautiful.

Had everything we needed inside, only improvement would be a comfier sofa and chair. But we didn’t sit inside too much anyway. We loved the peace and quiet. Thank you for the welcome pack . Also liked the ease of arrival and key location .

The cottage was just as advertised.

It was cosy and clean and a very peaceful place to stop. The staff at the water centre were welcoming and helpful. It was a lovely base to return to after a full day of sightseeing but the walk around the lake was very pleasant as well.

A loverly lodge in a great location, had everything we needed for our stay.

This is the 2nd time we have booked this accommodation, its perfect for us and out German Shepard.

The water park is great to walk round and the people are extremely welcoming. The accommodation is sufficient for our needs, easy access to Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Our entry to Lake View Lodge was some what of a task in its self as we arrived after the park closed.

However once we gained entry to the park and at the lodge we where blown away. The welcome package for us and our dog and the Christmas Tree made it feel very festive. We loved the fully equipped kitchen, made preparing meals easy. Loved the walk in shower. The whole layout of the lodge was prefect given its size and the views were spectacular. If you like to eat out we would recommend the Ye Old Forge Valley Inn in West Ayton, or The Mayfield in Seamer. Both allow dogs inside. We have enjoyed our stay and would look to rebook in the future. However, this would also depend on few things being fixed, replaced etc, which we have directly emailed the owners and Sykes about. We did read the reviews prior to booking the lake view lodge, which gave us an insight as to what to expect Despite the list of things that need addressing and things that we think could add. We didn’t want to end the email on a negative note and wanted to we had a good time, enjoyed the hot tub, sitting out on a morning watching the world go by and would definitely recommend the lodge to family and friends. As well as rebooking ourselves.

Very cosy, loved the welcome pack including the dog biscuits.

The facilities were good, with everything you need. The bed was really comfortable. However, the communication and welcome from the staff was very limited. The bathroom radiator and toilet roll holder needs attention. The Hot Tub was fantastic.

On arrival, everything looks perfect, logs provided as listed, but only 1 firefighter and no matches.

The fridge has a broken shelf on the door, where milk and bottles should go, but we managed ok. The shower screen support bracket is loose, insecure, and could potentially be a danger if left in this condition. The log burner was full of ashes, and burnt wood, obviously not been cleaned or emptied it out since last used, we had to clean it before we could light it. In the cupboard with the dishes, there were a large spider inside one of the dishes, complete with web, and one of the smaller cereal dishes has a dirty crack in it. Also, the burner for the hot tub was full of ashes too, this had to be emptied out and cleaned before use. On the whole we were pleased with the welcome pack, dog biscuits and bucksfizz etc. We would like to say, we actually left the cottage in a cleaner condition than we found it, hence we were actually 10 minutes past the checkout time before we left.

The welcome pack was much appreciated and the position of the lodge was ideal with views over the fishing lakes.

We could not locate any details of the WiFi and had to call up to get these. There was an issue with a couple of leaks in the roof during periods of heavy rain which had been reported previously. A better sofa would make the stay more comfortable and a supply of light bulbs would be useful for when needed. On the whole, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake View Lodge.

Our third stay for a long weekend and we will be back.

Just perfect for a couple wanting a bit of quiet RnR in the middle of nature. Love it!

The first impression (view) on arrival was a hanging basket at the side of the door which was totally dead, hardly a good first impression.

. The lodge is listed as 5 "ticks", I'm not sure how this is derived, but there was a lot of issues we encountered, firstly there was no information pack about WiFi, heating controls etc. Also, the extractor fan in the shower room didn't work and it was EXTREMELY dirty, there was cobwebs all around the ceilings which had captured "daddy longlegs", the roof leaked on to the wood burning stove and between the breakfast bar and sofa when it rained, there was a lot of grease splashes on the wall to either side of the hob. The outside table and chairs were VERY dirty and the overhanging roof soffit where you sit outside was again VERY dirty and needs brushing down. I have photos which I will share on an email as I also have a query regarding the price we paid (£882.00) for a week in September when it's £706.00 for the same week next year, and it was going to be £574.00 for the same week last year which we had to postpone......

Beautiful setting very quiet if you would like to relax whilst on holiday but also has the opportunity to do water activities and plenty of walks.

The lodge was very comfortable and the welcome pack was a lovely gesture. The only suggestion would be to change the sofa as it was a bit small for two adults to relax comfortably and a bit of maintenance in the bathroom but nothing that spoilt the holiday. The wood fired hot tub is a brilliant idea easy to use and a welcome addition to the lodge.

Location is great and it was lovely inside and out. Very pieceful. I have nothing to complain about. I have sent an email regarding a small leak from the log burner when it was raining, mainly so it doesn't any damage to the lodge itself

Had the most amazing stay at the lake view lodge, perfect size for 2 and our dog, kitchen fully equipped for all your needs everywhere all clean and tidy nothing bad to be said!

The staff that we met were so helpful and polite, well done to all, thank you. The setting is full of amazing views, all the lakes look beautiful, clear water etc, the water park is great too as we took our own paddleboards went to some attractions not far from site, will definitely recommend! We will stay again in the near future

On arrival late, key box jammed and phone numbers went un-answered.

No rubbish bags, No logs, kindling matches, No tea pot, No sieve for tea leaves or coffee grinds, No oven tray. Just 2 odd cheap wine glasses, 2 saucepans 1 odd lid. Cooker light not working. Bedside light dead. Had to change bulb. Toilet roll holder broken. 2 taps, hot water in different direction. Hardly Luxury.... Malcolm

We arrived at Lake View Lodge and our immediate thoughts were Wow what a superb setting.

The lodge looks great surrounded by a fence to keep our dog with us, Inside there was a welcome hamper basket and was extremely clean through out, it had all the amenities that you'd require for your stay duration. Unfortunately there was no starter pack IE logs etc for the hot tub but after a bit of chasing up we got a pack eventually, one other thing we had a leak from the log burner flue during a downpour ,the area around the log burner and half the settee was soaking, after reporting the issue we were told its happened before ? and they were on about a new roof ? .How ever this did'nt dampen our spirits and we totally had a great stay,

We have had a fantastic stay.

The cabin is beautiful and surroundings so peaceful. It has been the perfect get away from our busy lives. We will be back!!! Bed comfy, kitchen facilities fantastic we cooked in twice, bathroom modern and clean, log burner perfect touch, hot tub such a luxury we loved it on an evening. The only suggestion we would have would be to change the sofa to a larger corner sofa as the sofa is not comfy. It is so lovely to sit and look across to the ponds in the morning and in the evenings but we didn’t find it that comfy on the small leather sofa. Although the breakfast bar looks lovely we wondered if this actually would get used and if instead a larger corner sofa would make the cabin more practical, appealing and comfy. This said, we absolutely loved our stay. The perfect time away for my 40th birthday and escape from our busy lives. Thank you.

We stayed last year and was extremely disappointed.

This year it is good to see a different sofa. We enjoyed the holiday and would stay again. TV needs to be replaced due to lines down the front and incorrect remote control. Overall - good!

Lodge was clean with a nice little hamper upon arrival. Would be nice if the cafe was open a little more though.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay so much we have booked the same accommodation/week next year, the site staff were lovely and welcoming, our German Shepard loved the outside space.

I couldn't recommend this accommodation more. the walks around the lakes were refreshing and at times after 1800 we were the only people in the park

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge.

The facilities were good, it was clean and there were nice touches such as welcome basket. The scenery was beautifiul and its in such a fantastic place surrounded by lake and was so peaceful.There are a few minor improvements which can be made, for example using mesh at the bottom of the fencing so small dogs are secure, more firewood. The only negative for us was we did not realise how close the carparks were to the lodge but it did not effect us as much at this time of year.

Unfortunately, my stay wasn’t brilliant.

The first day we got there we got given key fobs that didn’t work. So we had to spend half an hour ringing different number to try and get hold of someone to come down and let us in, and give us a new gate code. In the morning we tried to shower and there was no hot water. This continued for a full weekend. We had cold showers for 3 nights in a row after paying 600 quid to stay there. We were told the hot tub takes 1 hour to warm so we could at least jump in there with no hot water. It took me seven and a half hours to heat the hot tub to a standard where it was warm enough to warrant getting in. I checked on the fire every half an hour and used nearly two bags of wood. We took the dog which was lovely, but the hoover didn’t work and we had nothing but a dust pan and brush. So naturally there was dirt and sticks on the floor between the dog and making the fire and there was no real way to clean up. The sofa was very uncomfortable and me and my partner spent the weekend alternating between sitting on the floor and the sofa. Overall the weekend was a 1 star weekend stay. Really disappointing as the location is lovely and secluded and it could be a nice stay. Should have read the reviews properly as it seems the issues are on going and still unresolved.

Good location and facilities however lodge is very close to fishing lake which was busy most of the day and the gardens are overlooked.

Garden not secure for small dogs.

I have already filled one feed back , the property was two small only a very small sofa ,the floor creaked ,the furniture out side was worn out .

We booked for a week stayed only two nights .

Myself and my partner stayed Friday to Monday.

Fantastic location only 7 miles from Scarborough. Was amazing to relax in the hot tub in the evening listening to the birdsong. Lodge well equipped and very cosy. We shall definitely be revisiting in the near future.

I had a great stay at the lodge, staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Only complaints I’d have was the shower wasn’t very hot & very low pressure, I was told I’d have a little pile of lodges for the fire & hot tub but I was left with one single log for both, and upon arrival the bins hadn’t been emptied outside of the property which wasn’t the best of welcomings. But overall the location, the setting and the lodge itself was perfect, just needs a little tlc to bring it up to scratch. I’d definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone. Plus my dog loved every minute with loads of space to run about and explore, can’t put a price on that.

Hi, 2nd time staying.

Love the location. However, the cottage is definitely more 'used' than last time we stayed. The bathroom has nearly 0 hot water which is something we raised in March and the drains are pretty blocked. We would also recommend bug spray etc as there was a lot of mosquitos/spiders/wasps as should be expected. Lovely stay overall but some improvements could be made this time.

We had a very enjoyable week at Lake View Lodge It was clean and well equipped for a self catering holiday The welcome hamper was much appreciated The location is fabulous and secluded but within the water park there is plenty to do if you like water sports and great walks around the fishing lakes The wood fired hot tub was brilliant and a nice way to relax after days out exploring The nearby towns of Scarborough, Whitby are a short drive and there were plenty of lovely villages and great dog friendly pubs in the area Enjoyed our stay here and will come back

Fantastic location so pieceful and relaxing outstanding lake view and fantastic walks around the park , great base to vist surrounding areas, you must vist Bridlington the Lodge was clean and comfortable all we needed was provided and the staff were amazing and helpful always available for anything needed can't thank them enough.

everything we wanted was here for a much needed relaxing holiday away from the busy town we felt spoiled we will be back thank you Jan and Dave W

Could of done with a more comfortable sofa in the living room, we struggled to sit in the lounge, other than that perfection!

A really pleasant holiday experience in a cabin in a woodland glade in a fenced and gated area.

The chalet had every thing you could need for a prefect holiday. A really quiet spot in your own woodland no traffic noise only the occasional fisher man arriving, at night a really peaceful experience. Plus the wood fired hot tub is great fun to play with.The Scarborough Park and ride is only 15 minutes drive,free parking and cheap fares, Myself my wife and our chocolate Labrador had a wonderful time. I’ll be BACK!

It was a lovely stay.

. lodge was amazing. Only a couple of issues with the actual area, we didn’t see any dog poo bins and no capacity to recycle at the actual lodge. But otherwise idyllic.

We had a wonderful time at this cottage, the surrounding area was beautiful and so peaceful.

The hot tub was amazing and stays hot for a long time once you get it going!! Inside was clean and comfortable. Only thing that was missing was an outside light that stays on, once it got to a certain time the area around the hot tub was pitch black and you couldn’t see each other anymore. Inside the fire was amazing but the roof above the fire has a slight leak in it, we only noticed it when it was chucking it down.

We had a wonderful stay at the end of March for a birthday.

The dog had the best time of her life. The lodge is fully enclosed and detached. She could run free around the lodge whilst we went about our day. I would 100% recommend it. Had a slight issue with the shower being cold but the staff came out first thing in the morning to help.

The Lake view lodge was perfect & we would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet peaceful escape .

I’ll definitely be coming back. The only downfall was that my dog could get under the fence so I couldn’t relax in the hot tub

Nice place to get away for a mid-week getaway. Was looking for somewhere quiet and this certainly fitted the bill. Lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful when needed. Would definitely recommend.
