What guests are saying
The staff at Crathie Lodge were very helpful and friendly.
The location is remote, and takes about 20 minutes on a one-lane road from Fort William. However, the drive is completely worth it. The views are stunning! The lodge is comfortable, the laundry facilities were helpful to have access to. The home was older, but in pretty great condition. The beds were pretty comfortable. They provided Highland Soap Co products in the bathrooms, which was a nice touch. The back porch facing the mountains was cozy and wonderful to enjoy the scenery on. The kitchen was roomy. The location was clean and furniture was comfortable. Cons: The twin bed room has very little space in between the beds. The on-demand hot water cut out while someone was in the shower and had to be reset. They don't provide wash rags for the bathrooms. It's helpful to have Wi-Fi, but it's slow. Our freezer door didn't close properly, so was iced up, and the main door didn't quite seal. Being from out of the country, we weren't quite expecting it to be so remote, so that was a bit of a shock, but once we felt comfortable on the roads we really enjoyed the ride into town - especially seeing the Highland cows and sheep along the way!. So beautiful! If we come back, we'll stay again for sure!
There were a number of light bulbs throughout the lodge that did not work or flickered when turned on.
There were only enough dishes for six people requiring dishes to be cleaned after each meal. There were no supplies what so ever unlike all of the other places we have rented over the years. We woke up on the last day to find no electricity and no heat. This is not an ideal rental. It was extremely difficult dealing with both Sykes and the owner regarding changes and discovering where the lodge is located. This is not the first time we have had problems with Sykes. I will avoid them in the future.
My family and I stayed there after coming from Riyadh in the peak of summer, and it was one of the most wonderful experiences we've had.
The place left a beautiful impression on us.
