Strawberry Stables

On arriving the bungalow looked ok although facias etc need cleaning.

Internally very disappointing for the money I paid and the photos in the brochure do not match the areas as they are now. Lots of scuffs and marks all over the walls, the settees are cracked and due to heavy wearing looked dirty, chips in the plates and not a matching set of 6 in any of the plates etc. Bedding needs changing, quilts old and very heavy, lightweight option should be available for the summer, quilt covers were very creased just showed a lack of care. Also seating outside but no parasol or any covered area so uncomfortable to sit out especially in the heatwave we had. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

We had a lovely week at Strawberry fields.

It is in a great location. The property was warm and comfortable. We found the beds to be very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Showers worked well and lots of hot water. Things that needed improving , some of the pots and pans weren't very clean and some probably need replacing especially the frying pan. The bedroom with the ensuite also needs a rethink. There is no mirror in the bedroom and space for clothes was really limited to one wardrobe. A shelf or some surface is needed to put toiletries on etc. The ensuite is very small, although the shower is fine the hand basin is only really suitable for washing your hands. Having been to many cottages it would have been nice to have a picnic bench or table outside for eating out in the fine weather as it has a lovely outlook. Thats just a personal choice! Having said all this we would return and we really enjoyed the week.

Strawberry Stables is a modern, stylish and very comfortable holiday home.

It is blissfully peaceful, yet easily accessible on a short stretch of country lane about 5 minutes from Congresbury, which has 2 pubs and local shops, etc. Several farm shops in the area, including Puxton Park, popular with families for its farm-themed play area. Good access to Bristol's Long Ashton Park & Ride into the city. Pretty countryside and numerous other attractions in the area. We highly recommend Strawberry Stables.

We stayed at strawberry stables for just two nights when visiting nearby family.

Everything was above and beyond expectations and we would have loved to spend more time there. Hopefully there will be a vacancy when we next visit Somerset.

Lovely place in peaceful surroundings, very clean, modern, comfortable beds, warm accommodation and a large living dining area to enjoy together.

Also appreciated the safe large area of off road parking around the place after driving through electric gate. Tiffany was very helpful. Thanks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Strawberry Stables.

It was clean, warm and very comfortable. It was in a quiet location and easy to get around the area. We visited Bristol (using Park and Ride), Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Glastonbury and Weston-Super-Mare.

Stayed here with family members.

Very peaceful place, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking space for 3-4 cars. Lovely place to chill out after exploring Bristol city centre. Only 20 minutes to Bristol Portway park and ride with free parking and inexpensive bus service into city centre.

Well equipped had most things needed.

The property was so nice. It was home from home. Had everything u needed, it was clean and tidy. We liked it that much, have booked it again for next year. Thank u to Will and Tiffany.

Fabulous property.

Perfect size with comfy sofa and electric reclining chairs. The beds were so comfy - initially I thought they were too hard but they weren’t and I slept so well - I want to buy one! Great rainfall showers and bath. Kitchen was well equipped. The owner popped by to check we were ok and helped us find somewhere to resolve an issue we had. Good location to travel in every direction - Bath, Avebury, Stonehenge, time on the beach at Weston etc. Loved watching the sheep and lambs in the field through the open bifold doors. Plenty of parking with electric gates. Would highly recommend.

This is the first time I have booked with sykes it won't be the last.

We have had a wonderful holiday the bungalow was fantastic we could not fault anything we need to contact the owner and they were here in less than 20 min The setting was lovely and the position was perfect to get around the area we could not have asked for anymore thank you.

We stayed at Strawberry Stables after a recommendation from a friend who stayed there.

They were right! It was ideal. The location was quiet with lots of wildlife and birds to see. Our hosts were friendly, they made sure we settled in ok. There were six of us staying 4 adults and 2 children. We visited lots of attractions in the area. Our grandchildren loved the sheep with their lambs that were in the field next to the property.

Everything you needed was there! Spacious and clean too. Loved the reclining sofas to chill on, something you don't normally have at a holiday home!

! - Beautiful cottage in a rural location. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, good wi-fi. Nice patio/garden. Everything you need for a relaxing break

The cottage was very modern and well presented.

The kitchen was well equipped and for once the saucepans were useable. The armchairs and settee were also comfortable which quite often they are not. However, we did find the cottage minimalistic to the point of being impractical. On entering the front door there was no internal doormat. There was nowhere to hang outdoor coats so we had to drape them over the dining chairs. In the bedroom with the on-suite there were no towel rails or space to leave your toothbrush or toiletries. The bedroom had no dressing table, drawers or mirror. My daughter who used this room ended up living out of her suitcase all week. There were no hooks on the back of the bedroom doors or the bathroom door so you could not hang your dressing gown up, even whilst using the shower. The towels were extremely thin. Thankfully there was a clothes airer which we kept up in the open space to put all the towels on to dry. The cottage although spacious did not feel very homely, perhaps a large rug near the armchairs would help

Lovely bungalow, very quiet area.

Weather was cold during our stay but once inside it was lovely and warm. Comfortable seating and beds.

We’ve had a lovely 4 night stay in Strawberry Stables.

The bungalow is clean, comfortable and bright, the beds are comfortable and we loved the electric recliners! You are not overlooked by anyone and surrounded by fields, so it is really quiet. I enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evenings as the sun set. Our daughter was especially glad to find horses in the field outside her bedroom! We had a small issue on the first day, contacted the owner who came down straight away and sorted it out for us. She was so lovely and friendly, it made us feel really welcome. Thank you for a relaxing and comfortable week.

Quiet and peaceful. You can hear the planes from Bristol Airport but they are not intrusive. I good place to access Somerset and beyond. The Stables is well equipped and has everything you need to enjoy your stay

Lovely cottage in a great area with plenty of places to visit.

The cottage was clean and very comfy and suited our young family perfectly. The only slight negative was that all the grounds were covered with CCTV, we felt we should of been made aware of this and what would happen with the images recorded before booking. We would definitely recommend and hope to stay again in the future.

The property was lovely, and spacious in a quiet location.

It is in a location that is near to most of the attractions we wanted to visit, which was nice to only have around half an hour drive or less to Bristol, Wookey Hole. Weston-super-Mare. The only thing we found slightly negative and that is down to personal preference was the beds. The mattresses were soft and made boing sound, when you moved or turned over, and you could feel the springs. As I said its personal preference. The weather was nice one day and we went to use the retractable washing line. It didn't work and wouldn't pull out.which would have been nice to use and a nice touch. So we used the clothes airer, but when we got back from our day out it had blown over. Scattering all the washing across the property. Could the owner fix or replace the washing line. Overall, we had a lovely time and would love to return sometime in the future.

The owners were very responsive when there was a slight problem with water.

Good location for visiting Somerset locations.

Nice cosy lodge, however we found as in a previous review that the mattresses on the beds need replacing. They are not very comfortable and this is the only property that we have stayed in where mattress protectors and pillow protectors are not used.

The cottage is in a great location, lovely and quiet!

For me though the mattresses need to be changed, so does the bed linen, they are not good quality and the towels were so old - it’s so important to get that bit as right as possible. Maybe add a cafetière to the kitchen and complimentary tea, coffee and milk? I feel the cost of our stay could have covered that. But it has great potential! We came in Feb so couldn’t use the patio area - I could see us using that for bbq etc as it was lovely! Hope the feedback is ok, we did enjoy our stay and would recommend the cottage to others! This cottage was so lovely - warm and clean when we arrived - it was in a good state of repair and we did not have any major problems and did not have to contact anyone during our visit - I would highly recommend this location as a place to visit bath - Weston super mare and Bristol.

We absolutely loved our 4 night stay at Strawberry Stables!

The property was just beautiful and very clean. The beds were all very comfortable and they had new mattresses. They were so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning!! The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and we particularly liked the modern bathroom, en suite and underfloor heating. It is evident that the owners have put their heart and soul into Strawberry Stables and they were so helpful. We can't wait to return in the spring!

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage with lots to do and see in the surrounding area the cottage more than met our expectations and we will definitely look to return again very soon.

If there's anything that could be improved maybe upgrade to the sofa and chairs which are maybe looking a little tired now ? But on the whole it's one of the best cottages we've stayed in

Strawberry stables is set in a beautiful area just outside Congresbury where there are some local shops and pubs.

The local chip shop is definitely worth a visit. The stables was great for our needs as we had my elderly parents with us, my mum could easily get about with her walking aid due to the layout. The stables was underfloor heated and was always cosy and warm. I do agree with previous comments on the need to replace the mattresses, and bedding has seen better days. Plenty of towels were provided, but they could also do with replacing. We have stayed in many cottages and a welcome pack of tea coffee and milk is usually provided, lucky we had brought our own , but could be a good idea for the owners.

On the positive side it was lovely and quiet, easy reach of main attractions and very well equipped.

On the Downside a decent side sink in en-suite would be good even if the the shower was removed to make room

A great place to stay.

Will (the owner) was very helpful when we had a minor issue (battery expired in the entrance gate fob).The place is spacious and was clean upon arrival. Good WiFi witrh decent speeds and we were able to stream Netflix,Prime without any issues. The place has underfloor heating (heat pump) and was comfortable in September.The showers had good pressure and worked well. The place is located about 100yds off a main road , so it was easy to get too, but still quiet.

The beds need to be upgraded mattresses too small for the beds no mattress covers or toppers.

The en-suite basin was so small the size of a size 5 shoe box, the seal on the shower leaked also toilet seat was loose the cushions for the outside seating were concealed under a bed and difficult to get out The front door was difficult to unlock and needed the help of owner to undo. bald patches on the leather chair cobwebs in the main bathroom The property is not over priced for the condition and amenities. kitchen need more cleaning material and a 2 slice toaster for 6 persons is not acceptable

Ensuite bedroom needs a proper double mattress .

.not 2 singles ..uncomfortable..only small wardrobe in thus room suggest chest of drawers would help..no instructions for cooker microwave washing machine or dishwasher..would be useful..shower very slippy mats would be useful.. Now positives lovely quiet location ..private ..lots to see and do nearby ..accommodation good size for our party of 6

Fantastic place to stay.

The property was exceptionally clean and very spacious. It had everything we needed and would definitely book again. It was lovely and quiet which is what we wanted. Highly recommend.

Nice property.

Pros: smart TVs in all bedrooms. Great kitchen. My lads loved the electric chair. Great to have the bifold doors. Nice reclining chairs outside. Cons: Mattresses need updating. 2 singles mattresses making double in en-suite. En-suite basin very small. We all used the main bathroom sink. Having hooks on the backs of door for towels/coat would be useful. Ceiling in living room need attention as they’re a couple of long cracks. Makes it look unloved :(. Maybe time to update one of the recliners, it’s been well used. Overall a nice property that is situated on a quiet road with horses in the back field. Easy access from M5 and plenty to do. Cheddar Gorge, SSGreat Britain (in clean air zone area, so check your vehicle), Mendip activity centre etc.

AN AMAZING PROPERTY IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION WITH EASY ACCESS TO SURROUNDING AREAS.

THE OWNER SHOULD BE PROUD OF HIMSELF HE HAS DONE A BRILLIANT JOB WITH THE PLACE, MET THE GENTLEMAN WHILST ON OUR WAY OUT FOR THE DAY WHERE HE ASKED IF ANYTHING WAS NEEDED?, ‘WE REPLIED JUST A COUPLE OF SUN LOUNGERS TO LIE ON AND ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL WEATHER’, WE RETURNED LATER THAT DAY TO FIND THE SUN LOUNGERS ON THE PATIO, THERE WAS NOTHING HE WOULD NOT HAVE DONE TO MAKE OUR STAY MEMORABLE, WHICH IT MOST CERTAINLY WAS. A TOTAL REST WAS THE IDEA BEHIND THE HOLIDAY WHICH CERTAINLY DID THE TRICK. WE LOOK FORWARD TO COMING BACK AGAIN. THANK YOU

Lovely property in a peaceful location, with lots of places of interest to visit close by.

The accommodation was spacious & comfortable & the bifold doors are a fantastic feature. Only niggles would be that the bathroom & shower room could do with some hooks on the back of the doors to hang towels. There was also a slight unpleasant odour in the shower room. However, we very much enjoyed our stay & would visit again.

Good location for coast and country. Good Access to motorways for return home. Owners quick to respond to queries and very welcoming.

Beautiful property in lovely location.

We did have a problem logging in to WFI which was soon sorted by the very pleasant owner. We had noticed birds flying in & out of a box on the fence & later realised it was a container for smokers cigarette butts. Have left a note on the fence to make smokers aware that there is a nest inside. Altogether a lovely holiday close to many tourist attractions. Janet

Absolutely beautiful property, would highly recommend and we would defiantly come back.

If I had to say anything negative { and it is trivial } the mattresses are a bit worn and ready for replacement, and maybe a bit more information on what can and cannot be recycled. Thankyou for a lovely stay !!

We enjoyed our short break at Strawberry Stables.

Good location to visit many of the attractions Somerset has to offer. We went to the coast, Wells and Glastonbury as well as Cheddar Gorge. Although the weather wasnt kind to us, as it was very cold and wintery,the property was lovely and warm and comfortable. NB regarding the directions to the property, it is about only 1/4mile on the right down the lane. Hope this helps.

Spacious and well appointed property.

Exactly as described, one of the best holiday properties we have stayed at. Will and his wife were lovely, called in to make sure everything was ok and sorted out a small problem with a connection to the tv for us.

We had a fantastic holiday in a beautiful and quiet area in a fantastic house with all the facilities you need and more, would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Strawberry Stables.

It was very clean and bright with the big windows. The house was very warm and the beds very comfy (we prefer them soft so suited us perfectly). It has everything you need and Tesco deliver to the door. It is in a very quiet location but close enough to lots of attractions and places to visit. We went to Glastonbury, Brean Down, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Clevedon, Cheddar Gorge and Wells. You can then relax in the lovely reclining chairs at the end of the day. We would highly recommend Strawberry Stables and hope to go back again sometime.

Excellent property lovely and peaceful and a superb location, having the livestock in the paddock next to the property really helps you relax and unwind from the stress of normal life.

Yes there are a few things that could be done to make the cottage a little better but overall a wonderful experience.

This was a lovely cottage with lots of room.

Well situated. We had hot weather and the house was hot, and due to location on a farm there were a lot of flies which can’t be helped and not a criticism of the cottage. However fans are supplied so that was excellent. Towels supplied but could have been a bit larger. Very comfy, especially the beds and very spacious. TV remote a bit iffy.

Strawberry Stables is in a lovely location.

The property had a lot of nice features but some items spoilt its rating. The mattresses on the beds need replacing and better quality bedding is needed. The towels were in short supply and poor quality. The flooring in the bathrooms was always covered in fluff from the towels. Adding some coat hooks would be very useful.

The key instructions that you sent us were wrong.

We decided to try the key safe code to open the gate and fortunately it did. There was a key fob for the gate but no instructions for its use were provided. In fact we were not sure what the key fob looked like. There was no instructions for the kitchen appliances, we never got the microwave to work. Again there were no instructions for the TV, etc. The reception was not great. Programmes kept breaking up. There was no sign of an outside aerial. There was only one bedside light for 3 bedrooms and only one bedroom had a mirror. There was a shortage of storage in the bedrooms. The cleanliness was not great, especially of some of the cooking equipment. The bed linen was not of great quality. The bath and shower were slippery when in use, safety mats should be provided. The instructions on what to do with the rubbish and recycling was non-existent. There was no visitors book to pass on any recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. It was very disconcerting to see 2 very large and long cracks running the length of the living room ceiling. Having said all that, it is in a wonderful location. Very quiet and peaceful with some lovely sunsets and lots of bird song. It could be made into a really top class property with attention to these details. It is shown as 5 ticks, currently we would not rate it as that.

Overall very nice.

Would have been good to have some coat hooks. We prefer firmer beds and thinner pillows but that is a personal choice.

Loved our week there, everything you need for a quiet relaxing break and perfect for a disabled person who has difficulty breathing and walking, children loved watching the rabbits in the field

Lovely stay that really suited our requirements.

Lovely private property located in a beautiful setting with plenty of walks. Close to Bristol, Weston, Cheddar, so lots to do in any direction. Nice spacious rooms. Great open plan family space. Pet free zone which was a bonus for us as 2 of our party are allergic to animal fur. Very friendly host. Thanks for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Overall Good.

The stay here at Strawberry Stables was perfect and needed for a quiet environment, great location with everything close by ( a car is a definite requirement ), equipped with that home feel, safe and private.

Had a great welcome by the owners .. who don’t don’t bother you at all unless you contact them and that was only for a change of towel supply.
