“We have had a great few nights stay at John's folly.”

Alana the owner was very helpful in assisting us to find good walks for the dog and was really knowledgeable about the area. The cabin is well equipped and the view out of the windows was spectacular! The only difficulty we had was it was a very hot few days and the sun was directly on the front of the lodge and we had no way to cool it down as there are no curtains or blinds! The temperature was very high at times and we struggled to try to keep ourselves cool! Perhaps an idea to invest in ...

I’m so sorry you were struggling with the heat. So if you opened the French doors on the decking, and the windows and doors towards the back of the cabin you get a through draft that has kept me cool during hot temperatures. I have never needed a fan in my years of staying there in summer, as the bedroom is always in the shade with the trees? Wish you had messaged and I could have instructed! Property Owner

“A lovely cabin with fabulous views.”

Alana the owner has thought of everything from the well equipped kitchen to a quiet rainy night in with a selection of dvds! We was fortunate enough to have blue skies throughout our stay so a chair, a beer and simply looking at the views was our entertainment. The garden could do with a little makeover so guests can use the grassed area. Thank you Alana for our lovely cosy stay Colin, Tracy and Bear xxx

the accommodation was comfortable and clean and very cosy. Walks on your doorstep so great for dog owners with a good selection of dog friendly pubs to walk too. Would recommend the Spring Rock for great food. Stunning views from the property.

“John’s Folly is a beautiful cabin in stunning surrounds with the most amazing view.”

Exceptionally comfortable with all the amenities you could wish for. The cabin is particularly special in the late afternoon when the decking and lounge is bathed in sunshine. You don’t need to leave the place to have the most amazing stay. But should you wish, there are walks from the doorstep and a town with all amenities near by. Fantastic communication from the owner and very helpful recommendations. Would definitely recommend and visit again, thank you.

“Very peaceful location, clean property and responsive host, would certainly recommend this place if you're looking for a peaceful get away as a couple or with a small family.”

The driveway is suitable for one car but we managed to get two on there at a squeeze! There is also parking a little further up if needed, we had no issues parking there and using the cones to protect the wing mirrors!

“My brief stay John's Folly was brilliant and I wish it could have been longer.”

Exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. Everything worked. Immaculate kitchen and shower, where all utensils and appliances are of a very high standard. The option of log burner was great - not needed for me as the lodge was really warm and cosy despite the freezing weather. Many smaller touches for added comfort show the owner's keen attention to detail and understanding of people's needs made my stay very special. Highly recommend.

“The property is very nice , with lovely views.”

The log burning stove is a particular highlight. Alana the host was very responsive, and had thought of all of the amenities you could need and went above and beyond with what was provided. The location (Norland) is very handy for Calderdale, in the dark it can be difficult to see from the road and parking is down a steep drive, which in the dark especially was a bit awkward (for a small car) as it is next to quite a busy country road. Overall, we had a great stay and really appreciate the effort the host has went to, in the brighter months this would be an amazing place to stay
