What guests are saying
Great stay as always nice to have new cushions for the sun chairs and a new cover on the hot tub and that the trees have been trimmed so you can see the lake and fish again The reduction in the welcome pack was disappointing no pint of milk in the fridge and only one bar of soap in the main bathroom nothing in the shower room.
Overall still a great location and very comfortable stay will almost certainly be back again
We loved the accommodation, very nicely set out and in a lovely setting, unfortunately 2 of the 3 beds mattresses were not fit for purpose!
Just could not sleep on them as the insides were sticking into your body no matter which way you lay, so needless to say only one of us got a nights sleep over the 3 night stay. Did complain to who I thought was the manager, I even suggested supplying a topper to make the mattress more comfortable but she looked at me like I was mad and had never heard anything like it, completely ignored my request and any further contact with me about the problem.I was then left to spend 3 nights on a very old uncomfortable leather sofa that had probably seen better days about 20yrs ago as seats were nearly touching the floor, needless to say I never got any sleep through out our stay. Did contact Sykes and although sympathetic also did nothing about it, after several emails and trying to contact them by phone after the holiday was a waste of time as you can’t, only by email, it’s like they wash their hands of you once the holiday is over. The only thing they did do is offer a paltry £50 compensation. Needless to say I will never use or recommend Sykes cottages ever again. Horrendous customer service on both counts.
The place was lovely, quiet and clean.
The hot tub was maintained daily. The kitchen was well kitted out. The only issues were 1) beds very hard, with thin mattresses and thin pillows - not really the luxury advertised. 2) the dishwasher seems faulty as it isn't really performing properly. I note that was mentioned in a previous review.
