Description

This lovely single-storey timber lodge is in an ideal location for a seaside getaway in this spectacular part of the country.

Aurora Skies sits within its secluded garden on the grounds of the owner's home, in the village of Cresswell on the North Sea coast a two-minute walk from the sandy beach.

The property is accessed through the rear grounds of the hosts property and across the garden to ascend a step onto a decked veranda with outdoor furniture and a patio heater, which is a great place to sit and admire the garden and sea views while enjoying a cool drink in the evening sunlight.

It can also be a great place to witness the Northern Lights.

Entering the accommodation you will find an open-plan living area with a well-equipped modern kitchen, dining area and a cosy sitting area.

There are two comfortable bedrooms, one king-size double and one adult bunk room, both sharing a light and airy shower room.

Cresswell is popular with wildlife lovers and is home to Cresswell Pond, a large lagoon that has been created as the result of subsidence from old collapsed mine works which is connected to the sea providing excellent feeding for wading birds all year round.

The 13th-century Cresswell Pele Tower, located opposite the property, has been beautifully renovated alongside a Georgian walled garden, an ongoing volunteer-led project.

Now a major village attraction, it welcomes over 300 visitors on weekends and hosts a variety of summer events, including arts and crafts, music, historical re-enactments, stone painting, and medieval tile making.

Each year, new activities are added, with this year featuring beekeeping training.

Popular with both locals and holidaymakers, Aurora Skies offers guests a complimentary guided tour of the tower and gardens.

A short drive north will bring you to the picturesque harbour village of Amble, with a lovely assortment of shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

Enjoy a walk around Morpeth and soak up the character and history of this charming town, or discover Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle, Cragside and Druridge Bay, all within easy reach.

This wonderful holiday lodge is an ideal retreat for exploring all that Northumberland has to offer.

Cosy cabin in a beautiful, quiet location.

The hosts are lovely and the milk and cake on arrival were much appreciated. Lots of thoughtful extras in the cabin. Only dropped a star as a little TLC is needed - but I expect this is the result of nearing the end of a busy summer season. We hope to return in winter to see the Aurora.
