A beautiful property in a beautiful setting.

The views are spectacular and change with the weather and time of day. We enjoyed seeing the Golden Eagle up over the hills behind the house and the teams of partridges scuttling along the roads. All in all, a tremendous week, very relaxing. The house is beautifully laid out for people to relax and enjoy themselves when not out on one of the many walks available on the island

We had a fantastic stay and would definately stay again. The views are fantastic and plenty to explore on the island. We had success fishing off the pier at Black Mill Bay Pollock and Mackerel. The only feedback we have is that the shower room / ensuite needs attention the mould there is many months of build up and unpleasant.

In the main, the cottage was quite tidy but cleanliness could have been little better. Our hosts were friendly and allowed us to enjoy our holiday. Views were fantastic, plenty wildlife and ample walking but amongst livestock. Would go back.

We had a completely magical stay at Ardlarach.

The house is wonderful with spectacular views. The location was perfect for a family holiday and ideal if you are looking to switch off. The Cadzow's couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Highly recommend - we cannot wait to go back!

Stunning location every bit as good as the description and photos suggested and lovely house: warm, comfortable, well equipped.

A beautiful place to stay, just a shame my trip was so ill fated on many counts. Frustrating that TV does not work and no DVD player (despite DVDs) which wouldn't matter in good weather but alone in storms would have been good! Guest guidance could do with an update, it currently says no pets/livestock when Sykes website says dogs welcome. Operating instructions are for a TV no longer there.

Such a nice and quiet house.

Place is magnificent. Very comfortable, everything is here. We were 2 adults, 3 kids and my dog. We had the best holiday ever. Thanks to the owner , the install a Christmas tree for us. I just can recommend this house.

We ie my wife and I and our dog had a wonderful week at Ardlarach - greatly helped by splendid weather - only 2 days of rain, otherwise glorious sunshine.

Beautiful house, well appointed and in a superb setting. Handy for most places on the island - even the shop was walkable. Hard to fault it really - though if I had to, while the bowl of fruit on arrival was very much appreciated, given the remote setting, we would have exoected a bottle of milk to start us off. But that's nit-picking - yes, wonderful place, thoroughly recommend for a holiday in a very remote setting but still with all mod cons. Alastair, Jane & Urska.

What a stunning cottage in a beautiful location.

We didn't want to leave. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. It has the most amazing views and we thoroughly enjoyed walking down to the beach and stone skimming; a little further to Toberonochy, charming; and fishing off Cuan rocks. 10 out of 10 from us.

Fantastic property - we had such a great holiday.

This house is really lovely and in an amazing location. Garden wall a little low in places (we have an escapologist lurcher with a strong prey drive) and wifi a bit slow at times but nothing that would stop us coming back. The area is amazing with beautiful walks to be done from the front door - we saw white-tailed and golden eagles. The house is clean, comfy and well equipped. We bought some new kitchen cloths and a washing up brush, but other than that we had everything we needed. Very generous selection of fruit provided on arrival which was greatly appreciated. Didn't want to leave at the end of our week!

Beautiful lodge house positioned between a working farm and the owners bungalow.

Stunning remote setting with outstanding views in all directions. House was just fantastic and such a great place to return to after a day trip or just a great place to spend the day. We will miss it and will be back.

The hosts were very helpful and informative.

The facilities in the cottage were excellent and the views over the loch to Scarba and Mull were magnificent. Lots of bird life including sea eagles and golden eagles as well as deer and otters. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and hope to be back.

It is a fabulous house with a stunning view!

It does need some serious TLC though. The kitchen was quite filthy when we arrived. We cleaned it ourselves, but couldn’t get rid of the smell in the fridge or the grease in and on the hob. There’s black mould by the sink and the description says there’s a laundry machine, but I wouldn’t recommend using it. That was nowhere near clean on the inside. The toilet seats are beyond cleaning and simply need to be replaced, they are a health hazard. The mattress covers need to be washed and/or replaced. It seems in the lounge the furniture is not being moved to clean underneath. If maintenance and cleaning are taken care of the house provides the most wonderful holiday ever!

The property is exactly as advertised.

The views, the peace, and the walks by the coast were excellent. The local shell fish are second to none! We loved it here and had a really relaxing time. We would happily book again and recommend it to anyone who loves the sea and countryside.

The property is just truly amazing and in an amazingly serene, peaceful and reflective location.

You truly feel like you are the only ones in the area. I cannot recommend this house enough. Just fabulous.

A beautifully appointed holiday home with stunning views.

The house was warm, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable.

We absolutely loved this cottage!

The views were so good that we were quite reluctant to go out and about! It was nice watching the boats sailing by, the changing sky , sea and weather and we had some beautiful moonlit nights while we were there. We also saw a few brown hares lolloping about. The house was extremely comfortable (I would like to know what the pillows were for our own holiday rental property in the south of France!)and it was really well equipped. So peaceful and quiet (occasional mooing) Bit random but I loved the dry stone walls on the property and also the hydrangeas. We enjoyed the Atlantic centre in Cullipool for lunch/ cakes/ coffee and on our last day had a lovely two hour boat trip from Oban (Oban sea tours) during which we saw some seals and were treated to a view of two sea eagles perched on trees on the coast of Mull. One day we also visited Dunstaffnage castle which boasted fabulous views and then had some wonderful fish and chips in Oban sat watching the ferries and boats.(recommend the 'Oban fish and chip shop') All in all ten out of ten. The holiday property was lovely and comfortable and was well equipped.

The island is very peaceful and there are lots of local walks to do to explore. The weather during our stay was perfect. Worth noting that the Atlantic Islands Centre was only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during our stay- some advertising said it was open on Thursdays too, some said all week. We, unfortunately did not get a chance to visit the centre. We had a very interesting and adventurous boat trip from Seil explaining about the history of the islands, birds, wild life and the tides including the Corryvreckan Whirlpool. The ferry to the island runs regularly but in the evenings there can be a long wait between sailings if you miss the crossings! There is alot to do round Oban but it can be a bit of a trek. We enjoyed going to some highland games and visiting Kerrera.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ardlarach Lodge.

Very well provisioned and we loved the fruit bowl on arrival - thanks. It’s a beautiful property and the view is simply one to take your breath away. Nice to see the birds flirting around - lots of swallows grabbing insects on the wing. Also watching out for brown hares. With typical mixed weather in Scotland, the views just meant it’s fun to watch all season in one day… we spent much time enjoying the lodge or exploring the island on foot. Our dog loved the bays at Toberonochy and Ardinamir. Food at the Atlantic in Cullipool is excellent. Finally, sunset from Blackmill Bay or the ridge south of Cullipool is lovely. We only left the island once in the week we were there. A great place to be at one with the island and get to know it. An Cala on the isle of Seil is well worth a visit. Many thanks Chris.

We adored the house and are planning to replicate it when building our own home in Scotland so please take that a giant compliment! I first visited Luing over 20 years ago and it was great to be back and to realise how beautiful the island is all over again. We had a great time on our much needed break and it was lovely to meet you both, we will be back - soon!

Just a quick note to say we really enjoyed our stay and that we have already recommended Ardlarach to several friends.

Ardlarach Lodge is a holiday home that has it all.

A very friendly welcome, lots of space, stunning views, comfy beds and a really relaxing atmosphere. We stayed for a week and wanted for nothing - the kitchen is so well equipped that we had no trouble preparing the lobster that we bought from the local pier. There is a lovely coastal walk on the doorstep and the garden was large enough for croquet. (Equipment provided!) The large porch is a lovely place to sit for a coffee and we even watched a pod of dolphins playing in the bay from there. The location is idyllic - plenty of exploring to do and we enjoyed meals out at the Atlantic Centre close by in Cullipool and at The Oyster Bar in nearby Easdale. We would definitely return to this smashing spot.

Myself and my extended family had an amazing, relaxing time at Ardlarach Lodge for a week (March 2015).

Even though the weather wasn't great it was a treat to be in a location so beautiful and in a house that we all loved. Ardlarach Lodge has everything you would need for a luxury self catering break. The little touches are what make it so special, not to mention the generous and friendly hosts Tooti and Shane. Their two dogs Mollie and Tasha are also a brilliant company if you need some canine companions. The furnishings and paintings in the house are simply beautiful, comfy beds, crisp linen and a well kitted out kitchen. The Isle of Luing is like stepping back to a time where life is about simplicity and just appreciating what nature has created. The island is a special place that I can only describe as a piece of heaven.

We stayed with our daughter and two friends for a week.

The house was spacious, clean, warm, comfortable and a delight to stay in. The setting is idyllic with panoramic views over Black Mill Bay and the sound to the islands of Scarba and Lunga with Jura in the distance. The house really is a home from home and as well as, or better, equipped than most family homes, we did not want for anything or feel that anything was lacking. Thoughtfully, there was a bowl of fruit, plus milk and tea waiting for us on arrival. Tooti made us very welcome and has given the house a very special feeling, even putting binoculars in the sun room to help enjoy the views and wildlife. The area is quiet and walker-friendly, the roads are good and easy to take a wheelchair or pushchair along. The hills are of moderate height and easy to navigate away from the tracks to enjoy the views to the west and to catch the sunset over the sea and small islands in the direction of Mull. Wild flowers, orchids and cotton grass abound on the slopes overlooking the sea. We saw an otter in Black Mill Bay near the old jetty, seals near Cullipool, deer and a fox about a mile north of Ardlarach Lodge. Luing cattle and sheep roam the area giving it a special feel. A boat trip down the sound and around Lunga with Alistair from Cullipool was particularly enjoyable. We only left the island twice in the week, just walking around and enjoying the peace, looking at the flowers and wildlife, taking pictures and coming back to the comfortable house. Bliss!
