Wilderness Lodge is an amazing property, set in an idyllic location!

While the route up is perhaps not for the faint hearted (particularly if you don't have a four wheel drive as it's mainly a single lane track with raised drainage and rocks/gravel), once there, you have everything you could possibly need for a perfect break away from the hustle and bustle of regular life. Carmen and Stuart have thought of everything visitors could need and then some. Though the interior can be a little dark, particularly if you're wanting to do some reading, we were lucky enough to have amazing weather so spent a lot of time sitting under the parasol on the decking area and/or under the cover of the roof on the veranda. This provided ample opportunity to watch the numerous birds who visited the bird house (a mini wilderness lodge) and other feeding stations which we topped up while there. There's also loads of butterflies and some friendly squirrels too. Unfortunately, we didn't see the rabbits or partridges noted in the visitor book this time. Lots of interesting sites from the area's past and of natural beauty are within walking distance of the lodge including Snailbeach mine, Shepherd's rock and the Devil's Chair. There's also the local shop and very accommodating Stiperstones Inn, just down the track from the lodge which offers great food, whether you're a vegan, vegetarian or meat/fish eater. The shop really has to be seen to be believed...it's a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from outside! Really loved this place and hope to be able to visit again soon. It's been quite a shock to return to reality since our stay there, perhaps proof of how good a break we had.

What an incredible place Wilderness Lodge is.

Nestled in the heart of nature, you’re surrounded by peaceful woodland, regular visits from cheeky squirrels, and a soundtrack provided by more than 14 different bird species. The common chiffchaffs, in particular, seem absolutely convinced everyone wants to hear their latest hits, and to be fair, I didn’t mind one bit. Despite the outside temperature reaching a scorching 34°C, the lodge stayed wonderfully cool thanks to the shelter of the surrounding trees. If sunbathing is more your thing, there’s still plenty of space to sit out and soak up the sunshine. Inside, the lodge is spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly cosy. It’s equipped with everything you could possibly need, and then some. Everywhere you look, there are thoughtful little touches that make you smile and give the place so much character. It’s obvious that a lot of care and love has gone into creating such a special retreat. I can’t recommend Wilderness Lodge highly enough. I’m fairly new to holiday lodges, but I have a feeling this has set the bar ridiculously high. Everywhere else has a lot to live up to!

We absolutely loved our stay at Wilderness Lodge!

The setting was peaceful and surrounded by nature, making it a perfect escape from the noise and pace of everyday life. Waking up to fresh air and the sounds of birds was a real highlight. The cabin itself was extremely cosy and well-maintained, full of character while still offering modern comforts. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could possibly need, and we especially enjoyed the great selection of board games—perfect for relaxing evenings in. The Stiperstones Inn is well worth a visit—I'd recommend booking ahead if you’re planning to go on a weekend as it gets busy. John’s Stop Shop also has a great selection of essentials, which was really handy for the little bits we had forgotten. Overall, we’d highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway. We will definitely be coming back!

The Lodge is even better than it looks in the photos.

It has a warm comfy and welcoming vibe. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The Lodge has everything you could need to relax and enjoy your break. It is in a beautiful setting and so very peaceful. The hot tub took a while to get the hang off but once up and running was amazing. The shop in the village stocks everything you could imagine and The Stiperstones inn does great food if you want a night off from cooking, both of which within a 10 minute walk, though maybe 15 on the way back up the hill,if unfit like me. We came home thoroughly rested and relaxed and would love to visit again. Would definitely highly recommend.

Fabulous lodge in a great location with everything you need.

Only downside we had was the hot tub, no trouble lighting it but it took 4 hours to heat and was still cold at the bottom so feel there might be an issue with a circulation pump. Would definitely love to do a return visit next year.

Just wow, what a beautiful gem we have had the pleasure of discovering. Thank you for letting us have one of the best holiday experienves ever, it was honestly magical and we wanted for nothing. The shop had anything you could think of and the people are so friendly. We enjoyed our stay more than words can express. Thank you so much.

Absolutely adored our time at the Wilderness Lodge!

So peaceful and cosy. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was super comfortable and TV with Sky and Netflix was a bonus. Very warm with central heating a log fire. Lovely area for walks and countryside. We struggled to get the hot tub going which is a shame so I think further instruction may be needed to fan it . Everything else was perfect.

A very enjoyable stay.

Cabin was warm and cosy. A very narrow bumpy lane to reach cabin but worth the journey. Would recommend taking your own logs for hot tub. Property at the foot of the Stiperstones Nature Reserve. Very hilly area, not really suitable for cycling but lovely walks.

We had the most relaxing stay at Wilderness Lodge.

Highly recommended for couples and families that need a break from the hustle and bustle of life! We will definitely return.

Excellent property, much bigger than pictures show, very spacious.

Very comfortable, warm, clean and cosy and utterly peaceful. Owners excellent with a "nothing too much trouble" attitude and it was a pleasure to meet them. Ample equipment and utensils throughout but would have liked the description of property to have included hairdryer, small worktop freezer and iron and board as, had we known that, it would have helped reduce the equipment we brought but that is a very minor thing indeed. Unique wall decorations and lighting were great. Felt the distance to The Inn was misleading. A lot further than a 10 minute walk for two elderly people and certainly return walk a lot longer! All in all a superb property in an idyllic setting. Would recommend it to everyone but would like to keep it "our secret".

Wilderness Lodge is exactly as described.

The owners were very responsive and helpful when a minor glitch occurred. The setting is perfect for walkers and those wanting peace and quiet with beautiful surroundings. The cabin was amazing , clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you need .

Our perfect retreat.

Our second visit this year to wilderness lodge. It's simply perfect. Wonderful location yet in easy walking distance to the lovely village of Stiperstones. With its great pub and village store, which i think sells everything. The lodge has everything you need for a short or long stay. Its beautifully presented on arrival with fresh flowers and a cake. The beds are the most comfortable ones I've ever slept in. The kitchen has everything you need with a fantastic array of utensils and pots and pans! We loved just sitting out on the front listening to nothing only bird song.the hot tub was amazing, and you have so many options for seating around the outside of the lodge everyone can find their favorite spot to chill out.Thank you Carmen and family for having such a wonderful bolt hole. It's honestly one of a kind. And we are planning a break later in the year already

Wonderful place, totally peaceful and a real and welcome break to spend time in.

Wilderness Lodge is Amazing we have stayed 3 times now over 3 Yrs.

The Cabin has excellent facilities and the surrounding area is amazing. Walking in the Hills is Great and easy access to the village Pub which is really cosy good food and drink and very Friendly.

Had a lovely 3 night break here for my partners birthday with our two friends.

The lodge is out of this world!!! The decor is simply amazing and compliments the wooden lodge so much. Sofas and beds comfortable, great bathroom facilities and the kitchen has so much you can comfortably cook great meals for your self. The outside is just as perfect. So relaxing hearing the stream flowing, birds tweeting. We didn't hear a single car during our stay. The wood fired hot tub was good but took a lot of work to get going. Took 4 hours and a lot of wood to get to a temperature where we could comfortably get in but was worth it in the end. Also loved the fresh homemade carrot cake and flowers left for our arrival. Lovely touch! All in all, fantastic stay and would book again.

It take a lot more than 3 hours to heat the Hottub but thank you anyway loved it.

Really great 'getaway' location for walking the hills and enjoying the panoramic views.

The lodge is remarkably warm and cosy (we stayed three nights with very cold wind outside) even without using the wood-burning stove. Kitchen is clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds. Hot water no problem. We liked the lodge very much and hope to stay again. (PS: The quirky little shop next to the pub down the lane seems to sell almost everything!)

The Wilderness Lodge was a delight.

Arriving to see such a super location and opening the door to find such cosy accommodations. It was spotlessly clean throughout and equipped with everything one could need. For me location was key, to be able to walk from the door and up into the Stiperstones Nature Reserve was perfect. I loved the dark skies and the peace and quiet. The cake was lovely, too!

This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay, peacefully buried amongst the hills and woods.

The character of the Lodge has been carefully created and it is comfortable and spacious. Location near a well stocked shop AND good pub is excellent although anyone with a low sports car might struggle with the lane to the property. Recommended additions for even more perfection would be a shaving socket in bathroom(s) for shaver or electric toothbrush and lidded bin for outdoor rubbish (it is raided by the wildlife). Wonderful place - thank you.

The lodge is absolutely lovely, so warm and welcoming bed extremely comfy, has everything you need to cook in the kitchen.

Only thing missing was a bath the shower was not great atall, hot tub was a fab extra but we missed the jet/bubbles. The surroundings are beautiful, most peaceful tranquility we’ve felt in ages. The downhill walk was rough but worth it for the views, the shop and pub was nice but food wasn’t up to our standards. I would definitely go again if they installed a bath. The owners were just lovely spoke a few times on the phone, and throughly enjoyed the cake that was left for us thank you

Enjoyed the visiting wildlife ( birds & squirrels ) the lodge was clean and well equipped. We loved our stay there. Would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fairly remote place to stay & enjoy.

First class lodge in very pretty and secluded, peaceful setting.

The only downside was how dark it is inside, lights needed to be on all the time. Otherwise it was great, surrounded by great scenery and lots of local walks. The local friendly pub served good food and lots to do in this part of Shropshire.

The lodge had everything we needed and then some.

Very comfortable , cosy and tastefully decorated. Very peaceful surroundings. With birds and squirrels everywhere. We were reluctant to leave. Our stay was perfect

Fantastic property in amazing surroundings.

Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We very much enjoyed our stay. Great pub and shop at the bottom of the lane, well worth a visit or two. It is quite a steep walk back up the lane to the lodge though. Some great, if a little tiring, walks in the area too. Just 2 minor issues, the shower is far too small and the wood fired hot tub took an entire day to heat up to a reasonably comfortable temperature and needed constant feeding so we couldn't go anywhere. Fix these issues, ie electric hot tub and larger walk in shower, and we'd be booking annually.

The only negative we had was the hot tub which you had to light and heat up to much hassle other than that the place was amazing

Honestly this place is a little gem , perfect location lovely cosy warm secluded log cabin with everything you could want you would have to go a log way to find better !

Loved the wood fired hot tub especially on a frosty dark winters night . 10 mins from the local pub and shop The atmosphere in the pub was full of locals and they made us feel very welcome , great home cooked food ,shops a little Aladdin's cave . would love to return one day, thank you Stuart & Carmen xx P.s the cake was yummy !!

Wilderness Lodge was an amazing, idyllic, beautiful place.

Not even the wind and rain could take anything away from this lodge, in fact it gave it even more character especially with the Wood fire hot tub. Will definitely stay there again, a first class property with everything you could need. The mince pies left for us on arrival was a lovely touch.

Fantastic place, warm, cosy all mod cons, home from home but in a rural location, couldn't be a better retreat.

A few little tweets could make it better still, but all in all a totally unique experience.

Beautiful secluded Log Cabin!

Facilities are spot on with the added bonus of fully functional broadband and sky glass tv! Bed is very comfy, shower very warm and pressure is great! Kitchen facilities are brilliant- washing machine and dishwasher! Stunning views. Highly recommended! If you are a big walker as well this is the place for you, hills all around for challenging walking. And the pub location is accurate with a 15 minutes walk and the food is amazing! Book in advance though as they are very busy!

What a find , definitely correct the name Wilderness Cottage, very peaceful and idyllic and away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Needed to stay longer as didn’t get time to take advantage of the hot tub or venture up the hill to the amazing walks. Apart from a slight problem with the shower ( which the owner replied to me even though it was very late at night) it was a comfortable, quiet place to stay and we were greeted with a delicious cake too. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

My wife and I really enjoyed our recent stay at Wilderness Lodge for our 30th wedding anniversary, the setting was idyllic, peaceful and just what we wanted, lovely evening walks to the local pub serving good honest pub grub.

we can't wait to re-book and return next year. The lodge itself was well equipped, clean and relaxing.

Stunning lodge which really is wilderness, it has a little natural pond with running water which is beautiful to watch and listen too, also bird table has plenty of birds visiting and a squirrel.

Plenty of lovely thick towels and well equipped lodge with board games, Netflix, Wi-Fil, the local shop is a treasure with really competitive prices…… I only regret not having a longer stay… could easily enjoyed a fortnight here….. well done owners you have a real gem Also I didn’t check my room as thoroughly as I thought and had gotten almost all the way back to Yorkshire before I realised I’d left my Barbour Gilet on the room door…. Nothing was too much trouble when the owner contacted me, she had it returned in the mail that day sending me a receipt with tracking number and her compliments ….. am blown away by the service … thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for some peace and quiet

Absolutely beautiful place and location, very clean, warm and cosy, very isolated but at the same time not too far from shops, also with the addition of decent broadband and good quality tv with sky glass and added extras, hot tub very relaxing, i could go on, could not find anything to fault, just perfect, would recommend to anyone.

Went for our 4th wedding anniversary and started off rough.

About ten minutes from the lodge our car broke, but a lovely couple nearby drove me to the lodge and let my husband stay in their home while he waited 4 hours for RAC, lovely people in the area. Our expectations of the lodge where exactly what we were expecting. The lodge is amazing, peaceful, relaxing. We had everything we needed for our weekend. Exceptional place exactly as described. The hot tub was lovely once we finally got the temperature right, took a while to heat though. I would love to return for longer and definitely would recommend, worth every penny.

The most stunning place I’ve stayed with everything you need , truly amazing

A very peaceful stay surrounded by nature.

Waking up to a view of the trees and birds/squirrels on the bird feeder was just what we were looking for. Perfect location for walkers with a woodfire hot tub to relax in the evenings (takes a little while to get going but a lovely bonus). The local pub serves nice food and has very friendly staff. The lodge itself is private and cosy - only recommendation would be to bring your own blankets as none are provided and we felt these were needed in the evenings especially if we wanted to sit outside with a good book and a cup of tea. Overall a wonderful relaxing stay

The property is based in a very tranquil and peaceful location.

Unfortunately compared to other 4.8 to 5 star properties it does not compare. We had an issue with an awful smell from the cesspit which got worse as the week went on and on a lot of occasions it was unbearable and made it impossible to enjoy our time at the Lodge. The hot tub took an awful long time to get to temperature and then was hard to control - alot of effort involved. The shower cubicle was very basic and leaked in several places on to the floor. The bed was comfortable and even though there was a cover on the mattress it was very stained which doesn't look very nice. As in previous reviews the track leading to the lodge is quite rough and care does need to be taken ,especially if you have a sports car or low profile tyres. Having said all of this the Lodge is well presented, clean and has everything you require for a self catering holiday. Would highly recommend the local pub - Stiperstones Inn- great atmosphere, good pub food, very reasonably priced.

Wilderness Lodge is a real escape from busy day-to-day life but with all the modern conveniences.

It's clean and comfortable and a great base for exploring the Shropshire Hills and surrounding areas.

Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

The property is clean and comfortable. Plenty of birds in the garden - Nuthatch, Goldcrest, Jays, Pheasants & even an owl. The wood fired hot tub needed perseverance, but was great after long days out and about. There's access to walks from your door - its a strenuous walk up to the Stiperstones - but its well worth the effort. The Bog Visitors Centre is informative, includes a tea room with delicious cakes & is run by local volunteers. A 10 to 15min walk (uphill on the way back!) gets you to the local shop and pub. Thank you for a lovely weeks stay.

Our 4th time at the lodge and it is honestly the best holiday you can have.

Absolute peace and quiet an amazing place to unwind and recharge.

The property was exactly as described - secluded, tranquil and a real break away from it all.

The hot tub was an absolute must after stomping all over the Stiperstones, and a delight watching the goldcrest and other birds bouncing around the trees while we were relaxing. The only minor complaint was that the bed was too soft for me, and the bedding used didn't really fit so had to be remade every day. But that was only a slight niggle in an otherwise flawless week.

This lodge is really beautiful and very well equipped.

Stunning views and lovely fire and hot tub. There is no DVD player, but have all the channels, Netflix, I Player etc, can't really grumble, the track upto the lodge could do with redoing, lots of very uneven ground, not suitable for sports cars or very low suspension, as we struggled a bit in a mini.

We've recently returned from a fabulous week at The Wilderness.

It is so remote, so peaceful and in a stunning area. The 'road' to it is interesting but fine if you just take your time. The wildlife in the garden is plentiful, as are superb walks right from the door. The lodge itself is amazing, cosy, comfortable and warm with everything you could possibly need. The lemon cake waiting for us was delicious!! The pub at the bottom of the road is also great, we've been many times. We cannot wait to return.

The wilderness lodge is amazing.

The lodge is in a fantastic position for adventuring and is clean and tidy and very well equipped. I will be booking again at some point. The local pub the stiperstones Inn is excellent value for money plus the shop next to it is a must just for everything it sells

It was really hard to warm the hot tub, but we have wondered if it's due to the time of year.

Communication between us and the owner was amazing, and it was such a beautiful place to stay. Would be willing to stay there again - but maybe during a warmer season!

We loved this lodge!

It was clean, warm and there was so much thought put into the facilities around the place like the extra towels, the extra kitchen stuff you can use and candles and lights around the place. We only had one downside which was the hot tub issue as its so cold it took too long to heat up but other than that this was perfect and the host’s are really kind and communicative. Thanks for letting us stay x

Property was amazing - looks exactly the same as pictures, really clean too which was fab.

Lovely homemade for us cake upon arrival. Only downside was the cook wear and kitchen utensils. We found it really difficult to cook with the pots and pans available and the knives were quite poor. We did go to the pub 1 night for food which was great but we ate in the rest of the time. Note to future bookers - take all kitchen products required, there was no oil for cooking. Having had numerous self catering stays I found this odd as usually you find oil, sauces etc left by previous people. Needless to say there were plenty of trips to the local shop! The outside hot tub lights are broken and the door for the hot tub fire is also coming off it’s hinges - few cosmetic changes required but all in all a great stay. Thank you!

Had a wonderful experience at wilderness lodge.

Very traditional log cabin which made the holiday even more fabulous. The cake and fresh flowers are a really nice gesture. Oven easy to use, beds comfy, towels nice and soft, extra towels for hot tub. Hot tub easy , once got it going, just keep throwing logs at it. till it get hot. keep it going while your there..Didn't help having a very cold night the day before, its part of the experience. You are at the very end of the bridleway.where it start the walk to the Nature Reserve. Shop at the bottom of bridle way come road as everything, quite quirky and very friendly helpful staff. Stipperstones Inn very inviting and food lovely. I would have given full five stars but lights in hot tub don't work.. . Not sure if lights had worked whether it would have spoilt anything anyway. There is a light hung up to use. Will definitely be returning. with hot tub games and lights. Thank You June

Wow, is probably the best place to start this review.

From the moment we made contact about the key collection to the day we left I cannot rate the service and accommodation any higher. The property was spotless, with everything neat and tidy. Cake, flowers and milk for the arrival cuppa was just the welcome we love. Sometimes the photographs don't match the property, but in this case I believe them to understate it, and my only fear is that writing it up well will make too many people want to book in future making it difficult to rebook. As we love walking it was just brilliant for us, out the back door and straight up into the hills, just perfect. The pub ten minutes walk away which we did indulge a couple of times (great food and hospitality). A little shop next door to the pub that I would describe as a Aladdin's cave. Beds comfortable (tick), well equipped kitchen (tick), good WIFI coverage (tick) peaceful setting & very private (tick), easy parking (tick), great hot tub (tick), incredibly well thought out décor throughout (tick, tick, tick) the effort the owners have gone to to make it look great is just amazing, we were finding little details until the last day. Things to know Be patient with the track up to it, do not fear it keep along the track until the top, my low slung sports car made it no problems. All the locals are exceptionally friendly just be courteous and give way appropriately. Be patient warming up the hot tub, use the water jets to circulate the warm water it heats up quicker (don't be tight and buy a few extra logs from the little shop in the village) it took us 3 hours to heat first time then by lighting a the fire every now and again we kept the water hot all week. Remember you are on holiday and relax and dependant on you it can be very romantic ;). Would I recommend it, in a heartbeat.

) We spent most of our time walking, in the hot tub watching the birds, squirrels and a rabbit or just sat outside reading. Can recommend Zenna (Chinese) in Pontesbury and The Ganges (Bangladeshi) in Bishop's Castle for great food.

A wonderful lodge.

Perfect location for a relaxing break. The lodge was very well kept and had everything you could want for a comfortable stay. A fantastic place to come and get away from it all with walks from the doorstep an amazing holiday

Amazing lodge!

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our week away to celebrate 1 year together :) we forgot to write in the guest book but will definitely be visiting again! The only issue was we couldn’t get the hot tub to heat up.

If you like peace and quiet with just the birds singing this is the place.

A gem of a place with everything you need plenty of walks nearby. The Stiperstones Inn a must good food and beer highly recommended.

Lovely wooden lodge in a fantastic location for the hills and countryside, straight from the door.

Really comfortable, well equipped and peaceful. Only negatives for us were the mega soft mattresses to the single beds (intended for children rather than adults I think), the small shower cubicle and the rough track up to the lodge (luckily we had a 4x4). The hot tub was a great feature but constantly feeding the 'monster' with copious quantities of wood was a real bind. Should really be some warning about the track on the website when booking.

All I can say is WOW!

! This place and location well exceeded my expectations! It ticked all the boxes and if you are a person who likes beautiful country walks with stunning views added with some solitude and piece and quite with wildlife all around you then please please please book this place. With only half an hr drive to Shrewsbury market hall where you can buy amazing produce to cook some lovely meals in the cabin or a short walk down to the stipertsones inn (lovely land lord and land lady) . And next door is the local shop which is an aladins cave! Oh yeh..... hot tub under the stars!!!! WOW! Perfect, Perfect! If you like more beautiful walks and a stunning drive then go to long mynd. It’s like driving into a Swiss village through the hills from stiperstones. This log cabin is where you can do and see so much locally or just stay at the cabin and relax. 5 star self catering accommodation for me. Amazing!!!

It was just what we wanted for our honeymoon, idyllic location, beautifully designed wooden lodge, so many home comforts that you wouldn't expect!

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge between Christmas & New Year 2020.

the lodge was perfect! everything was available that we needed. To make the trip more amazing was it snowed, we snuggled by the log fire, relaxed in the hot tub and went sledging down the hills. we loved it that much we booked again whilst we were still there... we did not want to leave! we are forever grateful to have made amazing memories from such a negative year.

The property is located in a valley half way up a hill, you are surrounded by trees and mountains.

There is a small stream that runs through the garden and small wildlife is constantly seen. The property has a ski lodge feel and is nice and warm from the central heating and also the bonus of a log burner (you will need to bring a big supply if you are going to use this everyday). Kitchen has everything you would need and the tv and wifi all work well for the winter evenings. The master bedroom is comfortable and spacious but the single beds in the second bedroom could be more comfortable and of better quality. Bathroom is very good with plenty of hot water. If you like walking this place is ideal with all day walks outside of your front door with not a car insight. Shrewsbury is 25 minutes in a car away and there's other attractions within 30 minutes for half days out.

Absolutely stunning lodge, so cosy and such a nice place to stay after this years events!

The lodge had everything we needed, and more. Log fires were a lovely bonus during the freezing cold evenings. The pond attracted some friendly feathered wildlife that made the stay even more pleasant! Only downfall is the road up to the lodge which is not suitable for city cars. Other than that, it was a marvellous time, and I will definitely go back in the summer to try out that lovely big hot tub!!

Wilderness Lodge is better in real life than the great photos on the site.

It’s a wonderful place to relax & unwind. It had a rustic charm with all mod cons in really lovely elevated position in Stiperstones. Friendly pub at the bottom of the lane that serves really good homemade food, right next door to a well stocked village shop.

Beautifully decorated cabin with charm and unique character, private but not isolated with a warm and welcoming pub is an easy walk down a almost traffic free track.

Ideally placed for a day exploring the Shropshire hills, followed by a cosy night in round the log burner with dinner cooked in the exceptionally well equipped kitchen.

This is the first time I’ve used Sykes and am already searching for my next holiday with them.

They kept me informed as the date approached and everything went like clockwork. The Lodge was perfect as described. There are lovely walks starting at the doorstep and a relaxing hot tube on your return. The village pub is a nice stroll down the lane and the adjacent shop has everything you need, including a battery for car key fob! That’s another story. Would recommend Sykes and Wilderness Lodge. The Lodge was beautifully and immaculately presented with lots of attention to detail.

We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend the Lodge. The hot tub and log fire were especially welcome on such a wet and windy few days. So relaxing.

We paid over 400 pound for 2 nights but we couldn't use the hot tub which we was looking forward to, the reason why is where you put the logs to heat it up was full of water so we couldn't make the fire to heat the hot tub up.

Very dissatisfied about this but apart from that the cottage was really nice

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, we went with friends and had a thoroughly relaxing weekend.

Had a lovely walk up to the top of the hill, we'll worth it for the fabulous view's. Also went to the Inn at the end of the lane which was very friendly and serves great food at very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.

Everything you could possible need us there for you. locals were amazingly friendly!

the lodge is lovely and so relaxing a home from home feel but the hot tub is log fired and really hard to heat up when it’s cold outside so we didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub as the fire kept blowing out with the wind and the water just wouldn’t heat up so that was a bit disappointing considering that was one of the reasons we chose the wilderness lodge

The area is so quite all you hear are the birds. We went to relax so it was perfect for us. Will definitely be booking again next year

My fiancé and I decided on the wilderness lodge as our mini moon for a three night stay.

This was the perfect location and exactly what we needed. As soon as you enter the lodge the warm cosy atmosphere soothes the soul and the relaxation begins. The cabin is situated on a half tarmac road, this is not an issue just take it slow and you will be fine. It’s a perfect size for 2 adults and 2 children, situated in a great location just 10 minute walk to the local shop and pub. (as other reviews have stated this is the only shop you need and the pub is fantastic with really nice food and atmosphere), we didn’t stray elsewhere as we were that happy. A perfect location for some nice walks up to the devils chair and to the old mines. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend as a place to unwind and forget about the real world. Thank you for an amazing mini moon and we look forward to visiting again.

Absolutely beautiful cabin.

In the most stunning surroundings. Definitely recommend this holiday, we came with our kids for our honeymoon and it was the perfect week. Beautiful cabin as I've said very well equipped and so cosy with the fire. And the surrounding area is to die for. Perfect holiday.

This is a perfect place for peace, quiet and enjoying the surroundings.

There is plenty of bird life, brilliant walks and scenery and the lodge is very well equipped and comfortable. The only slight improvement we would make would be a larger shower but that didn’t detract from a wonderful holiday.

We loved our time at Wildnerness Lodge, but would not visit again.

The lodge itself is stunning and all the little touches inside really give it that special feel...but the whole lodge is covered in cobwebs, inside and out. I know it is in the middle of the woods but running a brush around would really make a difference. This was especially noticeable outside, where the decking, furniture and hot tub and surrounding area could all do with a bit of maintenance. I know the lodge is probably really busy but the owners should take a little time to touch up these areas, just sanding, revarnishing and cleaning the hot tub would work wonders. There are lights dotted around the outside of the cabin and where you can park the car, but none of these worked and as we arrived quite late and it was pitch black we really had difficulty finding the key and gaining access. My husband decided to have a look at the light right outside the door and found one of the batteries missing, just a small thing that can be so easily fixed. The road to the lodge is also really unsuitable for a small car, luckily we have a 4x4 but when my daughter visited in her little C1 we made her park at the end of the road. The road was also very uncomfortable to drive, so much so that by the end of the week I dreaded having to go anywhere in the car! I would also have appreciated more wood for the fire and some beach towels for the hot tub, but these were things that we had to go out and buy ourselves. I think people have been very generous with their positive feedback in the past. Unfortunately for the owners we had stayed at a much more superior cabin the previous year where all touches, such as towels, wood etc were fully taken care of and the outside was consistently maintained.

I can’t speak highly enough about the holiday or the cottage.

An amazing place which if you close your eyes you could be anywhere in the world.

The location was beautiful, very peaceful and relaxing.

The cabin had everything we needed. The homemade cake on arrival was absolutely delicious. We had fabulous warm weather. The hot tub got plenty of use, both as a hot tub and somewhere to cool down when not heated up. We even enjoyed sitting on the porch in the dark watching a storm come up the hill whilst at the same time looking at the stars in the clear sky further up the hill. Would definitely recommend the cabin.

The lodge is fabulous and very comfortable.

The location is great with tranquility, wildlife and proper darkness at night! Plenty of places of interest to visit relatively close and walks on your doorstep. We really enjoyed our holiday but feel the description needs to be amended to reflect the approach ‘road’. This is a single, winding lane which in parts feels narrow. Only half is surfaced. The reminder is a track and very bumpy. If you have a larger vehicle or one which has a low suspension, take great care. Also the nearby shop and pub are both real gems, especially the shop and an added bonus to have great local facilities nearby. For the walk down allow 15mins and due to the steep incline, 20mins at least, for the journey back.

Perfect weekend!

The only small ask is that there are more logs available upon arrival as the hot tub took a while to heat (it’s heated by logs, not electric) so they quickly got used up! But regardless, stunning lodge and lovely people in the surrounding area/pub!

The logs that are left for the jacuzzi are kept outside so were wet when we tried to use them.

Also down the shop they are stored outside in the elements. The cottage in general was amazing other than not being able to use the hot tub and the hot water not working on 2 seperate occasions. The area is peaceful and we found some trails to ride within an hour plus there is a go ape centre near by which is one of the best in the country.

Really enjoyed the peace and quite saw some squirrels and al sorts of birds it really was a home from home also liked the hot tub We were greeted with fresh flowers and a home made cake really thoughtful

The Wilderness Lodge is an amazing place.

It has absolutely everything for a nice and relaxing holiday, and it is very clean and comfortable. It is quiet and remote. It is next to a nice nature reserve, perfect for walking and climbing. The hot tub is wonderful. Our boys already want to go back to the Lodge for anoher week as soon as possible.

My husband and I with my sister and husband stayed in the lodge for a week, it was absolutely spectacular it's not often that a place looks better in person than the pictures on the net but this place exceeded all of our expectations in every way.

The lodge is in the middle of the nature reserve and the walks of the surrounding area are just on the doorstep with spetactular views, We had regular visitors rabbits,squirrels,so many different birds, The hot tub is a must to just sit and watch the world go by it was and is so peaceful. The lodge itself is well equipped with everything you need and the beautiful cake on arrival and the daffodils too. The shop at the bottom of the hill is great it is well stocked and fairly priced too, Pub is great too very friendly staff and fairly priced. Loads to do within the area wether it's walking or just driving there was always something to see. A credit to the owners on such a beautiful place they have really made it feel great We shall all be returning to this wonderful location and most idyllic place cant wait to come back and will certainly recommend it. Only downside was we had to come HOME

Its not oftern you go to a place and you find its better than the pictures it exceeded all our expectations the we rebooked within 2 days of being there.

It was truly breathtaking, quiet and peaceful place the hot tub was amazing and the lodge had perfect attention to detail. Will definitely be booking this lodge many many times.

A fantastic location - perfect weekend away - the lodge has everything you need to escape, no mobile connection added to the peaceful weekend - too cold for the hot tub though!

Wilderness lodge says it all.

It is remote and access road not suitable for everyone. It's exactly what we wanted but may not be for everyone. Sykes do advertise wifi but it's very intermittent. There is however a landline if you need to make an urgent call. It is idyllic and the log cabin is stunning. very peaceful and the locals are really friendly. The local shop sells everything you need and the stiperstones inn offers homely and reasonably priced food. Would recommend and definitely go again.

Beautiful picturesque setting (you could see a river running outside from the bedroom window) & the stars at night (absolutely no light pollution). Really friendly locals & loads of activities & places to visit nearby, highly recommended!

Just spent 7 chilling out days at the Wilderness lodge.

On our 2nd day there, it began to snow heavily which made the lodge with its wood burner, the perfect relaxing holiday for my wife and I. About a 10/15 minuet walk from the lodge is a real friendly pub which serves good food and at a reasonable price. Next to the pub is a small shop which sells everything thing you need. The outstanding thing for us was how friendly everyone was and nothing was too much trouble. A real community spirit. Did not want to come home. Highly recommended.

Wilderness lodge really has WOW features,set up high at the foot of the Stiperstones (a steep single track up to it ) on the coldest week of the year so far the lodge was so cosy and warm and with the snow it was like being up in the Swiss alps, unfortunately we never got to use the hot tub (due to very low temperatures) owners very helpful,Stiperstones inn at bottom of the track served lovely home cooked food

The lodge was bigger than expected.

A few oddities in terms of equipment: a smoothie maker, but no potato peeler; cotton buds, but no shaver socket. A few more lights would be useful, especially above the kitchen area. We struggled to lock/ unlock the door, it was v stiff. I think it might be worth mentioning in description that walk down to pub is quite steep and rough ( walking boots needed). Local pub was excellent. We enjoyed the week and enjoyed the local walking. Snailbeach mine was interesting.

The cottage was exceptional.

Everything from the style and decor to the cleanliness was amazing. I would highly recommend this cabin. It was the perfect setting and the hot tub at night watching the stars is a real treat too.

Attention to detail by the owners is great, everything you'd need great hot tub and log burner.

Very tranquil and a great place to just chill and relax, there's nothing not to like they have clearly thought of everything and we will definitely be returning.

Our first Christmas away and wilderness lodge provided us with more than our expectations.

It's a gem of a place. The hot tub under the star's so high up was incredible. Highly recommend. Truly beautiful.

I booked this lodge as a surprise for my boyfriends birthday, we had an amazing weekend together cut off from the rest of the world!

At night time we sat in the hot tub and the sky was so clear we could see so many stars it was amazing! Great location and we will definitely be returning again soon!
