“We found the lodge clean, comfortable and generally well presented, but several issues affected the start of our stay.”

On arrival the master bed was broken, the sink was blocked, and one of the light switches caused the lights to flicker. These were all resolved by Sunday, and the owner was helpful and responsive throughout, but the problems did impact the first two days. On arrival the master bed was broken, the sink was blocked, and one of the light switches caused the lights to flicker. These were all resolved by Sunday, and the owner was helpful and responsive throughout, but the problems did impact the first two days. As there were only two of us, one used the smaller bedroom and the other the sofa until the bed was repaired. There were also some minor issues, including leaky skylights, a defect on the TV, and a cracked floor tile in the main bathroom. The lodge would also benefit from clearer guest information, such as instructions for the cooker and heating, and guidance on where to take rubbish on the site. The property has good potential, and with a few finishing touches—such as coat hooks and a more complete selection of crockery—it could offer a more consistent five‑star experience. The owner greeted us on arrival, which was appreciated, and ensured the reported issues were dealt with promptly. Overall, once the initial problems were resolved, the stay was comfortable, but some attention to detail would improve the overall standard.
