What guests are saying
We were very pleased with the actual accommodation, it was comfortable, quiet and clean.
However, we were absolutely astonished at the way the site is being managed. There isnt anyone based in either the Reception, Maintenance or Housekeeping areas. All are permanently locked with a curtain across the door. It was very uninviting and quite frankly unacceptable. The bar and social areas were also permanently closed and apparently have been since February 2026! even though still advertised as open. When we arrived our lodge hadn't been cleaned, the beds were stripped and all laundry from previous guest were in the shower waiting to be collected. We phoned the number on the reception door, no one there. Left a voice message for someone to contact us ASAP. We waited by the reception area and in that time alone 2 other people arrived for their holiday, and equally as horrified that the whole site management and recreational area were permanently closed. Eventually a text came back, quite a short curt message saying HK were busy and we were next! Having said that it was nearly the check in time? Shortly a couple of lovely ladies arrived, all apologetic saying they didn't have 18 Manleigh on their change over list and if we hadn't have contacted the number on reception door, it wouldnt have been cleaned! They came back in from home! Apparently this site is managed by a receptionist based in Cornwall!!! Far from the norm for holiday sites and 100% unacceptable. We felt very, very unhappy and angry about being on a deserted site, with no real 'human' contact based there at all. And the facilities advertised being permanently closed. The lodge's heating wasn't working either, trying to get help with this was a challenge. Message after message was left on the answerphone. The next day a lovely and extremely helpful part time chap came by and rebooted the boiler system as something was wrong with it. Heating was fine after that. He was so informative told us all about the area, places to visit, where everything was and was perfectly wonderdul. So between him and the lovely housekeeping lady whom we spoke to they were very helpful. In our opinion, the site, albeit well placed, clean and tidy, is being massively let down by lack of staff, lack of management, and a complete lack of care and attention being shown to guests.
The Lodge was lovely.
It was very clean and comfortable.
The lodge was lovely, clean and in a peaceful spot at the end of a cul de sac.
We were surrounded by trees, shrubs and bird song. The drive to the lodge was tarmaced although a bit steep. Plenty of places to visit nearby. We had a lovely stay even though the weather could have been kinder. The only thing that could be improved was the double bed which we found sagged into the middle and squeaked every time we moved.
