Accommodation well presented and clean along with all equipment available for the visit.

Very spacious although WiFi was poor.

Just had 6 nights at this amazing little cabin.

Host was very welcoming. Location is quite, peaceful and very relaxing.. The cabin had every thing need for our stay , it’s the little things that matter such as good cooking pots and pans. We stay at a fair few self catering properties and just having simple things like a decant frying pan and sauce pans that you are not scraping clean after cooking is a god send. H there is no Wi-Fi in the cabin but it’s actually nice to be away from screens for a few days . We will definitely be rebooking and even going to look into the slightly larger cabin on site …

The lakeside cabin is set in peaceful surroundings of the country side over looking a lake .

it is clean and comfortable and as all your basic needs.had lovely week away.

A delightful and cosy retreat.

The location overlooking the lake is beautiful and very peaceful. We spent hours just sitting on the porch and enjoying the quiet with birdsong and fish jumping. The cabin is fully equipped with a very comfortable bed, a decent bathroom and a well thought out kitchen area. The owners are very friendly but not intrusive.

Lovely place to stay,clean and comfortable, everything you need in the cabin,if your looking for somewhere that is peaceful and relaxing this is the place,you do have to drive out if you want a quiet pub and to visit sites but it suited us perfectly cause you come back to absolute peace just watching the fish on the lake and any wild life about,lovely stay was sad to leave .

It was just as advertised and we had a lovely quiet break which is just what we needed.

Unfortunately we didn't find any instructions for using the fridge/freezer, the hot water or the cabin heating system. I found the bed very uncomfortable. Saying that, the place was clean and well stocked with cleaning products and the necessities to keep the place tidy. If you're not used to travelling country roads and lanes you may have issues with this too.

Cabin is in a beautiful spot !

We were not expecting the cabin to be 5 star ! But there are basic needs that have to be expected. The overall cleanliness was exceptable apart from the yellow stain on the toilet seat ! But the worst thing about this place is bed ! Not fit for purpose. The last thing you want while on holiday is not being able to sleep and to get up in the morning feeling like you’ve been assaulted ! Not to mention the filthy pillows when you take off the pillow cases. These problems really do let this beautiful place down.

We had a really lovely stay - great location and the cabin was so nice.

However, considering the price and that the cabin is far from shops, pubs etc we would expect some more basics to be in the cabin. I.e. soap for the bathroom, and oil, salt, pepper and tea/coffee in the kitchen. Also, all the windows were left open with the lights on when we arrived, so the cabin was absolutely full of bugs, which wasn't a great first impression. Some other reccomendstions would be to provide a what3words reference for the entrance to the driveway to help with directions and to give a warning in your listing about the trackway down to the cabin - our truck was fine but you might have had some trouble if you had a low car!

It's clean, comfortable and so peaceful. To sit in the cabin looking out over the lake and listen to the birdsong is bliss! We'll definitely book again!

Really enjoyed our stay.

Enjoyed the quiet peaceful surroundings wildlife and trout fishing on the doorstep. The host was very friendly and polite and took time to chat while on his everyday busy schedule. Up for returning in the near future which will be our third stay. And can fully recommend to anyone wanting a quiet couple of days away in lovely area with plenty of places to visit a short car journey away. Mike Williams.

There was no mention of the appalling roads to access the property, no information in the property, no phone signal, no WiFi, accomadation overall very tired & grubby as were the pots & pans & cooker.

When we stripped the bed prior to leaving we found heavily stained pillows, a very inaccurate description on website & no response to my email sent to Sykes, will not be using this company in future!

Although the cabin contained most of what we required it would benefit from a new more comfortable mattress and some more comfortable armchairs to sit and watch television.

The setting surrounding the cabin was lovely.

The lakeside cabin was set in a beautiful scenic quiet location it was peaceful and we met 3 very nice fishermen who were chatting to us and gave us tips of where to eat and go in and around the location.

Owners were helpful and friendly. The lakeside cabin lodge was clean and cosy and all amenities were provided for, as the toaster did our crumpets brilliantly, better then our toaster back home. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was ample storage available for clothes etc. It was spacious for a cabin. Shower was fantastic and hot. We would maybe have liked some cushions to use on the dining chairs for more comfort. Myself and my husband Rob will definitely be back here to stay very soon. Would highly recommend it. Also there are plenty of walking routes that you can do.

Very peaceful, tranquil and cozy cabin. If one is looking for a countryside escape, this is the one. Friendly and approachable host.

We really loved the nature around,a good place to relax and to have some silence .

The cottage was ok but unfortunately for us the cleanliness was very superficially this time (despite the view ratings).Our bed linen was full of dog hairs( In a place you are not allowed with pets)so it was very surprising and not in a pleasant way! We had to take them out and give them a good shake !

Looking at the cabin and its surroundings are lovely and exactly what we wanted, to escape from city life.

The inside not so great. Was expecting it to be really cosy but there isn’t a sofa it’s two chairs that aren’t that comfy but the whole downer of our weekend was the bed. I like a firm mattress but that one is ridiculous. I didn’t know they sold mattresses so hard. Two nights were spent sitting in the armchair with a dining room chair for our legs to stretch out. If the bed and chairs were sorted it would of been a lovely weekend all round

What a fantastic few days we had, beautiful cabin by the lake, so peaceful and tranquil.

The hosts were brilliant so helpful and kind. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Absolutely disgusting if you wish to stay in a dirty mouldy cabin this one is for you.

Not to mention the used dirty stained smelly bedding and towels. And if smells are your thing then the cabin itself smells foisty. Also there is no bathroom curtain on the window so if you care to risk the shower or toilet do so. We lasted 20 mins if that In the cabin and went elsewhere. Not to mention the owner was rude on our arrival asking why we were late at 3.30pm after an 8 hour drive. Avoid at all cost not as advertised.

A wonderful gem in an idyllic setting.

I caught my very first fish (Trout) on a very rainy day, a stone throw from the cabin’s front door. The cabin was warm, snug and well equipped. We really appreciated the list of items to bring to ensure a comfortable stay. We would definitely return. Thank you for being a great host.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in what is a very tranquil and relaxing setting.

Breakfasts and evenings spent overlooking the lake, watching for the abundant wildlife were an excellent start and end to our days out. No light or noise pollution ensured a good nights sleep. Would stay again and recommended without hesitation.

Excellent place to stay for a total chill out, absolute utopia if you like fishing.

Good base if you wanted to go further afield and explore Devon Would definitely go back again.

Whilst for myself.

The fishing was most enjoyable it has to be said that maybe there could be a few improvements with regards the approach to the cabin. With health and safety in mind, the small bridge has inadequate handrail to both sides and in wet conditions the wooden planks are rather slippery , not much lighting here in the dark. The steps on the cabin also can be slippery when wet. Also a suitable handrail is missing Maybe by tacking chicken wire to the treads would solve the slippery steps. I would have appreciated some sort of interaction/conversation with the owner . Wasn’t welcomed on arrival not even goodbye on us leaving

Had the most amazing holiday, beautiful surroundings and so peaceful, the cabin was just perfect, would highly recommend

We enjoyed our cabin ok, A handrail to the front door for us oldies would be nice, and a four slice toaster!

If you want to recharge your batteries this quiet rural well appointed cabin is the place to stay, it is most relaxing with it's lovely situation.

Tranquil setting, enjoyed the week without the distractions of normal busy life.

We absolutely loved the little lodge by lake and the location was perfect and very peaceful, we loved listening to the wildlife particularly at night when the owls were active.

We had a great stay here for the last week.

Really great little location & photos really don’t do it justice. We was pleased with the room sizes, great shower and always happy if we have heating in the cabins! Owners was really helpful on our first morning, recommending places to visit around Devon but other than that, we didn’t not see them. Location is just great. We loved sitting outside in the evening listening to all the birds. Not great phone signal but we did manage to get some in the cabin - quite slow though. TV was a nice feature. Really helpful with loads of leaflets to help plan our trip. Overall great stay. Thank you!

This is a good place to stay.

Note that what’s in the tin is correct information given. This is a nice place to stay if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of every day live. Mobile phone connection is very low so being here is great for you if you like this kind of life. This place is very quiet and peaceful. About 10/15 mins from the local town. Keepers cottage is very nice and food we had was very very nice and staff very nice and polite.

A more idyllic, relaxing and fabulous 'get-away-from-it-all' cabin would be hard to find.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two weeks resetting and recharging my batteries. Rob (the owner) is a genuinely great host. If I needed anything he was more than happy to help, but also respected my privacy at all times. The location is perfect with wildlife, walks and woods on your doorstep. If you want a break the hustle and bustle of city life the Lakeside Cabin is the perfect place. I will be returning.

My wife and I are not into fishing but even so the lake was a great view from the front windows.

The lakeside cabin has all the basics for your needs. We stayed in November and found the cabin very warm and cosy. Plenty of good walking close by, a very peaceful relaxing break.

A great place to relax, fish (or not fish), read a book and drink wine with a lake view.

Perfect for those hoping to get off-the-grid for a short while. Just what the doctored ordered! Highly recommended.

This cabin is in an excellent position right by the lake.

The road to the site is a typical Devon road, but not a problem if you take care.

Great place to get away from the hussle and bussle of life.

Friendly owner willing to help. Very tranquil exactly as descriped ont he web site. What could be better than watching the trout jump/ opportunity to fish/ reading a book with limited hassle of the emails and messages disturbing the quietness. Great pub at Broadhembury new owners very friendly, nice food and spacious including garden.

Owners was welcoming and helpful.Cabin was well equipped with everything you need , bed a tad hard for us . We required a well earned peaceful last minute break away and Lakeside was perfect for this . Will highly recommend and here’s hoping we can pop back and stay again . Not clean at all, starting with kitchen, cooking oil was left all over on cooker, frying pan was greasy, kitchen tap needs to be replaced, very hard to open and close, so many times hot water burnt us.

Sofas: might as well just sit on the floor. When sit in the sofa, you go down to the floor anyway. Bedroom: mattress should have been changed long ago, not a single good night sleep. Dust and dirt gathered in all corners, like never been broomed or mopped. Wash room sink is so small that, it hard to wash one hand in it and there's no tap in shower area. If you just want wash you face, you still have to take clothes off to get into shower. Cabin is in a good location

We loved our stay at the Lakeside Cabin.

The owner Rob and his son made us very welcome.The tackle shop onsite was very reasonably priced with a very good range of products .The trout were beautiful, great fighters and in very good condition, all credit to Rob's management. The grounds are gorgeous, peaceful with plenty of wildlife to see, deer, kingfishers, sparrow hawks, buzzards etc.The cabin was simple, clean , cosy and warm, good water pressure and hot water on demand (it might be time to upgrade the mattress as the bed was pretty hard).Limited mobile phone reception but possible in the cabin doorway and grounds. Easy drive to the coast (Seaton tram ride and Beer worth a visit )and well worth joining The National Trust pre trip for other local attractions. Overall, we had a great time, Rob was always on hand if required providing expert fishing advice and top tips for the local area. We look forward to returning in the near future. Thankyou for a great stay !

The chalet was in a beautiful setting surrounded by ponds and greenery very quiet and peaceful just what we needed Ponds were full of fish and my husband enjoyed the fishing the owners were helpful and informative of local attractions and places to eat locally thank you

Hollies trout lakes is a superb place if you wish to relax and just watch the world go by.

Friendly and welcoming owners are always around to help, lend advice on fishing or just a friendly chat. Loved it

Fantastic cabin, beautiful location and warm and cosy.

It was a lovely holiday and felt very relaxed. The cabin was clean but there were a few little issues that stopped it being a 10/10. The water pressure was non existent so it was difficult to do the washing up or wash in the sink. The shower also went hot and cold and was a bit of a trickle so hard to wash. The mattress was also very hard. The living room was very comfortable and sell decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. Overall, lovely place! Would recommend. Thanks! Kat

An absolute haven for rest and relaxation.

Rob the host was great and a big thanks to him and Chris for assisting with a fishing lesson. Did not want to leave . Thankyou .

My son and I stayed in this beautiful cabin for a week and were both sad to leave.

The cabin was happy and comfortable and contained everything we needed. The owner and his son were friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Rob taught myself and my five-year-old to fish and had unending patience to fix things when we got it wrong and genuine joy when we got it right and landed fish. I would recommend this cabin and holiday to everyone and intend to return next year.

Rob who owns the property was always good for a chat & gave great local knowledge.

He will readily sell fresh & frozen smoked trout at a great price, He maintained the property to a high standard. The ONLY downside was there was no wall mirror which my wife would liked personally its absence did not bother me. Had a fantastic, restful & peaceful time, if you possess a fly rod & tackle take it if not you can hire equipment from Rob.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and will be back. The cabin was everything we expected and more. Spotlessly clean and cosy. The owners where friendly and generous with their time and fishing equipment.

Really beautiful location, and the owners were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble, really relaxing, the Cabin was amazing, really comfortable and far exceeded our expectations, really clean and had all mod cons, my husband loved the fishing, and meeting really friendly locals was a bonus as well, highly recommend if you want a hassle free, chilled time away, we will deffinately be back

We were happy with the setting and quiet nature of the cabin and we knew it wasn't the Ritz or anything, however.

We felt the owner could have done better:- 1) The bed mattress was knackered and uncomfortable 2) There was no spare bedding to allow for people's sleeping preferences 3) The were no local maps, which would have helped us navigate the maze of local minor roads 4) The supplied tourist info was nearly all out of date 5) There were no instructions for the oven 6) The table and table mats were sticky

Absolutely Gorgeous location for a fisherman.

Great fishing too, which isn't always the case, well stocked, good size. And when not fishing, simply a great place to chill out and relax. Rob was a brilliant host, exceedingly helpful. Will be back!

I stayed at the cabin for 5 nights in June 19.

It really is a beautiful and tranquil place. I loved the solitude in the evening. Its located perfectly for Honiton or Cullompton. Its got everything you need to be self-catering for your stay. It's great to watch the fly fishermen at the lake. When they go it's a lovely place for a stroll in the evening.

The owners were welcoming and approachable, the accommodation, facilities and surroundings were as advertised and very pleasant however on the Sykes paperwork the address was inaccurate and the key collection details ambiguous.

The owner had expected us to ring 48 hours in advance so that they could give directions as it is difficult to find and I read it as this was only necessary if we had a problem. The property is down very narrow country lanes and it would have been useful to have had some indication of this as it was quite intimidating for a "townie".

Lovely location, and, in spite of very 'iffy' weather, we had a lovely 'get away from it all' holiday Owners were very helpful, and made us feel at home.

Location good for travelling to nearby towns. Facilities inside the cabin were spotlessly clean, and although fairly small, were perfectly adequate for a week (or two) We would consider using this location again in the future

A cosey cabin, set in beautiful surroundings.

Everything you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life with the most amazing view to wake up to in the morning. I wouldn’t highly recommend this cabin and the owners are more than helpful. We will definitely be coming back again and again :)

This was the best, the location was superb, the Cabin had everything you needed, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen, great bathroom/shower, the kitchen/Living room was cosy & warm, the view from the window was a treat to behold,.

Me and My Husband had a lovely stay at this property, the cabin felt very cosy and the surroundings were beautiful and so peaceful.

Watching the mist rising off the lake in the mornings was a real treat and at night whilst sat on the veranda we could hear otters playing and other wildlife. The owner was friendly and helpful as to nearby shops etc upon arrival. There are so many stunning places to visit in Devon and the surrounding areas, well worth a visit!! :-)

Very basic but just what we wanted the only thing needed was info on local shop and pub other wise for us it was perfect

We really enjoyed our stay There were a lot of fishermen around the lake from early until late however this was not a problem .
