Bottom Lodge

Very nice accommodation, dropped a point for cleanliness because of cobwebs around the lodge, nice quiet area, easy to find, host was friendly and welcoming, on hand if we needed anything, would love to go back.

A nice welcome pack with fresh free range eggs from their own hens, and everything for making a hot drink.

A lovely location, the local pub only a mile away The Woodlands Tavern was very good for home made food. The hot tub was a bonus. Nick and Mary

We had a fantastic stay, the whole property has been done so nicely with all the facilities you could need. We stayed for a week and wanted for absolutely nothing. The hot tub is blissful, the location beautiful and the hosts generous. We really appreciated the local produce and detailed book of local attractions shops etc. we have already said we will be coming back for sure. The only tiny thing to note is that this is a dog friendly accomodation, I am very allergic and the cushions did have quite a lot of dog hair on, but one we worked out they were the problem we popped them in the spare room and all was fine, potentially just something to note for those of us with allergies. Again, amazing stay and can't wait to return.

Great property in a secluded location just what we needed for a bit of peace and quiet and relaxation, and the hot tub is an added bonus to top the day off relaxing under the stars.

We arrived after dark so it was a little bit hard to find, but after we did it was lovely.

It is on Usk Rd. We stayed 6 nights and are from the states so there were a few things that maybe we just don't know about the expectations of what to bring and all. We had to buy our own toilet roll as there was only one in the accommodation and the blankets and sheets were very fragrant so if you are sensitive to scent it can be a bit overwhelming. Don't turn the shower all the way on or the shower head will spray the ceiling and bring your own shampoo and soap as there isn't any. The stove is a bit tricky but once you figure it out it is easy. There is only instant coffee so bring your own if you like it brewed. The owners are lovely and you don't even notice they are there. All in all, would definitely stay again.

A beautiful lodge in a quiet area.

Fully fenced in for our dog. Beautiful and clean. All the things you would need are catered for. Dishwasher - left with two tablets Washing up liquid. Milk, eggs. Really lovely little bits. I would recommend and book again. Great weekend

We’ve been returning to Bottom Lodge at Glen View Farm in Llanvair Discoed for over 2.

5 years now, and it’s become our go-to escape. If you’re looking for peace and beautiful countryside views, this place is a gem. The hosts have really listened to guest feedback over the years — the WiFi is now excellent, which makes it even better whether you’re working remotely or just streaming something in the evening. The new hot tub is a perfect touch for unwinding after a day out walking or exploring. The lodge is cosy and well-equipped, and we love the fresh eggs from their free-range chickens. It’s also very dog-friendly, with stunning woodland walks just 5 minutes up the road. The owners live on-site — super friendly and helpful, but they completely respect your privacy. Also great for anyone visiting David Broome’s Event Centre or Chepstow Racecourse — both are really nearby. And don’t miss the local pub, which serves great homemade food. It’s become our go-to retreat — peaceful, beautiful, and run by genuinely lovely hosts. If you’re thinking about booking, just do it. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely loved our time at this cottage and would definitely stay again Owners was very welcoming and understanding by letting us charge our Electric car the first night because our car decided to tell us we was at the cottage right in the middle of Chepstow village leaving us with a very low battery when we arrived

Lovely location for exploring this part of Wales. We enjoyed the hot tub and the property contained most things you would expect for the week. We did mention the WiFi was slow and the owners did say they were in the process of getting this improved. The toilet seat was broken from day 1 which we advised them about but didn’t get replaced unfortunately.

Cosy and comfortable with great facilities and a lovely warm welcome from Sherie and Simon. It really feels like a home from home! (Though perhaps a few pasta bowls would be a useful addition to the crockery!

Loved staying at Bottom Lodge.

Clean and comfortable with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The hot tub was the perfect treat and the place was peaceful and quiet. We cycled to Caerwent along the quiet lanes and walked in the local woods. Simon and Sherie were attentive hosts, welcoming and informative but unobtrusive. The well fenced area around the lodge was paved and perfect for our dog. We also had a field for him to walk in on the farm and he enjoyed meeting all the animals. We will definitely come back.

Had to cut our stay short due to illness loved the place would be stunning in the summer only criticism is the hot tub needs a canopy cover as its in the open so all can see if your in there very friendly hosts and would stay again

Maintaining the bathroom is a must!

Shower head broken it was pinned on with a cable tie, towel rail broken & fell off, toilet roll holder broken… Bin lid missing from kitchen bin Crumbs in the cutlery tray Great hot tub *needed more water in as it only came up to the chest area*

This was one of the best stays we have had in a long time!

We wish we booked for longer. Great communication with property owners from the get go! We cannot think of a single issue or anything we would change and cannot wait to return. We had the opportunity to go and collect some eggs on the morning of departure with our young daughter (all arranged via the owners and we left it last minute for them too but they made sure it wasn’t a problem ) you’re completely out of the way of every day life but not to far from the things you need. The owners were there if we needed but not invading at all! The lodge was beautiful, clean, pet friendly, and so cosy! Thanks again guys we will be back! :)

I’ve stayed here a few times now, it’s an Amazing place to hide away and relax, great location and good facilities.

All decorated for Christmas which was a nice touch. There is woodlands nearby for walking & great local pub, right on your doorstep. After a nice walk with the dog, relaxed in the Hot tub which was extremely lovely and clean, then relaxed in front of the Log fire. Overall a fabulous week away!

All good but shower and loo seat need attention but I didn't want to give less stars. We'll be back.

Middle of nowhere and perfect location.

Great Holiday.

Lodge was as described and is a perfect hideaway for a family set in absolutely stunning surroundings. Owners were lovely hosts, greeting us when we 1st arrived with our welcome hamper of fresh eggs off the farm, milk and welsh cakes. Would recommend to others and the best way I would describe it would be at Glen View Farm you feel like you are in the middle of no-where and completely away from it all but you are no more than 15 minutes away from any amenities you need including some cracking pubs in the vicinity.

What a absolutely beautiful lodge this is, everything we hoped it would be.

Lovely idyllic location and very quiet. A very well equipped kitchen and plenty of space in the lodge. Hot tub is immaculate. We couldn't of asked for more. We loved our time here.

Amazing property in an amazing location, lovely owners who provided a nice welcome basket when we arrived as well, also showed our daughters round all the animals they keep :) hot tub was a massive bonus all round, property had all the mod cons.

Perfect break in a lovely home.

Great comms with the owner who is on site but not in the way. Extremely clean and tidy; all mod cons, comfy beds, great shower pressure, loads of hot water and TV with all the extra channels. Lots of extras that made it like a home from home, ceiling window blinds, fresh linen and towels, good quality pots and pans etc and the clean hot tub was a massive bonus. Thanks for having it ready for us on arrival. We loved your animals, the dogs are gorgeous but we love the friendly sheep and chucks. The welcome basket was a nice touch, good to be able to make a cuppa and have shortbread when we arrived. Thank you for a great stay, we will book again.

Your lodge had everything we needed and you couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable. The welcome pack was an added surprise. The bed was just as I like it and the lodge was clean and fresh, just quite a few webs and spiders! It is a farm and to be expected I know. The only part that needs a replacement is the sofa but apart from that we loved our stay, especially the super clean hot tub. Will definitely come again.

we found the cottage quite easily by our sat nav. it was in a lovely location and fully met the discription on line. We found the owners very kind and helpful. The cottage was well kept and fully met our expectations. we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to other people.

lovely stay and we had glorious sunshine the patio area and furniture was really nice Ideal location for bikers and hikers and it was nice to be able to take the dog.

there was no visitor book and i found it strange there was no mop or bucket or sweeping brush to keep the place clean I always take my own cleaning cloths and bleach.There seemed to be a lot of flies around maybe due to the hot weather used plenty of fly spray visited usk and found one of the best pub gardens ever The castle inn Liked the fact that you could get a basket meal for a fiver

Lack of maintenance lack of kitchen kit.

left a lovely welcome pack.no cleaning materials to refresh.. also the smell in the air.It ruined the holiday.will never go back as it was over £800

Beautiful little holiday home, lovely and clean.

Family was really friendly. Having the washing machine and a dishwasher was a godsend ! Beautiful been able to visit the animals. My little girl fell in love with the friendliest sheep in the world ! Only suggestion I have and they may have one but I couldn’t find it was a broom. I like to leave the holiday homes as tidy as possible .

Lovely stay at bottom lodge.

Underfloor heating was a real bonus. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Hosts decorated the lodge for my birthday and left goodies for us which was really kind and lovely surprise. Lots of lovely walking and farm shop is definitely worth a visit. There’s a Fantastic local pub nearby, takes 2 mins in car or if you like walking it takes about 20 mins. Throughly enjoyed my stay and will be returning.

We had a wonderful stay at Bottom Lodge!

The lodge is finished to a really high standard with all the mod cons you could possibly ever want or need. The underfloor heating in particular was a delight as we were staying during a cold spell! The beds were also super comfy with really high quality bedding. The location is wonderful with stunning views, and just a short walk/drive from Wentwood Forest which features lots of lovely picturesque walks. Hayley, Sherie and Simon were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them! I would recommend Bottom Lodge without hesitation!
