Wonderful property in a fantastic location.

The hosts were great, cabin had all the facilities you could wish for really. Great place to unwind and relax, we will certainly be visiting again! My only recommendation for improvement would be the addition of EV charging facilities, there are plenty to chose from down in town though so not a show stopper.

We had an amazing honeymoon at the lodge.

It exceeded our expectations in every way. The surroundings were beautiful, it feels remote but is just minutes from supermarkets. We loved watching the wildlife. The hosts were very helpful. I definately recommend a stay here!

Moorhen Lodge was situated in secluded woodland but close enough to the city of Inverness to be a perfect location for exploring the Black Isle, Loch Ness and the surronding area.

The Lodge is picturesque, very clean and tidy, well appointed with ample room for a party of 4 adults. Bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size with more than enough storage, very comfortable beds. All services are included and we did not want for anything, wi-fi is excellent. We could relax without having to worry about anything. Hot Tub was great. Helen our host was discreet but if or when needed was very helpful, including clearing the snow from the track leading to the lodge! The wildlife on our doorstep was incredible, red squirrels a daily occurrence and birds of every type viewed without having to leave the comfort of the settee. Would definitely recommend this cabin to our friends.

Moorhen Lodge was stunning inside as well as outside.

There was nothing we could think of that could improve the Log Cabin. Helen, the owner, made us feel so welcome, so much so, that we will be returning in September for 2 weeks!

We had the most amazing week in Moorhen Lodge during the first week of October.

Helen and David were excellent hosts with fantastic communication prior to arrival and then checking up on us during our stay. They were extremely thoughtful and helpful especially during the storms and power cut which made it just like an off grid adventure. Helen provided lighting and a flask of hot water so that we could still function and have tea/coffee. As for the location, it was ideal. You feel totally out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the wood, yet it's only 5-10 minutes from Inverness. Perfect short woodland walk for our wee dog first thing and last thing at night but ideal for travelling for fantastic dog walks. We followed the sunshine that week and visited many beaches and woodland walks within a decent drive. Rosemarkie, Chanonry Point, Dornoch (twice), Cullen, Rogie Falls, North Kessock and Ord Hill just along the road. Just perfect :) The lodge itself is constructed from huge logs and is beautiful. The matresses were extremely comfortable and firm offering a fantastic sleep and the log burner kept us cosy at night too. We ate in having bought food from House of Bruar on the way up and then a chippy on the last night. The decking with the hot tub had a canopy and it was great to sit out at night and see the stars as there was no light pollution. I cannot recommend this lodge enough and I found it good value for money too. We will definitely be back. :) Joanne

What a wonderful week we’ve had in the Highlands!

The lodge was absolutely perfect, so rustic and cosy, especially with the autumn colours all around. We loved our little daily visitors, the woodpecker, pheasants, the cheeky squirrel, and all the different birds that made each morning feel so peaceful and alive. Even Storm Amy’s best efforts to leave us without electricity couldn’t dampen our spirits! In fact, it was bliss to go back to basics with a roaring fire and no dependency on technology, a real lesson learnt. Helen & David looked after us so well, arriving with torches, flasks of hot water, and plenty of wood to keep the fire burning bright. We felt truly cared for. Some of our favourite adventures included Rogie Falls (simply stunning), a Loch Ness cruise (a must-do!), and a trip to Ullapool with its incredible views. We also loved stumbling upon hidden gems? Invermoriston had some lovely surprises, plus countless other Castles, Lochs & visitor attractions. As big Outlander fans, visiting Clava Cairns and Culloden was really special? such powerful and atmospheric places. Thank you for a perfect stay it’s been a beautiful, memorable week in every way. We had a fantastic stay at Moorhen Lodge- an authentic log cabin in an exceptionally peaceful and beautiful spot.

Easy to spend the day enjoying the views from the cabin and watching the birds. We loved it! Close to the Cairngorms and ten minutes from Inverness- ideal. Whilst there, Storm Floris struck and we were cabin- bound and without power for a few hours . Helen and David were amazingly kind- bringing us flasks of hot water and even bringing a delicious home- cooked meal for the whole family! Highly recommend!

Amazing relaxing break.

Hosts had thought of everything and made us very welcome. So much to see and do locally, but also lovely to spend time just relaxing. Such a tranquil peaceful place surrounded by nature but also not far from Inverness. Definitely will come back and great to be able to take both our 6yr old and our dog on our break. Lodge immaculate and decorated to high standard. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed!

We had an amazing week in a stunning Log Cabin ,we were sad to leave .

It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, the owners Helen and David were lovely and there on site if we needed anything. We saw pheasants a Pine Martin and a red squirrel outside our window , it’s so peaceful in the woods stunning setting. Although a long drive from Newcastle it was well worth it. Some wonderful places to visit ,excellent food ,everywhere we went people really friendly ,our dog enjoyed the lovely beaches. We would highly recommend this beautiful place. Thanks again. Can’t believe we were 10 mins away from Inverness.

This peaceful perfect cabin, surrounded by nature in abundance, was a much needed break for us. We were brave to follow the instructions given to us by David & Helen & not the satnav, as you will end up going around in circles. Had the best nights sleep in a while & loved waking up to the red squirrels & finches galore on the feeder. Thank you Helen & David for sharing your cabin to us & providing pretty much everything we needed ! Can’t wait to return Lizzie, Tim & Jessie

Absolutely beautiful cabin.

The area was perfect. Secluded, quiet and peaceful. However, shops were just a 10 minute drive away. The cabin and surrounding woods were spotless. As was the hot tub. Plenty of forest walks for the dog, and lots of wildlife to see from the cabin window. We particularly liked watching the squirrels. David & Helen were just a text or phone call away if we needed anything. We loved our time at Moorhen Lodge, and are now home feeling refreshed and well rested. We would definitely recommend a visit.

If you want peace and quiet this is that place in a wood with plenty of wild life and both owners so friendly and helpful nothing is to much bother

Holiday was absolutely fantastic.

The log cabin was everything you could ask for, spotless, comfortable, everything at hand that is needed and more. The peace and quiet is perfect if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. Plenty of places to visit and amazing views. It's good to waken in the morning and watch the birds and red squirrels eating off the feeders. The hosts go far and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and ask you to contact them if anything is required. We will definitely return to Moorhen lodge in the future Karen and John

Moorhen lodge had everything you needed for your stay.

The trees were bustling with wildlife that you can watch from the lodge and hot tub. The lodge was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. The setting of the lodge is amazing and so peaceful for a restful relaxing holiday.

Good quality furnishings and appliances, very comfortable beds and pillows .The owners Helen and David were very nice and accomodating . Just one suggestion- adding one more armchair in the lounge would seat 4 adults more comfortably. Thank you very much

! It’s absolutely stunning, everything you can think of is included, the hot tub is well maintained and again everything provided. The grounds are so nice and wildlife is encouraged with the feeders so you can sit and enjoy the huge amount of different birds and red squirrels. Location wise, it’s brilliant, everything is close by and easily accessible, we run out of time to visit things! In our week we visited Cawdor castle, fort George, landmark theme park, Inverness museum and shopping, Loch Ness, Nairn beach (absolutely stunning) Tesco is two minutes away for all your shopping. So no need to cart everything in the car on your way!!

The lodge is wonderful.

Better than I anticipated. Extremely clean and lots of helpful amenities. The hot tub is lush and is exactly what is needed after a day full of adventures. I look forward to returning

we wish that we would of booked 2 weeks there, we didn't want to come home.Scotland is a wonderfull place and so are the people.helen and dave were brilliant hosts. Overall a truly Amazing holiday,we will be back next year hopefully.

The property was beautiful, clean and had literally everything we could have ever needed. Helen was friendly and available if we needed anything.

We had a wonderful New Year at Moorhen Lodge.

It is a wonderful place to escape to. Our giant pup loved the wildlife, walks and beaches. Our kids (10 & 8) loved hunting for Dolphins and lazing in the hot tub (& the WiFi). My husband and I loved the absolute peace and comfort while watching the wide variety of birds from our window. It is a fabulous Lodge, they have thought of everything and were on hand if needed without invading our holiday in any way. We are planning to go back. The lodge is so cosy with all the facilities of home. The beds were comfortable with extra blankets if needed. The extra touches included a real Christmas tree. It was lovely. NB if you plan a New Year break many of the local hotels and restaurants close to recover from the festivities, plenty still available in Inverness though.

The Lodge was really cosy and well appointed. The location was so peaceful and quiet and we loved the jacuzzi especially at night time watching the stars and enjoying the peace. Great location for visiting various places around the Highlands. The hosts were really attentive and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Many thanks thoroughly recommend this lodge.

We had a lovely holiday staying in ‘Moorhen’.

The lodge was super clean and the beds comfortable for us all. The lodge is located in a wonderful woodland setting and waking up to watch red squirrels feeding and pheasants searching for breakfast is certainly a fantastic experience and enjoyed hugely by our young daughters. The owners, Helen and David, are extremely friendly and helpful. It’s the second time we’ve been and we’ll look forward to returning.

Helen and David were lovely hosts and the box of goodies on arrival was much appreciated and such a nice touch! The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. (Not that we did any cooking) Lots of birds, red squirrels and even saw a deer outside the lodge. Only regret, a week is not long enough as there is so much to see and do would definitely return.Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic time at Moorhen Lodge in North Kessock.

The lodge is beautifully appointed and feels like nothing we have ever stayed in before. The peace and quiet is really quite something, and on a clear night the sky is absolutely stunning. There is a plancha-style gas BBQ on site but as the property is in a protected area, you can't have naked flames indoor or out - so no charcoal BBQs or candles. The parking space outside is a little on the small side, so be sure to practice your five-point turns in advance. The beds are comfortable and the en-suite is lovely too. The wood-stove is a really nice addition and makes the living room nice and warm for when you've had enough of the hot tub. It uses a fair bit of fuel, but we contacted Helen and they can supply net bags for a small charge. We managed to get a Tesco delivery and a local taxi company out to the lodge - it really is in the middle of nowhere - but the directions are fairly simple once you get used to them. The fridge is huge, and there's a dishwasher and washer/dryer there too. The TV and sound-bar are decent and there's a spare HDMI on there for a Chromecast too if you have one. The WiFi is pretty decent in the lodge, but - as expected - there's no mobile signal on EE/O2, so make sure you have one phone in your group that can make use of WiFi Calling. All in all, a beautiful, secluded, peaceful lodge and we absolutely loved it. Looking forward to coming back!

Appreciated the small things such as, salt & pepper, cooking oil, washing up liquid etc. Already booked to return in 2021.

We were close to Inverness but in the woods so felt secluded and enjoyed a truly authentic Scottish experience. The lodge was spotlessly clean and the facilities were excellent!

Fabulous log cabin Lodge with only one other similar lodge next to it (both being strategically placed to provide privacy if both lodges were in use).

The location is fairly secluded being set in a wood approximately 2.5 miles away from the nearest shop/cafe/pub but this rather enhances than detracts from your holiday experience as it is very peaceful and relaxing. The host Helen was in contact with advice and travel tips before arrival and is very welcoming and helpful and on hand if required for anything. Our party consisted of two couples being friends all around 60 years of age looking for a relaxing holiday and places to visit. The location is ideally suited to explore the area with numerous attractions to consider. We can highly recommend this Lodge its location and of course the host Helen.

Fantastic hosts. Very relaxing stay - the hot tub was great. You can truly escape here if that's what you are after - truly switched off. Close proximity to Inverness meant that it was very easy to access what you needed for a self catering holiday. Car essential.

Moorhen Lodge was an amazing family experience; quiet & tranquil, but yet close to Inverness, beautifully presented accommodation, NO Midges, superb hot tub, you should seriously think about this venue if you are thinking of staying in the Highlands.

Amazing lodge in a beautiful setting.

Location central for exploring but location of lodge is also isolated for peace and privacy. The hot tub was a lovely way to end each day after long walks. Only improvement we could suggest would be the addition of robes to use.

Absolute peace of heaven!

The lodge is really well equipped with everything you could need and the hosts go above and beyond with lots of lovely finishing touches. Ideal area in that you are remote enough to feel away from the hustle and bustle but 10 minutes drive and you’re in Inverness.

Owner couldn't have been more helpful and the accomodation was perfect set in the ideal location.

We had a fantastic time at Moorhen Lodge, the log cabin, location, the owners are all superb and we would highly recommend.

Can’t fault Moorhen Lodge, a great place to stay!

! Helen and David were perfect hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful and kind, ensuring we had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed the accommodation and couldn’t have been more comfortable. The location is perfect!! Easy access to the main roads to get about to different places but also private and quite to enjoy the forest and leave the car behind to do local walks to Ord Hill, Kilmuir and North Kessock. We can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be back.

Moorhen cabin was fantastic.

the cabin is in a quiet location but close to Inverness and other attractions.the owners Helen and David did all they could to help us with any issues we had and kept us well stocked with logs for the wood burner.also the hot tub was great.we will be returning to this great cabin very soon. The hot tub is a wonderful bonus and 'having a long relaxing soak' while listening to and watching the wildlife at the end of a day exploring is a must and recommend it. Great place to stay, and will certainly be back next year
