Eagle Lodge

Third visit here and we absolutely loved it as ever, beautiful surroundings, comfortable and a great base to explore.

All in all very good just a few niggles bits no light on outside veranda so couldn't sit out of an evening and bathroom electric heater not working.

we will come back again as nice and secluded and quiet .This was our second year in one of the lodges and we loved all about it except there was no light on the veranda .5 star for everything else. Many thanks to all.

This 2 week holiday with our pet jack russel was the best holiday we have had in Scotland.

I would highly recommend eagle lodge for any one to have. It’s very quiet but plenty of places within 10 to 100 miles but obviously you need transport. Gailoch and Ullapool are excellent places to visit along with Victoria falls and rougie falls so defo going back here again.

Lodge was nice and cosy all clean except the bathroom it smelt of urine did not look dirty i washed it mostly every day with zaflora possibly in the wood so can't be helped.

Plenty cleaning products.The lodge itself my husband his mobility not great wasn't far to go to the lodge but bit too far for him and unable to use his mobility scooter as was too bumpy ,some one active loves walking would be perfect , my 2 yorkies loved it

Lots of cobwebs in lodge when we arrived particularly around pictures frames and light fittings… no wifi … tv and free sat box next to useless try to watch something and it kept giving weak signal message on screen and then it would cut out leaving a blank screen for several minutes then come back on ….

advice do what I did take good old physical books with you….there was a decent dab radio in the lodge

Loved the lodge couldn’t fault it the setting was amazing, the facilities were excellent.

Very peaceful and tranquil spot. Our only slight reservation was the instructions on how to find it they are a bit confusing and only work if your coming from the Contin side of the village and the instructions reference signage that isn’t there however it’s a minor quibble on what was a wonderful stay and would definitely consider returning in the future.

Enjoyed our stay at Eagle lodge .

Lovely woodland setting. Clean and well appointed. However... TV didn't work , wouldn't stay tuned to any channels for more than a few seconds. Also .. no internet ??? Bathroom heater not working.

Was a lovely stay the accommodation was great and surroundings were lovely and so peaceful

We arrived when it was dark and couldn’t find Eagle Lodge - a sign in the car park would be useful.

I ended up phoning the owner who was very helpful. We couldn’t get the heater or the fan heater in the bathroom to work, luckily the lodge was pleasantly warm so we managed without them. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Lovely clean cabin and stunning location would recommend it .

It was the best for us

Lovely peaceful setting, clean and comfortable , lovely and cosy after a day out or relaxing on verandah.

A fantastic base for exploring the surrounding areas. Only suggestion I would make would be to have a knife block or a couple more knives and some pasta bowls. Would definitely return.

Our second stay at eagle lodge and we love it here.

All I would say is to update the photos on the website as the new carpet and sofas would attract more customers. Could do with some more crockery but generally very well equipped

Absolutely loved our time at Eagle Lodge Lodge was very clean and well presented excellent views and great walks nearby Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet secluded location to unwind away from city life We are going to book again for next year

Eagle Lodge is a delightfully peaceful sanctuary in the Blackmuir Wood, surrounded by trees and birdsong and we really appreciated the direct access to local wood and hill walks.

We were very pleased to find how clean, comfortable and well equipped the lodge was, we needed for nothing. Even though there was no WIFI available at the lodge, we managed with our phones and thus minimised screen time, which was a benefit! The location was perfect for trips East to the Black Isle and West to Ullapool, Plockton etc. with stunning scenery enroute. This was our second visit to the Blackmuir lodges and certainly wont be our last.

We had a perfect stay at Eagle lodge, lovely location in the forest, peaceful and quiet.

There were places to visit nearby and we went to visit the isle of sky as it was approximately 2 hour drive. Great dog walks and staff were helpful and friendly. We will be back.

The property was as before very good.

We had one problem with a light switch that we reported. the only improvement would be to install wi-fi.

Everything was fine aside of the frying pan.

It’s size doesn’t match the cooker… Maybe Wifi?..

We've been returning regularly to Eagle Lodge for the best part of 25 years, originally in the summer with our children when they were young but more recently just the two of us, with dog, for an early autumn break.

It's so peaceful and out of the way but with facilities readily at hand either in Strathpeffer or in Dingwall. Plenty of good walks nearby and wildlife to see (red squirrel and red kite this time) but deer and buzzards etc also. Two things we did notice. Firstly, the fan heater on the wall in the bathroom didn't seem to be working although the light was indicating an electricity supply to it. Secondly as the trees have grown around the lodge there was a lot of interference with the tv, either no signal or a very weak signal which kept dropping out and which was a bit frustrating when trying to watch the football, or even worse for Mrs M trying to watch Strictly. The satellite dish may need repositioning or replacing.

Lovely cabin and location, only a couple of issues bath towels provided are not big enough and not enough hot water to have a full relaxing bath.

We had a really nice stay there lodge was better than the photos showed with new carpets and couches recently put in.

Like everyone else we struggled to find it initially but the house keeper was very helpful and directed us in. Great place to be based in a peaceful setting would love to visit again

Lovely lodge to stay with family of 4.

Nice location, good base for day trips in the Highlands and good walks from the lodge itself. The lodge had everything we needed. There is no WiFi but we had a good signal on both Three and O2. Mind that the location in description/ maps is not correct…..it is a bit tricky to find. From the Coniton - Dingwall road (A384) you need to turn right towards the Muir wood forestry car park. Search for Ross Holiday homes on Google or use ‘HFH4+JW3 Strathpeffer’. Go past the forestry car park on the right, then you will see a gravel car park which is where you want to go. Take the path between 2 lodges on the car park and follow signs to Eagle Lodge

The property was nice and comfortable, it could do with a better bathroom heater,

Booked at very short notice, as our other holiday was cancelled due to ferry problems.

But glad it was, this little spot in the woods with the lovely cabin was just what the doctor ordered. So quiet and fresh, comfortable, with everything you need, even a small torch for that the dog out in the dark. Thank you, you have a brilliant wee place, we will return x

Eagle lodge was comfortable and cosy, it is meant to be four berth, but it was better just us two.

The lodge is a distance from where you park, so you have to carry your luggage and any shopping about 100 ~ 150 yards to and from the car. This isn’t so bad in daylight hours but at night it is pitch black so a torch is a necessity. Apart from this we would go again as the area is very picturesque and there are plenty of places of interest in the vicinity. Our two dogs especially enjoyed the night walks with all the frogs and toads. All in all we enjoyed our break and can’t wait to come back to Scotland.

The location is fab, facilities inside the cabin are great, only the WiFi issue I would say is something to look at but we just used our 4G from our mobiles to tether to. Loved going onto the balcony in the mornings or late at night to watch the birds. Some fabulous walks round the back of the cabin and then places like Rogie Falls are so close! All round a brilliant place to stay, thank you. Xx

No vacuum cleaner, a broom but no dustpan (we donated one).

Given ticks dust pet hairs etc a vacuum would be very helpful. Could do with a couple of other saucepans and a smaller frying pan. Operation of TV box not obvious, instructions might help? Otherwise brilliant, comfortable and so restful in a wonderful location

Upon arrival, I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the property.

Everything advertised for the property was present and the standard of utensils, appliances, bedding etc was high. Very little room for improvement but a welcome gift wouldn’t have gone amiss as well as WiFi. I brought my own WiFi router with me which worked perfectly, so it would be perfectly feasible for the owner to provide this service. Overall though, the property was of a high standard in a beautiful location. I hope to return and would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

A colander or sieve would be useful.

A great deal of the information about the surrounding locality in the lodge handbook is seriously out of date! The directions to the lodge are vague to say the least, it would be helpful to say that you need to drive up the track past the Forestry car park.

Excellent cabin in quiet forest area but only 15 minute walk to centre of Strathpeffer.

Warm, comfortable and well equipped. It takes 4 people but I do, however, feel it is a bit small for 4 as the double bedroom is tiny. For my brother in law and I, it was spot on.

Needs a lot of attention.

Very clean and comfortable lodge in a great location with everything we needed for our stay.

Would perhaps benefit from a small dustpan and brush and some form of non slip mat for the bath as it is very slippery when taking a shower. Great walks on the doorstep for our dog which he enjoyed very much. Thank you for a very enjoyable visit, would recommend.

We had a fantastic time and have already recommended it to friends!

The only thing was the fridge freezer was a tiny bit small but, with the design of the kitchen, this couldn’t have been helped! We would definitely come back!

Couldn't fault the lodge. Felt closer to nature. It felt very private. Lovely walks around the forest. We look forward to coming back.

Eagle lodge is a lovely log cabin, set in a quiet location-(not the easiest to find), and has a fantastic forest to get lost in, my teenagers and dogs just loved it.

Strathpeffer is in a central location to visit east or west coast. We had never been up North-East highlands before and drove up to John O'Groats and Dunnet head, stopping in a lovely tea shop on route. Another day, we went to Ullapool, which is within easy reach.

2nd time at this holiday lodge and we just love it.

Hopefully be back again next year

The directions to the the location were frankly useless.

Everyone arriving at the site at the same time seemed to experience the same difficulties as the directions were over-complicated. The lodge was very well equipped and very comfortable and could not be faulted. I think the experience could though be enhanced by having some personal interaction with someone on site this avoiding some initial difficulties with the television, keys and locks etc. Otherwise, I great experience.

The duvet in the double room is filthy.

I was horrified when I removed the cover at the end of our stay. Other than that, the lodge is perfect, better than your listing indicates. We had a great week with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Lots of space for everyone to relax.

Couldn't have found anything better, such a lovely setting, very welcoming and everything we needed.

Really enjoyed our stay at the eagle lodge, i would say some clearer directions on finding the lodge would be handy as i called the caretaker (who was very helpful and friendly) as we couldn't find the lodge.

you have to walk between two other lodges to get to it, the shared carpark is the only indication you are in the correct place. The lodge itself is lovely, we were there as a group of 4 plus two dogs and had ample space. Kitchen well stocked with utensils and crockery. The location is great, not far from some lovely walks and only an hour or so from lots of bigger towns, we used it as a ‘base camp’ for doing some days trips exploring some of the more northern areas such as ullapool. Would definately reccomend and would return

We had a really enjoyable stay, nice to be met with chocolates.

The lodge is one of six lodges on the site, I thought would be isolated but still had privacy. Sofa and carpets felt a little dated but nothing wrong with either just personal preference. Was great having a washing machine and tumble dryer on last night we managed to get half our clothes clean, takes the pressure off when got home. Only major improvement is those last few directions, you do not see the lodge from the road the only indication its there is a parking space with a low level sign saying Eagle Lodge, maybe a sign from the road, two of the other lodges have signs so eagle Lodge could as well

The mini break was set in a great place, the Lodge was brilliant,clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing break.

Only down side was running out of hot water during a shower

Directions could be made easier to follow.

Without GPS it was hard to find the road leading to the cabin coming from the Contin road. No signs from car park for the woods to say what road to take

Door on the freezer compartment in the fridge would be a good addition.

Without doubt our best uk holiday (or even any holiday) we have ever had.

The cabin was perfect in every way,it was clean,super comfy and in an amazing location,perfect for exploring the highlands and it’s beauty. We are booking again for November for a winter getaway!

We booked the lodge as a last minute holiday as we normally do cottages in the highlands &our dog was still detained to small walks as he had cruciate ligament damage in both hind legs got right leg done in June &left leg just 4weeks ago although we have did walks at blackmuir woods.

Directions given weren't 100% accurate - should be go straight ahead, not turn left at the end.

Anyone using google maps should search for Ross Holiday Homes and it will take you right to the lodge.

This lodge was dirty,and fridge had a freezer with no door and nothing froze except on fridge shelf.

rang owner and accused me in so many words as a liar. Her house keeper does a good job.The bathroom has an awful smell and l had to clean it.The kitchen and fridge dirty. Just thick dust and cobwebs everywhere.floors dirty. The Hoover they expect you to use stinks bad and broke.l could go on .lt ruined holiday l just did not want to stay there.

The cottage was perfect, everything we needed was there and it was really comfortable, the setting was amazing, very natural and peaceful.

Ideal for a peaceful retreat.

What a beautiful location.

The peace and quiet but we have been there before but not that one.

It was just amazing even the 2 x dogs where chilled and considering one is only 11 months old that is saying something. The only thing it was a bit annoying was the satellite dish kept dropping the signal so didn't get a lot of channels not a great hardship and we did leave a comment in the book. Would definitely recommend it as I have done for your company many times really fab time felt as if we had a holiday.

Great base for exploring.

The Lodge had everything you needed. The Lodge was also pet friendly and even had a dog bed out on the veranda. Great woodland walks and plenty of peace and quiet.

No problem with our booking through Sykes - my only constructive criticisms would be that the website could be a little bit clearer with the description.

The photo and description of ample parking gives the impression that parking is directly outside the lodge, which would have been ideal for us as my grandfather has to have a wheelchair as he has limited mobility and also has a portable oxygen unit, however the parking was actually a little way from our lodge down a gravel path which was quite awkward as the wheels sank into the gravel but we managed, it just wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. The other thing we found a little confusing was that the website stated our power was included in our price, however in the information pack inside the lodge, there was a long explanation about electricity and how to complete a form with the meter readings at the start and end of your stay and who to make a cheque payable to. I actually found the form in a cupboard and checked my booking details several times to make sure I hadn't misunderstood anything. Although I had satisfied myself that we had 'pre-paid' for our power I was very conscious of this for the duration of our stay which made me slightly unsettled throughout our stay. As a say nothing but some clearer instructions would resolve for anyone else staying here and now I know the location of each lodge I would just book one with parking directly outside.
