Very comfortable cottage with lovely views of the rolling countryside.

A very quiet location with no noise except for the birds and the cattle in the fields. The owners were most welcoming and helpful. Would recommend this cottage highly if you want a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings.

This is our second stay at Cwm Derw Cottages, and first in Black Mountain View, the cottage is wonderful, well appointed, spotlessly clean and decorated beautifully.

Rob and Liz are very friendly and welcoming. The view from the balcony is amazing, we loved watching the barn swallows and red kites. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a fantastic cottage with everything you need to make your holiday go easily.

The view from the balcony is stunning, even if the weather is not warm enough to sit out, you can sit inside and still get the same views. Rob and Liz are great hosts and will help you with any information you need. It is situated perfectly for many walks.

The furniture, fixtures and fittings were all good quality and very complete, leading to a most enjoyable visit.

The location environment was outstanding with the view from the living area and the balcony being superb. The hosts were charming and very supportive. Very highly recommended.

This was our first time in Black Mountain View, but we have already booked for next year.

The cottage is perfect. It has every thing you need, very comfortable and clean. The views over the mountains are stunning. So after you have been out all day it's lovely to come back and sit on the balcony and relax. Rob and Liz are very friendly and helpful on places to visit and how to get there. They are perfect hosts. We have stayed in the other cottage quite a few times. So would recommend these properties without any hesitation.

You could not wish to meet a nicer couple than Rob and Liz they are very helpful and helped made our stay very enjoyable so much so we have already booked for next year. We were lucky to be shown around the large farmhouse it is absolutely lovely like the other two cottages it is fantastically well laid out and equipped you won’t want to leave, Rob and Liz have done a superb restoration and we would highly recommend all the cottages on this lovely site.

A superb location for those wanting a rural retreat.

Lots of off the tourist trail walks in the area. The cottage is well equipped, warm, with great views, and the owners and their animals very friendly and accommodating. Close to Elan Valley, Brecon Beacons and even Pumlumon is within a reasonsble driving distance. I first stayed in Cwm Derw, but prefer Black mountain view for the view. I also looked around their new conversion Cwmfadog which looks fantastic and well equipped for a larger group. I will definitely be back.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming but not intrusive at all. The property was spotlessly clean with great facilities and very tastefully decorated. The views were absolutely amazing and the wood burner was fantastic. We'll be going again. It was a really lovely stay.

! You will not be disappointed with this property, we did not want to come home, the furnishings were all high-end quality, the views were amazing. The hosts Rob and Liz have done an amazing job on the 3 Holiday let’s, You would not be disappointed if you booked any of these, Black Mountain View, was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and peaceful, It had everything we needed. We met their Dogs, Ted, Harper, Dilys, and Lottie, they are a credit to Rob and Liz so well-behaved, and not forgetting the pig Angus so cute. We will most certainly be back at some point.

This is our second time staying here and it will most definitely not be our last.

Its a fantastic calm, relaxing, place to unwind, the sound of birds twittering, sheep bleating and the odd cow mooing definitely beats the sounds of cars, lorries and people coming past your house.

Black Mountain View was everything we’d hoped it would be; peaceful, clean, comfortable and in an absolutely stunning location.

It is well placed for visiting many interesting areas and we enjoyed some wonderful walks, but the highlight for us was the view from the balcony, which was amazing. Thank you Rob and Liz for your warm welcome and friendliness. We definitely hope to return.

It is a beautiful, clean, well maintained little cottage with all the requirements necessary for an enjoyable stay with the benefit of a wood burner if it's a little chilly.

The views from the cottage are stunning and can be enjoyed from the comfy sofa or on the little balcony outside. Our Host was friendly and welcoming. Full marks for everything.

My husband and I had a great holiday, the cottage was beautiful, Rob and Liz very friendly.

The view was outstanding. All in all an excellent and one we want to retreat.

Such an INCREDIBLE place to relax and unwind, from the beautiful, clean, spacious lodge with stunning views, to the fact that the vast majority of the noise you will hear is from wildlife.

Would highly recommend, the owners have put a lot of attention into making this a most enjoyable holiday, modern ensuite bathroom with shower, fridge/freezer in kitchen area, plus use of extra freezer, washing machine and dryer in shared utility. Views from balcony are amazing with added garden and Sumner house. Within driving distance there is NT properties, Elan Valley and other attractions to visit.

The holiday property was immaculate, had everything you could need, including a stunning balcony view over rolling fields, and the accommodation was only surpassed by the warmth and friendliness of the hosts Rob and Liz.

I would recommend this property to anyone who loves a walking based holiday as the surrounding areas are beautiful, and the constant sunshine we had just made it perfect.

We spent a fabulous week in Black Mountain cottage, it was a great base for cycling, walking and generally relaxing in the area.

Black mountain view is an amazing cottage with the best view and ideal for relaxation and star gazing.

Garden is amazing with a pond and some pigs. I don’t usually book on shared land but we had no interruptions and the owners are contagious with their smiles and happiness

Absolutely amazing cottage and a stunning view of the countryside.

We have stayed in many holiday accommodations with Sykes and this is one of the best ones we have ever stayed. The owners themselves are always on hand and so lovely and helpful without interfering with what you do. Can’t recommend this enough. Book it you really won’t regret it.

The views are amazing, wonderful night skies and the surrounding countryside and local towns are well worth visiting. The roads are amazing to drive and the range of places to walk will suit everyone.

A warm when you stay here which last’s all week.

Difficult to find a fault with this cottage. The views are great as you sit on the upper decking outside the lounge breakfast in the sun and all the way through to watching the bats leave there roost and heading for the pond. The cottage is up to date and clean throughout. Would recommend this stay to all. Plenty to do and see in the area with care take the back road up and over to Tregaron and visit Hay on Wye market day is Thursday. Just enjoy.

We had a fantastic holiday at Black Mountain View.

The holiday cottage is wonderful with spectacular views from the living room and bedroom. On our first morning we opened our bedroom curtains to see red kite flying past our window! It's very comfortable with great facilities, a well appointed kitchen, comforting log burner, great bathroom, beautifully decorated bedroom, lots of space to hang up coats and store walking boots at the front door and the benefit of a shared utility next door with a very useful washing machine (great if you love outdoor activities to wash muddy clothes afterwards), tumble dryer and large freezer (no need to do any top up shopping during the week). There is great walking in the area and we very much enjoyed our visits to the spectacular Elan Valley, the Red Kite Feeding Centre, beautiful Llyn Brianne and running around the trail in the Irfon forest. Rob & Liz are fantastic hosts and lovely people, who have created a perfect holiday cottage. They made us feel so welcome and gave us so much information about the local area which really added to our holiday. We look forward to returning to stay at Black Mountain View again soon.

Our first visit to Black Mountain View Cottage and it certainly won’t be our last.

This beautifully appointed cottage is in a stunning location, with lovely hosts Rob and Liz who were so welcoming, as were there three well behaved dogs too. The property was immaculately clean and very well equipped meeting our every need, we couldn’t ask for more. The cottage is set in an idyllic rural location but still in driving distance to local amenities should you require them. The view from the veranda was stunning, where we watched the morning sunrise, the early morning mist and the starry night in the dark skies, we even had the pleasure on our final morning of a visit from a red kite displaying over the field. Thank you Rob and Liz for a fantastic five days and we will see you again soon.

A lovely property nestling in hills valleys in wonderful mid-Wales.

Highly attractive interior, with lots of space for relaxing on sofas watching sky and fields in their variations. Attractive courtyard with many of colourful hanging baskets giving straightaway a strong sense of care and attention. Great location for walking from the door, and exploring almost deserted pathways and routes with spectacular views. Owners were warmly welcoming. Will certainly hope to return soon.

A fabulous cottage in a wonderful location.

Rob and Liz are perfect hosts who work hard to ensure the cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you need. A perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. The view and balcony are amazing, we loved watching the sheep, cows and birds. The cottage is a great base for exploring Powys and the west coast of Wales. Would highly recommend a visit to the Elan Valley, Aberdyfi and dolphin watching in New Quay.

We had a fantastic week at Black Mountain View.

The owners had thought of everything, a really well built, decorated and thought out property, which centred on the stunning view. This is the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Rob and Liz were great hosts and gave us ideas for days out. The surrounding area is beautiful and we will return.

Only that we received the usual personal service from yourselves and the owners of the cottage (this is our third visit to this cottage).

Ideal away-from-it-all accomodation with great scenery and local walks.

This was our first holiday after shielding and we felt safe in our surroundings.

Honestly the best cottage that we have stayed in!

Travelled over 4 hours (east London) and was absolutely worth it! The view is spectacular and the interior actually makes you not want to leave! We had some sunny weather and some misty rainy weather and both were a beautiful sight sitting on the balcony or indoors on the sofa watching out through the doors. Rob and liz were amazing.. I wanted to take their dogs with me too! Can not wait to go back! Thanks

Very peaceful place to chill out . A short drive you could visit the Kite feeding centre and then on to the Elan valley . Lovely drive along the mountain road. This was our second visit to the cottages.

Black Mountain View was even more comfortable than Cwm Deuw was. The views are amazing over the Black Mountains and to see the Red Kites wheeling on the breeze is truly a sight to behold. Rob and Liz were as welcoming and friendly as ever. The walking around the Elan Valley and Gilfach nature reserve is really restful. It was nice to return to the cottage and just relax with a good book and a glass or two of something nice. If you don't like noisy busy places, hustle and bustle and the nightclub scene then this is definitely the place to choose, where you can hear yourself think whilst recharging the batteries.

The owners, Rob and Liz, were very welcoming. The view from the cottage was beautiful. We felt very relaxed from the moment we arrived and would definitely go there again. It was the perfect base for touring mid Wales.

Just arrived home from a few days at Black Mountain View,Llanafan Fawr, Mid Wales.

We have had a absolutely fantastic time, the views are breathtaking, the accommodation is excellent and the owners are very friendly and welcoming, we wish our stay was longer, so will be definitely returning again in the future.

Fantastic cottage in a lovely setting.

Finished to the highest standards and spotless throughout. The views were breathtaking and it was a real joy to sit on the balcony and watch the farmer round up his sheep whilst the Red Tailed Kites flew overhead. The log burner was ultra efficient and we had to open the door on a couple of occasions before we cooked! The kitchen was well stocked and the only thing we needed through the week was a Tupperware dish, so take your own if picnics are planned! We could not get any WIFI, although the phones would connect to something it would not let us access the Internet. Rob was a fantastic host and full of useful information. On his advice we visited some lovely places and as walkers had chance to enjoy the local area. Aberystwyth seaside and Hay on Wye were an hour away, Brecon was 45 mins. Value for money and would stay again.

Location was stunning.

The owners were very welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. The cottage was set up well with pretty much what you would need in the kitchen, from previous experience I always take a few familiar items of my own. We found the bed a bit firm but that was probably just a personal preference . On the whole it was peaceful, quite comfortable and a good base to access the areas that we wanted to visit. I would certainly use it again and recommend it to others wanting a quiet retreat
