Hen House View

We really enjoyed the hot tub, and the modern bath fits two comfortably.

The bed was really comfortably. Lovely location, the owners were easy to get, oncall, very helpful and considerate. The TV was disappointing we had problems with the firestick and the remote controls didn't want to play. A DVD player would have been nice. The kitchen has everything you'd want including a cafetiere and induction hob stove.

We had the best time at Hen House View!

Everything was spotlessly clean and we felt so welcome. The rooms were very spacious and the outside space was perfect! We definitely recommend taking the 10 minute walk to Ye Olde Dun Cow, we had an amazing meal there. We will definitely be back ❤️

An absolutely beautiful and tranquil little cottage.

The hot tub was amazing & we had everything we needed as well as a bottle of fizz & crisps from Hayley & Martin which was a lovely surprise. It’s the perfect place to chill, unwind and enjoy quality time together. Our dog Rocco loved it too!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hen House View.

The Lodge was very clean and perfect to come back to after lovely long walks out across the fields with the bonus of the hot tub. Fantastic facilities provided and the parking was spacious. Would highly recommend.

As before it was a great relaxing weekend, this time we took the dog to the memorial place about 30 mins away which was really good.

It’s a great little place but with all you need. Hot tub is brilliant. Only thing we do is keep the bedroom curtains and lounge nets closed all the time as you can see in, but that doesn’t spoil the trip :)

Booked our stay at Henhouse View, whilst having some house renovations.

Despite the snow and the rain, we had a lovely stay. The cabin was warm and cosy. There is everything you could need for your brake away. The underfloor heating is very good, we did not need to use the log burner at all. Lovely kingsize bed. There is an amazing bath in the bathroom, as well as the hot tub outside, which was exceptionally clean and a great temperature for the January days/evenings. Owners and Staff were very polite and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend for a couple and their pooch.

An ideal place to stay for a couple that are looking for a quiet get away.

The property is well maintained and clean. The bed is the most comfortable we have slept in away from home and the hot tub is ideal for a relaxing rest.

The time here was excellent.

The weatehr was good and we visited severl National Trust properties as well as two visits to Lichfield Cathedral. The hot tub was made use of every night, and the underfloor heating was most welcome.

I really enjoyed the Hen house View beautiful, bed was so comfortable slept so well, hot tube was a real treat used it every day, I will be booking again to stay there next year.

You very unlucky it was so hot weather when we stayed.

I know it was not with an AC when I booked it but you should have had some fans in the apartment in case of need. It was impossible to sleep well. Otherwise I loved it!!

The place was very peaceful and ideal if you want to escape.The hot tub was great.On arrival we were gifted a bottle of Prosecco which was a good start to our holiday.We had an excellent meal at the Dun Cow ten minutes walk away,Lots of places to visit by car.

Fantastic little romantic cottage in a beautiful secluded location within easy reach of Rugeley town centre and Cannock Chase.

Beautifully furnished and meticulously clean with everything you need to hand. Super king bed was extremely comfortable. Garden has been fully enclosed since pictures were taken but very nicely done. Fabulous hot tub perfect for relaxing after a long day walking. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

What to say about Hen House?

We had the most wonderful stay and my partner had the best birthday! From the hot tub, the big bath and bed, to the underfloor heating (which was unexpected as not advertised), Hen House has set a very high standard and bar for future stay aways.

Wonderful accommodation, just right for 2 people.

Very warm and cosy, the bed was very comfortable indeed. Plenty of cleaning products and little essentials like tin foil and dishwasher tabs. The hot tub was welcoming after those long country walks.

We had a week.

And what a gorgeous place there is nothing that they had missed it was so well thought out. The hot tub the log fire the bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was huge. It was so quiet and relaxing outside. We would definitely recommend it. Our dog had a lovely holiday as well his first.

Exceptional rural retreat, cozy, relaxing, country walks, pub close by (though we didn’t partake as we were totally self sufficient), hot tub bathing into the late night soothing tired muscles and gazing up into the endless night sky……bliss!

Your advert for this property is wrong, Hen House View is located in Staffordshire and not Derbyshire.

The property is lovely, the overgrown tree outside the building near the hot tub could do with cutting back. Everything you need is at this property and welcome pack is extremely thoughtful and appreciated. Prospective customers should be aware that some heavy plant and traffic on the one 1 track lanes due to 2 farms in the vicinity. We did our homework, as we had a dog with us we booked with being able to walk to 2 pubs for food, the Ye Olde Dun Cow in is not dog friendly unless you sit outside so weather permissive, The Greyhound is dog friendly and the home cooked food reviews looked good, however, when we arrived, the landlord said it was a wet pub and did not provide food even though it said that they do on the front of the building. Just be aware of this. Lovely getaway though, can’t go wrong with Hayley/Martin and the property, great private hot tub and secure grounds for the dog. Thanks for having us.

We absolutely loved our stay and have already booked again for my birthday.

We had everything you could think of and the welcome gift was a lovely touch. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfy. The hot tub was amazing and we spent lots of time in there. There are two nice pubs within walking distance and the host was very informative about things to do.

We’ve stayed at Hen House View twice now (once in the winter and once in the summer).

Both times we have thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. A bottle of Prosecco and a bag of crisps greet you, which a lovely gesture and gets the holiday off to a good start. They’ve spent money on all the right things; spacious and high quality bathroom, super king bed, log burner and heated floor throughout the bathroom and living space. Everything you need is thoughtfully provided. The small but sweet garden is fully enclosed and feels very private. There’s lots of quiet walks around the area, perfect for dogs (and people) to explore. The local village shop, The Cow Shed in Colton, is well worth a visit, I recommend the takeaway lasagne. Overall I highly recommend this place and we look forward to our next visit.

Hen House View is a lovely secluded bungalow with high grade finishing and a very comfortable bed.

Hot tub was hidden away in the small but beautiful garden, the photo's are before the foliage grew so it is now very private would and have recommended this for a short stay. Hayley was very welcoming and we will definitely be back.

Inside had everything we needed for our stay, very comfortable bed. Pub only 10 minutes walk, with nice food and a fabulous little shop. Dog was allowed in the pub garden and marquee. Easily able to access Cannock Chase forest, Litchfield, (the cathedral is dog friendly), national memorial arboretum. Perfect stay with lovely touches like fizz, milk and crisps. The lodge was very comfortable especially the bed and the bathroom was excellent.

Lovely welcome package and hot tub. The only issue we had was the lane directly behind the lodge was very busy often with heavy equipment, starting early in the morning. We enjoyed our stay and the garden is lovely and fenced in which was great for the dog.

Hen House View is a lovely, relaxing, countryside retreat but within close proximity to attractions.

The hot tub was great and because hedges have grown and the flowered garden has developed since photos were taken it is now very private. The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped with quality items. Plenty of room in the fridge with a smallish freezer compartment. Really good cooker. Very comfortable bed. Under floor heating worked well, controlled by a thermostat. We found the Wi-Fi worked well. Within walking distance to Ye Old Dun Cow which was good for food but a little expensive. Lichfield was pleasant and our family really enjoyed the beautiful park. Canal side farm shop is well worth a visit for food. Nice cafe there and can enjoy a walk by the canal. Thank you Haley and Martin for the Prosecco and welcome items. We have thoroughly enjoyed our week with our family as we booked both properties. First time at Hen House View but we’ve stayed at The Hen House before and would highly recommend both. Strong possibility we’ll be booking again.

Compact cottage with all the facilities and equipment you would need for a holiday.

Great base for visiting the area such as Lichfield, National Arboretum - highly recommend, Uttoxeter, Shrugborough Hall and many others. Living Room/Kitchen - fridge freezer listed but it is actually a fridge with freezer box, cooker very good, sofa comfortable, TV small and too high on the wall for us. Lighting could be brighter. Overall it was OK. Bathroom - beautiful bathroom with separate powerful shower. Nice bright room. Need shelves for your toiletries etc. Bedroom - super king size bed which was very comfortable. Nice bright room once main lights were on. Outdoors - very good hot tub and small secure and private garden area. Plenty of parking space. We enjoyed our stay there and sure others will too.

If you want a little bit of paradise then look no further. It’s Such a wonderful place to stay, cosy and comfortable with everything you need. (The bed is very comfortable, we can’t say that about many other places we’ve stayed at) Great walks to go on around the surrounding areas and then back to relax in the hot tub. Hayley & Martin are fantastic hosts and dealt with a slight problem we had with the hot tub, within the hour of reporting the problem, it was fixed. (Talk about fast service!)

Excellent property lovely quiet location immaculate throughout lovely comfy bed could not fault anything at all hot tub was amazing, the only slight negative comment would be to have a cover over the hot tub weather was pretty awful so if it was covered then would have used it a lot more but still more than enjoyable.

Very happy with our stay at Hen House View the cottage is kitted out with a quality kitchen, bathroom and nice large bed and of course topped off with the lovely hot tub.

Everything you need in the kitchen ie pots, pans, plates and utensils, lovely big freestanding bath and although we didnt use it a nice shower cubicle. The only thing i would change is the TV dont necesarily go away to watch TV but the smart APP kept crashing meaning had to unplug it and plug back in a few time to get it to work properly but we dont consider this a minus from the stay at all. Lovely peaceful area and Ye Olde Dun Cow pub/restaurant is a fantastic place for a meal and very welcoming. Thankyou Hayley and Martyn just what we needed.

Perfectly in every way.

We spent New Year here and it is perfect for a cosy romantic hideaway, like something out of the film The Holiday!

Hen House view is beautifully furnished and well appointed. The king size bed was very comfortable, and the shower and bathtub were lovely. The Christmas cushions and tea towels and cute little Christmas tree made a nice touch. Would highly recommend. The hot tub is a fantastic way to while away a few hours. We loved our stay!

The lodge is beautifully appointed with gorgeous views over the countryside. The bathroom is luxurious and the super king bed super comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need and who knew hot tubs in winter could be so fabulous? The underfloor heating made the lodge so welcoming in this chilly weather and the wood burner was easy to light and very snuggly. The lodge is fitted with thought, care and high quality fixtures. Would definitely recommend.

Our hosts greeted us with a friendly smile and a lovely food starter pack. The property had a lovely modern bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. The hot tub was nicely secluded and lovely and warm. We enjoyed the surrounding areas with plenty to see and visit. I’m sure that we’ll be back next year.

The accommodation is excellent. Kitchen, though small, has everything needed to cook for 2 people . The bathroom is fabulous, the bath is the best we have ever been in. Hot tub just outside the door is wonderful. The bed wonderfully comfortable.

Your want to go over and above to make sure our stay was perfect was very much appreciated. As was the presecco, crisps, milk and shopping recommendations. Firstly, thank you so much to Hayley & Martin for a wonderful stay at your gorgeous, peaceful & relaxing Hen House View. The directions were really helpful and spot on from Hayley, first time we have found a Sykes property straightaway! On arrival and walking in our first impression was 'wow' The Welcome Pack was very informative also the added touches such as Prosecco, milk in the fridge & crisps were very thoughtful and a lovely touch. This property had everything we needed, the bed was so comfortable and the Hot Tub amazing to relax in after our days out, especially after visiting the lovely Cannock Chase. This property was very secure for our dog who made herself at home and loved all the walks on our doorstep. Hayley & Martin were so welcoming and from first impressions we knew that if we did require to contact them they would be there. We visited various places and highly recommend Antlers also Whites Cafe which is very dog friendly, welcoming your dog inside and out. Both did delicious food and the owners were so welcoming & friendly. We went and ordered a takeaway from Shimla Palace where I was very warmly greeted, they were so polite and friendly chatting with me the whole time and their food was superb. All the staff were fantastic. Thank you for such a lovely holiday, it was exactly what we needed at this time also nice to take time to unwind & make memories. Mr & Mrs Bland.

Very clean, well-appointed property in a quiet location.

High quality fixtures and fittings throughout. Lovely warm and private hot tub within a small, secure garden ideal for the dog. Good walks from the cottage, and lots of interesting places to visit a short drive away. Recommend Ye Olde Dun Cow, a 15 minute walk away although they don’t allow dogs indoors.

It was a very lovely place to stay at.

The bed was very comfy, hot tub was easy to use, kitchen was lovely to use. Loved the welcome pack made us feel very welcomed. However a blanket or thinner duvet would have been nicer for the summer. One of the plates seemed to have been glued so was cautious about breaking it. Cooking oil, salt and Pepper would have been great however not necessarily as the pans are non stick. Overall we throughly enjoyed it and would definitely love to come back again.

We had a lovely time at Hen House View, the hot tub was great after long walks with our dog (Meg).

Its only a silly thing, but a shelf in the bathroom would be great, to keep anti-perspirant, toothpaste and bits on. my only reason for this is my husband has a bad back and picking his wash bag off the floor was not ideal. But will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you so much Hayley and Martin you are fantastic host's.

We received good instructions and a friendly welcome from Hayley and Martin.

The place was spotless and no expense spared with its facilities. It was just perfect in its cuteness for a couple and there are plenty of walks nearby and places to visit in the car. The pub in the next village is an easy walk but do book as it gets busy. Great holiday and I wish we could have stayed another week.

It has everything that you need for a relaxing break. The quality of the accommodation is superb and we couldn’t fault it at all. We loved the hot tub which is so easy to use. Hayley and Martin are great hosts (thank you for the bottle of Fizz and Milk - a lovely touch) and they couldn’t do enough for you. Local pub (10/15 mins walk is worth a visit for outstanding food, but it is recommended that you ring up first to book in as it gets full) Some great local attractions nearby as well as some lovely walks. Lovely little property.

Not too far from anywhere but felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Well furnished and plenty of pots , pans and crockery if you want to cook . We haven’t a dog but the property allows them and there are plenty of places to explore with your pet . Nice touch with a bottle of fizz and some milk .

My wife and I have just enjoyed a weekend break in HenHouse View.

All communication prior to arrival, directions etc. were perfect. Greeted by Hayley a short time after arrival who checked everything was in order and briefed us regarding “bits and pieces”. Warm, cozy, quiet and total 100% relaxing for us both…..even our German Shepherd pup enjoyed the hot tub…….errr dropping his ball into it and then waiting for it to be thrown back, never actually in the tub, that pleasure reserved for ourselves, the wine and the stars in the night sky. Thank you, hope to visit soon again!

The accommodation is situated in a very quiet little hamlet and was simply perfect with everything you would ask for.

The Hen House View is a well laid out, comfortable holiday apartment with fantastic facilities, beautiful views and a warm welcome.

The hot tub jacuzzi was amazing, the welcome package generous and thoughtful. Our dog enjoyed the secure outdoor space, as well as snoozing in front of the log burning stove. The countryside around Staffordshire and the easy access to Cannock Chase and Litchfield Cathedral town make this a great holiday destination and escape from the busyness of London.

Stayed four nights at Hen House View.

Set in its own small garden with private hot a tub. House small and compact, excellent for two people. Upmarket appliances, and beautiful bathroom, largest bath we have seen anywhere. Very clean and tidy, no Covid worries, Thankyou. Lovely welcome pack, including bottle of Fizz. Lovely owner, who telephoned us on our travels to say she would be held up, but to make yourself welcome until she could get to us. Lovely walk to Old Dun Cow for Sunday lunch, well worth booking. Would not hesitate to recommend Hen House View.

We enjoyed the tranquility and the facilities. However Sykes needs to alter the description - this is not the Peak District, it's Staffordshire. My bad for not checking!

Loved the hot tub. It has everything you needed and more. Surrounded by wonderful countryside, short walk to Te old Dunn Cow for brilliant food wonderful staff. We will definitely go back and we have already told family and friends about The Hen House View and the bigger 2 bedroom Hen House. Next time we go we will go with our kids and grandkids they can stay in the bigger house we can all eat together have fun together but we would still have out own space. Perfect

Lovely little cottage, had everything that we needed, kitchen and bathroom immaculate.

Hot tub fabulous. Had a great time, would definitely go again.

As this was pet friendly the garden should have been fully enclosed.

Apart from that the cottage is in a lovely place and vety cosy

Hen House View was absolutely wonderful.

It was perfect and the surrounding area was perfect for us and our dog. We are planning to return next year and loved every second! The owners were exceptional in their service - friendly and helpful and we were so grateful for the welcome goodies of bread, butter, cookies, milk and prosecco! The electrician Phil who was working on the lodge next door was also really helpful in assisting us with the best places in the local area. The hot tub, the log burner, the massive bath... all amazing! I recommended to a friend who has booked a well earned holiday there with her dog. Cannot recommend Hen House View highly enough. Absolutely loved it! Nearby pub the Greyhound is lovely and dog friendly and we really enjoyed walks in the local area such as Cannock Chase and the surrounding areas such as the village of Colton and Blithfield Reservoir. The only reason I have given Sykes a 5 is because of their phone calls and emails requesting feedback while we were away. It really wasn't necessary to have our well earned break interrupted in this way. I did address this with them and I did get an apology via email and then the calls ceased so I did appreciate Sykes taking note of my comments.

Hen house view is a lovely quiet place to stay.

Me and my husband went for our first ever weekend away together without our children and we definitely picked the right place. The hot tub was lovely even though the weather was a bit hit and miss. Hayley and Martin are so welcoming, even offering to lend us wellies so we can take a walk into the local village after a lot of rain. Will definitely recommend.

Hayley and Martins Hen house retreat was outstanding,the Christmas welcoming pac was beautiful and well thought out and it didn't end there a nice bottle of prosecco in the fridge the log burner was ready for lighting, not that we needed to as the heating was on and it was really warm the jacusee was ready to use.

And we could not thank Hayley and Martin enough for a lovely week away over the christmas break I must also say what a lovely couple, we are looking forward to going back to the Hen house on a summer break. Last comment the Hen house is first class luxury accommodation

We had the most peaceful and magical stay at Hen House, it was so clean and cosy.

Hayley and Martin (the owners) were so helpful, welcoming and pleasant. When we arrived, we had a little treat awaiting us which was such a nice touch! The floors are heated which keeps the cottage nice and cosy. We were left all the logs for the log fire and it was just beautiful. The hot tub is amazing whatever season. We went early December, we had a little rain but it was so refreshing while sat in the hot tub. The sky’s were clear at night, making the moon and stars visible. A short walk to the Dunn Cow pub which has friendly staff and beautiful food! We stayed 3 nights and couldn’t of easily stayed another 3. We will definitely be back and highly recommend for all ages.

The lodge was beautiful.

The location was excellent, peaceful and relaxing. No one overlooked the lodge or hot tub. The hot tub was brilliant, clean, hot and very relaxing. The unexpected little treats on arrival made the stay even more enjoyable. The log fire was fantastic and heated up the whole lodge very quickly. The bed was super comfy. EVERYTHING about the stay here was perfect.

Warm & cosy with everything we could need in the living/kitchen area. The bed is comfortable & enormous! Beautiful bathroom with a huge bath and large walk-in shower. Hot tub a couple of steps out of the door - perfect. Large floor to ceiling window is a great feature, brings the countryside in. All quality appliances & nicely decorated. Hosts Hayley & Martin were great, welcomed us & were on hand if needed for advice on the local area. Hope to be back in the near future... thank you!

Absolutely stunning location.

The cottage is finished to a high standard and has everything you need. It is set in a very quiet locaton with a beautiful view. Definitely worth a visit.
