Very comfortable.

A nice quiet hideaway. All you need. Small, manageable.

Place was in perfect location.

Unfortunately the mattresses was very uncomfortable fir us both and pillows very low. Had buy more pillow get at least half comfortable. Cottage is smsll but its give it quaint feeling. Relaxing and enjoyable. We had leave day early has we received bad news that morning. Apologies to owners for place been mess.

Excellent stay in such a peaceful setting every thing you need for a base.

ideal for dog owners and dog was in his oils in secure garden and walking in the fields.

Very comfortable compact my parter who is disable with mobility and balance issues found it comfortable and easy to negotiate around fantastic views great facilities would highly recommend to anyone

Lovely place very quiet.

Beautiful setting , everything we needed. The owners are very helpful with anything you needed. This is the second time we've been and I'm sure we will return.

Whilst the property location was ideal, great garden area for dogs, and central to sightseeing areas, the cleanliness and mattress comfort fell rather short.

The owner did act upon my concerns next day, but no apologies forthcoming. The mattress could definitely do with replacing as felt every spring and hadn't seen a general clean in kitchen cupboards, TV had months of dirt behind and cobwebs even had dust. Overall though this didn't distract from my stay as weather was exceptional and outside space was good.

We were slightly worried on arrival because although we knew it was small.

it was even smaller that we expected! That was our stupidity. However once we became acclimatized we settled in with our two large greyhounds and enjoyed our stay. Had the weather been kinder we would have enjoyed it more as we were unable to take full advantage of the outside space which is a big asset that would have increased our enjoyment hugely. It is Wales so we were not too surprised to have some wet weather. The views from the hill immediately outside of the carriage are outstandingly beautiful, as are the two friendly horses that live on it. It is lovely, fun, short of nothing except space, but the use made of what is available in very clever.

What a wonderful stay we had.

A peaceful few days in a lovely railway carriage. Enclosed garden was great for my dogs. Great view of the horses and wildlife. The railway carriage had everything I needed and was very clean and welcoming. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.

Very relaxing accommodation.

Lovely to be greeted by the horses and the view each day. Very quiet - an average of five cars an hour is so good! No welcome, despite what it said in the the email, and no welcome goodies or stock of logs, Only found out when we got there that there was another holiday let on site. No local contact numbers, like most places display in our experience, and local walks information would have been helpful. However, it was still a lovely stay in a lovely spot.

The Railway carriage is a fantastic space, situated in an idyllic spot where you can relish the peace and quiet and the wonderful wildlife.

Owners are a lovely family and very chatty and can't do enough for you.The accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped to make for a comfortable stay, would highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Could do with a signal boost, reduced to watching BBC Parliament on an evening as no other channel would stay tuned.

The outside decking gives the perfect opportunity for a hot tub to be installed and I'd happily pay the extra to stay. My puppy loved the enclosed garden space to run around in given we live in a flat and the kitten loved chilling and going to sleep on the grass.

The cabin was spotlessly clean and we loved the peaceful, beautiful location.

The enclosed garden was wonderful for our dogs and we enjoyed sitting on the decking watching the friendly horses in the field opposite the cabin. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel so welcome and at home. This is a beautiful place for peace and quiet and relaxation.

Everything you need for a short break. Beautiful surroundings and a great range of things to do in the area. Lovely friendly horses in the field with plenty of other wildlife. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay

We had a lovely break with everything we needed.

The property was very peaceful with lots of wildlife and scenery. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This is a beautiful, peaceful accommodation, exactly as described!

Being off the grid with no wifi was very refreshing and I loved the calming atmosphere of this beautiful carriage. I would highly recommend to anyone else wanting to have a break from the world! The only slight challenges noticed were that there was no sponge/cloth for washing up which we hadn’t realised before visiting we’d need to bring, and the shower tray filled up a bit when in use. It would have also have been nice to have maybe had a cupboard or shelf for storing some of our things on but I appreciate space is tight! It was wonderful to be able to sit outside and see the horses enjoying themselves in the paddock and we enjoyed trying to make ourselves a fire in the pit provided. Hosts are very helpful and kind.

Such a lovely place!

I had been looking forward to my stay for months after having to reschedule when my dog was injured, and it was worth the wait. The surroundings are fabulous. There are plenty of walks to do around, or you can drive a short distance for more! As the place is small it warms up really quickly and I was never cold. There’s a good amount of storage, it’s really nicely made. Very peaceful and quiet. Keith and Darren were incredibly helpful when I needed their help with my car.

Top class owners and they knew absolutely everything about the area.

Was honestly a perfect little 4 day break. Would happily return again.

Fabulous and quirky little holiday spot.

I spent very peaceful and relaxing week here with my 7month old puppy. He had a fantastic time playing in the secure garden. I must admit I when I booked it I didn’t think I’d spend much time here, I wanted to explore South Wales and this was reasonably priced ( holiday cottages are getting expensive for the solo traveller!) However it’s a beautiful spot and the carriage has everything you need and is so cosy. Luckily I had nice weather so I spent most evenings by the fire pit enjoying the tranquil surroundings. Only interrupted by the neighbouring horses looking for their carrots! If you get a clear night its great for stargazing. There are some lovely walks from the doorstep and plenty more only 10/20 min drive. The other property Rabbit Hill hut is just as lovely, I had a look round ( with permission!) The owners are friendly and helpful and gave me loads of advice on local places to visit. I could happily have spent another week here just chilling out and I was very sad to leave. I’ll just have to book again!

A lovely place to come off grid and recharge your batteries!

I loved the carriage snug and comfy, ideal for the dog as garden enclosed. Quiet and picturesque. Piping hot water and super shower! Slept like log as no light pollution! A lovely warm welcome from hosts.

It fitted our somewhat unusual party really well, reactive dog and child with special needs lived it, and we were made to feel really welcome.

THE PONIES COME TO VISIT BY THERE FENCE . DOG HAD FENCED IN GARDEN WHICH WAS SHIELDED BY THE TREES , AS HE HATES GETTING WET THE DOWN SIDE WAS THE BED THE BASE WAS KNACKERED AND THE MATTERESS WAS A KING SIZE ON A 4,6 BASE SO THE PERSON ON THE OUT SIDE HAD TOO BE SUPER CAREFULL, ,. AS I NEARLY WENT OUT BACKWARDS , COME HOME A DAY EARLEY

Great for our dog all enclosed. Wonderful area with stunning views and the canal nearby. Quite small but room for storage so was ok. Cosy fire. Horses in field. Maybe slightly larger fridge. We had a wonderful time thank you. Nicola, Darren and Keith are friendly and helpful.

Lovely place and so relaxing and quiet.

We would love to come back. It was exactly the weekend away that we needed. Our dogs enjoyed wandering the yard and we enjoyed watching them while sipping wine on the porch…. The area is quiet and loads of walking is available for anyone looking to explore.

Had the most lovely holiday!

Lovely basic railway cottage but everything we were looking for, for a hiking holiday. Lovely chap tending to the sheep stopped for a chat on multiple occasions making sure all was OK. Tiniest of improvement would be dish soap and hand soap.. other than that beautiful place to stay and will be back!

The carriage is in an absolutely stunning location.

The outside area was a great space and perfect for our dog and was totally secure so she could have some freedom. The alfresco covered eating and seating area was lovely and whiling away the evening sitting infront of fire was pretty perfect. There were a few little things that we thought may have been nice additions to the hut and we have shared them with the owner. The hut felt solid and cosy and we had an absolutely lovely time. Darren and Keith were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble . Thank you so much from Adele, Rob and Timba

We had a fantastic stay.

It’s remote and very cosy. It’s basic ( which is what we wanted ) but at the same time you have all you need. Bed is comfortable and the whole place is in a very beautiful spot . We will definitely come back. Thank you very much for a very nice stay

I thought Sykes were dreadful to deal with.

No refund if yiu have to cancel and have paid full price. The little carriage and the owners were fab. We had the best time.

The host was very helpful and welcoming,it was what I hoped for relaxing,comfortable and very enjoyable walks with our dog.

A fantastic relaxing experience, especially viewing the rabbits, sheep, and roaming horses from our accommodation, to the backdrop of the splendid Welsh scenery.

The only possible improvement that springs to mind is more ventilation, with maybe a little window that could be opened. Otherwise absolutely brilliant

We had a lovely stay at the Railway carriage.

The accommodation was a good size for us and our medium sized dog and the garden was very enclosed so there was no concern about him being out in the garden. The owners (and dad) were lovely and were a great help with any questions and for local knowledge. Loads of lovely walks were just on the doorstep, especially the old railway line all the way to Abergavenny and around the back of the local fields.

This was the perfect retreat for me and my little man

lovely stay in the railway carraige everything we needed was readily available , shower was very powerful, there was loads of hot water and plenty of plug points, we were made very welcome by the owners Nicola & Darren and Nicola's dad Keith gave us loads of info as well as keeping us amused,the horses loved the apples and carrots we fed them.

Very peaceful location with 2 friendly horses in the next field who loved some carrots and apples.

Lovely canal and railway walks and close to Abergaveny and Crickhowell. Railway carriage was well laid out with a secure garden which was great for our dog.

The railway carriage was truly beautiful with an enclosed safe garden for the dog.

Everywhere was spotlessly clean and very well equipped in such a beautiful peaceful location. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. Full of knowledge of the area for us to explore

The carriage had plenty of storage and was blessed with a very comfortable bed.

The owners were super friendly and the generous endless supply of logs for the fire pit was a real bonus. The surroundings both beautiful and tranquil. We would certainly recommend. One note, if you intend to enjoy the evening by the fire, you would benefit from taking some camping chairs.

This was a last minute get away for my myself and partner plus our 2 dogs who we take everywhere with us.

When we arrived everything was ready. We didn’t meet our hosts due to Covid restrictions but that was fine and understandable. We settled in and instantly relaxed, the girls (dogs) loved the safe garden area. We met the horses in the field and the fantastic wildlife around us. Plenty of walks on the door step. Met our hosts on day 2 and gave us loads of tips and places to walk. Loved every minute and will definitely be back. We have stayed in a lot of shepherds huts and this one is on our revisit list. If there was one thing we missed it was no welcome pack, you tend to get used to them now days. Not a problem for us we had everything with us. Take a bag of apples or carrots for the horses and enjoy... Hope to book again soon.

Amazing weeks holiday at this fabulous peaceful cottage!

Just what we needed. Very dog friendly. They had a great time too enjoying the many walks right on the doorstep of the cottage. We’ll certainly be looking to return.

Enclosed garden was great for our dog snd some lovely walks close to the accomadation. Very cosy and relaxing. Electric fire kept us toasty warm in November. Loved it!

This quaint little place exceeded all our expectations!

It was just what we both needed due to our busy lifestyle! The owners were amazing, nothing was to much trouble if we needed anything. Perfect area for exploring, walking or simply relaxing on the decking or by the fire pit. We will probably end up going again very soon

From start to finish, our break at the Railway Carriage was absolutely perfect.

We were met on arrival (at a social distance) by Nicola and Darren who were very welcoming and made myself, my wife and our two dogs feel at home straight away. The carriage itself is secluded in a beautiful location overlooking fields with views over the Brecon Beacons. Inside it had everything we needed and it was a pleasant surprise to find a lovely lemon drizzle cake and all of the essentials including milk, coffee etc. This was a great find and we loved waking up in the morning and feeding the two very friendly horses, walking in the local countryside during the day and relaxing by the fire pit with a glass of wine in the evenings. We can't wait to return - Nicola and Darren should be very proud of what they've created.

A great location for going off exploring, we walked loads.

The family were helpful in providing local information. It was nice to be able to each night come back and relax with plenty of local wildlife visiting as well as the resident horses. Would highly recommend

The cabin was absolutely fantastic.

Perfect spot for a singleton and there fur babies. Plenty of hiking areas on your doorstop and lovely dog friendly pubs. The owners were amazing the most helpful friendly people. Just lovely. Me and dogs had the best time and will definitely be returning soon.

Quiet with plenty of wildlife. Possible to leave car and walk every day from the carriage. The owners were friendly and helpful. It's a perfect place to de-stress and return to a slower pace of life. The railway carriage is compact with everything you need but without the trappings of modern living. Perfect.

We had the most delightful holiday in the Railway Carriage- what a find!

It had everything you could possibly want. Very well equipped and comfortable. Nicola, Darren and Keith were brilliant nothing was too much trouble. Keith (Nicola’s Dad) was far more knowledgeable than any leaflet or guide book and told us of many places we would never have found. The enclosed garden for the dog was a definite plus he had a great time. Also feeding the horses every morning was lovely and the tame robins that came for food. Absolutely brilliant from start to finish!

Darren , Nicky , and Keith very friendly, area lovely had a wonderfully relaxing week enjoyed feeding the horses and Keith and Darren gave wonderful advice on local walks.

After a hectic few months we enjoyed a relaxing and quiet weeks holiday.

Nic, Gareth and Keith were welcoming and friendly. The railway carriage was warm and cosy. The surrounding area beautiful.

An exceptionally charming, warm and welcoming cabin - nestled in its own fenced off area (great for dogs!

!) within a lovely field with lots of wild life... what more could you want! Nicole has created an amazing place to stay and was so welcoming - we personally had a terrible journey causing us to be late checking in, but Nicole was so understanding and really helped us continue our holiday. Once we arrived we instantly understood this was a special place - we were able to take walks straight from the cabin, eat our meals out on the decking in the sun and spend cosy evenings warm in front of the telly (when the English weather came!). It's a great base location for various walks around the Brecon Beacons and beyond - we even made it to the Pembrokeshire Coast one day. We couldn't speak more highly of this place and have already recommended it to family, friends and colleagues - we cant wait to come back!!

What an amazing place to stay!

I stayed with my two dogs for four nights in Aug 2018, and couldn’t have received a better welcome from Nicola and her family. The carriage was beautifully converted, well equipped and very comfortable. The setting was amazing and just so peaceful and relaxing. There are some wonderful dog walks along the disused railway line, the canal and old tracks ways straight from the carriage. Further afield there are lots of dog friendly places to visit and walks in the Brecon Becons. A fabulous few days. Thank you very much

I absolutely fell in love with the railway carriage as soon as I walked in, time and consideration had been put into the layout and design, the cleanliness was faultless and second to none.

I was made to feel so welcome and even Harry my dog was free to rome across the land I left feeling refreshed, rested and look forward to my return, I will never be able to thank Nic, Daren and Keith enough.

What can we say,a very warm welcome on arrival, we were delighted when we saw the railway carriage!

. It is set on the edge of a most beautiful field with its own fenced off area,which was ideal for our little dog tilly. Inside the carriage everything was beautiful Co ordinating and cosy.it was very well equipped with everything you needed.the bathroom consisted of a shower, toilet and washbasin. The bed was very comfortable. Lots of lovely walks along the canal and old railway line which were just a few steps away. On the edge of a lovely little village. We enjoyed eating out in the local pubs which were all dog friendly. The whole experience of our five day break was relaxing and tranquil, we will most definitely return. Gail and Pete,Cheshire.
