“Overall we had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely consider returning.”
The location is fantastic, with plenty to do in Louth and the surrounding areas, making it a great base for a few days away.
The receptionist was friendly on arrival, although we were unfortunately directed to the wrong lodge. After a long journey this meant we were left wandering around in the dark trying to find the correct accommodation, which was a stressful start to the holiday.

The receptionist was friendly on arrival, although we were unfortunately directed to the wrong lodge. After a long journey this meant we were left wandering around in the dark trying to find the correct accommodation, which was a stressful start to the holiday.
The lodge itself was clean, comfortable and well presented, and the facilities were generally good. However, we were quite surprised to find there was no oven or grill at all. The kitchen only had a two-ring hob and a microwave. We managed, but it wasn't ideal, especially as we'd bought food expecting to have an oven available.
The hot tub was another slight disappointment. We were told it would be available until 11pm, but on several occasions it was switched off around 10:30pm, which was frustrating when we'd planned our evenings around using it.
The biggest issue was the towels. They were provided, which was appreciated, but several had black marks or stains on them. We asked for replacements and staff were happy to provide more, but unfortunately the new towels had the same issue. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect clean towels, and this really wasn't up to the standard I'd expect.
Despite these issues, we still had a lovely break. With a few improvements to the facilities and better attention to housekeeping, this would easily be a five-star stay.
