“Cabin was lovely and clean, shower wasnt very warm and the hot tub wasnt very powerful at all and left us very disapointed.”
The write up said there was a chip shop and a shop close by… both looked like they had been closed down for a long time. The drive upto the property is very very tight and no path through the garden to the cabin is difficult in bad weather when it gets muddy.
We are very dissapointed to hear you had issues while staying at our shepherds hut, we always endeavour to do whatever we can to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay.
Unfortunately the fish and chip shop on the High Street is currently closed for a refit and will be re-opening in January. There is however a mobile fish and chip shop which stops outside the Village Hall, go to Facebook Alleyways Mobile Traditional Fish and Chips for opening times. Failing that there is another fish and chip shop at East Ayton just 8 mins away in the car.
The village shop is very much still open located next door to the Peacock public house, Snainton Butcher and convenience store, google Facebook Snainton Village Butchers for opening times. There is also a renowned Butchers/deli less than 4 mins away in the car at Brompton, Google Glaves Butchers Brompton for opening times, there pork pies are legendary. Or for a bigger shop there is a Spar at East Ayton 8 mins away in the car.
The Shepherds Hut is fitted with a combi boiler, fitted externally to save space in the hut, and will take a little time to heat up particularly during severe cold weather as was the case during your stay. Please be patient it is operating correctly.
During the daily inspection of the hot tub during your stay I found that all four of the massage jets were in the off position which will have had a major impact on your experience.
The driveway up to the Hut is 2.9m wide narrowing to 2.5m between the corners of the adjacent properties. Obviously there is no remedial action we can take to resolve this however the use of the drive and private parking space is optional there is plenty of on streat parking at the bottom of the drive.
The Hut is located on a grass paddock and the ground can be expected to get water logged during long periods of heavy rain. In a perfect world I would love to have control of the weather and make the sun shine for all of our guests, however back to reality what we have done this summer is to dig a new soak away at the bottom of the paddock and we have rubber matting and straw to protect the most vunerable areas, particularly the access points. During your stay the ground was frozen and covered in snow, I am inclined to take the muddy conditions up to the hut you report as speculation. The site is on a South facing slope so it does dry up quickly once the weather improves.
During low season many of the local facilities mentioned in our write up may be closed or have limted access. If certain local facilities are Key to your holiday please contact them before booking so as to ensure they are available during your stay.
We live on site and can normally respond quickly, so whether you are having problems with any of the facilities or just need some local knowledge please give us the opportunity to help by letting us know while you are there.
PS Our local public house, The Peacock will be hosting the Counterfit Celts, a local four piece irish Folk/rock band on boxing day. For future events google Facebook The Peacock Snainton.
