Balvicar Beag

Balvicar Baeg was far more comfortable than I was expecting.

The pull down bed is soft but firm and really supportive; I thought it would be hassle putting it away and pulling it down every day, but its really easy and works well. The wifi works well. The shower has a decent pressure. And the accomodation has proper sized mugs (not tiny cups that some places provide). I thought we would struggle for space, but once we started making full use of the cupboards it was fine. The views are lovely and we were entertained by frolicking lambs and baby rabbits. Will happily come back here if we are in the area again.

The most fabulous place.

Surrounded by wildlife: saw an eagle and otters from the pod window, plus many other birds and wildlife. Skylarks singing all day, Snipe drumming at night, rabbits everywhere and sheep with lambs. The pod is very comfortable and well equipped, seemed to have every single thing I could want. It's small but perfectly formed! Typical Scottish weather, very mixed but even in a storm the pod was warm and cosy and the views spectacular. The island is gorgeous, I could walk everywhere ( with wellies) only used car once after I got there. Fascinating hazelwood nature reserve full of spring flowers. Boat trip and visit to next island Luing are musts.Two nice pubs on the island and shop just 1 mile from pod. I will be going back!

Was just too small for comfort.

The pillows and bed not comfortable as you feel every spring when lying down. Views are spectacular however as we had wall to wall rain there is nowhere to dry wet clothes and shoes. Nota lot of storage space for clothes so constantly stepping over bags etc. The host kindly left some home made bread and that was delicious and appreciated. Arrival and entry time in winter months could be earlier than 4 as it’s getting darker and not the easiest place to find. We did enjoy our break and would possibly have been better had we been able to use the outside space for coffee in the morning as the location is beautiful but three days of poor weather prohibited this. Probably a summer holiday location where drying out not a problem

This is our 2nd time stopping in this wonderful pod .

This time around was extra special because my partner proposed here . We didn't have the best of weather but we love it here so it didn't matter . There is so much to see and the view out the pod window is outstanding.

It was a beautiful time for me and gave me exactly what I needed.

I was on my own but felt utterly safe. The scenery around is magnificent and so peaceful. The owners was so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this place. Thank you

It was a lovely cosy place to stay.

We appreciated the loaf of bread the owner had baked and fresh roses on our dining table. The views were amazing. A great place to watch wildlife. Very peaceful. Not far from Oban. Two good places to eat nearby. Very close to the local shop. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean.

Stunning views, beautiful wildlife and a cozy cabin to wait out a storm.

The milk, butter and homemade bread on arrival was greatly appreciated, I love the fact there’s no noise pollution (I didn’t hear a single car or plane my entire stay) and Seil is a wonderful place to explore.

Property was so comfortable with stunning views.

We had everything you could need and more in the accommodation thanks again for home made bread milk and butter lovely touches. Weather not great for 3 days but didn't spoil anything it was nice sitting in comfort looking out to the rain chucking it down. Lovely shower and comfy bed great having full size fridge with freezer compartment. We had great holiday thanks.

Absolutely perfect place.

Perfect location, quiet, beautiful, and the place has everything you need. Don't be put off by the pull down bed, it was really comfortable! The island shop is a short walk, quicker if you cut across the golf course and fairly well stocked. Thank you.

Het was een bijzondere plek, een goede ontvangst en een klein, maar geriefelijk huisje.

I loved everything about this lovely tiny house.

It is very remote, you will not see anyone except sheep, bunnies and birds (and the owners sometimes). The view is beautiful, everything is so relaxing and calm. It is however very tiny - so two people with two bigger suitcases are gonna be a challenge…

Ver weg van de wereld staat dit juweeltje.

De laatste kilometer over een smal, hobbelig land weggetje naar de boerderij. Piepklein maar verrassend compleet en zelfs een heerlijk bed. Brood, boter, melk en bloemen bij aankomst. Warm welkom! Zeehonden en een arend gezien vanaf het terras( dank voor de verrekijker!) en natuurljjk de capriolen van de lammetjes en de konijntjes:) Top plek! Ps internet is er soms wel, soms niet

Très bon séjour chez Flo dans cette cabane certes petite mais très bien équipée et très fonctionnelle dans un cadre exceptionnel!

Balvicar Beag had everything that we needed, the location for walking and site seeing.

The property was in a stunning location and we loved waking to them fantastic views, the home made bread was very nice that Flo had made. The property had everything you needed for comfortable stay and all we heard all week were the new born lambs around the farm, highly recommend this property for a chilled and relaxing break.

A lovely, cosy, wee cabin with a great view.

It has everything you need - Flo even left delicious homemade bread for me and there were fresh flowers in a vase. It is on a farm so take boots and drive carefully on the last few hundred yards as it’s a bumpy farm track.

Cabin was spotlessly clean and well maintained.

It has everything you need for a short stay. Location is very beautiful and peaceful with great views of Seil Sound. Both of the owners are very friendly and helpful. It is on a working farm so be prepared to get muddy boots during the winter. Ideal for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.

Very happy with our stay in this little cabin.

Only note is that the fold away bed is rather stiff and my girlfriend, being 5'4, found she didn't have the leverage to pull it down.

What can I say.

An absolutely stunning setting over looking for the loch to the mainland. An abundance of wildlife out your window. It's even beautiful in the rain. The pod has everything you need all the home from home comforts and the host is amazing. Will certainly be looking to come back in the future.

Most amazing views across the bay, and wildlife to watch. Peaceful. Beautiful area, can thoroughly recommend . Hosts excellent too!

Me and my Boyfriend had a lovely holiday in this beautiful pod .

The views from the pod was absolutely amazing. It was well worth the 8 hour journey from the Nottingham. Some of the scenery is out this world. We loved the pod and scotland that much. We have booked for next year .

The place was very clean and perfect for our stay for 5 nights. The seanery was beautiful and we loved to wake up and sit outside for our coffee. Close to oben city centre lots of walks you can do, great shops and great places to eat..

We really enjoyed our stay at Balvicar Beag.

The setting is beautiful and the cabin is well thought out and surprisingly spacious. The bread, milk and butter on arrival was a nice touch. We loved exploring Seil, Easdale and Kerrera on foot and on the water.

Amazing wee cabin with fantastic views, in a historic location close to Clachan Bridge, the only bridge across the Atlantic, and Tigh an Truish Inn where they serve delicious seafood dishes.

The cabin is a perfect retreat for couples who want to relax and be close to nature. There is no signal in the area if you are with O2 but there is WiFi in the cabin although the strength varies, so bear in mind if you wish to do some remote/online work. We used this as a base to explore the nearby towns (Oban is just 20 mins away). Everything you need is in the cabin, we were able to cook when we couldn’t be bothered to eat out. The owner Flo is nice and accommodating, she even left us some homebaked loaf bread, butter and milk. Overall a great holiday for my husband and I and we hope to be back some time in the summer. Highly recommended.

Small but very comfortable room.

Much like a garden room very cleverly designed with everything you'd need, with amazing views to the mainland. Great base for walking and exploring the slate islands. Lovely welcome from host.

Exactly what we wanted in the middle of nowhere, peaceful, views to die for and Flo & Ewan(owners) very nice people and helpful.

What a fantastic little cabin on the shores of the Atlantic.

I was greeted by Flo, the owner, who took me down and explained where everything was and left me to it. She'd left milk, butter and a freshly baked loaf of bread along with tea and coffee. The cabin was clean, comfy and very cosy when the weather turned. The shoreline is a two minute walk, good for exploring or just sitting and watching the geese. The view from the decking is gorgeous, enjoyed either with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. You're 20 minutes drive back to Oban with all it hustle and bustle. Ganavan sands is a lovely beach with walks up to viewing points. From Oban, Fort William is just over an hour away, either via the coastal road or the mighty Glen Coe. A trip to Easdale is worth it. Tons to do if you wish or simple enjoy the peace of this little slice of heaven. As a solo traveller, I felt very safe and slept well. There's even wood to have a little fire and enjoy the stars. A warm welcome, a cosy retreat and peace and quiet, what more could you ask.

We had a lovely time not only either the cabin, but the area as well.

we were made very comfort,everything we needed including smart TV and wi fi. The cabin is small but has everything thought of and you do need a car.We have holiday a lot in Scotland specifically in that area and still found two new places to enjoy.The owners were lovely and the cutest dog, yes,definite place to stay.

What a most beautiful setting for our stay here in Balvicar Beag.

A warm welcome from our hosts and a warm home cooked loaf on arrival at the perfectly compact accommodation. Stunning views across the Sea Loch whilst being entertained by some wonderful wildlife including Hen Harriers, Herons, Buzzards and Cormorants galore, Rabbits in abundance Red Squirrel, and a resident wee weasel. We only used our car twice preferring to walk around the area and island hop using the super little ferry boats. Ten out of ten for everything including the weather.

Lovely pod on the back of a farm with a stunning view over the Firth of Loin.

Small but everything you need for a quiet and peaceful retreat. Flo welcomes you with some homemade bread which tasted amazing. Farmdog Jay will try any opportunity he gets to play with you by presenting his stick to throw, which is most amusing. Love to come back.

The pod was very comfortable and provided the most beautiful views.

It had everything we could need on our holiday, even including a fire pit which made the nights even more special. Aside from it being a lovely place, the owner welcomed us very kindly and made sure our stay was one we'll never forget. I would sincerely recommend the palce to anyone who want to get away from the crowds and noise of the city.

Wonderful week with the most incredible views!

My husband & I enjoyed the most peaceful week at Balvicar Beag, it was well kitted out with everything we needed there was even hangers in a cupboard which was very handy. The owners were on hand should we have needed anything but left us to enjoy the tranquil setting. The weather was a bit hit or miss but we still enjoyed sitting out on the decking area with some strawberries & cream with a glass of wine from the local shop. The fire pit was a big hit with my husband we sat out for hours one night as the sun went down & the stars came out. Enjoyed the little ferry ride over to Easdale island which is a must see! We spent a day going over to Mull on the ferry from Oban and also had some relaxing days with walks down to the waters edge. Also highly recommend lunch or dinner at the Oyster Bar the fish & Chips was amazing! All in all we would definitely recommend this little slice of heaven to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat. Only suggestion I would make is perhaps a small storage box outside the pod for leaving muddy boots so people aren’t having to bring them inside. Thank you Flo for a wonderful week!

I booked this on the off chance that we might enjoy a quiet peaceful weeks break, in a chalet for two.

It was fantastic, the accomodation was spotless, equipped with everything we needed, located on a peaceful quiet area of a farm, with veiws to take your breath away. Living in the city and finding Balvicar Beag, was nothing short of fantastic. The road through the farm is a bit rough, but the location is well worth it. Perfect for one or two people.

Balvicar Beag is the perfect place to relax and forget your worries.

Scenery is stunning no matter what direction you look. The pod is well equipped and a lovely place to stay even in the rain. Thank you for a wonderful stay we will be back.
