Blackbrae Cabin

Lovely cosy, comfortable cabin.

Lots of space for two and very private. There was so much greenery and spectacular views it was like being in tree house. Lots of birdsong, beautiful sunsets and clear night skies to enjoy the moon and stars. Decked area to make the most of the evenings. We were lucky and had the most amazing weather. Inside was spacious and provided everything we needed for our week long stay. Hans was an excellent host and on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. He had great ideas for places to visit and enjoy. This wonderful cabin is in the middle of nowhere but at the centre of accessibility to all you need, shops, motorway, countryside, places of interest. There was also car parking. We absolutely loved and shall return.

A beautiful quiet location for a relaxing break and a great base to explore the area.

The hosts are amazing, so helpful and informative of destinations and trails to follow locally and further afield. Hans even got his tools out on an early Sunday morning to go under our car and help my husband fix the undertray that was hanging off!! Aggie gave me the name & address of an award winning butchers so we could bring back lots of Scottish food for ourselves and family. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The cabin itself was lovely inside , comfy bed, with everything we needed in the kitchen.

The shower left a lot to be desired, the water pressure wasn’t good and it wasn’t because we had flushed the toilet or run the kitchen tap. Unfortunately it was a bit damp whilst we were there but the approach to the cabin was quite scruffy and slippy, the steep steps up we were aware of but the approach from the top of the steps to the cabin was very narrow , not ideal when raining because of the big leylandii trees. The area was good for visiting Glasgow and Falkirk. The parking was also very tight.

Good links to the motorway network with Glasgow within easy reach; also Edinburgh a little further away. Hans, the proprietor, is very helpful and welcoming. Perhaps it would be helpful if general instructions were updated, but Hans always available with any problems. Very enjoyable stay.

This was a lovely quirky cabin.

Parking was difficult for us. A very steep driveway. The steps up to the cabin would be hard for elderly or disabled people. The accommodation was lovely. Quiet and peaceful and everything provided for a comfy cosy retreat. TV wasn't great but we weren't bothered about this

I had the absolute pleasure of spending 2 weeks at Blackbrea.

Hans and Aggie were the most accommodating hosts I've had the privilege to meet. From the time I arrived to the time I left, they made me feel like I was one of the family. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The pictures honestly don't do it justice. It's along a quiet road, very close to the beautiful pastures and close to the city and amenities. Hans and Aggie are incredibly personable. They made me feel like part of the family. I couldn't have planned a better stay. I will definitely be back and will recommend staying here. Perfect. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories.

The place is quiet, cozy, and full of character — perfect for a relaxing break. The surroundings are peaceful, and everything was clean and well-maintained. We especially appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere, which made us feel right at home. Myself and my husband had a lovely 2 night stay at Blackbrae Cabin.

It was a fantastic base for visiting Glasgow and it felt like we were in a tree house with the bushes and trees growing up and round encapsulating us in our little bubble.

The chalet was cosy and the kitchen facilities were excellent.

Hans (the host) was friendly and helpful. The cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling are within easy reach by road.

The cabin is a joy to behold and so comfortable that you quickly fall behind with your plans! Perfectly placed to visit both coasts in one trip. Hans, the owner, is an absolute gent - entertaining, helpful and a font of knowledge both local and much further afield. Heartily recommend and hope to return.

Nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make us feel welcome whilst respecting our privacy. The Cabin is lovely, well equipped and well designed. It has been constructed with love and attention to detail. We felt cosy, comfortable and at ease. The Cabin is also well positioned for easy access to so many amazing places to visit. We highly recommend and would very much like to visit again.

Bed was very comfortable. Hans and Aggie are great hosts, nothing is too much bother and great advice for those who don’t know the area. Very secluded and peaceful but a great base for many of the great nearby attractions and even a bit of island hopping. Great views go without saying.

The private cabin was as described and more. It was super cosy and just what we wanted for a couples retreat for the weekend. We had a very warm welcome from Hans, who made us feel right at home ! Thanks for the great stay.

The "cabin" had everything for a comfortable stay and our host was very helpful and friendly and tried to sort any issues we had, although we did find the shower sometimes was a bit hit and miss also the parking was a little tricky.

It has to be said that the path leading up to the cabin would benefit from a good clean and tidy but I suppose all this was a reflection in the price. .

It’s a real lovely place to stay and Hans is a friendly and helpful host.

Nice and quiet. Lots of birds singing in the morning. The WiFi needs some improvement; Hans was already on to that. There are a few steps and a little path to reach the cabin; you have your own, very private, patio with outdoor furniture and bbq. Amazing views .

The cabin was incredibly comfy to stay in, it's quiet and secluded and has everything that is needed for a nice bit of time away.

I had an amazing time here with my partner and I will keep it in mind for when he returns to Scotland again. :)

Blackbrae Cabin is an excellent value-for-money base, to explore the Scottish Central Belt - with easy access to Glasgow & Edinburgh via the nearby Gartcosh Railway Station (2 miles, with free car park) .

... The cabin itself was perfectly neat & tidy, with nice little touches provided by Hans (the owner), such as a complimentary welcome pack & complimentary toiletries (better than most hotels) - and during our winter stay, the cosy log burner topped it off .... Attractions such as The Kelpies, The Falkirk Wheel and The William Wallace Monument are all within easy driving distance. Many thanks to mine host, Hans, for his friendly and very informative hospitality ....

We had a very quiet and relaxing week in Black Brae.

Well equipped, very modern and comfortable accomodation. And Hans, the owner, is a very friendly and helpful person. Close to the big cities and attractions, the cabin is offering a really nice vacation, giving you a nice feeling of "at home". We'll definitely go back next year to do Ben Nevis and to enjoy again the staying at Black Brae. Thank you Hans! Well done!

An amazing location with peace and quite 24 hrs a day, Hans could not have been more helpful and informative, we even had "goodies" in the fridge and cupboards on arriving just to see us through, {the wine went down well}.

I would highly recommend a stay at the cabin.
