The Hide Out, Aldeburgh

The hideout is in a lovely location for visiting the Suffolk area , the cabin itself was more spacious than I expected very comfortably furnished , the shower was amazingly powerful the bed extremely large and comfy bedding spotless really loved having the American style fridge freezer so much storage space for all those cold drinks and essentials.

The only thing that really needs a little attention is the decor , a fresh coat of paint in the open plan lounge dinner kitchen and the main bedroom wouldn't go a miss and perhaps a little tlc to the curtains , overall the hideout is a nice spacious well equipped holiday accommodation would book again when in the area

Fabulous location just what I wanted to relax but easy to be able to drive to town and Heritage sites.

The local co-op did us proud had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend.

We foubd the lodge to be spacious, airy and comfortable.

The location along the tree line, meant it was private from one side. A couple of small items need addressing, loose wallpaper in the master bedroom and the front gate post is wobbly, but all in all, a nice place to stay

The Hideout is in a beautiful peaceful setting, discreetly tucked on the edge of the woods.

And if you were lucky like us, you will see deer in the morning. And hear the most glorious bird song. Sadly, we didn’t have good weather, but we got out every day. This part of Suffolk is so unspoilt and very pretty and there are so many amazing places to visit. We recommend Snape maltings, Orford, Southwold. Walberswick and Woodbridge. We were grateful to return in the evening to a toasty warm and cosy accommodation. With plenty of constant hot water. The Hide out is very well equipped. And the owners have included everything you needs. For better weather days or not. Our only disappointment was it just lacking a little TLC and the contents felt very old and tired. Sadly, there were stains on most things including the cushions,bed throws,and carpets. And felt we didn’t want to use the oven, grill as they were so dirty, needing a deep clean or replacement. The drinking glasses, some pieces of cookware and the work-surface when we arrived felt tacky and smeary. Maybe the dishwasher isn’t working correctly? We never used it, as we ate out. The nets and curtains were so very long, dirty and stained as they touched the floor. Where they have been trod on. I found a used dirty tissue on the floor just as I was getting into bed. The outside steps were slippery in the rain, and wooden post felt very wobbly. We felt disappointed and it was such a shame as could be an absolute gem of a place. Especially where it’s set in its perfect surroundings. It just needs a little bit more attention to cleanliness and with some updating.

Lovely place nice and quiet our bed was so comfortable every thing you need is there will certainly be rebooking for another break it’s a beautiful area to stay and explore

Very comfortable lodge in a beautifully tranquil setting.

Cosy and warm even in the throes of Storm Benjamin. The second bedroom is a bit tight on space, but probably worth the space sacrifice to have the benefit of the utility room for wet and muddy kit.

the hide out is n desperate need of a deep clean and updating of some facilities.

The outside of the unit is/ or hasn't been cleaned for a LONG time and decking / furniture / windows very grubby and dirty. The lounge curtains in desperate need of washing and if they were the right size would be great as at present at least 6-10 inches too long and filthy, the carpets could do with a spring clean throughout, Kitchen - dirty cups / plates / utensils etc etc Bathrooms dated and not clean whatsoever, i feel if the owner has this covered by a cleaning company then they may want to check what they are paying for as not great Great location but not value for money in its present state , and we felt a bit ripped off to be honest , it was in better shape when we left !!! I hope this feedback gets back to the owner as any feedback good or bad should be passed on and as you are representing this property as a company are the units / buildings you offer checked regularly ?

What a fabulous Lodge.

So well-eqipped and comfortable. So peaceful too with so many great places to visit in easy driving distance. The accommodation was great. We wanted to bring the bed home with us, it was like sleeping on a cloud! Outside area wonderful to sit and relax. Visited Thorpeness, good food at the Dolphin. Munchies at Aldeburgh is a must too. Hour river cruise from Orford was lovely and very interesting. The dogs enjoyed it too although don't know if they realised they were on a boat! Snape Maltings is so lovely to look around and a lovely lunch there too. We loved it and will definitely be back.

The lodge was large and comfortable and in a great location.

The site was very peaceful and visually attarctive. There is a lot ot do in the local area, including a very pleasant walk to Thorpeness through woods and fields. There are also plenty of places to eat in the local town and villages. A bus runs to Aldeburgh from close to the end of the access track.

Hi, the Lodge was lovely and in a great location.

But I just need to let you know of some suggestions for your property... You could make the outside appearance of the place more inviting .. there were alot of weeds, and garden equipment just left on these weeds and there was 2 bags of rubbish that hadn't been removed, and they were still there when we left ... the mattress on the main bed but it was so soft that me and my husband just sunk into it but that's just our preference... also the curtais are too long and i have tripped over them a couple of times so could easilyhave an accident. But saying this I would totally come back and recommend your property... we had a lovely break and our dog had a good time as well .. so thank you.

Prospective renters should be made aware of the condition and length of the gravel track to the property from the main road lots of pot holes need filling in also a powerful torch or lantern is essential as there is no lighting anywhere on the track around the lodges especially if you walk a dog after dark

We were very pleased with the Hide.

We liked that it was out in the country, down a long lane, very quiet, no street lighting nearby, on a very small site with only a small number of other lodges, good parking, good facilities in the lodge

Location lovely ,lodge a little tired ,pots and pans need replacing ,had to go and buy a new pan to use ,bedding had hairs and stains on it and luckily brought a couple of blankets,didn’t sleep in bed ,slept on top on own blankets as bed didn’t smell freshly laundered ,property could do with a freshen up ,in general nice quiet stay and location let down a bit by interior .

5 star bathrooms, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, spacious comfortable and well laid out living area.

External space tired and in need of attention. Paint flaking, gate posts unstable and a potential hazard. Disappointing that wifi doesn’t allow streaming. Was that made clear on published details While surfaces were clean some cupboards window sills etc clearly not: dusty spiders webs etc

The property was pretty much as we expected.

Site very quiet and peaceful. It wouldn’t be suitable for two couples as the second bedroom was quite small. However we found the lodge very comfy and would return again for a short break.

The only downside was the second bedroom.

Far too small. You couldn’t open cupboards because they hit the bed. You couldn’t fall out of bed as there was no room. Advertising should be changed. Also. No lake.

Lodge was lovely and comfortable in very quiet peaceful surroundings.

Lovely, peaceful spot!

The Cottage is just what we needed for a few days away with 2 dogs. It is adequately equipped, but would benefit from some extra blankets in the second bedroom now the nights are getting colder. There was a fair bit of rain and storm Babet had just passed through - pity the lake has not filled up again. We enjoyed some sun most days and visited many local towns and villages as well as the sea.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hide Out lodge.

It was very peaceful, the lodge was clean and well maintained as well as being more than adequately supplied with kitchen itensils and amenities. A real home from home. We would definitely go there again.

The lodge was comfy the heat worked very efficiently plenty of hot water and pressure and everything we needed was provided.

The broad band was poor and didn’t reach the main bedroom Outside I’m afraid calling the pond a lake was a stretch and from the comments left it hasn’t had water in it for a a few years. The outside table was shabby and two chairs were broken A new set of sofa and table were very nice but left at the back. However what let it down was the deck it was slippy and green and dirty. A couple of hours with a power washer would have improved our experience a hundred percent

Had a lovely few days with great weather.

The lodge was very comfortable and contained everything you would need. The decking area was nice and spacious and had very nice outdoor furniture, I particularly liked the hammock. I had to cut back a few bramble runners that were encroaching onto the decking though and some of the furniture had bird poo on it which had to be cleaned off, but for me that wasn't to much of a pain. The one big problem we had though, was getting in, we were putting in the code for the key and it would not open. It was about half an hour later that we found another key box around the corner attached to the front fence which worked. I think that could have been made more clear. The stay far outweighed the little niggles though.

We had a fabulous week in The Hide Out.

Peaceful location and ideal to explore the local villages and nature reserves. Had it been wet the owners taste in DVDs and books would have kept me happy, all my favourites. The lodge so spacious and well equipped plus extras, ie dish washer tablets, soaps etc. The decking area was lovely, plenty of seating and hammock was fun but the wooden garden furniture was tired and seats were cracked, covers dirty. The lake had dried up, which was a shame, no one’s fault, gave it a neglected air but would return for the peace and quiet and location.

On arrival we thought the outside of this particular property needed a little TLC.

Access step’s & bannister rickety & in need of a repaint. Inside first impressions lovely & spacious, bedrooms fabulous. Facilities good but kettle & cutlery could do with replacing. Lounge curtains too long & bunched up on the floor, causing a trip hazard. The windows were not clean & tap in second bathroom was very stiff. I received the E-mail regarding “no water in the lake” the day we arrived so disappointed it was not as advertised. The site was not clearly marked on the entrance from the road (faded) & the long drive to the site was off putting. However our stay was comfortable & we had fabulous weather (loved the hammock) so enjoyed visiting places we had not been to before. We will use Sykes again of course but check information about properties thoroughly before booking.

Super cabin.

Deceptively spacious with a lot of thought gone into providing everything you need. Appreciated welcome pack and basic necessities- Handwash, washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc. Was absolutely ideal as a base to explore Suffolk villages.

Lovely setting.

Ideal area for sightseeing. Very comfortable chalet and roomy. We nanny, grandad, two grandchildren and two springer spaniels really enjoyed ourselves.

Just a note. Saucepans could do with replacing, needs a bit of a deep clean. But still had a great time, would love to return x

Our first time in Suffolk, and we have discovered a beautiful county, rich in heritage and culture.

Excellent lodge well equipped and homely.

Quiet & tranquil location. Thank you so much for the welcome pack. Not a criticism but a good torch or lantern is a must for a dog walk after dark. Also the lane could be made more aware of for some drivers, not that it really bothered us. Would recommend this lodge for a really relaxing holiday as it's central base to travel to many destinations.

Lovely holiday home, very clean all we needed and very comfortable.

We have enjoyed our stay. We wondered why there are no ducks or moorhens on the pond!

The location is blissful - enjoying our evening glass of wine on the veranda! The lodge is well equipped with everything you need. Would recommend 10/10.

Lodge is very nice and comfortable - loved the hammock. The peace and quietness, just the sound of the birds - blissful. And what a bonus with the great weather!! :)

We have had a lovely time here, have explored lots of little hamlets and coasts nearby, but it is always lovely to come back to our tranquil little nest.

We would definitely love to stay again. I grew up in Norfolk and my sister lives on the Norfolk/Suffolk border so to me it just feels like coming home, I am a country girl at heart. Thank you everyone, and a special thanks to the cleaners who I know work very hard x
