Just the perfect complete getaway No electricity, can pick up 4G and 5G WiFi No road or street noise, an occasional car or tractor Outdoor shower (hot water) basic but beautifully set out, cute outdoor kitchen area, and compost toilet Going back to basics.
The hut, is lovely a big comfortable bed, dresser with all the plates, cutlery and glasses ..lighters, books and menus and binoculars. Charlotte met us on site and gave us a show round. We had goats across from us, who were quite friendly. Lots of birds including a woodpecker varied animals in surrounding fields, cows, sheep, horses. We relaxed that much stayed Friday evening Saturday and depart on the Sunday...we feel as relaxed as if stayed a longer time. We used the firepit and could have used the BBQ but decided to take a drive out to nearby villages for some takeaway. It was lovely Thanks to Charlotte for the welcome and the facilities provided xx
We had a wonderful weekend at Harri's Hut, starting with a warm welcome from Charlotte and Iain who were both most accommodating of our changed arrival plans.
The hut itself was spotless, well equipped, and beautifully situated in the corner of a field with goats and horses as neighbours and a wonderful view across to the hills. The facilities annexe served its purpose very well, with special mention of the hot, and therefore very welcome, shower. The large double bed was most comfortable. A real rural retreat in an area of narrow lanes, but only a short drive to Bishops Lydeard and its Co-op. Highly recommended.
I booked this hut very last minute for a weekend away.
(So last minute, in fact, that someone from Sykes had to call the host and then call me to arrange.) It was my first time using Sykes Cottages, and I was really impressed by this customer service. The hut was wonderful, and the surrounding area was beautiful. I met Charlotte and her pups on arrival, and they had a good run around with my dog while we chatted. I really enjoyed meeting her, and you can tell she cares about making your stay comfortable. She even left dog beds for my pup! Outside there was a lovely area with a shower with hot water, a little cooking area with anything you might need, and the cleanest compostable toilet I've ever seen. Everything is set up beautifully. Inside, there is a small wood stove which quickly heats up the interior and a comfy bed. Plenty of beautiful places to walk within a short drive, and an easy drive to Taunton if you need anything. The pub in the village was unfortunately closed while I was there, but I had several great beers from Quantock Brewery just 5 minutes down the road. Thanks again to Charlotte for having us, and I hope to see you again!
