Tucked away in the picturesque village of Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, is this fantastic studio-style holiday home, ‘The Shepherd's Rest’. Enjoying a superb location on a smallholding nestling amongst open farmland within the North York Moors National Park in an elevated position on a hillside offering exceptional views across the moors and uninterrupted sea views, The Shepherd's Rest is a fabulous choice for couples seeking a romantic escape. The property benefits from off-road parking, this is located about 150 yds from the hut which has its own fenced garden, and on-site animals including friendly sheep, ducks and chickens which may come and say hello during your stay. This property faces south so when it's out the sun can be enjoyed all day from morning till night - 2 sun loungers and 1 tree suspended hammock chair provided.
There is no other accommodation within 200 yds of this shepherd’s hut which makes it an unusually secluded and private place with uninterrupted views through 360 degrees of open countryside and the sea where it is not unusual for you to spot seals and dolphins throughout the year with even the odd whale in summer in the Bay to say nothing of the spectacular sunrises and sunsets and the night sky. Due to the location, it is not unusual for foxes, badgers, hares, owls and buzzards to come within a few meters of the hut. A spotting telescope is mounted on the verandah rail for your enjoyment - guests like to scour the coastline and moors to see where they are going to explore next. Inside, you will find a delightful open-plan living space, featuring a well-equipped kitchen for rustling up tasty dishes, ready to enjoy at the dining table for two or alfresco with a view, and an inviting sitting area with plush sofa and a TV, ideal for evenings relaxing in front of a much-loved film. Continue through to find a well-appointed shower room where you can freshen up at the end of the day, before climbing into the sumptuous double bed to catch some well-deserved rest. With no nearby properties, the location offers a real sense of space, with sweeping views stretching across the coast and countryside, and the walk between the hut and parking only enhances the feeling of escape, making every return especially rewarding. We had an absolutely lovely stay!
The views were stunning, and the location was perfect, with the bus stop just yards away. The cottage was cosy, comfortable and had everything we needed. A special thank you to Mike, the owner, who was so welcoming and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. His kindness and hospitality really made our stay extra special. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

We had the most enjoyable holiday in this beautifully positioned, comfortable Shepherd’s Rest.
The views were absolutely stunning, the position on top of the hill allowed a 360 degree view of countryside and sea. Inside, a luxurious sofa and double bed, and modern, attached shower room provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. A welcome present of a bottle of Prosecco and local biscuits was the icing on the cake. The owners, Mike and Carolyn, couldn’t have been more helpful and treated us like friends. We would happily return any time.

A great place to stay, clean and all facilities needed were there.
Great owners and always available to help if needed. I'm glad we didn't stay this week, as the extremely high temperatures would have been unbearable in there. Plenty of exercise walking down to the car park, and then down into the bay, I actually think I lost weight. The only thing lacking, perhaps a fan, as it did get warm, thanks to the well-insulated hut. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back, as we enjoyed the views and the sheep.

Shepard's Rest is the most beautiful property we ever rented.
The view is breathtaking, the land around the cottage is unbelievable. We loved our Sheep-neighbors!!! The cottage is charming, clean and well appointed. We spent our days exploring the area. Beautiful hikes, wonderful food, great shopping and very friendly people. In the evenings we enjoyed out cozy cottage! Last but not least, Mike and Carolyn are lovely, attentive people! We couldn't ask for a better trip. Thank you Mike and Carolyn for a perfect stay!

Everything was just as described, very comfortable and had everything I needed.
Mike, the owner said to ring if I had any issues or concern and this was very reassuring as I was on my own. The only small issue was the TV was a bit hit and miss (only used at night) good job I took a book I would definitely stay again.

Great accommodation, perfect for both travelling up and down the coast with good public transport or just staying in and soaking up the fantastic views and tranquility.

It's a Shepherds hut in the perfect location.
Stunning views over the bay & moorland. On arrival your welcomed by Mike (really nice man) on his quad bike to take your luggage up hill to the hut. Access to the hut on foot only. (a few hundred yards). Put your walking boots on. This adds to the feeling of isolation. Fantastic. Would highly recommend.

This gorgeous bolthole was the perfect retreat, all the facilities are exactly like the pictures and then some.
The owners couldn’t do enough to ensure that my stay was amazing (even in the middle of winter, in full snow conditions). Warm, cosy and the stunning views across to Robin Hoods Bay are outstanding. Everything you need for a peaceful relaxing stay. Would highly recommend and will be back regularly.

Had a great stay at this fabulous little accomodation.
It is mid winter and you get the cosy feel of this brilliant Shepherds Rest. Mike is brilliant. He is on hand to assist with helping with making sure you have all in place and even offers to 'lift and shift' your bits n bobs on arrival and departure.. Stunning views from there across to Ravenscar, a scope provided to check on the wildlife activities across the bay. Excellent spot for walks from here to Whitby and back. To Ravenscar and back. Cinder track is an excellent cycle/ walking track. Robin Hood's Bay is a must to visit. Thanks Mike and Carolyn (and sheep).. Will return!

First time I have stayed in a shepherds hut and it was absolutely delightful.
A beautiful space with everything I needed from corkscrew to hairdryer! Warm, very comfortable bed and wonderful shower. This was all surpassed of course by the view…..stunning!! To wake up to the hut flooded with the orange glow of the sun rising above the sea….priceless. Perfect hosts, perfect location ⭐️

A lovely little hideaway,warm and cosy even with storm Amy blowing a gale.
It is clean and has everything you need for a comfortable stay.The hill up to the shed gets easier,and is well worth it for the views.The sheep are a bonus,providing plenty of entertainment with their antics (sad,I know!).Thank you Mike and Carolyn for being such kind hosts.

And one of the most unique places we’ve stayed, peaceful, surrounded by nature, friendly sheep and an incredible view of the bay, the steep slope and mini hike to get there was worth it! Thank you to Mike for a warm welcome and delivering our luggage to the top!
Wonderful stay in a well equipped/comfortable shepherds, amazing views over the bay and all the way to Ravenscar where you can see the seal colony through the supplied binoculars.
Great hosts too, Mike met us to take the luggage up to the accommodation and helpfully did the same when we were leaving. Thank you for a great stay.
A wonderful week stay at the Shepherd's rest!
The hut was wonderfully clean and surprisingly spacious - I had fears of feeling a little crammed in but there was plenty of space, helped by the amazing views looking out over the bay. Would note the hill walking up is steep but Mike kindly met us and took our luggage up/down. Kept us fit our time we were there! Some amazing walking routes around and the hut is a great location for further exploration. The Sheoherd’s Rest was the perfect relaxing getaway with the most amazing view.
You feel part of the landscape in the comfortable sheoherds hut. Mike the host was very welcoming and it was great to have our bags transported from car to hut. A wonderful experience! Thank you from Maggie and Dave
Had a lovely 4 night stay, very quiet and relaxing, Shepherds hut was clean and cosy, comfy bed and plenty of hot water, bus stops at the bottom of the field and buses about every 30 mins in either direction to Scarborough or Whitby, Nice walk down into Robin Hoods Bay which has plenty of pubs and places to eat.
We would definitely stay here again.

Bijou on the top of a step hill. Well equiped. Fantastic views. Lots of walking in the area. Lovely helpful owners. Luggage transfer up the step hill was a pleasant greeting. As was the fizz and tasty biscuits. Shower leaks. Condensation is going to a problem, needs a bit of mildew and mold remover.
A perfect 'get away from it all' stay.
Wonderful views in a cosy, comfortable setting with access to all amenities and public transport not far away. A helpful and considerate host adds to the overall satisfaction. Walking up hill improves your level of fitness!

Lovely place very quiet. Easy access to Robin Hoods Bay and good location of local transport to get to Whitby. Mike was very welcoming and a great host.
We had an amazingly relaxing break, the location’s surroundings; with breath-taking views was perfect.
The hut was presented to a high standard of comfort and cleanliness. We had everything we needed and our hosts had kindly left us welcome gifts. The hospitality of the hosts was super and we will definitely return.

We were very comfortable, the views across to the Bay are beautiful. There is also a very good bus service too. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

It is in a beautiful remote spot surrounded by lovely sheep going about their business. I found not being connected to WiFi really did me good. There are stunning views from the hut and we loved eating and sitting outside while we gazed at the coastline. Mike is a very lovely person who gave us a warm welcome with his quad bike luggage help and much appreciated food/drink treats waiting for us in the hut. Big thanks to Mike and his wife for providing such a lovely accommodation and service.

Beautiful accomodation with fantastic views of the bay and moors .
Disappointed that although the listing mentioned the distance from the car park to the property there is no mention of the steepness to be accurate it's 0.08 Miles with an elevation gain of 46 feet if we had known this we wouldn't have made the booking we appreciate the owners assistance in ferrying our suitcase up on his quad and offering to do the same when we left

Just what we were looking for. Peace and quiet. The view was stunning. A hike up a hill to get to the cabin but Mike was there with his quad bike to help. Certainly stop again.
Had an excellent stay at the shepherds hut , Mike was very helpful on arrival with helping carrying our suitcases etc due to the steepish slope we had to walk up.
The hut is situated with a lovely view of robin hoods bay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

Really lovely for a weeks get away, the view of the beach and fields were brilliant, Mike was very helpful, and the peace and quiet in the afternoons sitting on the porch was a brilliant way to round off the day.
The local area was a pleasure to visit with really nice restaurants and pubs to try. The place itself is cosy and had what I needed for the stay.

Perfect for a 3 night stay. Great location, great hosts who made sure we got settled in Ok but didn’t intrude at all. The incline to the hut could be a challenge for some but was fine for us. Loved it and would recommend to anyone looking for a short break away from it all :-)
This is a wonderful shepherd’s hut, very well set up in a beautiful spot.
The views from the deck are stunning. The owner was very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. We had to leave early as my daughter became ill during our stay. The owner was extremely helpful and genuinely concerned and this made our having to pack up and leave quickly much easier. It is a fabulous area for walking and the local fish and chips were great! We will be back! Thank you.

A fantastically located Shepherds Hut with stunning views of Robin Hood’s Bay and surrounding countryside.
Very well maintained, very clean and fitted with all you will need for a great glamping experience. There was ample parking space at the bottom of the field with access up the hill to the hut across the field. Would recommend some boots for the walk in wetter times. We weathered storm Babet in the Hut with no problems at all, felt extremely safe and cosy in there. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly.
Just had a restful 4 day break at the Shepherds Hut.
The hut had everything you could possibly need, beautiful soft towels, endless hot water, comfortable bed and a lovely cosy feel. Mike greeted us and made us feel welcome. The car was a little distance from the hut so he wisked our bags up to the hut on his quad. Lovely clear skies for star watching, great scenery with a fantastic Seaview... lots of places to visit locally, Robin Hoods Bay (get you hill climbing legs ready) Whitby and the Abbey to name a few. Don't forget the fish and chips and ice cream........ highly recommended...

If you want peace and quiet, this is the place. I loved every moment and it was the perfect place to take a much needed rest. The quad bike delivery of luggage up and down the hill was a great help too :-)

The hut is beautiful and had everything I needed, the location is absolutely stunning and so peaceful and quiet. Enjoyed waking up and having breakfast on the deck watching the sheep and the world go by. Mike was very welcoming and accommodating, very much appreciated having my luggage taken up and back down the hill upon arrival and leaving. Such a lovely stay. Look forward to staying again in the future!

We were complete newbies at self-catering and had really no idea what to expect, but the owners Mike and Carolyn had thought of everything we might need and were so friendly and welcoming. The hut was very well appointed and cosy and the views are just stunning. We enjoyed our bottle of prosecco sitting on the decking in the sunshine on the final evening, wishing we could stay for another week!

This property is set on a farm sitting alone overlooking the Bay.
It is a lovely little hut plenty big enough for 2 to have a secluded and comfortable stay. Everything you need is there. The owners are a lovely couple who greeted us on arrival and left a lovely package of drinks inc a bottle of Prosecco and tasty biscuits. The area is stunning. The most beautiful views. Great places to visit and the Bay has some lovely places to eat. Well worth a visit but bring your walking shoes
