Pear Tree Lodge
Description
Langport 1.1 miles.
Pear Tree Lodge is a stunning, bespoke, treehouse-style property settled into the beautiful hamlet of Combe, near Langport, and is an ideal base for a couple, friends or a family searching for a unique base in Somerset.
Take a walk through the pretty gardens and find this elevated property, a fantastic base to captivate your imagination, offering well-presented studio accommodation with a unique feel, beginning with an opulent kitchen space offering a selection of amenities to cater to your culinary needs.
This space is also home to a dining table, ideal for hearty meals, and a plush sitting area resting beside a characterful woodburning stove.
Here there is a double bed for you to settle down for the night in and, accessible via a ladder into the eves, nestled beneath the wooden beams on a quirky mezzanine level, there is a twin (zip/link) room which can be set up as a super-king-size on request; both are serviced by a sleek shower room.
Situated in amongst the trees, with a backdrop of leaves and countryside, the decking is a simply dreamy spot to indulge in a glass of your favourite beverage, throwing open the patio doors to take in the last of the sunshine - perhaps even catching a glimpse of the local owls.
Before setting off for a day of exploring, you can find hearty breakfasts locally at The Kitchen at Bow Wharf, The Bridge or The Parrett Deli.
All of this and so much more with a stay at the incredible Pear Tree Lodge.

What guests are saying
We've just returned home from a fabulous 4 night stay at Pear Tree Lodge, the accommodation was just what we were looking for, a fantastic getaway, hideaway in a beautiful area.
Full marks to Alex and Neal for sharing Pear Tree Lodge for us all to enjoy. We're looking forward to re booking in the New Year. Brian and Sue
Thank you so much. It was such a pleasure to host your little getaway. I'm glad you enjoyed lodge and we look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.
Very cosy, quirky and quiet getaway in beautiful surroundings.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening listening to the owls, and visiting Somerset gems like Ham Wall bird reserve and Wells. Neal was a welcoming but unobtrusive host. We appreciated the chance to enjoy Pear Tree Lodge, and had a perfect short break.
What a beautiful little house!
So quiet between trees, decorated with lovely details, we fell in love with it. Especially sitting outside days and evenings, very relaxing. Everything you need is there, good shower, good kitchen and good bed, even books and games, although when sitting inside or watching tv a little table to put your glass or cup on it would be nice. Langport is a nice village to visit and do your shopping. Thank you Neil and Alex, we had a very pleasant stay!!
Lovely stay in a beautiful cabin set away from the road…so quiet & we really enjoyed listening to the sheep!
! Had everything we needed for our stay.
Thank you Tim, it was so lovely to meet you and your family. I'm glad you enjoyed the neighbours!
Beautiful lodge in a wonderful, peaceful location.
An abundance of birds and wildlife on the doorstep. Spent many happy hours on the verandah. Owners very friendly and helpful.
Loved this studio style Lodge in the owners back garden.
Self contained, well-equipped, comfortable, stylish, well-maintained and remarkably private. Parking, good facilities, great location and friendly hosts.
We had a lovely stay here.
The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean. Dotty our dog loved roaming in the garden The bed was very comfortable. It was a lovely quiet point surrounded by trees.
Needed a short break, (4 days), and Pear Tree Lodge fitted well.
All good, but heed the information about the distance from generous carpark area to the Lodge.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful garden.
Host was very friendly and approachable. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped Lots of great walking locally and lovely towns and villages to visit and explore
What a beautiful slice of paradise.
The pictures really don't do it justice. The garden path leads you through a stunning display of trees, flowers surrounded by the song of many birds. The views from the windows echo this. Rabbits running, circling Buzzards, cacophony of bird song. The finish and decoration inside are really incredible. Such amazing attention to detail. The fossil tiles in the shower area are so so beautiful. Thank you so much for being curators of this space and making it available for others. I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone wanting to reconnect with the beauty of nature around us.
Thank you so much for your beautiful words Aidan. We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are so lucky as we do have some beautiful and rare trees and the snowdrops and daffodils are spectacular at this time of year. If you feel the need to reconnect with nature again in the future, you are, of course, welcome any time. Alex
A lovely place to stay.
Thank you, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
A very nice cosy retreat, perfect size for family of 3 and a husky.
Nice supply of kitchen ware and bowls for the dog. Only downside, even though it was a retreat from the concrete jungle... the wifi was rather weak... to slow to load up work emails (not that i wanted to work)... and too weak to load bbc player etc... but ok enough to stream netflicks. The garden is not fully fenced off, and having a half obedient husky, my husky ran into the next field chasing the sheep's and annoying the farmer in his tractor. Not related to Pear Tree... Sykes Cottage... charges too much to change booking. Overall very very nice place and friendly welcome, thank you to Alex
Thank you so much for your very useful feedback. We will have a look at the fencing and see if we can find the hole. Regarding wifi, broadband is coming to Combe very soon! They have laid the cables, we are just waiting on a date to get connected. So fingers crossed, that'll be sorted shortly. I'm sorry it was slow while you were here but I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.
Had a lovely few days at this tucked away lodge with all the facilities you needed.
Especially the wood burner which kept us nice a toastie in the evenings. Would love to go back in the better weather.
Gorgeous cabin in a great setting.
Cosy and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Sadly the weather was dreadful but pear tree lodge with its lovely wood burning stove was the perfect place to batten down the hatches and relax.
Thanks Helen. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay despite the rain. At least it gave you the excuse to just switch off and relax.
The lodge was perfect for what we wanted, was in a convenient location to drive for days out, the parking was a little walk from the accomodation however didnt cause any issues but good to note.
Inside was very cosy, we made good use of the log burner and electric heater provided but never felt too cold. the kitchen facilities were also good however some pieces could be updated. The owners were very friendly and helpful, always around if we needed anything and gave us a nice tour as we arrived.
Lovely accommodation and very friendly and helpful hosts.
Thank you Toby, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. It was such a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family.
Very pleasant owners, on hand but not intrusive.
My week was marred by unusually heavy rain so I found the living area quite cramped and poorly lit. If weather had been better I would have spent much more time on the lovely deck area and probably not felt the same way! Very well appointed otherwise. Bed supremely comfortable. Log burner wouldnt stay alight for me, but I am more used to an open fire so that could be a me-problem. My dog loved the garden, woodland behind, and playing with Molly. Be aware the garden is not enclosed if the main gate is open down the bottom.
It was lovely to meet you and Freddie, Molly definitley loved playing with him. I'm sorry that you had a couple of issues during your stay. The advantage of the lodge being on our property is that we are always around to help with any issues - it's always worth asking as I could have lent you an extra lamp and shown you how to use the dampers on the log burner - it's all about air flow with stoves!
What a lovely little retreat, we had three nights of absolute relaxation, couldn't have asked for anything better 10/10,will visit again in the future
I'm so pleased you had a lovely relaxing time at Pear Tree Lodge and that the weather held for you! We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
A real little hidden gem of a place.
Great spot for dog walking. Lovely little market town closeby. Comfortable and clean with everything you need for a pleasant and chilled break. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay (so did the dog!).
Thank you Steve, it was lovely to have you. We really are lucky to have such beautiful river walks on our doorstep.
Lovely quaint cottage which was peaceful and relaxing.
Owners lovely but unobtrusive at the same time. Had a great time and would return if in the area
Thank you Raymond, I'm glad you had a relaxing time. You're most welcome if you're ever back in South Somerset.
We loved our stay at the beautiful Pear Tree Lodge.
Such a cosy, clean lodge in a lovely, peaceful garden. Alex and Neal were so helpful and friendly too. Our dog, Wonder loved playing with Molly too.
It was lovely to meet you all and Molly enjoyed meeting Wonder too!
Loveley location, Alex and Neal hosts were very helpful and friendly, not forgetting Molly the border collie !
Cabin in their extensive garden was excellent and peaceful, great covered outside deck to sit in the evening with a glass of wine. A good base to explore the local area.
I'm glad you enjoyed the deck as it was intended - to enjoy the garden and views with a glass of wine!
A wonderful, highly maintained, cosy home from home lodge.
Alex & Neal made us all feel incredibly welcome. The added touch of chocolate bites & milk upon arrival were truly welcoming. Fabulous grounds with an equally welcoming playful gentle dog in a beautiful part of glorious Somerset.
Thank you Su, it was such a pleasure to host you and your lovely boys - they were such a delight. And Molly absolutely loved the frisbee games with them!
Perfect.
Everything we needed and more. Best equipped place we have stayed for a long time, a decent sharp knife, sufficient toilet paper for the week, washing up liquid, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, salt & pepper - all the basics that are needed were there, no need to take them from home. Whilst it was scorching hot, the veranda is wonderfully shaded with a constant breeze, a lovely place to sit and look out on the garden while Molly (the owners dog) played frisbee and Peggy-Sue (our dog) wandered happily. WE WILL BE BACK .
I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We've tried to think of everything you may need! We look forward to welcoming you back
Another fabulous week at this gorgeous holiday home.
Had everything needed for a relaxing week. Hosts are communicative, helpful but not intrusive. We will be back!
Thank you Sandra. It was so lovely to see you and your husband again and to meet Daisy - she is such a cutie! We hope to welcome you back again soon! Many thanks, Alex
Enjoyed my stay very much.
Would stay again.2 things lacking: I would have eaten outside if there had been a table. Some sort of side table indoors would have been useful. Otherwise, a good choice for me.
Hi Robert, thank you for your feedback, it's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. As space on the deck is limited with the existing outside furniture, we are very happy for guests to use the kitchen table out on the deck for alfresco dining. It's always worth mentioning things like this during your stay as we may be able to provide what you need to make your stay more comfortable. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Alex
We had the most amazing stay at peartree lodge.
A truly magical place to relax and enjoy nature surrounded by beautiful grounds and amazing birdsong. The lodge is so well equipped and very cozy with a lovely veranda to chill out on mornings and evenings. Alex and Neil are great hosts and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. Their lovely dog molly is gorgeous and are pooch enjoyed the play times together very much. It is so well situated to explore Somerset but lovely to come back to like a home from home. Thank you Alex Neil and Molly for letting us share a slice of your paradise xx we will definitely be back kindest regards shaz Mike and becks xxxx
Pear Tree Lodge is a beautiful setting, quiet and tranquil.
The proprietors are warm and friendly, and provide respectful privacy. My daughter (who struggles with Autism) needed a specific environment in which to write her new novel, and was looking for a quiet 'cabin' in the woods; Pear Tree Lodge suited very well. Thank you.
Pear Tree Lodge is wonderful for 2 adults and children over the age of 5 or younger if you have cots.
Good cooking facilities and a secluded area in a woodland setting which is only 50 yards from the main house. I intend to book again which says it all.
Exactly what we were looking for.
A fantastic base for a stay in Somerset. The owners were very welcoming, making us feel very at home. The property is cosy yet spacious, and we were only sorry that the weather was too good that we didn't get a chance to use the huge log-burner. It's also a very short drive from the lovely Somerton (which we had never visited before) where there are some excellent options for food and drink.
We had a fantastic time and our hosts Alex and Neil were tremendously welcoming and helpful.
I would recommend to anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. We will definitely be back.
Thank you Grant, it was such a delight to meet you all...and to pick Sarah's brains was a double bonus! We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Delightful, quirky holiday home.
Has everything you need. Owners even supply shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Set in a lovely, woodland garden, ideal for dog to explore. Sit outside, chill and listen for woodpeckers etc Footpath across the road takes you across fields to the river Parrett for a riverside stroll. And finally, the homemade millionaires shortbread treat was delicious.
Thanks Jacqui, I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend and managed to hear the woodpeckers!
Enjoyed our stay everything that we needed was there including toiletries, tea, coffee, milk and some very nice millionaire short bread.
Thanks Carolyn, I'm so glad you enjoyed to complimentary toiletries and my shortbread :)

It was a really good stay, clean, warm & beautiful surroundings.
What can we say…this beautiful lodge is our home from home!
We have stayed a number of times now and intend to keep coming back. A perfect spot to rejuvenate and refresh. The lodge is so comfortable and the garden and surrounds are idyllic. Thank you to lovely Alex and Neal who work so hard to make sure everything is perfect!
As a holiday rental owner ourselves , we love going undercover at least twice a year to see what’s on offer.

Location stunning , through the owners garden surrounded by woods It was just pure peace and quiet and the dog loved it . Thank you Alex and Neal we will be recommending
Pear Tree Lodge was lovely.
Spotlessly clean and contained everything you could possibly need. Communication and check in was excellent. The owners are so helpful and friendly. We will definitely return and recommend to friends.
We had a great stay at Pear Tree Lodge, the space was great and had everything we needed.
Alex was lovely, very helpful and our dog loved playing with Molly! The Lodge is in a great location with lots to do locally, we would love to stay again.
We had a lovely stay at Pear Tree Lodge with our two boys and dog.
The accommodation is well presented, comfortable and suitable for a week exploring Somerset with down time at the Lodge. Alex and Neal were very welcoming hosts (providing the basics needed for tea and coffee and yummy home made millionaires shortbread!). We were given ideas for places to visit and dog walks which was helpful - plus Apollo and boys enjoyed visits from Molly!!
The best holiday cottage ever!
Everything was so well set up! We were feeling as being in the forest and spent all the time on the veranda. The owners have a cute dog with whom my son played every morning. Really recommend this place!
Langport is lovely with canal walks and within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, and the Taunton to Bridgewater canal.
The lodge is great and has everything you need for a comfortable stay, would highly recommend.
The owners were lovely, and the grounds are fantastic.
Lovely area to go for walks and great river in town if you are into paddle boarding/kayaking, etc. The cottage was perfect for us (a couple and a dog), super cosy and included everything we needed for a weekend!
We had a fab break at Pear Tree Lodge, so lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Lovely place to relax and recharge. The information folder was very helpful and well put together with some great recommendations. Lodge was super comfy, beautifully clean and the host, Alex, was charming, very friendly and very approachable, Molly was adorable. Very happy to recommend Pear Tree Lodge, thank you for a lovely break.

We loved the stay in the wonderful Pear Tree Lodge.
In the morning the view in your garden with all the trees, flowers and birds. The lodge is comfortable with all inside what you need to cook and to relax. It is made with love. If we come again to somerset, we would come to you! many greetings from Bernadette and Bärbel
I'm so pleased you and Barbel enjoyed your stay in our corner of Somerset and well done on tackling driving on the left!
We really enjoyed our break at pear tree lodge and so did our dog .
We will definitely book again next year and recommend this stay to our friends and family. Thank you
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay despite the rain! Molly definitely enjoyed playing with Piper. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.
We had a lovely peaceful break at this gorgeous property and can't wait to visit again.
The porch area provides shelter enough to sit out side in almost any weather and we made the most of it. The cottage itself if nestled among a 40 years old Arboretum which is a treat in itself. Sipping a morning cuppa or afternoon tipple whilst listening to the symphony of birdsong coming from the surrounding trees was just sublime. Friendly and attentive hosts was the icing on the cake of this delightful place.
Thank you Carol, we do feel so lucky to have inherited so many beautiful and rare trees. And, of course, with the trees comes wonderful birds - I hope you got to hear the cuckoo and the woodpeckers! We're looking forward to welcoming you back soon! Alex
Pear Tree cottage is set in the garden of Alex and Neal's property.
It met all our expectations being well furnished and convenient to the local amenities. The millionaires shortbread left for us was very taste and a nice touch. The garden was lovely to look out onto from the cottage and made you feel away from it all. Alex and Neal were friendly and their border collie was adorable. I definitely recommend this cottage.
Thank you Gay, it was so lovely to meet you and your husband. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and meeting Molly too! Alex
This is our second visit to Pear Tree Lodge and it was wonderful all over again.
Nestled in nature you can sit on the deck and take it all in. There’s everything you need and Alex’s millionaire’s shortbread is to die for. Alex and Neal are wonderful hosts. The kids love the mezzanine where they sleep. We love Pear Tree Lodge, we hope to be back soon.
Great place, they’ve thought of every little detail from kitchen utensils to games and more !
Very comfortable beds and sofa. We saw lots of wildlife, in the garden, and it is near some wildlife reserves where we saw herons nesting. Would definitely come back!!
Thank you Saffy, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It was lovely to meet you and your Mum and hope you will return soon.
Lovely cabin and setting.

Thank you Laura, it was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely girls. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, it is really cosy in there! We would love to welcome you back any time.
My partner and I had such a wonderful time here, everything about this place is beautiful, including the garden it’s set in.
It has everything we could have wished for and was very comfortable and cosy, so much so that we would happily live in an exact copy. The owners (and dog) were very friendly and welcoming, thank you so much for our amazing experience at your lodge.
