1 Southern Place

Whilst we really liked the location and design of the cabin, the contents were not as advertised.

There were no sunbeds, only one rusty sun chair which really lowered the standard of appearance. One of the chairs on the top deck was also broken. It was beautiful up there and birds were everywhere! The contents of the kitchen was sparse and it was short of a tumbler and a tea spoon, which whilst it is not essential had obviously not been checked. The toilet flush was temperamental and the soft, plush grey sofa advertised had been replaced by a cold, leather sofa with no cushions. We had an issue with ants in the dining area and kitchen which we sorted ourselves. These were all superficial issues (except sunbeds and chair) but the weather was not great for sunbathing. The one nice day we had I had to sit in the chair to read. We feel this cabin was a bit unloved (it’s for sale!) but would return to a different one another time as the location was great.

Love the location of 1 Southern Place on Southern Halt site, due to privacy, peace and quiet.

Lovely lodge, roof terrace a big bonus. although sun loungers pictured on advert were not there. Could not get TV reception in cinema room for terrestrial TV, although Prime and Rakuten did work, would benefit from a DVD player and DVDs to watch. Dobwalls village, nothing to shout about, heard the local pub not very friendly so did not go so if staying there be prepared to venture further for food etc.Close to Looe and other areas so plenty of choice around. Despite the minor issues, did not detract from another fantastic holiday in Cornwall, we will be back.

Beautiful Lodge with all the luxury.

Very clean and spacious. The spa bath was just divine and the cinema room was a fantastic finishing touch. The only small complaint I would have is the bed needs a new topper for comfort as was a little on the hard side.

The grounds are exceptional hats off to the maintenance team.

It is very peaceful and relaxing. The accommodation was perfectly located for us as being able to take a short drive for walks. Golitha falls has a very good smokehouse/cafe which gets very busy. The only thing I would say is some instructions for the power for the bath as it took a day to find.

Generally we enjoyed the property loved the space, cinema room was really good, bed was comfy, friendly staff.

However there were a few points of improvement required: Glass on balcony areas both downstairs and upstairs were very dirty, covered in green moss. We found a lot of ants in the kitchen area everyday. TV in jacuzzi room wouldnt work properly it was stuck on someone else's netflix and we couldn't scroll through, think it needs replacing. Some of the flooring needs replacing, it was wearing around the edges of some planks. A small part of the floor felt like it was falling through between bathroom and jacuzzi room. Living room carpet needs a deep clean, you could tell from around the sofa it should be a grey colour but was more brown. Roof top balcony we didn't use as it was dirty, a lot of bird droppings all over the handrails and furniture, so didn't feel a very nice place to relax. The single door off the dining space to the balcony was really difficult to open and close so we didn't use it in the end. Sauna took a very long time to heat up so we gave up in the end.

We stayed at 1 southern place for a week, it was gorgeous and so comfortable.

Our 6 month old loved the cinema room with the starlight ceiling. The bed was very comfy, had an amazing night sleep every night, the place came with everything we needed. Jacuzzi was lovely. Only thing i’d say is the high chair is in need of a clean but this didn’t really matter too much to us as we didn’t need to use it. Overall 5 star, had a lovely stay.

We had a fantastic stay here with our dog!

We made great use of the sauna and jacuzzi and the cinema room was a great touch too! The Lodge was nice and spacious, the upstairs decking area was nice and I can imagine it would be lovely in the summer! Reception staff were great both pre and during our stay, ensuring we had everything we needed! We took all of our own food with us and there was plenty if storage for it all and a nice size kitchen to cook in! Just bring seasonings and cooking oil with you as there is none! We usually book private air bnbs, so we didn't give this a thought that a lodge site isn't likely to provide this sort of stuff. The TVs had all of your generic apps that you could log into which was great! Overall we had a fantastic weekend here and our dog most definitely enjoyed himself too!

My partner and I stayed here at 1 Southern Place, and honestly just WOW.

Such a beautiful, well kept and tidy place, easy to find yet perfect balance of privacy too. Everything was squeaky clean and for the price we had paid, we were welcomed with a lot more than we had bargained for. Beautiful location as well, not very far from many different activities and wonderful country walks, would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Not a single complaint here from me. Also reception is very helpful and kind, Sally made sure we were checked in and that there wasn’t a problem with anything at all, so a very warm welcome and peace of mind as to who we could talk to incase of any problems.

The accommodation was beautiful and clean. Loved the cinema room !. Staff welcoming . We will definitely come again .

We had a lovely break at 1 southern Place, lodge was amazing and very cozy, lovely walks for our dog.

Lovely lodge, amazing lay out and beautiful bit upstairs to sit.

Unfortunately the jacuzzi/tub we didn’t use. When we turned it on lots of black flies came out of the hoses. We contacted the reception and they sent someone out to clean it which took several hours, We tried again but still lots of timescale was coming out which seemed very unhygienic - so it was not used which is a disappointment as it was one of the main reasons going to the lodge. It needs a full strip down and clean.

The property was really nice, some wear & tear but nothing of any concern.

It was really clean and very well equipped. We liked the quiet location and overall cleanliness of the site as well.

As ever everything good and reception very good at customer relations.

Accommodation is the best we have ever stayed in.

Very clean, not too close to other lodges so plenty of privacy. The best part of this lodge is the terrace - loved sitting there in the evening with the views. The park is kept very well maintained. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The lodge we stayed in was absolutely amazing & clean.

Lovely property and facilities.

The Sauna and jacuzzi bath are real assets. The Chair in the cinema room has a tear in it which doesn't affect use but needs attention. Would love to visit when the weather is better!

A superb place to stay!

We particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna! The chairs in the cinema room could do with some attention but did not distract from a wonderful stay at this fabulous location!

With regard to the Cinema Room there needs to be an additional double plug to allow a firestick plug, as well as TV and Sound Bar all to be plugged in at the same time.

There needs to be more Mug, plates etc so the dishwasher does not need to be put on daily. NOTE feedback for owner to consider and not for wider publication.

The accommodation is excellent and clean, comfortable and stylish.

The outstanding cinema room and jacuzzi bath/sauna area are brilliant yo have abd why I booked again! Unfortunately I returned to the exact same cottage, not the one I had booked due to a stressful day. I can only add that the customer service department, namely Tracy, was most accommodating and forgave my senior moment. A very relaxing break in a spectacular part of the world. We'll be back, might try the correct cabin next time!

The place was amazing, clean cinema room great , jacuzzi bath excellent, sauna , great, kitchen everything you need , seety could of been bigger lol , but u can not fault this place excellent customer service, even calling up over Christmas period break we was on make in sure everything ok , & it was perfect, I will definitely becoming back in the summer, 5 stars value for money, even had a Christmas tree put up for us , loved it made my Christmas holiday,

Perfect we love it here we've been several times and we will return again next year.

This is our third stay at this lodge and we absolutely love it.

The lodge is perfect. Very cosy and has everything you need. It would be nice to have a slightly bigger sofa in the lounge. Can’t wait to book again next year.

We have been happy with all the lodges we have stayed in at Southern Halt.

This was a different layout from most but had everything required.

I stayed here last week with my dog for my birthday and can say I thoroughly enjoyed the stay!

Despite the storm, we still had some much fun. The property was super clean, comfortable and had everything you could need! I especially loved using the cinema room and roof deck with a coffee in the morning! I will 100% be coming back here. Thank you again for an amazing holiday!

The cottage was great, everything we expected for the price but when we used the spa bath we had to get out within minutes due to gunk/mould/rubbish coming out of the jets.

It was awful. We called the receptionist to inform them and although we were offered another unit we didn’t feel that it was fit for our stay due to the the weather. It was raining and of course the new tub was outside. Also, we didn’t feel that we wanted to pack up and move to another unit for only one night. We were told that they could not do anything about it. We were not offered any compensation or discount. We were told that the manager would make contact after the weekend, now 2/3 days later and still no contact. Very disappointed

This park and lodge was a perfect place to spend a week away.

We loved it so much that we booked a holiday in the same lodge for next year whilst driving home!! I think that speaks for itself!

Absolutely fabulous lodge situated in a lovely spot in the park with its own piece of garden surrounded by hedging.

it had everything we needed for a relaxing stay, the double Jacuzzi bath, sauna and cinema room went down a treat. we would certainly book this lodge again if we ever visit Cornwall again

Lovey comfortable property, with good facilities.

Suggestions for improvement, a parasol for the roof terrace, as it becomes hot in full sun. Also a few more mugs for drinks, so they can be washed once in the dishwasher, instead of hand washing. Overall a very lovely place and we enjoyed our stay.

Our stay at southern place was amazing.

The lodge was exactly what we were looking for. We usually go away somewhere with a spa as we love to relax and unwind in a sauna and hot tub but we recently got a dog and thought this wouldn’t be possible. This lodge had its own sauna and hot tub so we could enjoy our own private spa with the dog nearby.

Lovely accommodation apart from the carpet in the lounge which was dirty and needed a clean.

Lovely property.

Unfortunately as per the reviews we had black debris blowing out of the spa bath jets even after we initially ran it to try to purge it knowing it may have that issue. Really pleasant tranquil setting. Did have a minor issue when the toilet cistern wouldn’t refil but maintenance came and sorted it promptly. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The Lodge was absolutely fabulous.

Everything you could possibly need was there. We had a wonderful week there over Christmas and will always remember how special it was due mostly to the Lodge. We have already looked to book again next year but cannot make up our minds when to book as we cannot wait a whole year to return. Every member of staff were extremely friendly/helpful/professional that we dealt with. The whole experience was A1.

Few small issues jacuzzi bath overflow leaks onto floor and door doesn't shut as floorboards are swollen. Heated floor not working in dining area. Dog poo bin overflowing the whole week. Otherwise very comfortable and warm property.

Most of the property was absolutely lovely, and we we enjoyed our stay.

However, the jets in the bath need servicing and cleaning properly as there was black gunk coming out of them. I can see similar reviews saying the same thing so it obviously isn't being maintained. This really let down our stay as it was the main feature of the property that we booked for.

Absolutely stunning property, perfect location to explore Cornwall, BUT .

. as others have stated the indoor spa bath needs a good service and clean as when you turn on the jets , black slime comes out and ruins the experience.. for the sake of just getting it serviced and cleaned maybe once a month as per instructions it would make the world of difference.. such a shame as everything else is just perfect in the property ( we run it through to clean out the jets when we arrived and this did help but as stated it needs servicing!)

Amazing week.

Had a lovely stay, all the facilities were spot on. The roof terrace was nice to enjoy the evening sun with a meal and drink or two. It would be the icing on the cake if it had an outside hot tub. Still 5 stars and would definitely recommend and book again.

Very disappointed with the jacuzzi bath as it was reported in a review from July that black slime came out of jets and that a service was required we still were subject to the same black floaters each time we used it, after 3 attempts and no improvement we gave up.

No batteries in the remotes for lighting in cinema room and broken mirror over jacuzzi bath taped up. Felt disappointed that for £1490 for a week these things had not been fixed.

Went to use the jacuzzi bath.

When jets were turned on bath was filled with black scum. As it took nearly an hour to fill we gave up. This ruined an otherwise perfect stay.

This is a beautiful lodge, really very homely.

Beautiful grounds, fantastic place. My only issue would be the hot tub, during use black particles come out of the jets and into the water. The property overall was amazing, really beautiful. Had everything we needed. My one issue for the site would be the road lighting, it was very rarely on, so when walking the dog, if you didn’t take a torch it was pitch black.
