This is about the 7th time we have stayed here and Victoria, Olivia and Dereck make you feel so welcome and the cottage is lovely, theres everything you need in the cottage.

The cottage was superb, well maintained, and ideally located for main attractions in Northern Yorkshire.

The hosts were extremely helpful and caring to help with all aspects of our stay at their holiday cottage. We would recommend staying at this holiday cottage to all.

The accommodation is absolutely lovely and cosy, every detail well considered - there was nothing missing, we cannot fault our stay. Instructions to the property clear and great location to Ripon, Fountains Abbey and Harrogate however on a beautiful sunny day that we were lucky to have you can’t find a more perfect spot for sitting in the courtyard in the peace and quiet. We met Louisa’s parents who were absolutely lovely and gave us some great recommendations for pubs in Ripon (and fruit cake although we should have eaten more of it!) Would 100% stay again in the future. Thank you for having us

The cottage is finished to a very standard inside and out, and a lot of thought has been given to all we needed to make our stay a comfortable one.

The private courtyard with its colourful planting is a great place to relax in. The location is superb and ideal for reaching all the places on our wish list. (For Victoria only - only downside was the bathroom towel rail which has been disconnected. The towels never dried out properly despite using the airer.)

Property is very well prepared. Lovely old farmhouse complex with the benefit of modern renovations. Very comfortable and well located for surrounding attractions. The owners were warm and friendly and the cake on arrival was delicious. The courtyard garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. We hope to return soon.

Just back from a week stay in this lovely cottage, The cottage is clean, and has everything you need for two people.

We were made to feel very welcome Victoria,Derek and Olivia are lovely nothing is too much trouble. A lovely generous welcome pack with a delicious cake and other treats too. The cottage is ideally located a short drive to Harrogate, Ripon and Fountains abbey which we would recommend for a day out. We will definitely be going back.

Set in beautiful surroundings, the cottage was perfect (our 2nd successive year there), well equipped & comfortable with every amenity at hand.

An absolute pleasure to stay at this cottage.

Everything we could possibly need and such lovely taste with all amenities and facilities provided. The hosts/owners were a delight. The location was ideal for all the places we wanted to see and visit - Ripon, Harrogate, York, Pateley Bridge and Grassington. The Himalayan Gardens is a must and we returned to Fountains Abbey where we joined the National Trust so many years ago. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

The cottage is located in an immaculately kept barn complex shared with the owner and her parents, quiet and with a sunny complex.

It has been well designed to maximise the space and the owner Victoria has thought of everything, in fact it is the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. Wow what a find.

This is a fabulous little cottage in a lovely setting. It is immaculate both inside and out and has everything you need for a perfect break. Lots of great walks and countryside and of course Harrogate and Ripon are just a short drive. Had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Yorkshire Hussar just 10 minutes walk away. The hosts Victoria and her family are just amazing and nothing is too much trouble. I would give this cottage 11 out of 10 as it is without doubt one of the best we have stayed in.

A rating of 10 really isn't sufficient, this cottage is magnificent, every detail has been thought through, the standard of the furnishings and every aspect of the property is first-class.

The wonderful cake and wine was another very special touch. We hope to return again in the future.

So many beautiful places close by to visit. The cottage is cosy and has everything you could need. Lovely touches of wine, biscuits and milk to greet us. Useful folder of local information. Owner lives on premises, so if we had encountered a problem (which we didn’t) it would have been easy to get a resolution. Very friendly family - would recommend this holiday thoroughly!

A well furnished property tastefully set out to a high standard.

Very friendly reception by the owners on site. The lighting level within the property was rather low but could be improved by the use of cool or daylight led's. Well suited for for walking and outdoor activities.

The property was lovely with a great outdoor space in the courtyard for evening drinks!

Very well equipped and the owners were friendly and helpful. The only downside is it's a Friday to Friday let, and we find travelling much busier than a Saturday. Otherwise it was brilliant!!

This is a superb cottage, certainly the best equipped we have ever experienced.

It is part of fairly recently converted barns and we were very impressed with the quality of the build. We wished for nothing and the owner and family were really pleasant and helpful. If returning to Yorkshire (and we hope we will) we would certainly try to book this cottage.

Though this is a smaller cottage than we usually book, everything we needed and more, was thoughtfully provided by the owner.

We received a warm welcome and would happily return to the property which was well situated for visiting the Dales and historic buildings.

No shortage of footpaths and bridle paths to explore.

This cottage is perfect for couples & ideally situated for visiting Fountains Abbey, Harlow Carr Gardens, Ripon & Harrogate.

But what makes it special is the delightful secluded courtyard garden, the perfect place to relax after a day out. Victoria provides excellent detailed information about local eateries, walks & local places of interest. We highly recommend ‘The Malt Shovel’ at Brearton! Would we stay here again…….yes!

An absolutely super holiday let.

What I liked were the little extras such as a variety of sized containers for use in the kitchen, the universal charger and the extra gifts which were all appreciated. There were of ways that our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.

We loved the cottage as it had everything we wanted and was beautifully kept.

It was nice and cosy just enough for two people. Our hosts were very helpful and we had some nice extra touches on arrival with chocolates and a bottle of cava. Everything worked well and we loved the walk-in shower. It was well equipped with everything you would need. In a lovely quiet area but still quite central for getting to places like Ripon, Harrogate and York plus the Beautiful Dales. We would certainly have no reservations in staying there again.

Warm and well equipped. Victoria was very welcoming and provided a very useful welcome pack. Even though the weather was dreadful we visited the recommended restaurants (The Inn at Lower Staunton, The Ivy and then Betty’s in Harrogate, The Old Boar Inn at Ripley and The Storehouse Kitchen in Ripon). All provided excellent food.

Wallerthwaite Cottage was very good with every aspect excellent.

Our stay was enhanced by the fact that we had very good weather which enabled us to visit many places of interest.e.g.York; Brimham Rocks;Fountains Abbey;Mother Shiptons cave. We were very disappointed by the fact that we visited Castle Howard only to find that the house and gardens were closed as they were "Filming there' This all brought home to me the fact that one must book if you want to visit these places because the same applied to Yorkminster. To cap it all, whilst my wife walked round the York City walls ,I went to the National Railway Museum only to find it was closed. All in all ,you would think this all a disaster but 'no, it was disappointing but,there were other things to do which more than made up for it Would I go back to Wallerthwaite Cottage, An emphatic "Yes".

We had a wonderful stay in Wallerthwaite Barn Cottage.

Victoria and her parents were so warm, welcoming and friendly! It is the perfect location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales: a fabulous mix of culture and outdoor exploring both on foot and by bicycle (admittedly ebikes were very welcome when tackling the hills!). The cottage is really well equipped; no stone was unturned when it came to kitting it out for guests. The welcome pack was very 'welcoming' indeed. All in all, we can't recommend Wallerthwaite highly enough!

Fabulous location, beautifully equipped lovely outside space to relax in and the welcome goodies were indeed most welcome, particularly the chocolate cake and the wine. Very well located for the places that we wanted to visit, Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Park, RHS Harlow Carr, the Nidderdale Valley etc. Stunning countryside drives in every direction. Great pubs on the doorstep. All in all, we didn't want to leave.

Wallerthwaite Barn Cottage is a real GEM,both interior and exterior are of the highest possible standards and everything,and just about anything,you may need for your stay is provided.Victoria,the owner, and her family were welcoming, friendly, and were more than helpful with any queries either about the accommodation or the surrounding area. Wallerthwaite Barn Cottage is the perfect location for a holiday, relaxed or active, and as a base from which to explore North Yorkshire and the many treasures of Britain that are within easy reach: Ripon, Harrogate, Bettys Tea Shop, Fountains Abbey and of course York.

The cottage is well appointed, comfortable and collocated with the owners superb example of a well-designed barn conversion. Surrounded by farmland and a short walk to the local store and post office, the cottage is just four-miles from the excellent shops, cafes and restaurants of Ripon, and close to a range of excellent pubs and restaurants. Yorkshire at its brilliant best!

Wallerthwaite Cottage was an idyllic accommodation including all that we could wish for in our restful break.

Our host ensured that our 5 star, homely cottage was very well equipped. The location was perfect for us to base ourselves from to visit the delights offered within easy reach of our bolthole. We enjoyed basking in the early evening rays whilst relaxing in the comfortable privacy of our patio seating. Perfect.

The accommodation was small but there was only 2 of us and it was clean and fresh and reasonably comfortable ,lovely bed Unfortunately do to covid the Yorkshire show was called off and many of the attractions were closed.

But we’re going back this year hopefully there’ll be more to do

'A Perfect Getaway' On arrival we were met by Victoria who was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

The place is beautifully presented with a real attention to detail and is situated in a quiet, picturesque location. A 'Welcome Pack' which included eggs, coffee, tea, sugar, milk and a delicious homemade cake was a lovely touch and in the property there was also an information pack of local places to visit and recommended places to eat. The cottage was an ideal base to explore interesting places including Ripon, Harrogate and Fountains Abbey. A great place - thank you!

I am somewhat disabled.

However we were able to visit various locations in North Yorkshire which we had known from previous times. The cottage was very well appointed. Of course the owner could not enter while we were resident but that was not essential. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to any other couple, but without children.

Everything about the cottage was comfortable and so well equipped.

The owners were very friendly and made us welcome. The surrounding courtyard and gardens were beautiful. There was lots of local information of where to go and where to eat in a folder in the cottage. We would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a holiday in this part of Yorkshire

This is a truly wonderful cottage - renovated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard - in a beautiful part of North Yorkshire.

We received a warm welcome from our hosts and were provided with a welcome pack that exceeded the description; the homemade cake in particular was delicious! We really enjoyed our stay and exploration of the local area although, admittedly, it was difficult to leave the comfort of the cottage. Highly recommended!

An excellent cottage in a great location, so handy for Ripon and Harrogate, with lots of wee villages in between and great local pubs too.

We enjoyed very good local walking in the area. There is so much to do and see Our hosts Derek and Olivia were very welcoming and friendly. They gave us loads of local information especially on where to eat out locally, and recommended good walks too. The cottage was very well equipped and also very comfortable. All in all a first class holiday experience.

Wonderful if you want peace and quiet.

The cottage had been refurbished to an extremely high standard, with quality fittings and furnishings and was exceptionally well equipped.

The underfloor heating made it cosy throughout (though it was slow to respond to adjustment up or down). We were treated to a lavish welcome pack that included wine, delicious farm eggs and chocolate cake; and we appreciated being supplied with milk, butter, oil, salt and pepper, teabags and coffee. All this made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay; we would hope to return when we visit the area again.

We were even given a second bottle of wine when the music from a village gathering could be heard at the cottage. A really charming and sociable family. It was a pleasure to meet them. The cottage is well placed between Ripon and Harrogate and there are plenty of interesting places to visit together with the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. This was our first time in a Sykes cottage and we couldn't believe the extent Victoria had gone to make our time there as comfortable as possible. The provisions, such as the towels, tea, coffee, sugar and cleaning materials provided were all top quality and the welcome pack which included wine, scones, jam and butter were a really generous touch. The cottage had everything in it to make it a home from home. So clean and spotless. The location is quiet and peaceful and close to Ripon, Harrogate, Thirsk and the Dales. Fountains Abbey is only a couple of miles away too. We really enjoyed meeting and chatting with you. Well done on having such a beautiful property and home. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to Sykes customers and hope very much to return sometime in the future.

We received a wonderful welcome from Olivia, Derek and Victoria who all did their best to make our stay memorable.

The cottage is in easy reach of many of Yorkshire's attractions and was easy to find thanks to the excellent details provided by Victoria. We were particularly thankful for the welcome basket of goodies especially the home made scones. The cottage was attractive providing everything we needed. We would recommend the cottage highly.

It was great to have detailed sketches & more precise instructions regarding route & parking etc emailed to me prior to departure. Wallerthwaite Barn Cottage had everything that I needed, with a welcome pack which included milk, butter, 6 eggs, coffee, tea, sugar, chocolate chip cookies & some freshly baked fruit scones, similarly the information pack was packed full of leaflets of local attractions & proved very helpful since the weather was not great during my stay. The cottage is ideally situated between Harrogate & Ripon in a lovely area of North Yorkshire with plenty of walks & places of interest close at hand. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage as an excellent place to stay whilst visiting this area of North Yorkshire.

We were met with a very welcome basket of ‘goodies’.

The cottage was very comfortable - the bed and the shower were particularly good - and the surroundings were very peaceful. It was good to be in North Yorkshire again. Peter & Margaret Williams

The owner of the cottage, and her family, were very friendly and welcoming.

The cottage had everything we needed and is in a lovely setting. It was easy to find and the owner also provided further detailed instructions on where to park etc once you had entered the grounds of the cottage. It is located between Harrogate and Ripon and there are lots of interesting places to visit. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

We had a great welcome and the cottage was very warm and comfortable. The area is spectacular and there are loads of places nearby to visit.

It's a hidden gem set in beautiful surroundings mid way between Ripon and Harrogate.

The owner provided a welcome pack, of butter, fresh eggs, home made bread, milk, tea, sugar, coffee and a bottle of wine. The village shop and post office is run by a lovely lady name Linda and the local pub has a very good menu, both are just a short walk away from the cottage. I was extremely lucky to find Wallerthwaite farm cottage as it was new to the market and i was the first guest. I was between houses at the time and needed somewhere to stay for a month. The cottage is a brand new farm building conversion which has been done to the highest standard with quality fixtures and fittings. I can definitely highly recommend this cottage.
