“Simply superb.”

Difficult to find any fault, warm, light, lovely views from the living space, well equipped kitchen. Showers excellent, especially after a wet day on the hills! Really comfortable beds and furnishings. Would definitely stay again

“Lodhe was very good in all aspects with two minor exceptions.”

Firstly, the beds in the twin rooms were pretty uncomfortable for sleeping. Secondly, the approach up the hill to the lodge was not for the faint hearted with a heavily rutted track all the way up. Besides the two minor issues everything else was really good. Great showers, great heating system and lots of living space.

“What a fantastic lodge in such a beautiful spot in a lovely Scottish town.”

I have only given 4 for Comfort as I like a softer bed these are hard, but our friends who were with us loved the beds. The Lodge itself is lovely and clean and very welcoming as you walk in, it has everything you need and fantastic views. The Town has plenty of places to eat lots of take always and a couple of supermarkets if you want to dine in. The Golf Course is worth a go, a good test for any standard of golfer just watch out for the holes crossing the river they are a challenge. Few distillery's around the area Blair Attol at Pithlocry well worth a visit and our guide was very knowledgeable about their products and a good tasting session afterwards. Definitely recommend the lodge for your base to stay.

“We had a family weekend break (6 adults) and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!”

The owner was very helpful and was always on hand to answer any questions we had. The accommodation felt luxurious but had a relaxed vibe and was perfectly situated about half a mile outside Aberfeldy were there were shops, restaurants and cafes. We would definitely go back! Thankyou.

“It was one of our best holiday experiences.”

The property was located in a beautiful location very close to a lot of naturally scenic places, at the same time plenty of shops, est outs and pubs within walking distance. The view opposite the cottage, what we face when we get up in the morning was picturesque. The cottage itself was quite clean, elegant and nice. Everything was in order, the amenities were excellent quality. We received timely updates from the cottage about key collection, the app showed how many days left for our holidays etc. The coordination and communication were excellent. Overall a great experience and an amazing holiday experience.

“We had a fantastic stay over the New Year period.”

The lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and had spectacular views. We were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during our stay! The lodge is in a great location and just a short walk or drive into Aberfeldy, it can be very dark at night though so a torch is recommended if walking. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and hope to return again in the future.

“There is potential for a 5 star rating but a couple of niggles for us on our stay.”

We messaged the mobile number on our arrival to ask about fuel for the fire and had a response on Tuesday ( good job it wasn't a major incident) I called and left a message for the owner on the Saturday, who did come back within a couple of hours and was extremely helpful. The main settee cushions slide when you sit on them so constantly need readjusted. During the first readjustment we found a partial packet of cigarettes down the side of the cushions. As non smokers we put them in the bin by the fire. We had 2 - 3 inches if snow on the Tuesday night and couldn't get our car into the site due to the steep slopes. There's grit and salt around the site but too far apart it was a hard slog trying to clear the hill from the supplies at the bottom of the hill, so unless you have a 4 x4 this might not be the place to visit in winter! Had to leave the car at the adventure centre car park. Tip here; if you have to leave your car there, email them as they are very friendly, helpful and will keep an eye out on their cctv! Heating is good, however as the stat is in the hall and not in the main lounge, this gets warm quickly shuts down heating for the rest of the lodge which can be uncomfortable: Since they don't want you to adjust this, I found that turning down the trv valve (<3) on the radiator in the hall and turning up those in the main lodge (4) gave a comfortable heat. A final gripe: there was no heating on the last morning (normally on 7 -10) and temperatures down to 14 degrees on the thermostat reading and for some reason the "boost" didn't help. Where I understand that property is vacated at 10:00 and doors will be opened as we take everything out, it would be better to have this on "say till 8:30" so we are a bit more comfortable with our breakfast, coffee in the morning and getting out of the shower. Overall it's a great lodge, lots of space and if we were to return for another break in the area, this would be on our list to return.

“Place was not easy to find (not clearly marked by house number) but owners were easy to reach and lovely.”

We were there in the winter, in the midst of a storm and the place was cold. The instructions to boost the heat did not seem to work for us.

Sorry to hear you couldn’t work the heating, it is very simple, one push on the boost button and it boosts for an hour to the desired temp, If you are still cold simply push it again and it will boost for another hour Property Owner

Immaculately clean. Comfortable beds. Full facilities. The view is exceptional. The setting peaceful. Perfect. I don't want to give any negative feedback particularly for something that is outwith the owners control but will echo another guests feedback and say that the road to the lodge does need a more permanent surface. We will definitely return. Thank you for sharing your beautiful lodge.

“What a lovely lodge just on the outskirts of Aberfeldy beside the Dewars Distillery.”

The lodge was well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The views were absolutely stunning. Early in our last morning I sat and watched a big rabbit and a pheasant just in front of the lodge. Every day we watched many sparrows and birds. It was blissfully and very relaxing. I liked it so much my sister has booked a stay here.

“Stunning lodge in a beautiful location , place was immaculately clean on arrival.”

Owners have thought of all and was very well equipped with all you need for a short or longer break. Absolute bliss to sit out on balcony in the mornings and evenings to see the sunset . Aberfeldy has some lovely little shops, cafes and restaurants and a short drive to Taymouth marina for water sports and food /drinks loch side is a must. Would highly recommend and definitely will return for a longer stay.

“Amazing lodge that had everything you need.”

So peaceful & relaxing. The owners really have made it a home from home . My only concern was the drive until to the lodge , this really needs to have tarmac rather than the stones . Not the best for your wheels .

“Fabulous south facing lodge overlooking the river Tay about a quarter of a mile from Aberfeldy.”

Lovely balcony where you can watch the sunset over the hills. Clean and comfortable with everything that was required for a 2 night stay with family. Only issue we had was that each morning when there were 6 of us to get showers, the last couple of showers were look warm or cold. Not sure what the hot water settings were as never had access to the boiler but it might be that a boost to those settings would have been sufficient to allow all of us to get hot showers. Apart from this minor detail we had a great stay and would definitely stay again.

“We are a family of 5 (children aged 8,11,14) and stayed at 2 Strathtay lodges in February half term.”

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The lodge was spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm, and comfortable. Even down to little plug in night lights which came on automatically at night (perfect for our 8 year old). We cooked at the lodge rather than eating out, the kitchen was better equipped than our one at home. Everything had been thought of. We could have quite happily lived here forever. If internet is important to you, it’s worth noting this can be a bit sporadic. This wasn’t an issue for us. The view from the lodge more than compensated! I took so many photos, it’s a shame you can’t put them in a review! In terms of location, we found Aberfeldy well placed if you don’t mind a drive. The main roads up to the north are easy to drive on, and we drove up to The Cairngorms and Aviemore, Dalwhinnie distillery (highly recommended!) The town itself has a small Co op and Asda petrol station - we had a run to Perth which was about 45 mins for a big supermarket shop. There is an excellent bike hire shop at the bottom of the road to the lodge, which my bike mad 14 year old was more than happy with, and MTB routes up from Aberfeldy are excellent. Biking is a great way to explore. There is also a place to book rafting, wrong time of year for us, but we would have definitely done this if we had visited later in the year. Walking routes are brilliant, we had a lovely afternoon walking round the Birks of Aberfeldy, and down by the river. It is worth seeking out local knowledge for locations. For an active family this is an absolute five star holiday. The lodge is perfect to come back to after a day of adventure. We would stay here again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

“A beautiful lodge with fantastic views.”

It was very well appointed and comfortable. We found it very cold overnight (February and frosty) and it took quite a while to heat up. The bathrooms were particularly cold. The access road up to the lodges is very rough and, being built on a steep hill would not be good for children even in pushchairs or the elderly. For reasonably fit people the walk into Aberfeldy is about 15 minutes.

The market town of Aberfeldy stands on the River Tay amidst beautiful scenery in rural Perthshire. Famous for its association with Burns and his poem The Birks Of Aberfeldy, and also the bridge built for General Wade in 1733, Aberfeldy is just south of Glen Lyon, known as the longest, loneliest, and loveliest glen in Scotland. There is much to attract the visitor in addition to the spectacular scenery. There is a 10 mile riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as numerous paths through forest and countryside. In addition, Aberfeldy is on the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Route 7. Whitewater rafting on the River Tay is an exhilarating way to enjoy the scenery. Castle Menzies is a wonderful 16th century castle, now fully restored and open to visitors. Take a distillery tour at Dewar’s World of Whisky on the edge of town. Sample the many bars, restaurants and cafes in the town and explore the galleries and craft shops, including the Scottish Chocolate Centre. The Scottish Crannog Centre offers a glimpse into Iron Age life and Loch Tay offers a multitude of watersports, while Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are on your doorstep. An hours drive brings you to 30 Munros, just waiting to be 'bagged'!
