“Downtime Lodge was an ideal accommodation for a few nights stay in Northumberland, but at this time of year the park is almost empty (nice and quiet) but also the Tavern is closed so no stroll for a drink.”

We would normally hire a cottage but chose Downtime Lodge as an alternative and found it to be as comfortable as a cottage would have been.

“Stayed here for a week.”

2 adults and 2 kids. Accommodation was lovely well decorated and furnished. Rooms were clean although the floors are in need of a deep clean. Lino wasn't very clean and the carpets have ALOT of dog hair in them. (This is a pet friendly lodge) we enjoyed our stay altho there isn't alot to do on site. We kept the lodge to the standard we arrived to and gave the property a clean before leaving (hoover, wipe down, beds stripped etc) altho the hoover is very poor probably explaining the hair pet hair in the carpets. The en-suit also had an unpleasant smell. Not sure if this is possibly where the drains are located but we just kept the door shut and didnt use this room and the smell didnt travel threw out. Upon leaving my daughter dropped her fruit shoot on the way out the door. It spilt on the bedding sitting infront of the washing machine ready for washing. (A single duvet cover) i cleaned up the excess on the lino and went on my way thinking nothing of it. Once arriving home we got £20 taking out or our account followed by an emailed bill stating it was for "damages" a "destroyed single duvet cover" this to me is completely unreasonable. A child's drink that would wash straight out of a duvet cover I'd hope was going straight in the wash anyway! This lodge is advertised as being "child and pet friendly" so expecting to have a family with possible children/pets staying and not expecting some marks/dirt on the washable is unrealistic. Shame really as my kids really enjoyed there stay here and would of returned had this not happened.

“The lodge was clean and well presented.”

It felt like a home from home. I particularly like the local travel books you could browse through. There are certain things i would say could be improved. The Wifi signal was inconsistent. It is probably due to where we are in Northumberland. If this could be improved would be great. The beds were much softer than we were used too and i would say a firmer bed is the order of the day, for better sleep. Thank you overall we enjoyed our stay.

“Amazing property, looked after very well.”

All the home comforts you need with the added luxuries. Hot tub comfortably seated 4 people. Owners very responsive should you have any queries. Located on a wonderful park with a short walk to Crazy horse saloon on Felmoor park. Short drive from site to Alnwick and Amble.

“Would just like to say that we all had a fantastic time staying at Down Time Lodge, loved everything plenty space bedrooms was amazing loved the walk in wardrobe with lights, plus the on suite, perfect location where the caravan was and was very friendly people.”

“I hadnt realised the park was so close to the A1 - although the traffic noise kept me awake on the first night , it wasnt really a problem after that , but its such a busy road during the day it was frustrating having long waits to join every day as there was no other route to get to places.”

Having said that the lodge is beautiful and the park nice and well kept although it was dissapointing that the Time Out Tavern appears to be permanently closed and also that there is no reception in the park. Strangely on night one there was a loud bang on the outside of the caravan and the sofa actually moved! I presumed a deer had probably hit the side, then got underneath in a panic and vibrated underneath. Hubby went outside and nothing could be seen but it would have been nice to be able to ask if that happens regularly. As there are deer statues at the entrance we presumed they are regular visitors.

“The lodge was as described.”

The lounge area and beds were comfortable. It was handy having two bathrooms. There was everything we needed in the kitchen. We enjoyed the hot tub and the outdoor space which was kept clean and tidy. The only fault I found was that the heating was set remotely on a timer so we couldn’t change it. The information book advised us to use the fire in the living area if we were cold. That was fine if you were sitting in that area but the bedrooms and bathrooms were really cold.

I have further adjusted the settings to ensure that the temperature throughout the lodge is much warmer than the previous settings, and we will monitor these with subsequent guests to ensure we are getting the balance right. The delightful village of Felton is set in rural Northumberland, between Morpeth to the south and Alnwick to the north. The village has a shop with a post office, coffee shop, pub and restaurant, and is just 10 miles from Alnwick, with its Castle and now famous Garden, which features Europe's largest cascading water feature, an enormous tree house, a rose garden and an ornamental walled garden. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the "Harry Potter" films!
