What guests are saying
All about the location and the views, which were amazing and cannot be faulted.
However the accommodation itself is very tired and in need of some tlc. The bathroom appears to have been recently painted, there is more paint on the towel rails and floor than the walls which is a shame. General cleanliness is an issue, lots of cobwebs needed attending to. Shower and bathroom sink were both full of hair which is disgusting. Sadly the welcome pack was not there either. We wrongly assumed there would be toilet roll too, my mistake but I do think this is an essential.
Best location at the end of the harbour, perfect for watching the sunset on the bench with a glass of wine.
Close to the pub and the new Salt Shore bar and brasserie which serves lovely fresh food. Lots of lovely walks straight from door. Accommodation is a bit tired looking, wood rotting in places, covers on furniture has holes etc but doesn’t detract from overall experience. Lovely touch of bottle of wine and biscuits left for us. We have stayed here before and will stay again.
My husband and I love to stay in places that feel more like an experience, and this really is quite special.
The views - the skies - are incredible. It’s peaceful but there’s still a lot of life around. And if you haven’t visited the area before it’s perfectly placed for walking to the centre of Southwold, Walberswick, the beach, and just generally wandering up and down the working harbour. The hut itself (feels like a cabin really) is comfy and cosy. It’s not fancy - which suits us perfectly - but it’s been carefully and thoughtfully put together and there are some lovely touches. As the listing makes clear, It IS small but there’s a chest of drawers and a small wardrobe, plus ledges and lots of hooks. So we found homes for everything for a week’s stay. The listing’s a bit light in detail so for packing info, the kitchen is fully equipped; there’s an iron, ironing board and hair dryer; there were a couple of tea towels, a j-cloth and sponge left for us, plus loo roll, bin bags and washing up liquid which may or may not have been left by the previous guests. We paid it back/forward and left loo roll, pepper and paper towel. It feels like a sharing kind of place. (For your ref, not for a public review - the shower isn’t great. It might be the water pressure, but I’m mentioning it in case the shower head needs replacing. We descaled it and that didn’t help).
