Little Barn

We found Little Barn to be a Little Gem.

It was scrupulously clean, and generously kitted out with everything that you would need. The bed was comfortable, and the shower room generous in size. The lounge/kitchen area was light and comfortable, and looked over the open views. The setting is idyllic, giving you views across the fields to the hills. In the evening we enjoyed sitting on the pretty patio to the front, watching the swifts darting across the fields and garden. The property was well situated for visiting many local attractions, and we particularly enjoyed our day in Sherborne, and a further day's visit to the Castle and wonderful garden centre. Our hosts were friendly, and attentive to our needs. We were only sorry that we could only stay for 3 nights.

Little Barn, Cucklington.

We arrived at the Little Barn mid afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience that greeted us. First impressions were very good and on entering the accommodation we were not disappointed. Everything was neatly laid out, from the lounge/kitchen, to the bedroom and the shower ensuite. We were very happy at the end of our stay and we will definitely rebook sometime in the future. The location of this accommodation is perfect for visiting the Somerset area and the many National Trust properties.

A beautiful cottage in peaceful countryside.

Our hosts were very welcoming. Fresh flowers, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, and milk there for us. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend this cottage, it's location and the warm welcome to everyone.

We had a very enjoyable holiday, weather could have been better.

Karen was most helpful and I even managed to cope with her dog Puzzle. The property was very quiet and peaceful, the lanes can be challenging being single track.

Very quiet location, perfect for a restful holiday.

The cottage and the grounds were faultless and spotless, all so well kept and neatly presented.

Karen and Campbell were on hand if we needed but not intrusive in any way and Puzzle the dog was a joy to see each morning. We were welcomed by Karen and there was milk, tea, coffee and fresh fruit available as a starter pack along with a vase of flowers hand picked from their own garden. Would recommend to anybody as a lovely peaceful holiday, very therapeutic. Thank you

Little Barn was a wonderful little cottage.

Set in a very beautiful and peaceful location. Ideal place to unwind and relax. We both enjoyed our stay. Karen was a good host and welcomed us with friendly and helpful greeting. Would recommend to anyone to stay there.

Little Barn was very comfortable and warm; it was well appointed and had everything I needed.

It was in a great location with lovely views and a beautiful village to walk up to and close by a number of National Trust properties to visit. I very much enjoyed my stay and would definitely return again.

Made to feel welcome by the owner and puzzle the dog. The milk, tea, coffee and fruit we a nice surprise. Ideally situated for visiting National Trust places and Hayes motor museum.

This is a beautiful cottage with everything you need for a home from home comfort.

Lots of National Trust properties and seaside not too far. I would have liked a pub or restaurant within walking distance, but that’s my only gripe. It’s in a lovely setting and very relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Little Barn was lovely everything you could possibly wish for a comfortable bed a lovely clean kitchen and a cosy area for relaxing The owners are very friendly and helpful making your stay a very pleasant time.

This was the best coattage that we have stayed in and our holiday was cut short by the illness of a relative.

The only problem for us was the Friday to Friday let as we do not like travelling on days when commercial vehicles use the roads and prefer Saturday to Saturday.

Chair and sofa a bit worn and lacking in body. Excellent heating. A very good space for a couple.

After still getting lost on the way there despite the new directions we arrived at Little Barn.

Karen and Campbell were welcoming and showed us around the place. Little Barn had all of the facilities and comforts that we have come to expect from Sykes cottages and extra touches like fruit and flowers and a milk to start off our holiday. The setting was lovely with a pond just outside the door where the swallows swooped down and then headed back to their nest in the stables. Each time we came "home" the dogs came to greet us with enthusiasm. From Little Barn we visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Wells cathedral, Wilton and Stonehenge.

Very quiet location and within easy driving distance of numerous places of interest.

Our hosts, Karen and Campbell, were very friendly and welcoming (as were their two dogs) - they gave freely of their local knowledge of eating-places and alternative directions to places. Would recommend this location.

A lovely holiday cottage with everything you need set among fields and views over beautiful countryside.

Owners were particularly friendly and helpful and the local community too. It took a while to get used to the narrow lanes and routes to Wincanton and Gillingham but there was plenty of help from local houses if you took a wrong turn. Strongly recommended and we hope to return.

An ideal location for us to enjoy visiting the surrounding towns and Somerset countryside.

The photos don’t do it justice . Lovely quiet setting with lovely views to the front . My only criticism is that the directions to find the cottage were inaccurate ,Karen the host ,had to come and find us when we got lost ( we don’t use a sat nav ) the lanes mentioned don’t have any signs ! And instructions to leave A303 at wincanton are wrong,you need to leave where it sayes wincanton races . After a long journey this all wasted 30 minutes .

Michael and myself had a wonderful time, a nice peaceful place away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life .

we had a problem with the shower and it was replaced the next day ,excellent service. We will definitely be returning. It has everything and more for your break. Thank you .

This is a wonderful, comfortable and cosy retreat.

The position is very peaceful but easy access to loads of places. The owners (and there lovely dogs) are friendly and helpful and welcoming. lovely gardens too.

Friendly hosts, for whom nothing was too much trouble to ensure our comfort. Any problems resolved quickly and efficiently. Would highly recommend.

What a little gem.

The owners live on site and could not be more helpful. In these strange times with Covid social distancing and cleanliness are very important to everyone. We couldn’t fault the precautions that had been taken. This part of South Somerset had a lot of places to explore. We had a lovely relaxing break
