The Sequoia

We had a wonderful stay at this lodge.

Everything was in great condition, amenities were just what you need, and was even greeted by a lovely bottle of bubbly and chocolates! Very good location for days out in Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay etc. We would definitely book here again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

At first glance, the caravan looked lovely; however, it was not as clean as expected, and there was significant damp mould in the main bedroom.

The door was very stiff to lock from the start, and on our third day the door handle broke. We contacted the owner, who came over promptly, but it required a locksmith. The locksmith attended the following day while we were out for most of the day due to pre-booked shows. Later that afternoon, I received a message to say the door had been fixed, along with a request for a contribution towards the cost as the owners had cancelled their plans to wait for the locksmith. This was upsetting and played on my mind during what was meant to be a family evening out. The next morning, the owner spoke to my husband and implied we were responsible for the damage. My husband explained that it was not intentional and that the door had been stiff from the beginning, but the owner walked away unhappily. We agreed to pay half as a gesture of goodwill, as the owners lived very close and we did not want any awkwardness to affect our holiday with our children. We did enjoy our time together as a family, and the hot tub was a nice addition. However, due to the cleanliness issues and the owners’ attitude, we would not return or recommend this accommodation.

The cabin was lovely, we really enjoyed our time there and we really do miss it and canny wait to re book for next year.

The only issue that we had with it was trying to work out the oven and the heating, we do think as they have an information book all about the cabin and the hot tub etc that information on how to use the gas oven and how to use the heater would be beneficial going forward.

We have booked this accommodation several times.

It’s always clean and tidy. We like staying here as it’s close to Whitby and Scarborough.

A little gem with great facilities. Good if you want to Cook for yourselves and lots places close by for eating out. Alan and Alison great hosts. Countryside and Coast on your doorstep, you’ll never tire of the areas plentiful Walks and beautiful scenery. Our fav area for Holidays.

Lovely stay nice quiet location caravan had everything you needed.

Lovely out side space sun loungers 2 seating areas Hot tub was great. Alison was very friendly and the scones was amazing in our arrival pack.

We have visited a number of times the owners are lovely and have worked hard on the place hot tub is lovely lodge is very clean the welcome scones were lovely the lodge is very comfortable and plenty of eatery places not far away and lots of nice places to visit hope to be back one day

Couldn't fault it but would suggest a battery operated fly swatter to be available. Other than that it was lovely

Beautiful presented accommodation.

The second bedroom is twin beds and probably more suitable for children rather than adults, however were ok for a short stay . There were lots of flies around the accomodations but that may be because they are on a farm but would benefit from.some fly spray. Hot tub was a fabulous addition and well worth the extra. Lovely little welcome basket in the kitchen on arrival which was a very nice touch. Could maybe do with another sign outside on the main road as we did struggle to find the property. Out sat nav didn't take us as far as the farm up the main road, alternatively a note in the brochure to say it is opposite the Brynstone pub. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Homely stay, peaceful location but close to lots of places to visit.

A lovely little cottage tucked away just outside Scarborough.

We stayed over for a wedding and it was a convenient 10 minute drive to the registry office. The accommodation was well thought out with everything we needed. The hot tub was set up and ready to use as soon as we arrived, and even a chilled bottle of Prosecco waiting in the fridge!! The kids enjoyed themselves and especially liked watching the nesting swallows and meeting the resident horse in the stables. Great location, but still a nice quiet getaway.

Excellent, the location was just what we wanted and the property was first class, with a very good outside area to relax in plus a private area for the hot tub.

We are definitely hoping to visit again. The owners of Sequoia are very helpful and on hand if you need to contact them for anything

This property is actually a caravan but nevertheless its was extremely comfortable and well equipped.

Well situated for walking on the Cinder Path and the Cleveland way we enjoyed both the property and the very friendly owners Alison and Martin. Situated almost opposite the Bryerstone Country Inn where the friendly staff serve up excellent food.

We had a couple of problems the first night, (hot tub and caravan not warm enough), but Martin was over within minutes of us reporting it to sort things out. It was very clean and comfortable with pretty much everything you could need. The dressing gowns were a lovely touch when you were exiting the hot tub as it was - 5 outside during our stay !

We had a perfect 4 night stay at sequoia Such a beautiful luxurious caravan with everything you need, situated in a lovely peaceful location.

It has a lovely garden and fabulous hot tub and there is a great pub just over the road. Alison welcomed us with home made scones jam and clotted cream, the best scones I've ever eaten. Nothing is too much trouble for Alison and Martin, they are doing a great job

The hot tub was a bonus and throughly enjoyed by us all. The fresh scones with cream and jam went down a treat! Alison was always on hand should you need her. The beds were comfy and the lodge had everything we needed. We would definitely come again. The pub over the road is a must but make sure you book as its always busy and worth every penny! A1 Perfect Stay⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We loved our week away at The Sequoia.

The lodge is so cosy and welcoming. Scones with strawberries jam and cream on arrival were simply divine. Private hot tub is a massive must have. Martin and Alison lovely couple who just left us alone to do our own thing. But they were on hand if we needed them. Lastly…. Bambi and Holly ❤️2 adorable ponies, we both fell in love with them. Looking forward to our next visit hopefully real soon.

Absolutely amazing place to stay, hot tub was my absolute favourite and we had scones and jam with cream on our arrival.

Small details made a huge difference like washing up liquid, cloth, sponge tea towel, and bath towels provided. Scenery is so beautiful and in good distant of Scarborough, whitby and Robin hoods bay. I met the owner on the last day and he was very pleasant. Was amazing and would definitely go back again. No faults at all.

Had a really great week at The Sequoia.

It was a great base to travel the north west coast. The lodge was very clean and well presented. Hot tub was a welcome addition each evening after travelling. In a very quite rural part quite scenic place lovely personal touch with the homemade cake and wine upon our arrival.

Hot tub fantastic very powerful too. A brilliant little country pub in the village with excellent food.

Alison and Martin made us feel very welcome and went that extra mile to help me and my partner celebrate our engagement.

Beautiful, very peaceful location enabling us to enjoy a very relaxing holiday.

Overall the lodge was very comfortable, well equipped, and immaculately clean, and we were greeted on arrival by Martin, the owner, who made us feel very welcome. There were scones, jam, and cream waiting for us when we arrived and this was a lovely touch. We made full use of the hot tub which was a real bonus and the pub across the road is highly recommended. We suspect that the unit might not have been occupied in the days leading up to our stay, and as the weather was chilly, we found the indoor temperature and particularly the bed rather cold until Martin adjusted the boiler. That said we really enjoyed our stay, would fully recommend it to others, and would be more than happy to return.

We had a thoroughly lovely stay at The Sequoia.

We were warm and cosy and had everything we needed and more. The location was great for exploring the coast and places inland. The hosts were friendly but not at all intrusive. We absolutely didn't want to leave and will definitely return.

Just back from a relaxing and happy week at Sequoia Lodge alison and martin were very nice and helpful they work hard to keep the place in tip top condition we would definitely recommend it to anyone thanks Bob Clelland

Could do with sharp knives, working tin opener, working toaster, and a bigger fry pan.

Absolutely beautiful lodge with The Bryherstones inn being across the road for gorgeous food and drinks, the lodge had a really homely feel to it and arriving to fresh scones, clotted cream, jam and milk was an absolute bonus, really comfy bed, and all utensils, tea, coffee etc provided.

Hot tub was a bonus and made the weekend feel really luxurious with robes and towels provided also. Highly recommend The Sequoia for a romantic weekend getaway for couples, will definitely be returning.

Just back from a lovely weeks stay at the Sequoia.

Lovely warm welcome from the owners.A nice little hamper on our arrival, and lots of thoughtful little touches.Toiletries and toilet rolls,dressing gowns for use with the hot tub. Great base for exploring the area,we were lucky with good weather and it was lovely to come back to the lodge after a day out.A nice relax in the hot tub at the end of the day was just the icing on the cake. My only niggle was that there wasn’t a sharp knife in the kitchen which made cooking a little tricky having to use a bread knife to cut veg.It didn’t spoil the holiday though.Otherwise the kitchen is well equipped.I will recommend this property to my family and friends and would love to return again one day.

Great holiday good location not far from whitby, scarborough etc accommodation was good bit more like a caravan than a lodge but still nice.

Hot tub was a nice addition but should be included in price not a add on . The owners stayed out of our way so we could enjoy our holiday.The milk and scones was a nice addition.

Just returned from a lovely relaxing stay can thoughly recommend the sequoia we were a family of 3 and had ample room the welcome milk and scones was lovely after a long travel.

Owners were lovely our daughter loved the horses and the owners wee dogs. Also the pub across the road was great for a meal or just a few drinks. We will definitely be returning in the future look forward to it. The Warnock family Northern Ireland.

This is a fantastic location for a quiet holiday, lots of facilities around it, nearest pub is 50 yards, bus into Scarborough or Whitby, is a 20 minute walk, the hosts are lovely, pleasant and relaxing, wouldn't book anywhere else in Cloughton.

Nice spacious caravan.

First impressions the property looked clean but after a while noticed dust on the lights, against skirting board and particularly on the desk fan provided in one of the cupboards. No toilet roll in caravan when we arrived but owner did bring over 2x rolls when we brought this to her attention. Welcome pack of 2x scones, butter, a small pot of jam, strawberries and small bottle of fresh milk in the fridge greatly appreciated, thank you, although the scones were a little stale. The caravan seating and beds were comfortable. Main issue for us was privacy as the property is overlooked by the caravan next door and the owners stables meaning we had to keep all of the blinds closed when inside the caravan as people were walking to and from the stables throughout the day. This was also an issue when using the recliners on the astroturf area. The only place where we were not overlooked was the hot tub area. We enjoyed the hot tub all week, for which we paid £50 extra, but we were disappointed to find that we couldn't use the hot tub on the final evening as it would be emptied. At times we experienced noise from the owners dogs barking and someone riding a motorcycle or quad bike in the yard. Another issue was the dog mess that appeared on the astro turf outside the caravan on the morning of our departure which we had to negotiate in order to pack our car. To summarize, we had an enjoyable week in North Yorkshire but we prefer our holiday accommodation to be quieter and more secluded / private, so we will not be returning.

Cottage was lovely but we felt as if we were intruding because of where it was located.

After reading reviews we realised we had not received what other people had in our welcome pack. We have not received our £50 bond back yet. We enjoyed the break but would not visit this location again

The lodge is spotlessly clean & maintained to a very high standard. Hot tub was an added bonus, the extra cost is well worth it, the leg muscles appreciated it after the lovely long walks. Thank you Alison & Martin for a lovely stay, you made us feel.so welcome.

Beautiful holiday home and could not fault it, very clean and tidy .

Hot tub is a real bonus and a nice powerful shower. Cream tea on arrival was a really nice treat.

Rather lacking in dishes to cook in for the oven.

A lighter weight duvet in the summer with blankets as extra if needed should the weather turn chilly. A lovely comfortable property and would definitely return again. Owners extremely friendly and helpful.

Just in the right place to go exploring, great walks, great food, everyone so pleased to see you. The Sequoia is exactly as the pictures show, wouldn't hesitate to book again and would highly recommend.

Perfect location for visting yorkshire coast line .

Peaceful setting and welcome pack of cream scones and milk was a great gesture for the start of our holiday . Hot tub was very private behind gate and perfect for soaking in after a day of walking slopes / hills .

This is our 4th time here we absolutely love it so relaxing Alison and Martin are lovely and friendly and helpful they have worked hard to have 2 lovely lodges

Clean, generally comfortable, lovely hot tub.

What lets it down is the lack of detail: kitchen: only 4 mugs, one dishwasher tablet, no small sharp knives. Bathroom: only one full toilet roll, horrendous old, thin, scratchy towels.

What a lovely location stunning views , peaceful and plenty to do all at your own pace .

The reception was 1st class and very helpful . If you don't want to cook plenty of eat out places right on the door step . Thank you for a beautiful stay .

Property itself was impeccable.

Everything at first sight was first class. Dressing robes and slippers provided, all bath/shower/shampoos included. The outside was a delight seeing lots of wildlife and the owners ponies/dogs. Our only but biggest problem was that neither myself or my wife had a full nights sleep because of the state of the mattresses, indeed the second twin room was not even made up. My wife had to sleep in the twin room - on a surplus duvet, covered by lounge sofa covers for the whole stay. It was a bonus to use the hot tub every day as our muscles and whole bodies ached so much because of the mattress springs - which came into our backs. This stay was to celebrate my birthday/our wedding anniversary and now we come away wanting to sleep on our OWN BED, to get a good nights sleep. My wife did mention the problem to the owners wife only to be told 'well nobody has mentioned this before'. Let me now inform you ALL THE MATTRESSES in the Sequoia were of a sub-standard quality, and for the amount I paid, I felt we deserved better.

A beautiful lodge in a great location for getting about.

Spotlessly clean and super comfortable. The hot tub was a real bonus for us, we loved it. Would definitely recommend this lodge for a peaceful, relaxing break.

Lovely stay

Very clean and comfortable property, well kitted out with everything needed - if I was being very, very, very picky I'd ask for some hooks in the bathroom!

Nice welcome pack left by the owners who were friendly and helpful but not in your face. The lodge looks small but is surprisingly spacious and there was lots of storage in the bedrooms. The surroundings are well kept with seating areas and well lit at night.

An outstanding property, situated in an ideal location, the property was very clean and tidy, with a welcome basket of bread, milk, butter, jam and biscuits, large outdoor area leading to the hot tub, this area is very nicely done, we would book this property again.

Absolutely brilliant location.

Ideal for couples. Plenty of lovely places to visit if you have a car, but there is a good frequent bus service into Scarborough or Whitby. Very comfortable, cosy, relaxable and peaceful place to stay. This is our second time we have stayed and will definitely be back again. The hot tub is a big plus. Everything is provided cooker fridge microwave kitchen utensils heating and bedding. The owners are very helpful if needed but otherwise just leave you alone to enjoy your break.

From the friendly welcome, the pack of milk, bread, butter, jam, maramalade, coffee ect.

Beautiful lodge in a peaceful and picturesque location with a pub literally a stones throw away!

The local cake, butter and milk were great welcoming surprises too. There was a great outdoor area for our girls to play and the hot tub was one of the best we have ever had on a stay! The location is perfect. Only 15 minutes away and you're in Scarborough where there is everything you could need (Try Emma's Cafe - cakes are fabulous!). A similar journey north and you're at the gorgeous Robin Hood's Bay or inland and you have Pickering on the doorstep. Wonderful, friendly hosts who are approachable but leave you in privacy to enjoy your stay. Already planning a return! Well recommended.

Allison and Martin are fantastic hosts and willing to give help and advice anytime. Our kids loved the wee dogs. Bonus being 30 seconds from the pub too. Would fully recommend.

Lovely quiet lodge, set within owners stable yard, well placed for exploring local coastline and towns.

Excellent hot tub in secluded position. Lodge very comfortable with some nice welcome touches. Enjoyed seeing the horses over the wall! Son enjoyed practising his football skills on the patch of astro grass. Owners very accommodating, we really enjoyed our short break

Clean and quiet. The owners were welcoming and reassured us they were there if we needed anything. My kids loved seeing the horse and pony in the morning and at night time. Hot tub was amazing!

The Sequoia is a clean comfortable lodge with a lovely private hot tub.

Alison and Martin are welcoming and left us some tasty gifts. We had a lovely peaceful relaxing time, lots of places nearby to visit, would recommend and hope to return.

We had a great trip, the place is really nice and cozy and the hot tub is fab- it’s in a private area with lots of fairy lights to light it up at night.

The hosts were also great and there was even a welcome pack including a bottle of wine, fresh bread, Yorkshire butter and scones with clotted cream and jam, which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend!

Great location ,great places to visit and a very relaxing and comfy place to be.

The lodge was as described and was well equip with everything we needed so much so we could have travelled lighter and not taken as much stuff.

The welcome goodies were a nice touch aswel. It was in a good location, quiet, easy to get to and in the middle of local destinations.

I had to contact Alison a few times for expected time of arrival and key safe information and each time I did I had a prompt reply from her. The lodge itself was exactly like the images! Which sometimes isn't the case. The only unfortunate issue about our stay at the Sequoia was the weather, this I can appreciate, no one cantrol! This meant we couldn't make full use of the facilities such as the hot tub, it was nice to have it on site just in case though! But despite the wind and occasional rain it was a lovely relaxing weekend at the Sequoia! Hopefully we can make a return to make full use of the area and facilities! Thanks again for a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

Nicely furnished lodge with great facilities.

Lovely welcome basket on arrival with bread, butter, jams and a gorgeous lemon cake. Very close to a pub and easy access to get out and about to the coast. Used the hot tub first night but unfortunately due to storm Ciara was unable to the 2nd night. Would stay here again

Only issue was that we did not receice the key lock PIN number and had to contact the site.

We were on holiday for my wife 50th birthday when we arrived we found a free pack for us it had a bread butter cake jam teabags coffee fantastic.

We will defo go back next year

Me and my family stayed for 4 nights and everything about the lodge exceeded our expectations.

The cleanliness along with the facilities are far superior to other places we have stayed at nearby. You wont be disappointed. Alison and Martin were really friendly and if we needed anything at all they were only a phone call away. The hot tub was lovely and we even recieved a lovely welcoming gift when we arrived. I cannot rate this lodge highly enough. Thank you for a lovely stay...we will definitely be back soon.

Made feel welcome on arrival.

Nice welcome items in the caravan/lodge. Had everything we needed inside and more. Only thing missing was probably a BBQ or maybe a George Foreman grill although we didn’t have the weather for this!! Kids loved the hot tub and location was ideal being close to Scarborough you had the best of both worlds, the quiet country location with country pubs nearby and a 5 minute drive to all the things you may want to do in Scarborough. Highly recommended and will definitely return in the future. Thank you to Alison and Martin and good luck with your development project x
