The Old Hen Shed

What a lovely place to stay.

We were welcomed by Helen on our arrival who couldn't do enough for us. The accommodation is the cleanest we have ever stayed in not a trace of dust or dirt anywhere. The welcome pack was so generous and we loved the addition of the fresh eggs. We loved seeing the animals especially the peacocks who shared the lid of our hot tub most days. Thanks to you all for a fab stay and we will be back on our next visit to Yorkshire. Kind regards Lynn & Tony

A great stay in a wonderful location.

The farm animals were fascinating to watch. The hosts are there if you need anything. The air sourced heating was really effective, we found ourselves turning the heating down. We would definitely return.

What a quirky place. Great idea from the owners. Were made to feel really welcome on arrival and nothing was too much trouble for Helen, Stuart and Jo. Really clean and cosy place with plenty of cooking implements which was perfect for a Sunday dinner for 6 and 2 pups!!! Wanted to book new year's eve but no room at the inn unfortunately. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended. 5 star

Lovely property,spotless clean and warm .

I thought the single beds are only suitable for children which may be worth mentioning in the details. Enjoyed our time there.

We had a fab few days at the old hen shed on a tour of the UK, it was warm, cosy and comfortable, we were welcomed on arrival by Helen we had welcome pack of milk, fresh eggs and plenty supply of tea coffees and biscuits.

The property is like a Tardis!

Three bedrooms - 2 with an ensuite and another bathroom for the other one! Lovely space for living with a big kitchen and eating area as well as two sofas and a chair in the lounge area. The property is very clean with lovely fluffy towels and comfy beds. Showers work brilliantly. Milk, eggs, tea, coffee and cookies were a lovely addition - along with washing up liquid etc. The hot tub was great (although could do with a new lid as the inside has rotted). We didn't meet the owners during our stay, which was a shame, but we did meet one of the farm workers who showed us round the farm to meet all the animals. She was lovely - thank you. Good communication from the start. Someone also came and cleaned the little front yard and top of the hot tub as the peacocks liked to visit! The only things I would say need doing is the flooring needs relaying (big gaps all the way through) and the red leather couches do need recovering or replacing as they are badly cracked. Skirting boards could do with a lick of paint too. But we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the area. It was very peaceful too!

An amazing place to stay!

Whether to explore surrounding areas or just be at home with the animals. Lovely accommodation on a perfect site.

We loved having our own bathrooms which had good showers.

There was comfortable lounge seating. Everywhere was clean and the hot tub was well maintained. It was a good location for travelling to the usual tourist spots and set in the countryside with lovely walks on the doorstep.

We enjoyed our stay we were all made welcomed and hot tub was good and the weather was brilliant hope to be back for another stay

We stayed in June at the old hen shed the shed was excellent very clean the hot tub was excellent the grandkids loved it Helen/Stuart/Jo were absolutely brilliant I even got to name a alpaca for my birthday would recommend the stay to anyone

The Old Hen Shed was a great place to stay.

We had a fabulous stay here.

The host was so friendly and there to help with anything. There was 4 of us, me, my husband and our 2 kids aged 17. Was lovely having 3 bathrooms lol. The place was so lovely and clean, had everything you need. The hot tub was fantastic and so warm. We loved meeting the animals. Alpacas, goats, peacocks, Shetland pony. Donkeys, and the fresh hen eggs we received were fabulous. Can't fault anything. We woukd definitely recommend and definitely be back. Very close drive to Haworth which was such a beautiful place to visit. We went for lovely walks aswell. Thank you for a fabulous time and we have lovely memories xx

We had such a lovely relaxing stay at the old hen shed over Christmas.

The Hun shed had everything we needed and was super clean and comfortable. Jo and Stu left some lovely biscuits and welcoming treats which was a lovely surprise. They were so helpful and informative. The animals were lovely and our children Loved learning about them and Jo letting them feed the Alpacas, especially the cheeky and very funny Ronnie. The hot tub was a real treat and we really enjoyed using it each evening, The site itself is lovely and so peaceful, also in easy reach of walks and shops and pubs. Prior to our arrival I had called Stu who was happy to tell me about local events and nice pubs so I could plan our trip and book tickets etc which was really helpful and greatly appreciated. We will certainly be booking again in the future and have been telling our friends and colleagues about the old hen shed too. Thankyou for a lovely holiday and all the care and attention throughout from such lovely hosts.

It was spotless, everything we needed was there,loved the special little touches like decent toilet rolls,cutlery crockery and fresh flowers. It was a pleasant surprise to find tea,coffee,milk for a drink when we arrived, plus a bottle of wine. The host and her helpers were very friendly when showing us the animals and a friendly chicken left us some eggs. Being 5ft 2inches,I find the big sofas , too big for me to sit comfortable but that's just me and my only gripe.

Hugely recommend this place!

It was a party of 5, and we were all super comfortable (I want to know where the bedding is from, as slept through like a baby!) and it was so peaceful to wake up and have a coffee listening to the animals, especially spotting a peacock in your garden on the hot tub ha. The hosts, Helen, Stu and Jo, were so lovely and accommodating! We’re definitely going to book again, maybe when it isn’t as cold this time.

What a lovely place to stay.

We booked 3 nights and didn't want to leave. We had a tour of the farm and got to meet all the animals (twice). Stuart, Helen, Jo & Lola were really friendly. We will definitely be back (even though we are very local).

Just back from a great stay at the old hen shed.

The cabin was lovely, spacious and clean. Helen, Jo and Stuart were lovely, friendly hosts. Happy to answer any questions and the tour of the animals was great getting to meet all the animals up close. They had a large secure area for the dog to go to the toilet and it was lovely seeing the alpacas at the fence and they were so friendly. The cabin is close to everywhere, but at the same time it is rural enough to make you feel you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by wildlife. It is very quiet except for nature sounds, especially the peacocks,but they were noisier due to it being mating season. Its lovely sitting in the garden watching the peacocks, chickens,cats etc just walking past. Lots to do and see. Would defo come back again. Thanks for a lovely stay. Xx

Loved the Hen Shed,farm animals and hot tub were a big hit .

Accommodation well equipped and very comfortable.We had a great time and hope to go back.

Our first time here, also first time on a farm.

Our adult girls with learning disabilities loved all the animals, becoming very attached to "kitten" the cat. They also loved the hot tub. The facilities were first class and we hope to come back soon. The girls said for 2 weeks!!!. Even the weather was pretty good apart from a brisk wind. The hosts were very good and on hand if anything needed sorting out, not that anything went wrong. A great holiday.

Lovely property on a small holding.

Stuart made us feel very welcome. The house was warm and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed watching and interacting with the many animals, including bottle feeding a baby alpaca! The hot tub was a perfect place to relax with a glass of Prosecco.

Fantastic little gem of a place.

Second time staying on this farm. Staff very helpful. The place is immaculate and very well set up. Love the animals nearby and staff even brought an alpaca to our garden area. Very helpful with the snow and getting stuck to allow us to get home! Already rebooked for next year !!

Friendly welcome on arrival, lovely property,comfy, warm, had mostly everything we needed(maybe extra cereal bowls and egg cups as we were a little short for the four of us, and maybe a mop for any muddy feet) .

Enjoyed the hot tub,the animals and loved the location. Would definetley reccommend.

I stayed here with my sister, brother in law and girlfriend and it was a comfortable experience and very relaxing.

I recommend anyone who wants to go away and enjoy doing nothing and enjoy the quiet night away.

We had an amazing time , beautiful countryside, brilliant hosts and a wonderful time spent with all the animals on the farm. The hot tub was also a treat too. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this for a restful, relaxing and fun retreat xxx

Unfortunately the hot tub was not working and because of the severe weather conditions it was not able to be repaired however we were able to use another one and the hosts did their very best to make up for it.

The hosts were amazing and went out of their way to help when we were unable to get out and about because of the snow. Stu drive us and collected us from Haworth in his 4x4. The hen shed was toastie warm and very comfortable.

Fantastic Christmas spent here, great accommodation with everything we needed.

Lovely welcome pack when we got there and everything was beautifully clean. Only 1 issue (electrics tripping) which arose during our stay and was resolved within half an hour. Will be back for another visit.

A lovely stay in a nice place

Had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Couldn’t fault anything, spotlessly clean and Jo & Stu we’re very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Cons Difficult access via a long, bumpy dusty road full of deep potholes and not very many passing places.

Had to reverse numerous times along the deep pot hole access road. Hard to see around sharp corner to exit onto main road. Hot Tub bubble setting tripped all electricity in property owner on day 3 owner promised to sort with electrician following day but heard nothing so could not use hot tub for remainder of stay, although electricity restored quickly. No storage at all in double bedrooms just coat hooks on wall. Door hit the bed in one of the rooms so limited space. Access to 3 of 4 storage drawers under beds in twin room which was only storage for clothes for whole property. Twin room has no mirror and only tiny mirror in hallway v difficult for adults using twin room to get ready when plug socket required for hair dryer / straighteners. Very noisy Cockerell, geese and peacocks from 4am. Kids in play area in front of property and sweeping outside bedroom windows from very early..not very restful. Fridge too small to store food/ drinks/milk for 6 adults for a weeks stay. Pros Very close to Howarth and surrounding area for exploring. 3 bathrooms 2 with walk in showers Fans provided in all rooms Everything provided for stay..tea towels, cloths, dishwasher tablets, foil and well stocked kitchen, although not 6 small juice glasses when property sleeps 6. Enjoyed stay but would not stay again.

Excellent accomodation with really friendly owners , nothing too much trouble .

The animals were an absolute delight , keeping us well entertained . The Alpacas were very friendly , two are due to give birth but sadly didn’t happen during our stay. Would definitely return to this accommodation .

Loved all the animals , and nice that we were allowed to feed them , no bath shower mats , no hand towels , no wardrobes , hot tub not clean.

A super property with welcoming hosts.

Great little cottage in a fab location.

Hosts are super nice, let us feed the animals, on hand to help and very friendly. Kids would love this, particularly the animals.

The only thing I can say negative is the accommodation was too hot and after checking thermastates it’s because they were set at 24 throughout the cottage.

The worst holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.

Rude owners, no storage, broken utensils and toaster, hot tub not working with jets, tablets left in draw from previous occupants and my father with alzeimers was about to taje them, thankfully we stopped him just in time, underwear left in draw from previous occupants, scalded from too hot towel rails, car scratched by animals, no electricity for a few hours without warning on last afternoon where my elderly parents had no means to heat their food. No where to dry wet clothes after hot tub. No bath mats jad to use towels.... we could go on and on. We ate currently waiting for a partial refund as it was not worth over £1k for 6 nights. Absolutely appalling from start to finish.

Nice break away from reality.

The views are stunning and the kids loved the animals and the hot tub.

I couldn’t fault anything about this holiday.

The little converted barn was perfect with everything you could need. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which is a bonus too. My daughter loved all of the animals, especially the baby billy goats. It’s such a peaceful place to be and the hosts are perfect too and will do anything to help you. When you arrive there are a fresh bunch of flowers, tea coffee sugar and milk aswell as a bottle of Prosecco which was nice to enjoy in the hot tub ❤️

We had a lovely week in The Old Hen Shed.

It is very cosy and warm (particularly important on cold windy days!). The hot tub was used everyday and was a real treat. We enjoyed being surrounded by all the animals (Alpacas, peacocks, donkeys, rheas, geese...), even if they did wake us up in the morning! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Lovely property, out of town.

Loved the Christmas decor at that time of year, added that extra touch. We really enjoyed our stay and was perfect for a few days away with the children. Seeing the peacocks in a morning sitting on the hot tub was a highlight for the children

Super family stay with family including 9 year old grandson who loves all animals.

Hen Hut fan with everything you need warm and cosy and cleaned exceptionally well. Jo Stue Helen and Little Lola fab hosts Rory said thanks for playing in the snow with him on boxing day and for explaining about the animals Loved the Alpacas especially Toast who tried to eat his hair the cat donkeys and beautiful peacocks. The Hen Shed was immaculately clean on arrival.

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed, the hut tub was a great extra to have.

There isn’t a lot of space to put your clothes in the bedrooms, a small set of drawers would be good. Having all the animals to see is great, although a little noisy first thing in the morning. Cocktails crowing, donkeys braying and alpaca noise, but it is a farm so it’s to be expected. Can’t complain when you get fresh eggs straight from the chickens. We had a lovely week and the owners are fabulous. It’s very near all shops if you need them but far enough away to be away from it all.

We had a wonderful week in spotlessly clean, very well equipped accommodation.

The hosts were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Prior to the visit I rang to ask if they had anything we could use as a shower stool for one of our party. They bought one! Other nice touches included Prosecco in the fridge( drunk of course in the hot tub) tea,coffee, biscuits and fresh farm eggs. There are a range of animals on site which provided us with hours of entertainment when we sat on the patio. If you wish to get out and about there’s plenty of places to visit nearby including Haworth,Skipton,Bolton Abbey and Saltaire . I would highly recommend a visit.

Surrounded by countryside, great views and lovely walks. The hot tub was an added bonus and lovely at night. Stu and Jo were great hosts responded to any queries we had quickly and efficiently. We really appreciated Jo showing us around the farm and introduced us to the alpacas- highlight of the trip! Just be aware the path to the lodge is a bit of a dirt track, we struggled to get down in our cars but managed it!

Jo, Stu and all their staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The setting was lovely and peaceful, we loved using the hot tub. There were lots of local walks to take our dogs on. In this Covid climate all our anxiety over cleanliness were reduced as the cottage was spotless, and the welcome book explained the additional measures being taken at this time. The hot tub was checked and chlorine etc added regularly throughout the two weeks we were there. Will definitely be returning next year and recommending to all our friends.

The property was spotless, and had all the facilities you may need.

A well equipt kitchen and bathroom. Jo the owner was fantastic. Our children loved her and cried on our last night because they didn't want to leave. Thank you for a wonderful week away.

Beautiful place to stay, with great views.

Really made to feel welcome.

The only problem we had with our stay at this property was the access road.

Although the hosts upkeep of the road is commendable with the weather and storms as they have been. There is a raised part of the road like a speed bump near the top, which my car grounded out on every time we drove over it. I only hope it didn't cause any damage underneath, which I will be having checked out. The accommodation itself was excellent, and we enjoyed our stay.

Everything about our 2 night trip was absolutely incredible!

The location was so peaceful and helped us escape from our busy lives. The Old Hen Shed was fantastic and completely exceeded our expectations and for the price we couldn’t believe what we got. The farm animals around were an extra treat and the fact there are lovely places to visit for food only a short drive away just made the experience of the trip even better. Ooh and the hot tub! We couldn’t have asked for a better 2 night trip, we wish we could have stayed for so much longer!

Jo was so welcoming and the accommodation is first class. Perfect place to sight-see! Unfortunately we came when the storm arrived, so we spent a lot of time indoors. Still a perfect weekend to relax! Just what I needed- even my grown up kids loved it here. Loved the Hen Shed!

A very windy weekend up in Yorkshire but the welcome from Jo was very warm and welcoming. Cottage just perfect, very clean and well equipped with the hot tub an absolute bonus! Loved all the animals in the farmstead....the runner ducks kept us entertained and had cuddles with at least 3 of the 5 cats! The only suggestion would be a couple more small pans and a better frying pan or even 2. Would highly recommend.

Loved the location, great to access nearby towns, Howarth, Skipton, etc.

The hosts were marvellous, you knew the we on hand if you needed them, however, you were left to your own devices. The Hen Shed was lovely, however, with 4 adults and 2 teenagers (tall) we felt it was quit small. There wasn't anywhere to store clothes or belongings in the bedrooms, no wardrobes, drawers or bedside cabinets. Small stool had a lamp on, but wouldn't have fitted anything else. The walls were quite thin so you could hear everything in the other rooms, therefore unable to use televisions in bedrooms in evening. We felt this was ideal for family with small children that will all have a early night.

The owner and staff where so friendly and helpful.

My elderly mother was with me and she has some problems walking. Stuart the owner made sure my mum saw all the animals and even feed them. Fantastic veiws ,hot tubs brill.

Fabulous holiday home situated up high on a gorgeous quaint small holding filled with animals from all over the world.

Stayed at hen shed for 2 nights in June.

Is straight opposite the fields where the animals are. Joe very kindly came after tea to let us feed them and pet them, including donkeys, pakas, emu's. Place is immaculate and furnished to high spec. Wonderful view and train station not far away although is steep walk but taxi was only 5 pounds, hence had great afternoon in skipton. Had very relaxing time so thank you again Joe for your kindness. Will definitely go back.

Cottage was lovely, ideal location, and the little things like toiletries, toilet paper, milk, Prosecco and eggs really made the stay as didn’t have to worry about anything, bonus having the hot tub surrounded by beautiful scenery and lots of animals

We had a fantastic time at The Old Hen Shed.

The accommodation was spacious, lots of room for our party of 2 adults, 16, 14, 8 year old sons and our small dog. We loved the hot tub and used it most days. We had a tour to see and feed the alpacas, emus, goats and donkeys. We all loved our stay here and will definitely return.

Ideal for families and pets , there is a Field across from the farm , available to book in exercising your dog/s .

This is exclusive to you for the time you booked . I wish I had known at the time of booking as I would of booked ahead. Possible utilising more time slots . More information on what's available in the area as well as the practical , for example: doctors , vets , pharmacy etc would be useful if I had to not pick . However I would definitely recommend , there is a peaceful ambience and and array of beautiful animals such as peacocks , lama's, Joey ( from the kangaroo family) on the farm with a feeling the owner's are only to willing to help if anything is needing .

it was slightly disappointing that the hot tub was not ready to use on Friday but everything else was fab!

Gorgeous lodge!

The hot tub was great! Lovely and clean, we had 6 adults and two children and there was more than enough room. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but that didn’t stop us having fun!

We had such a brilliant time at the Old Hen Shed.

The lodge itself is well equipped and beautifully decorated. Prosecco on arrival a lovely touch. The hot tub is so relaxing and even though its at the front of the lodge, it felt really private. We are hoping to visit again next year.

What a fantastic place.

Owners were so welcoming and lovely, they live close by but it feels so private. The whole property was so clean, the Prosecco, milk, tea, coffee, sugar and flowers were a lovely touch. My niece and her friend who are 11 were invited to go feed the animals which they absolutely loved. We went into Haworth on the steam train from Keighley which was lovely, even the up hill walk into Haworth wasn't too bad once we was up at the top :-) We will definitely be back for a stay and have recommended you to our friends.

I do not have a bad word to say about the old hen shed.

Me my partner and our friends stayed here to celebrate my 21st and I couldn’t of chose any where better to stay. The place is spotless and looks brand new. It is very modern with heated flooring 3 bathrooms 3 bedrooms and a gorgeous kitchen and sitting room area. The hot tub is also amazing big enough to fit 6 people. The owners let you get on with your holiday but are always around if you need them. Overall had an amazing stay here and will definitely be back.

Jo and Stuart are really nice people, they make your stay very comfortable and welcoming. There are plenty of animals on site e.g.: alpacas peacocks, chickens, geese, ducks, wallabies, which you can help feed. Had an amazing few days away.

Hen shed is homely, warm and relaxing. with lots of space for all 7 of us. Was wonderful to wake up to see and hear all the animals kids loved getting close and been able to feed the animals. The hot tub was amazing

Alpacas, donkeys, geese and wallabies next to your cottage, what’s not to like?

Full on relaxation as soon as we arrived greater with such kindness.

Quick run through on how every thing works ect. A group of six of us visited for long weekend to celebrate 31st birthday. Chilling in hot tub was the best and we had music on ect but very sound proof so no problem. Great having all the different animals around and such beautiful views and a trip in to Haworth is well worth it.

. Upon arrival we were given a bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. We got straight in the hot tub and relaxed. The cabin is surrounded by the most beautiful creatures. Peacocks, Alpacas, Goats, Hens, Geese. All of which know there limits and do not try to come into the cabin/hot tub areas.If you take a pet with you they have a dedicated paddock area where they can go do there business, but have to be kept on their lead. There is a forest which is a 5 minute walk away where they can run free. Out cabin (the old hen shed) was sound proofed, so when we were inside making noise or is neighbours were having a party then there was nothing to be heard from inside or out. Cabin was very clean, beds were extremely comfy and we couldn't wish for anything more than what they provided... we even got complimentary fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning.. I got back yesterday and i am already looking to go back for new year! I will recommend this cottage to anyone that asks!

Accommodation was spotless and the little extras made a huge difference. Owners where so friendly and welcoming we will definitely return.

The owners were very good and welcoming.

Enjoyed seeing their different and well looked after animals. There is no washing machine in the cottage would be great to have it especially for those of us who like to stay for a week or more. Overall it’s a very relaxing cottage however WiFi is not strong enough.

We loved the animals and the hot tub.

Lovely property, only slight problem when it snowed and the owners had to get some salt to enable people to exit the location.

Not their fault it snowed, road from the property to the main road is very steep and not in the best conditions so driving in now was quite tricky

Amazing place.

Owners were fantastic and our young son really enjoyed meeting so many different animals. Lodge was brilliant for a family, little extras made a big difference. Would recommend this lodge to any animal lovers or people looking for a home away from home to relax in comfort.
