Crockery was awful Carpet was very worn in places and dirty Lovely large lodge but the exterior needs cleaning really decking / lodge exterior was missing paint and settee cushions were dirty.

Otherwise very nice location and park.

The lodge was perfect everything you needed.

We could have easily moved in!!!

The lodge is lovely, clean , comfortable beautifuly set in a private park behind gates.

It’s so quiet, peaceful & relaxing , it was just what we needed from a holiday. Nicely decorated and spotlessly clean when we arrived. Would definitely go again, we’d had such a great time we didn’t want to leave. The only slight criticism was the en suite shower. Couldn’t get it to work properly & the door came off the hinge straight away…. Everything seemed a little & wobbly on it , so we used the other one all week. Just requires a small revamp I think. Everything else was spot on

Great location and spacious lodge, everything you need and welcome pack was excellent, one for the owner is there is a knocking noise above back bedroom in roof when windy, could be ariel?

Also loose cladding below bedroom, so we had 3 disturbed nights of sleep as it was constantly noisy at night.

This was an important break for us as my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 prostrate cancer.

. Wow what a beautiful place! The weather was perfect! We had a truly amazing time!.. Only issues was the shower in the en-suite needs attention as was so difficult to turn on, the outside also needed a tidy up but it was such gorgeous weather I de cobwebbed and swept up outside.. Thank you Huckleberry for having us, was fabulous..!!

This is a delightful, spacious lodge, clean and well equipped, in a a quiet, gated location with easy access across a field to the Cleveland Way.

The best holiday place I've stayed in. Beware of steep hills down to the beaches in this area.

Great lovely spacious accommodation!

Really enjoyed the stay in such a peaceful and private setting. Fabulous place to relax and spot on for our dog, with just a short walk to open fields and the sea. 10 out of 10!!!

The lodge is situated in a lovely position on the pines.

The arrival process and directions were well written and easy to understand. The lodge was clean inside with good quality bedding and towels. The beds were comfortable and a good size. The kitchen had everything you needed all in good working order. The only problem I had with the lodge was the outside wasn’t well maintained, there was lots of cobwebs around the decking and was dirty in places and I felt it could do with a spruce up. Overall a lovely lodge.

We have previously stayed at rockpool retreat next door which has always been exceptional but unfortunately our stay at huckleberry was a big let down , ok there wasn’t welcome pack which I would expect paying a premium .

The biggest let down was the mattresses , they were horrendous to sleep on and really spoilt our week away at such a lovely place , if that was a hotel I would have left but we paid for the week and had no choice but to stay because you cannot replace mattresses the next day. I will not be going back there ever again

Lovely cabin inside very nice the place Brunswick Bay very nice would recommend ideal for The Cleveland walk and local area.

The ground is very clean and tidy the cabin very comfortable and would recommend it to anyone.

I think you should have a working hoover, especially when you allow dogs, also the the shower in the double room wasn’t working correctly, which made it difficult when using the shower over the bath, especially when you have mobility issues

Huckleberry Lodge is a beautiful property and made our stay, very comfortable.

The location was perfect. We only have two points to feedback to the owner. 1. A fan or two in the lodge would be super as the lodge gets the full sun and heats up fast. We did ask at the office but they didn’t have any spare. 2. The shower room window does not open and would have been nice for extra fresh air during the night. Otherwise, perfect. We loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. We will recommend to friends and family. Thank you.

Excellent property, location and site.

Our third stay in Huckleberry and it’s just as nice as the first time in 2021.

The property is spotless and very comfortable. We had a lovely week with elderly parents. Facilities are very good for our needs and we would definitely book again. A few things of note : Internet wasn’t working but was resolved quickly. No welcome pack this year which was disappointing given it was mentioned by a few recent guests that one was provided. There are very few glasses in the property, other than wine glasses. A few more tumblers would be useful. On the outside of the property suggest cobwebs are swept away and tree at right side of drive could do with trimming back to help access on the drive, especially when a car is parked. These are minor issues - on the whole we had a great stay in a lovely property which is in a fabulous location.

We will definitely book this lodge again.

Fantastic Lodge.

Our second visit on a lovely secluded residence. Love the area particularly Runswick beach for the dog and us. Plus walks along Cleveland way Highly recommended.

Fabulous lodge would recommend, cleaning need’s improvement lots of cobwebs in bed outside decking needs a good sweep and clean, and needs an outdoor parasol.

It had everything needed. Very comfortable accommodation with plenty of room for 4 people and it was in a quiet location. Would highly recommend!

Close to pretty Runswick bay , no fee parking unfortunately ! Not far to drive to Whitby . The only problem we didn't expect was the en suite walk in shower wasn't working , and with mobility issues climbing into a bath for a shower was not easy for us both . Also the free view tv is non existent, fortunately we had our tablet to watch TV. This maybe a problem for some people . We loved the break and would be happy to return if the shower is fixed .

My second time staying in the lodge, had 4 nights over the New Year, lodge is very modern, tasteful and well equipped.

Nice and clean and warm despite the time of year. Great location for exploring the North Yorkshire Coast.

We found the front of one of the freezer drawers broken and the pieces just left there, and there was food and ice still in from the last people.

We called guest relations to get someone out to remove and clean it and to adjust the heating. It was set to come on at 7am but we get up early so we were cold, and we were cold through the night. We found tissues, underwear, and a book in one of the bedroom drawers, hairs in the bath and struggled to watch anything on the TV due to no signal. A beautiful lodge but some aspects were very disappointing.

The lodge was very clean and comfortable we couldn't fault anything it was in a very quiet place.

Everything you needed for a weeks holiday was there.

The lodge was very spacious and comfortable,only a couple of little things that could be better,one being more mugs,plates etc are needed,there is a large dishwasher but you cannot let the pots mount up because there are not enough, and it’s not efficient to put the dishwasher on with little in it.

The tv signal is very poor, the ITV channel was non existent while we where there,but hopefully we plan to return next year as we enjoyed our stay very much.

The lodge has everything we needed, very comfortable, clean and the outdoor furniture of a very high standard. Will definitely book again.

The lodge could be nice but lack of care, maintenance and cleaniness let it down.

Also poor quality fixtures eg shower very low pressure and bed really uncomfortable. We have stayed at another lodge on the site previously which was much higher standard but wasn't available this time unfortunately. Many issues already reported on website reviews and in the guest book haven't been addressed, basic TV channels unavailable, cleanliness (we also found someone else's pants in bedroom drawer, hair and dirt in drawers, toothpaste splattered in bathroom and red mould in bathroom), broken lamp etc. We phoned Sykes to discuss issues and they said that someone would come to fix TV issues but no one ever came. We gave feedback by email to Sykes two weeks ago at end of our holiday about issues and included photos, they said this would be passed to their quality team and the lodge owner but we never got any further response to our feedback. Disappointing, shame as lovely site and excellent location and if they addressed the issues raised by people the lodge could be lovely.

Super lodge in a fabulous location.

The lodge was very clean and comfortable for our stay. Spacious rooms and within walking distance of the beach, local hotel for food and the fabulous artisan bakery. We hope to be back sometime soon.

This lodge is truly beautiful and equipped with everything you could need, everything is of high quality inside and where it is situated within the resort is very peaceful and quiet.

It was very clean throughout, the beds were comfy and it was a nice temperature throughout which has been pre set for you, I stayed in June but the weather was the usual for our country, unpredictable! The overall location is great as a base, it’s a nice short walk down to runswick bay but beware it is a very very steep slope down to the bay, you can drive but you’d miss the spectacular views! I walked down in a Monday morning and sadly the beach cafe was closed but the nearby royal hotel wasn’t so I was able to have a coffee there with lovey views to look out over. I have no complaints at all about this lodge, I went alone but it would more than comfortably sleep and accommodate 4, the decking is lovely and the furniture out there is very luxurious, more so than the other lodges I could see, overall I would highly highly recommend it!!

No tv reception at the time due to issue in the area, winter nights were cold so tv was needed.

Other than that it was a fantastic stay and would consider stopping again once the issue was sorted:)

It would of been nice to be informed about the TV Ariel not working when booking as this may influence people's decision to rent especially elderly people who don't know how to use apps etc.

However other than this the lodge location and standards were excellent.

The lodge, site and surrounding area is amazing. The lodge was clean, comfortable, very spacious and exceeded our expectations.

Ideal location eating out and for walking and exploring the North Yorkshire coastline.

The initial impression of the park and this lodge is deceptive.

The park is very swish and the outside of the lodge likewise. We received a small welcome hamper which was nice. The lodge was nicely decorated and comfy, but was missing the 4 star touches the park and listing suggested it had. The vents blow constant cold air and make It uncomfortable. The previous reviews stated this as well. The kitchen was poorly equipped, rusty sieve for example and very few pieces of decent equipment, very limited selection of utensils, but bizarrely and onion bag! Bedroom blinds don’t cover the entire window leaving light streaming in from next door lodge outdoor light. Small curtains in main lodge hardly meet and are hard to draw leaving you open to the neighbours. Biggest issue was the TV. There were NO channels due to the signal, it stated no aerial. There was only on demand TV. Staying over winter, in England and with dark early nights, I’m afraid this is a must and you cannot call something luxury if you don’t provide the basics. We stayed new year and couldn’t even watch the countdown. Had to squint on a phone. DVD player provided with selection of very dated DVD’s but if the tv issue was sorted, it wouldn’t be needed. It’s a shame that a stay of nearly £1000 was down priced by these issues, a lot of which have been mentioned before in the book but haven’t been addressed. The listing needs revising to make it reflect a more true picture.

A superb holiday lodge.

Very clean and comfortable.Super location easy to get to the other coastal fishing villages.I would recommend this lodge to anyone.Me and my family would certainly come again. could I make one suggestion.A non slip bath mat in the shower as the floor gets very slippery when having a shower.Other than that Superb.

The Lodge and the site were first class.

The location was wonderful as is North Yorks. Thoroughly enjoyed the week .

As mentioned in the visitors book the toilet seat in the en suite was loose and the vent above the double bed does get draughty when the wind blows in a certain direction.

Other than that we had no problems or complaints and had a wonderful time. The lodge had everything we needed and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. We would definitely go again.

Beautiful lodge, wonderful area for sightseeing and walking.

It was a beautiful lodge and we were very comfortable.

I wrote in the book that the only things I felt we re missing was: A washing line Some sort of shade for the decking area it was not when we stayed and the decking area was lovely but my elderly mum was unable to sit out as there was no shade for her Otherwise no complaints. The welcome pack was lovely. We would stay again.

We had a stain on the double duvet cover beds in the twin room were not very comfy for our grown up boys and the toilet seat in the bathroom was broken and needs replacing other than that liked the place very quiet and convenient for the area central for sight seeing

Was a fantastic lodge in a superb location, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise too.

The accommodation was fantastic, just as listed, and I would recommend this particular property to family and friends.

Whilst the booking experience with Sykes was great, I have been considering whether I would use this company again in preference to other holiday companies as in the last 24 hours prior to departure I received e-mail, (multiple) telephone, and voicemail messages all reminding me about how to leave the property and stating I had taken keys with me in error when in fact Sykes has got the wrong departure date for our party. I did feel hassled by the experience which is not what you want on the last day of the holiday, and the reminders were a little condescending. One set of instructions is perfectly satisfactory.

Would just like you to know that the bin at the back of the lodge was full to the top when we arrived, all of our rubbish was put in the bins in the designated bins as requested.
