Description

Bridgnorth 3.9 miles. The Garden Lodge is a delightful, single storey lodge set in the owner’s extensive mature garden, within the hamlet of Criddon. The lodge was a former Air Force barracks wash house but now offers a romantic retreat for couples looking to escape normal life and see what Shropshire has to offer. Boasting an open-plan living space, here you can prepare home-cooked meals within the kitchen before settling down in front of the TV, choosing a good film to watch as you ease into the evening. Move into the double bedroom to catch your rest, housing ample storage plus an en-suite shower room where you prepare for the day. The wow factor of this property is the gorgeous garden, boasting almost an acre of mature trees and shrubs, making this is an ideal base for any naturalist or garden lover. The patio area is perfect for alfresco dining on a balmy evening or for sitting under the stars toasting marshmallows over the firepit. Venture into Bridgnorth in search of a souvenir to take back home, before stopping off at a traditional pub or restaurant to quench your thirst and sample a delicious meal. The surrounding area is filled with natural beauty; explore country parks, impressive houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, and Ironbridge Gorge, considered the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. History lovers will be drawn to the 16th century Elizabethan manor, Upton Cressett Hall or the remains of Bridgnorth Castle, a 12th century structure that was demolished upon Oliver Cromwell’s orders. The River Severn is not far away and provides an idyllic setting for riverside walks and cycles. The Garden Lodge offers a delightful base for couples to call home, providing access to many quaint towns and villages in Shropshire.

Really friendly owners.

Excellent welcome pack. looks like a shed from outside but spacious and personalised inside. Yes the water is very hot. Could not find any microwavable containers. Very quiet and good value.

What a wonderful retreat.

The welcome pack was amazing and not more could be asked for. The gardens were great even though we were in drought condition's. A truely great retreat. Wholly rec-amended.

A wonderfully quaint hideaway in a superbly landscaped garden (sadly suffering from heatwave and drought when we were there) but many interesting plants, shrubs and trees.

In the lodge, furnishings, fittings and decor were quality and the welcome pack was very much appreciated! The lodge is provided with maps, books, TV, and many ideas on how to spend your time there. The accommodation is spacious and visitors can use the garden as if it were their own - all in all, a lovely place to stay for a short or longer break.
